Purely Accidental - Chapter 12

Chapter 12

Chapter 12

Pei Youshan stood at the guest bedroom doorway, face-to-face with Xu Jingshu, her beautiful face flushed an impossible shade of red.

The black pajamas draped over Xu Jingshu's frame remained unbuttoned, casually hanging open to reveal skin as pale as midwinter snow.

Xu Jingshu leisurely adjusted her pajamas, completely unhurried.

Instead, she found her flustered benefactor rather amusing.

Though she didn't understand the meaning behind Pei Youshan's repeated door opening and closing, what kind of sugar mommy would blush like this just from seeing their lover change clothes?

Xu Jingshu dearly wanted to make her look in a mirror—to see just how teasingly adorable she appeared right now.

Pei Youshan gripped the door handle stiffly, wishing she could knock some sense into herself.

This was terrible—she'd forgotten again that someone else lived here now.

When she realized her lover remained far calmer than herself, the DNA-deep embarrassment began prickling across her scalp.

Pei Youshan, oh Pei Youshan, you're truly the shame of all sugar mommies!

What kind of benefactor blushes from seeing their lover change clothes?!

Since things had come to this, she needed to do something to move past this incident.

Then she heard her little lover ask: "Miss Yue, did you need something?"

"Nothing, nothing! I just came to get a book."

She forced a laugh, slowly inching toward the desk while carefully avoiding the inexplicably heated space nearby.

"Keep changing, don't mind me..."

Xu Jingshu had already fastened the top three buttons. Hearing this, she turned and glanced at the desk.

Sure enough, there was a book with a bookmark peeking between its pages.

Pei Youshan froze mid-step, watching helplessly as Xu Jingshu picked up the book.

Then walked toward her.

The sudden sight of that slender, snow-white waist burned across her vision like fire.

She hastily averted her gaze, the peach-blossom flush on her face deepening.

Xu Jingshu found her even more adorable now, suppressing her teasing instincts as she presented the book.

"Miss Yue."

"Anything else you need?"

The abruptly shortened distance and her half-dressed lover short-circuited Pei Youshan's brain momentarily.

She numbly accepted the book, then foolishly added: "...I didn't see anything."

A wave of familiar déjà vu washed over her.

Never did she imagine those cliché lines and scenarios from idol dramas and romance novels would one day appear in her own life.

Following the usual tropes, she should be getting kicked out right about now.

But Xu Jingshu remained silent for two seconds.

Because she suddenly couldn't comprehend Pei Youshan's meaning.

Then Pei Youshan heard her ask with utmost sincerity: "You didn't see? Would you like me to undress again?"

Pei Youshan: "???"

Good heavens, what kind of interpretation was this???

She hesitated over her response.

If she maintained her thin-skinned innocence and didn't look—she'd be a saint.

If she looked—that's what a proper sugar mommy would do.

So logically...she should look, right?

She secretly lifted her gaze, scanning Xu Jingshu's flawless face—not a trace of panic to be found.

Meanwhile, she—the supposed benefactor, the premium member—was utterly flustered.

This wouldn't do. This was unacceptable. Veteran sugar mommy Pei Youshan needed to stand her ground!

"Then you..." she clutched the book tightly, voice soft, "...go ahead and undress."

Xu Jingshu's eyebrow arched slightly.

A professional golden canary never refused their benefactor's requests.

Especially when said benefactor was this...adorable.

Pei Youshan watched as those pale wrists with prominent bones slowly undid the white buttons.

With a slight movement of fingers, the first button came undone, generously revealing luminous skin.

Then the second.

The atmosphere grew abruptly intimate.

Her face burned hotter.

Her heartbeat inexplicably quickened.

The air turned stifling, as if flames encircled them.

Pei Youshan gripped the book tightly, her gaze unconsciously drawn to Xu Jingshu's face.

Those lazy fox eyes remained enchantingly beautiful, but this time she detected a trace of amusement within them.

Faint, and completely harmless.

She's so beautiful...

Pei Youshan thought inappropriately.

Beautiful enough to make one reluctant to blink.

Then Xu Jingshu stopped unbuttoning, letting the fabric hang loosely.

Instead, her hand moved to lightly caress Pei Youshan's reddened earlobe as she asked in a low, amused voice: "Is Miss Yue feeling shy?"

Pei Youshan snapped back to reality, stammering defensively: "N-no!"

Xu Jingshu's playful mood intensified: "Then why are your face and ears so red?"

Pei Youshan's eyes darted about: "It's...hot in here!"

Xu Jingshu: "The air conditioning is on."

Chilly air currents brushed against their limbs, impossible to ignore.

Pei Youshan insisted stubbornly: "Then you must have set it too high! Not cool enough!"

Xu Jingshu smiled: "It's already at the lowest setting, Miss Yue."

Pei Youshan: "..."

She made one last attempt: "Then...it must be broken! I'll call someone to fix it tomorrow..."

"Mmm."

Xu Jingshu mercifully reined in her teasing, graciously preserving her dignity.

"It must be broken."

