Purely Accidental - Chapter 15
Chapter 15
Pei Youshan stood by the car with her arms crossed, watching Xu Jingshu pull a medium-sized suitcase—no taller than her legs—from the trunk.
This prompted her to ask, "Is this all your luggage?"
It didn't seem like she was moving in for cohabitation but rather checking into a hotel for a few days before leaving.
But for Xu Jingshu, this was indeed a temporary stay. She couldn't be bothered to haul a pile of things back and forth—too troublesome.
If she needed anything, she could just buy it.
Not wanting Pei Youshan to dwell on the matter, Xu Jingshu calmly took her hand and led her toward the elevator.
"I left some unnecessary things with friends. Less luggage is more convenient."
Pei Youshan followed her steps while frowning at the suitcase.
A moment later, her brows relaxed.
Whatever. If she needs anything, I'll just buy it for her.
A sugar mommy never lacks money!
As she opened the front door, Pei Youshan joked, "Xu Ge, even when I'm away these next few days, remember to miss me. You have to send me good morning and good night messages."
"That's your mandatory coursework—no slacking."
"Of course." Xu Jingshu leaned on the suitcase handle, standing motionless in the entryway. Suddenly, she looked at her and impulsively added, "What about good morning and good night kisses?"
Truly a role model among lovers.
A hundred times smoother than her sugar mommy.
Pei Youshan touched her chin, actually giving it serious thought with an adorably earnest expression.
So damn cute.
Xu Jingshu suddenly wanted to ruffle her hair and pinch her cheeks.
After pondering, Pei Youshan cheerfully declared, "Then we'll make up for them all when I get back."
Exemption was out of the question—more kisses and physical contact would help her thicken her skin.
Besides, it would also strengthen the bond between sugar mommy and lover, bringing them closer.
A perfect two-for-one.
Three seconds after she spoke, she saw Xu Jingshu suddenly release the suitcase handle and walk toward her.
That face, which relentlessly teased her aesthetic preferences, was now inches away. A mature, captivating voice sounded clearly in her ear:
"Only making up?"
Xu Jingshu gently wrapped an arm around her waist.
"Can't I get an advance?"
Advance—a word brimming with urgency.
Wrapped in laughter, it also carried a faint trace of anticipation.
Pei Youshan's heart skipped a beat as she blinked dazedly.
Why was her lover so damn smooth?
Did she secretly take flirting classes behind my back?!
Perhaps because Xu Jingshu's gaze was too intense, her face flushed red again.
A soft peach-colored blush spread across her cheeks, more enchanting than flowers.
"Well... I suppose that's fine too..."
Xu Jingshu lowered her eyes, smiling at the shy woman. "How long will Miss Yue be gone?"
Pei Youshan ducked her head, her voice soft and gentle. "Not sure. Maybe a few days, a week, or even half a month."
Barring unforeseen circumstances, she might extend her stay in Jin City for leisure, following Pei Lanqing's example of relaxation.
Xu Jingshu hummed. "Then let's calculate based on half a month."
This was her honest thought.
She was about to go on a business trip with no fixed return date, so naturally, she hoped her sugar mommy would return as late as possible—to avoid any mishaps in her absence.
The sugar mommy herself jerked her head up, a question mark slowly forming above her.
—You picked the longest duration right away? So you don’t want to see me at all?
Xu Jingshu instantly read the subtext in her eyes and calmly remedied, "It's not that I don't want to see Miss Yue."
"It's that I want to kiss Miss Yue more times."
—That line was undeniably sweet.
People always love hearing sweet words. Pei Youshan was convinced, her brows smoothing as she let it slide.
She was about to say something else, but before she could, Xu Jingshu kissed her.
Soft, tender—it scrambled the words stuck in her throat, rendering speech unnecessary. A single word might ruin the enchanting atmosphere.
Whatever.
There’d be time to talk later.
She surrendered without resistance, contentedly melting into the kiss.
......
By the night before Pei Youshan's business trip, Xu Jingshu had indeed claimed all two weeks' worth of good morning and good night kisses.
Thirty kisses—ten today, ten tomorrow, not one more or less—each as quick as a peck before pulling away, like a woodpecker spirit.
