Chapter 14

Wen Shixue sat beside Qin Zhen, her brow slightly furrowed as she looked at Jiang Manwei across from her. The fervent anticipation in her eyes had completely transformed into confusion. Silently, she recalled the original plot in her mind—strange, the original plot didn't mention any romantic entanglement between the two of them?

Wen Shixue: Are you, the female lead, creating a romance plot out of nothing and trying to scam me???

She shifted her body, propped her chin on her elbow, and stared at Jiang Manwei without blinking, sincerely asking, "Miss Jiang, why do you think I have that kind of interest in you?"

Jiang Manwei slowly lowered her sunglasses and generously enlightened her, "President Wen, your gaze is too passionate."

Wen Shixue immediately turned to look at Qin Zhen beside her, her eyebrow twitching, using her eyes to ask: Is my gaze, which is craving for her to help me make money, too obvious?

Qin Zhen lightly nodded: Couldn't be more obvious.

Wen Shixue felt something was off. Her fervent gaze was clearly craving the money Jiang Manwei could bring her. What did that have to do with "that kind of interest"?

She couldn't help but blurt out two words: "That's it?"

Wen Shixue: I think you're trying to scam me.

She changed her posture and said logically, "Then your idea is wrong. Aren't your fans' gazes towards you passionate?"

Jiang Manwei raised a finger and shook it: "No, my sixth sense tells me you're not my fan."

Qin Zhen: "..."

She understood. Jiang Manwei had a wild imagination when it came to her sixth sense.

As an observer, she had no doubt that Wen Shixue's gaze, wanting Jiang Manwei to help her make money, was overly passionate, leading Jiang Manwei to misunderstand, and even skip the layer of misunderstanding about being a fervent fan.

She calmly spoke, "I think Miss Jiang might have misunderstood something."

Wen Shixue also denied, "Yes, you misunderstood. I have no interest in—" Her voice stopped abruptly. She glanced at the male lead, Zhu Ziming, beside her, suddenly hesitating whether to throw out the phrase "I'm not interested in women" in front of him.

She had just lied to the male lead that she liked women, and now she was saying she didn't like women. This act was too inconsistent.

Zhu Ziming met her gaze and nodded slightly, his eyes showing a hint of determination. His slender fingers lightly covered his lips, his whole body exuding reliability, as if telling her: Don't worry, President Wen, my lips are sealed!

He firmly believed that Wen Shixue dared to tell him her sexual orientation directly because she trusted him, and also out of kindness, fearing that he might go down a path of no return in the future, falling in love with a woman with no future. So, to repay his boss's trust, he would definitely keep this secret until the boss and vice president went public.

Zhu Ziming: President Wen, Vice President Qin, this is all I can do. I wish you happiness!

Wen Shixue didn't know what he had inferred. She turned her head and awkwardly changed a word: "I have no interest in you." She added, "Towards every client who can have a long-term, friendly cooperation with Chenfeng, my gaze will be especially... friendly."

Jiang Manwei's manager hurriedly said, "Oh, our Manwei just likes to joke around. We hope President Wen won't take it to heart."

Jiang Manwei's outburst had scared him to death. Saying something like that to the little princess of the Wen Group? Was she serious???

Jiang Manwei, having built up her confidence through her own efforts, wasn't afraid of this. Instead, after hearing Wen Shixue mention "long-term," she smiled and asked, "Long-term? President Wen is so sure? What if I don't?"

"You will," Wen Shixue said. "Because Chenfeng's quality is worthy of every client's trust, and also because Zhu Ziming's designs are enough to move you."

Chenfeng was not only the task Wen Lianchang had entrusted to her, but also her path towards the Wen Group, making it extraordinarily significant to her. She would devote all her energy to this company, like a newborn baby, ensuring it grew well and healthily, and would never have quality issues.

The design department was also a major oversight department at Chenfeng. Every piece of work would undergo strict quality inspection after it was released, absolutely ensuring that problematic products would not be delivered to clients, and they would never joke around with Chenfeng's reputation.

Most importantly, the talented Zhu Ziming was here. Zhu Ziming's designs were always lively and unique, especially fitting Jiang Manwei's preferences, like a soul drifting in the world finally finding its destined other half. It was precisely because of this that they would meet, get to know each other, and fall in love.

So Wen Shixue believed that Jiang Manwei would definitely continue to choose Zhu Ziming and choose Chenfeng.

Jiang Manwei's thoughts were seen through by Wen Shixue. Zhu Ziming's work indeed gave her a fresh perspective, as if this was the exact appearance of the jewelry she had been expecting to see deep in her heart, resonating with her soul in satisfaction.

She lowered her eyes and smiled, taking the dark blue jewelry box from her manager's hand: "President Wen is very smart."

Seeing this, Qin Zhen lightly tapped the armrest of Wen Shixue's chair. Wen Shixue understood and stood up, placing a hand on Zhu Ziming's shoulder: "My intention to cooperate has been made very clear. The two of you can talk now, we'll be leaving." Then she patted Zhu Ziming's shoulder, "Take a taxi back yourself, I'll reimburse the fare."

This was a good time for the male and female leads to develop their relationship. Staying would be too insensitive. The rest was up to Zhu Ziming's initiative.

Before leaving, Qin Zhen noticed Jiang Manwei's gaze lingering on Wen Shixue for a moment, as if searching for something, before finally retracting it without finding anything, not saying a single word.

The two walked out of the coffee shop. Wen Shixue checked the time and saw it was almost mealtime, suggesting, "Vice President Qin, let's have lunch together. We're already out anyway."

Qin Zhen didn't refuse.

Wen Shixue pulled up her chat history with Wen Yue. A few days ago, Wen Yue had recommended a restaurant to her, which she hadn't been to yet. It was a good opportunity to go now.

They drove to the underground parking lot of the Jinmu Commercial District. After getting out of the car, Qin Zhen followed behind Wen Shixue, patiently waiting for her to find the restaurant's location.

Wen Shixue looked down at the chat history, then looked up at the bustling and grand commercial district. Knowing where to go, she took a step forward. The next second, her wrist was grabbed by someone, and a sudden force pulled her back—she fell into Qin Zhen's arms, her face full of confusion.

Two children ran past the spot where she had just been standing like a gust of wind, leaving behind a string of crisp, clear, and annoying laughter.

Wen Shixue subconsciously raised her face, meeting those beautiful eyes and that charming tear mole. She paused, seeing that mature and serious face at this distance for the first time.

Qin Zhen clearly hadn't expected Wen Shixue to fall into her arms either. The two looked at each other, the air between them seeming to freeze.

Qin Zhen was the first to snap back to reality and quickly released Wen Shixue. Seeing this, Wen Shixue crossed her arms and calmly started joking, "According to novel tropes, after a little interlude like this, we'll look at each other, then fall in love, and walk hand-in-hand towards the happy ending."

Upon hearing this, Qin Zhen looked at her extremely seriously. After a long moment, she calmly said—

"We won't fall in love."
