SCHS - Chapter 11

Chapter 11

Chapter 11

Wen Shixue sat alone behind her desk, the paper printed with the female lead's name placed before her.

Jiang Manwei, a well-known popular actress, queen of traffic, and the female protagonist herself, who wouldn't change her name or surname.

In the original plot, Zhu Ziming helped Jiang Manwei evade paparazzi and later chased away thugs for her, leading to their acquaintance. Jiang Manwei was always someone who repaid kindness, so she kept Zhu Ziming's contact information. After learning he had become a jewelry designer, she generously placed an order to thank him for his righteous act. This triggered a series of events, leading to them falling for each other and overcoming countless difficulties together to reach a beautiful happy ending.

And she, Wen Shixue, was once the most prominent, albeit unwilling, part of those countless difficulties.

She looked at the paper, her thumb gently rubbing against her index finger, silently repeating the motion, letting her thoughts drift further and further away. All the plot developments felt fantastical and strange, giving rise to countless possibilities in her world that went against science, and also making her slowly start to ponder all sorts of bizarre questions.

Would there come a day when she would lose all her thoughts, lose control of her body, and revert back to being a tool-like villainous side character? Was her obtaining this information a mere accident? Or was it deliberately orchestrated by fate, wanting her to escape this predicament, change the ending, and be herself?

No one could give her the answer.

She slowly clenched her hand into a fist, but she could give herself the answer—it was destiny, it must be that even the heavens couldn't stand seeing her manipulated as a tool, so they arranged that accident. Since that was the case, she must live well and change the ending!

Holding the entire script in her hands, she was already one step ahead of everyone else at the finish line. Naturally, there was much more she could do. Suddenly, she remembered what Qin Zhen had said to her yesterday.

Celebrities, a client group with impeccable publicity and promotional capabilities. It was just that the entertainment industry was too vast, making it hard for her to figure out who to start with back then, but now she had the answer.

She narrowed her eyes, her lips slowly curving upwards into a determined smile.

Since the male lead could help her make money, the female lead could too. With two protagonist halos, would she still worry about not making money? Why be a stumbling block? Everyone benefits mutually, making money together—isn't that better?

With a clear idea in mind, Wen Shixue immediately got up to find Qin Zhen to discuss it. Ever since Qin Zhen defended her position yesterday, her trust in Qin Zhen had slowly grown unconsciously, and she began to voluntarily seek Qin Zhen's advice, so as not to let down her intentions.

As soon as Wen Shixue opened the door to the Vice President's office, she saw Qin Zhen standing by the spacious, brightly lit window. She was wearing a grey ice-feel shirt and black straight-leg trousers, which accentuated her tall, slender figure and gave her an air of unparalleled, proud elegance.

Holding a black thermos cup, she calmly turned her head to look at the person at the door and reminded her without a ripple of emotion: "President Wen, you can knock on that door."

Even if she was her superior, wasn't it a bit rude to just barge in without knocking first?

Wen Shixue said "Oh," retreated rigorously, closed the door, and then rigorously knocked twice.

Qin Zhen was speechless at her attempt to mend the situation. After two seconds, she turned around, put down the thermos cup, and personally walked over to open the door and welcome her in, leaving the secretaries passing by not far away completely stunned.

Secretaries: Why was President Wen kicked out by Vice President Qin, and then welcomed back in by Vice President Qin? Is this the romantic life of bosses?

Wen Shixue sat down on the black sofa without ceremony and asked considerately, "Did I interrupt you, Vice President Qin?"

Qin Zhen replied, "No, I just stood for a bit after sitting for a long time." Then she steered the conversation back on track. "Did President Wen need something?"

"Yes, yes." Wen Shixue leaned forward and asked excitedly, "Does Vice President Qin remember what you told me yesterday about developing celebrities as our clients?"

Qin Zhen glanced at her and immediately caught on to her train of thought: "Is President Wen referring to Miss Jiang?"

Wen Shixue's almond eyes widened slightly, and she clapped admiringly: "As expected of Vice President Qin!"

Although Qin Zhen didn't follow the entertainment industry closely, she had a certain understanding of artists with commercial value through her work. As a popular actress who had been a big hit in recent years, Jiang Manwei was naturally included. Qin Zhen also thought she was very suitable to be developed as a client, or even... an ambassador.

"How does President Wen plan to do it?" Qin Zhen asked.

Wen Shixue: "Encourage Zhu Ziming, tell him to work hard, not only to develop Jiang Manwei into a client, but also into an ambassador!"

Qin Zhen: "..."

He's just an innocent jewelry designer, and he also has to be responsible for developing clients into ambassadors??

Isn't that asking too much of him?

Although Qin Zhen was full of questions, she still patiently asked about her idea: "How do you want him to develop Miss Jiang into an ambassador?"

Wen Shixue said as if it were the most natural thing: "Have Jiang Manwei become his girlfriend."

Qin Zhen: "...?"

Does that sound very simple? Otherwise,

why would she say it so frankly and matter-of-factly???

Qin Zhen: Every day, I have no idea what's going on in my new boss's head.

Wen Shixue, as someone holding the script, said calmly, "Vice President Qin, don't you think those two are a perfect match?"

"Where are they a match?" Qin Zhen asked sincerely.

"Their names are a perfect match," Wen Shixue said calmly. "Look, both their names have three characters. How matched is that!"

Qin Zhen: "..."

I feel like you're grasping at straws.

Qin Zhen said calmly, "President Wen, matters of the heart follow their natural course and cannot be forced."