Pei Youshan escaped like a pardoned prisoner, standing stiffly outside the door with a dry laugh: "Keep changing then. I'll go read in my room—call me if you need anything."

With that, she turned and fled, vanishing in an instant.

Only then did Xu Jingshu close the door and resume changing.

......

Pei Youshan buried her face in a pillow, remaining motionless.

Her head felt like it was steaming—she could probably fry two eggs on it right now.

Though Xu Jingshu hadn't fully undressed, she'd still seen...quite enough.

Not only was that face flawless, but the figure was equally impeccable...

The only flaw was her own paper-thin composure.

Fragile as a balloon—one poke and it would pop.

Meanwhile, Xu Ge remained far calmer than her.

She comforted herself—it must be because they weren't familiar enough yet, unaccustomed to such contact.

She needed to spend more time with Xu Ge, have more physical contact until it all felt normal. Then her composure would surely thicken, and she wouldn't embarrass herself like before.

Yes—she should interact with Xu Ge more!

Decision made, she patted her cheeks, sat up, and struggled to focus on her book.

After several minutes, she successfully lost herself in the story.

When she finally closed the book, midnight approached unnoticed.

Time to sleep.

She set the book aside to brush her teeth and wash up, then went to the living room for water.

At that moment, Xu Jingshu opened her bedroom door.

Their gazes met unintentionally.

Pei Youshan took the opportunity to examine her.

The black pajamas fit perfectly—neither too long nor short—accentuating her cool elegance.

Seeing the clothes suited her, Pei Youshan felt relieved, even considering trying sleepwear on her next time.

Faced with such beauty, the dress-up game instinct emerged naturally.

Xu Jingshu spoke first: "Miss Yue isn't asleep yet?"

Pei Youshan sat on a barstool, setting down her glass. Her lips glistened slightly as they parted: "About to sleep."

Xu Jingshu nodded, then unexpectedly walked over, standing before her to say: "Goodnight, Miss Yue."

Then a gentle kiss landed on her cheek.

The night breeze lingered as moonlight outside suddenly seemed as tender as that kiss.

Pei Youshan froze momentarily from the unexpected softness, only snapping back when Xu Jingshu withdrew. Without thinking, she caught her hand, gazing into her eyes wordlessly.

Xu Jingshu remained leaning against the chair, effectively caging her in.

At this proximity, she couldn't help studying Pei Youshan's eyes.

Clear as water, bright as stars—just like that first encounter, utterly irresistible.

After a pause, Pei Youshan finally moved her fingers, lightly brushing Xu Jingshu's wrist, inadvertently stirring a ticklish sensation.

Slowly, she murmured: "You can be more proactive."

Then she leaned in, initiating a kiss on Xu Jingshu's lips.

Xu Jingshu froze briefly before naturally accepting this boldness.

This kiss felt more composed than their first—the gentle press of lips rippling through their hearts, sending pulses racing wildly.

But this chaste intimacy soon concluded like a youthful romance—careful, shy, and restrained.

Pei Youshan opened her shimmering eyes, cheeks flushed yet radiantly lovely.

Xu Jingshu inexplicably wanted to kiss those eyes but restrained herself.

Pei Youshan also patted her head, smiling: "Goodnight."

Xu Jingshu watched her return to her room—those light, almost skipping steps.

She couldn't help a soft chuckle, remaining pensively still before finally retiring.

......

Before Pei Youshan woke, the housekeeper had already prepared two breakfasts per her instructions and left.

After washing up, she emerged to find Xu Jingshu on the balcony with water, turning at the sound.

Pei Youshan glanced between her and the breakfast: "Why aren't you eating?"

Xu Jingshu approached leisurely: "Waiting for you."

Then lightly kissed her lips: "Good morning, Miss Yue."

Applying what she'd learned—absolutely textbook perfect.

Pei Youshan mentally applauded her!

Post-breakfast, they prepared separately to go out.

While organizing her bag, Xu Jingshu retrieved the signed book for Xu Jingying.

Since she'd be here all day, carrying it around risked damage—and Xu Jingying would definitely throw a fit.

"Xu Ge."

Pei Youshan called from outside.

"Ready?"

Xu Jingshu tucked the book into a corner and exited.

......

Pei Youshan collected their movie tickets, bought popcorn and sodas, then waited with Xu Jingshu in the lobby.

They were seeing the popular romantic comedy "Being the Protagonist," starring an actress Pei Youshan adored.

Before entering, she couldn't resist gushing to Xu Jingshu.

Mostly about how gorgeous the lead actress was.

Xu Jingshu listened expressionlessly, as if their aesthetics were fundamentally incompatible.

"I think Miss Yue is prettier," Xu Jingshu suddenly said.

Pei Youshan short-circuited from this sweet talk, rendered speechless by the flattery, all her praises evaporating instantly.

She silently sipped her soda, dropping the subject.

......

The massive screen darkened abruptly as lights illuminated the theater, credits rolling.

Scattered audience members began leaving.

But Pei Youshan remained firmly seated.