The sugar mommy was thoroughly pecked into stupor.
But she also grew accustomed to the kisses.
On the first day of her trip, Pei Youshan woke up early as usual, freshened up, dressed, and prepared to head out for breakfast.
But when she opened the door, the good morning kiss and "Good morning, Miss Yue" that had filled their cohabitation were absent.
She froze, awkwardly touching her lips as a hollow emptiness crept into her chest.
She actually felt... unaccustomed to its absence.
Just then, her phone buzzed with a new message—the morning greeting, unbroken.
[Xu Ge]: Good morning, Miss Yue.
The moment she saw it, the emptiness in her chest dissolved as if it had never existed.
Pei Youshan's mood brightened.
She closed the door and walked to the restaurant with her secretary, Ye Qin, who had come to fetch her.
After receiving Pei Youshan's reply, Xu Jingshu set her phone aside and began packing for her upcoming business trip.
Zhang Jingjing had said that, barring delays, they'd reach the hotel by tonight.
......
"These are Junjiang's terms. Your company can take time to consider them."
"Once you've decided, we'll sign the contract."
Pei Youshan closed the file and slid it over with a flawless smile.
The representative accepted it with a smile, passing it to his female secretary beside him. "President Pei, rest assured, we'll carefully review your terms."
Then he checked his watch, his smile warm and enthusiastic. "It's almost mealtime. Since you're our guest, we'd be honored if you'd join us for dinner."
Pei Youshan smiled politely, whispering briefly to her secretary before regretfully declining. "My apologies, but I still have some work to handle."
"Let's dine together tonight."
The representative agreed readily. "Of course! Tonight, I'll ensure President Pei is well entertained!"
Pei Youshan genuinely had work to do.
On her way back to her room after lunch at the hotel restaurant, Secretary Ye Qin followed closely with a tablet and asked, "President Pei, how long do you think these negotiations will take?"
Pei Youshan had a mild temperament privately and got along well with her secretarial team, so their conversations weren't overly formal.
"Three or four days," Pei Youshan said. "They'll need time to consider."
Ye Qin nodded in understanding.
After instructing her to deliver documents later, Pei Youshan entered the elevator, planning to spend the afternoon in her room, intimately acquainted with work.
......
Around 6 p.m., Pei Youshan stretched, tidied the scattered files on the desk, and tucked them neatly into a folder.
Ye Qin had texted her the evening's itinerary two minutes prior.
She skimmed it, replied "Noted," and stood by the window to stretch.
The representative had reserved a restaurant.
She only needed to arrive by seven.
She could laze in her room for ten more minutes.
So she lay down to chat with her little lover, lest the latter feel neglected.
The call connected quickly.
"Good afternoon," she began brightly.
"Wait, no."
"Good evening~"
A light chuckle came through the phone, as if amused by her.
"Good evening, Miss Yue."
Hearing that voice and the familiar "Miss Yue," Pei Youshan finally felt things were right.
Listening closely, she faintly detected other noises in the background.
—It didn’t sound like home.
"Where are you? Still at work?" she asked.
Xu Jingshu answered frankly, "On a business trip. Just arrived at the hotel."
Pei Youshan paused, nearly blurting out, "You're on a trip too?"
She cleared her throat.
"Oh, so you had a business trip planned?"
"Why didn’t you tell me earlier?"
Xu Jingshu: "It wasn’t important, so I didn’t mention it."
Pei Youshan: "Oh, I see..."
After chatting casually for a while, Pei Youshan hung up, freshened up, grabbed her purse, and stepped into the elevator.
Ye Qin was already waiting outside.
Everything was calm and uneventful.
The floor numbers descended steadily. When the elevator reached the lobby, the doors slid open with a ding.
Pei Youshan stepped out, her gaze inadvertently sweeping past the small fountain in the lobby—and her pupils dilated.
Her feet rooted to the spot as if nailed there.
By the fountain stood someone.
Someone she never expected to see here.
At that moment, as if sensing her presence, the person slowly turned to look at her.
When their eyes met, the surrounding noise seemed to drown in the air.
Amid the passing crowd, they stared at each other in deafening silence.
Pei Youshan: "..."
Xu Jingshu: "..."
An even more awkward situation... had arisen.