Wen Shixue was twenty-three this year, a full seven years younger than her, so in her eyes, she was still a child. It was normal for children to have some willful ideas, but they needed to be corrected in time to prevent them from going down the wrong path.

Wen Shixue suddenly sensed a deep, elder-like aura about her, and thinking she was about to lecture her, she immediately said innocently, "I'm not planning to force them, I just want to create more opportunities for them to meet."

"Besides, they don't need to be forced, because they are destined to be together."

Wen Shixue: That's what the script says! I've read the script!

Hearing this, Qin Zhen looked up at her: "You calculated it?"

Wen Shixue heard this and immediately put on the air of a metaphysician with a thick face, nodded, and then said profoundly, "Vice President Qin, this matter is just between you and me. Heavenly secrets should not be leaked everywhere."

Qin Zhen was silent for a moment, then replied, "Understood."

Since she had calculated it, it meant it had some credibility.

Wen Shixue saw that Qin Zhen believed her so much and was convinced that if her identity as a metaphysician was exposed one day, the first person to settle the score with her would definitely be Qin Zhen. But it didn't matter, she wasn't flustered, it was a small matter, she could handle it.

"I plan to go see Zhu Ziming," Wen Shixue said, getting up. "Does Vice President Qin want to come along?"

Qin Zhen nodded without hesitation. With an unconventional and unique boss, it was more reassuring to stay by her side.

Wen Shixue didn't have much to say to Zhu Ziming, just gave him some verbal encouragement, telling him to do a good job and not disappoint the client's expectations. Zhu Ziming agreed, his expression slightly heavy for a moment as he lowered his eyes.

Wen Shixue noticed his state and raised an eyebrow, but didn't point it out directly in front of everyone. She turned to encourage the rest of the design department, telling them to focus on designing, work hard, and not feel pressured, before leaving with Qin Zhen.

After leaving the design department, Wen Shixue asked, "Why did he look like he had something on his mind?"

"Perhaps he's under pressure," Qin Zhen said. "But learning to manage pressure is also part of their job."

In modern society, which corporate worker doesn't have some pressure? It's just a matter of more or less.

Zhu Ziming was working for the first time, young and inexperienced, and there was still a lot he needed to learn. Time would slowly teach him, and they didn't need to worry. Even if he truly had something on his mind, he had to learn to separate his personal worries from his work, so neither would be affected.

Wen Shixue didn't dwell on it. Just then, her phone rang. She took it out and her face lit up with pleasure: "Excellent, my takeout has arrived."

Qin Zhen: "?"

Qin Zhen: "When did you order takeout?"

How did she not know???

Wen Shixue: "Just now when I was coming over, I did it on the side." She added, "I need to call two people down to help me carry it, I ordered enough for the entire secretarial office."

Qin Zhen: "...More cola and stuff?"

Wen Shixue smiled, and Qin Zhen knew the answer. She couldn't help but say, "Eat less, it's not good for your health."

Wen Shixue originally wanted to retort, "Paper-thin people don't need to worry about that," but managed to hold back and quickly changed her words: "Why are you just like my dad?" Then she refuted herself, "No, Lao Wen at least eats with me, but you won't."

Wen Shixue: Vice President Qin, truly boring.

Qin Zhen: "..."

Could this habit be hereditary?

...

Wen Shixue took her share of cola and fries, left the only cup of hot soy milk for Qin Zhen, and had Secretary Xiao Chen deliver the rest to the secretarial office. Seeing that it was hot, the proper and mature Vice President Qin finally didn't refuse.

Wen Shixue then dragged her along to tour the company, saying she hadn't had a complete tour since she arrived so many days ago. But she quickly realized that Wen Shixue didn't actually want her to accompany her on a tour.

"You just want me to hold your fries," Qin Zhen said.

Wen Shixue held the cola in one hand and a fry in the other, shamelessly praising, "Vice President Qin is too smart!"

Qin Zhen was speechless at her frankness, but still honestly followed beside her, acting as a tool, after all, she was getting paid.

As the two passed the smoking area, they looked inside and saw a familiar face—Zhu Ziming.

At that moment, he was standing alone by the window, the collar of his plain white shirt half-open, a half-burnt cigarette between his fingers, looking heavy-hearted. He hadn't noticed them.

Wen Shixue raised an eyebrow and called out to him first: "Something wrong?"

As soon as Zhu Ziming saw them, he immediately stubbed out the cigarette, hastily waved away the smoke, and said with an embarrassed look, "Nothing, nothing."

Wen Shixue walked up to him and asked, "Under pressure?"

She hit the nail on the head, and Zhu Ziming had to admit it, then explained apologetically, "My family situation is quite special, they put a lot of pressure on me, so I learned to smoke to relieve stress later. I hope you can understand..."

The vast family business, the denied dream, the things that had weighed on him before were too heavy. Fortunately, his smoking habit wasn't severe, he didn't crave it every day.

Qin Zhen said, "It's understandable, you don't need to feel guilty."

Wen Shixue imitated his gesture, picking up a fry with two fingers, and said, "Just smoking, what's the big deal?"

Zhu Ziming looked at her hand gesture and asked curiously, "You smoke too?"

Wen Shixue: "I don't."

Zhu Ziming was confused: "Then why does your gesture look so similar?"

It was exactly the same as when he smoked.

Wen Shixue glanced at the fry in her hand, then at him, and said seriously, "I haven't eaten pork, but haven't I seen you run?"

Zhu Ziming: "???"

What kind of speaking genius are you???