Xu Jingshu glanced around before turning to her eager companion: "What is Miss Yue waiting for?"

Pei Youshan answered excitedly: "The post-credits scene."

"I believe every movie's extra scenes are worth anticipating—they're surprises distinct from the main story, like unboxing a mystery. You never know what you'll get."

"So I love watching them."

Since she enjoyed post-credits scenes, Xu Jingshu had no objections, quietly waiting alongside her.

After the movie and lunch, they browsed nearby shops. On the top floor was a bookstore where Pei Youshan happily selected two new releases.

Exiting, she thoughtfully asked if Xu Jingshu wanted to visit anywhere.

Xu Jingshu nodded.

Then Pei Youshan followed her pointing finger.

—An arcade.

Though unexpected, Pei Youshan agreed, immediately exchanging a full box of tokens upon entry.

They wandered to the claw machines, where Xu Jingshu eyed the scissor-cut prize dispenser, deciding to test her skills.

"Which one would Miss Yue like?"

Pei Youshan raised an eyebrow: "I get to choose?"

Having been scammed by these machines before, she hardly believed they operated on demand.

Xu Jingshu stated calmly: "Yes, you may."

"This arcade has the most cooperative claw machines in Jiang City."

Seeing her confident expertise, Pei Youshan randomly pointed at a corgi plush—expecting nothing, just humoring her.

—Then she snipped the corgi free effortlessly.

What followed was an absolute massacre—every machine Pei Youshan indicated was promptly emptied.

Bystanders gathered to watch, some bold enough to request tips.

Pei Youshan: "..."

I thought you were bluffing, but you're actually the god of arcades?!

"Stop!" She grabbed Xu Jingshu's wrist. "We can't carry anymore..."

Xu Jingshu surveyed the pile of plushies at their feet and complied.

After dinner, they returned home.

With Xu Jingshu's consent, Pei Youshan gifted all but the corgi to strangers.

In the elevator, Pei Youshan hugged the plush while Xu Jingshu observed her.

Seaweed-like hair cascaded over her shoulders—smooth and silky—her doll-like features exquisitely perfect.

"Xu Ge, you're amazing at games," Pei Youshan marveled.

Not just the claw machines—there wasn't a single arcade game her lover couldn't dominate.

Xu Jingshu replied modestly: "It's nothing. I just play often."

Pei Youshan rested her cheek against the soft plush, tilting her head to study her, finding her even more endearing.

Someone who appeared so aloof yet loved arcade games—wasn't that adorable?

......

Back home, Xu Jingshu set her bag down to fetch water.

Noticing the neglected succulent in the living room, Pei Youshan returned it to the guest bedroom as decoration.

Then she spotted the novel tucked in the corner.

—Her new book.

She couldn't fathom why it was here, even doubting her own memory—had she taken one from the study?

Until she flipped it open randomly—

"Study hard, wishing you academic success."

"Thanks for your support."

A simple doodled cat face.

Wasn't this the personalized autograph for Producer Chen's daughter???

Stunned, she numbly walked out to ask: "Xu Ge, that novel on the desk...is it yours?"

Xu Jingshu nodded lightly.

Pei Youshan felt thunderstruck.

Xu Ge was Producer Chen's daughter...

No way—this couldn't be happening! What were the odds?!

Facing Xu Jingshu's puzzled expression, she forced herself to stay calm.

Until verified, she shouldn't panic.

Feigning composure, she retreated to her room and called Lin Feifei.

Lin Feifei sounded confused: "What's the emergency?"

Pei Youshan massaged her forehead: "How could it not be? Guess what I found in my lover's room?"

"The autographed book for Producer Chen's daughter!"

Lin Feifei: "...Holy shit, seriously?"

A pause.

"Wait—I thought his daughter was a high school sophomore? Your lover's twenty-six, right?"

Pei Youshan fell silent as increasingly wild possibilities flooded her mind.

She voiced a terrifying hypothesis: "What if...she lied about her age? Even skipped school to see me?!"

If true, her sins were unforgivable.

—She'd kissed a minor!!!

Lin Feifei's silence spoke volumes.

Finally, she said: "I suggest you talk this through properly."

......

Xu Jingshu watched Pei Youshan anxiously retreat to her room, then emerge with grave determination.

Pei Youshan sat at one end of the sofa, gesturing for her to take the opposite end.

Xu Jingshu complied, eyeing her suspiciously.

"Did you need something, Miss Yue?"

Hearing her voice deepened Pei Youshan's frown.

If this person truly was underage, and considering what they'd done yesterday...

Heavens above—she deserved execution three hundred times over!

"Xu Ge." She began solemnly. "Are you really twenty-six?"

Xu Jingshu seemed amused: "Why wouldn't I be?"

Pei Youshan grimaced: "...You're not a high schooler lying about your age, are you?"

Xu Jingshu: "..."

She found this rather hilarious.

"Miss Yue, do I look like a high school student to you?"

Pei Youshan replied gravely: "You never know."

"Some people just...mature late."

Xu Jingshu: "..."

What an elegant way to say "look underdeveloped."
