Chapter 6

As a member delegated to the new company, Qin Zhen also attended today's board meeting. Even though she already knew about Wen Shixue's direct and crude method of establishing authority, witnessing it firsthand still made her secretly sigh – Wen Shixue's every thought and action truly couldn't be measured by ordinary standards.

In all her years in the industry, this was the first time she had seen a CEO bring a baseball bat to a board meeting and declare they would "convince by virtue." She quietly raised her eyes, glancing around. The shareholders all looked astonished; indeed, they had never seen a CEO with such a presence.

As someone who eyed the Wen family fortune covetously, Wen Changshun couldn't be sure if Wen Shixue was truly mocking him, but he still felt utterly offended, as if those words were aimed directly at him. He couldn't help but look at the composed Wen Lianchang and forced himself to ask calmly, "Chairman Wen, isn't what she's doing inappropriate?"

Bringing a bat to a board meeting, what kind of decorum is that!

He had to make Wen Lianchang take a stance, publicly embarrass Wen Shixue, and teach her a lesson!

Wen Lianchang turned back and asked calmly, "What's inappropriate about it?"

Wen Changshun was stunned. "?"

What is appropriate about it???

Seeing that Wen Lianchang intended to protect Wen Shixue, the other shareholders wisely fell silent. The nail that sticks out gets hammered; it was better to keep quiet and watch the show.

Qin Zhen slightly turned her head to look at Wen Shixue and saw her, as if tired of standing, calmly prop the baseball bat she held onto the conference table, leaning on it with both hands. Then, with a relaxed expression, she watched her father and second uncle argue, completely unconcerned by the gazes directed at her, as if she were in her own home.

This was completely different from when she first entered the workforce. Back then, she was also like Wen Shixue now, green and inexperienced, but she would get nervous. Wen Shixue, however, didn't. It was as if she was naturally bold and never got stage fright anywhere.

She thought about it again and realized it made sense. Wen Shixue's thought process and unpredictable behavior could only be supported by a face as thick as a city wall and a strong inner core. Or perhaps, Wen Shixue had backing.

Wen Lianchang and Meng Yuezhu were her backing. With them there, she would always be the fearless little princess of the Wen family.

Qin Zhen quietly withdrew her gaze. If this were when she was a child, she would have envied Wen Shixue's happy family, her ability to enjoy familial bliss, and she would have felt jealous, sad, and lost, believing the world was too unfair—why couldn't she grow up cherished by her parents like other children?

But as she grew up, slowly, she became numb to this matter. They were the ones who were unkind by abandoning her first, so why should she waste time thinking about them? Although they had never been in her life, she still lived well, self-reliant and free from worry about food and clothing.

Wen Changshun was almost driven away by Wen Lianchang's rhetorical question. He felt extremely displeased, only daring to show a hint of it on his face: "This is a board meeting, how can you bring a bat here as a joke? Big Brother, you can't favor her just because she's your daughter."

A joke? Wen Shixue interjected at the right moment: "Better to believe it exists than not, Second Uncle."

Anyone who dared to provoke her, who hindered her from building her career, she would personally deliver this "convince by virtue" service. She meant what she said!

Wen Changshun knew she had a sharp tongue and didn't intend to invite trouble. He turned his head and continued to Wen Lianchang, "Are you really going to indulge her in hitting people?"

If Wen Shixue was joking, fine, but what if she actually hit someone? Wouldn't that be the younger bullying the elder, disrespecting her seniors? Even then, would Wen Lianchang still continue to protect her?!

As someone who genuinely wanted to trip Wen Shixue up, Wen Changshun had to secure a protective charm for himself. As long as Wen Lianchang said he wouldn't, he would dare to continue his schemes—anyway, all he needed was to prove that Wen Shixue's management ability was truly lacking. After two years, it would be obvious who the Wen Corporation belonged to.

As a result, Wen Lianchang leisurely retorted, "How is this favoritism? Didn't she already make it very clear? If they don't hinder her and don't harm the Wen Corporation's interests, she won't resort to her own methods to resolve things. If someone ignores the warning and crashes into her, shouldn't she be allowed to fight back?" He then added, "Don't worry, she has a sense of proportion. If you don't trust her, you should at least trust me."

His meaning was already very clear. If Wen Changshun continued, he would only appear tactless. Despite his extreme reluctance, he could only silently shut his mouth.

In fact, Wen Lianchang hadn't originally approved of Wen Shixue's crude and direct method, but after thinking it over carefully, he felt it was feasible.

It hadn't been easy for the Wen Corporation to get to where it was now. To go further in the long run, the internal ranks needed to be united, prioritizing the Wen Corporation's interests and avoiding internal strife. Therefore, he planned to use this opportunity to rectify things. If anyone was truly caught red-handed by Wen Shixue, they would be handed over to Wen Shixue to deal with herself. Even if she actually beat them up, it didn't matter, as long as it made them remember the lesson forever and abandon their disloyal intentions.

As for the severity of the action... he knew his daughter well. He believed Wen Shixue had a sense of proportion and wouldn't falsely accuse loyal people. Moreover, with the upright and steady Qin Zhen accompanying her, nothing could go wrong.

Speaking of Qin Zhen, he suddenly remembered that he hadn't informed her about his plan to travel abroad. So, after the meeting ended, he took both her and Wen Shixue to his office and directly explained and instructed them.

"After I go abroad, I don't know exactly when I'll be back. So before that, I'll have to trouble you, Xiao Zhen, to pay more attention to her, keep an eye on her, and make sure she doesn't really cause me any trouble," Wen Lianchang said. "I won't let you do it for nothing. This is extra salary, which will be deposited into your card every month. Thank you for your hard work."

Upon hearing this, Qin Zhen immediately wanted to refuse the extra salary. She had received care from the Wen couple for many years, and helping them look after their daughter now could be considered repaying their kindness. How could matters of kindness be discussed in terms of money?

Unexpectedly, Wen Shixue beat her to it. She grabbed Wen Lianchang's hand and said gratefully, "Thank you, Chairman Wen. This salary, I, as her superior, accept on her behalf."

Qin Zhen: "?"

Her intuition told her that Wen Shixue was up to something.

Wen Lianchang immediately guessed Wen Shixue had an ulterior motive and asked, both helpless and amused, "What are you trying to do now?"

Wen Shixue turned her head and started plotting with her right in front of Wen Lianchang: "Fifty-fifty split. I promise not to cause trouble so you can earn money easily."

Her face was full of profound seriousness: "For the development of the company, I, as the CEO, will just have to humble myself and take on a side job. My share doesn't need to be paid to me; just count it directly as Chenfeng's income."

Wen Shixue: I want to lead Chenfeng to make money, which means I want to make money. By equivalence, all the money I earn belongs to Chenfeng. That's right, it's exactly like this. I'm simply a business genius!

Qin Zhen: "..."

What exactly... is inside that head of hers?
