Chapter 8

Zhu Ziming was dressed in a crisp white shirt and black suit pants, looking refreshed and clean. His fair, flawless face was perfect from every angle. It had to be admitted, in terms of looks, he had the standard face of a novel's male lead.

It was just that sometimes his brain was a bit naive, or to put it bluntly, silly. Fortunately, he only acted silly in trivial matters and never made mistakes in important ones, so he was still quite likable, which was one of the reasons the heroine liked him.

Wen Shixue stroked her chin, musing that she hadn't expected her identity as a metaphysician to be so deeply ingrained in people's minds.

Wen Shixue: Don't I, this young lady, look like a wealthy CEO?

Qin Zhen was also taken aback, realizing for the first time that Zhu Ziming was quite perceptive; his first reaction was actually to look at the feng shui. She couldn't help but look at Wen Shixue, waiting for her to reveal her identity, only to hear her say, "Yes, I'm here to look at the feng shui."

Qin Zhen: "...?"

Was that what we said at the beginning?

Wen Shixue shamelessly continued, "I looked at your spot before, it's a good feng shui location, but it's not the best place in all of Chenfeng." She turned sideways, inviting him warmly, "Come, I'll take you to appreciate the place in Chenfeng that gathers all the luck and has the best feng shui!"

Qin Zhen: "..."

I knew you could tell fortunes, but I didn't know you could read feng shui...

Zhu Ziming showed a look of surprise and, being polite, asked, "So our company has such a good place? May I ask where it is?"

He wanted to clarify the location before deciding whether to go with them, because he was just a new, unknown little designer and shouldn't wander around the company casually. It wouldn't be good if he went somewhere he wasn't supposed to.

Wen Shixue smiled slightly: "It's my office."

Zhu Ziming nodded understandingly, then froze, his eyes suddenly widening.

Wen Shixue: "Chenfeng CEO's office."

Zhu Ziming was bewildered: "???"

Wen Shixue raised her hand, gesturing for him to look at Qin Zhen: "This is Chenfeng's Vice President, her surname is Qin, and her name is Qin Zhen." Then she smiled slightly, "My surname is Wen."

Being warmly "greeted" by his two top superiors on his first day of work, Young Master Xu stood rooted to the spot, stunned for a while before recovering. His sharp eyebrows furrowed, and he uttered three words: "You tricked me."

Thinking carefully, perhaps it had been a deception from the moment they met. There was no such thing as a metaphysician at all; they had ulterior motives and had planned to trick him into coming here all along!

Young Master Xu, who had just entered society, felt the wickedness of the world for the first time.

Wen Shixue faced this accusation with composure, as if she had never done anything wrong: "That's right, I did indeed trick you with my name. After all, I was afraid of being resented if my predictions weren't accurate."

As someone who had also used a fake name and identity, Zhu Ziming naturally didn't mind this. What he cared about was that his coming to Chenfeng was intentional on their part, and Chenfeng had lost the meaning of being a place for him to come and realize his dreams.

He asked incredulously, "Why did you trick me before?"

Wen Shixue didn't answer, but asked in return, "Besides my name, what else did I trick you with?"

"Tricking me into coming to Chenfeng," Zhu Ziming said.

"That's not tricking you into coming to Chenfeng," Wen Shixue corrected, "That's recommending you to come to Chenfeng."

It was true that the fortune was "told" by her, but she hadn't forced Zhu Ziming to come to Chenfeng. The final choice was still in Zhu Ziming's hands. She also didn't believe that Zhu Ziming hadn't investigated Chenfeng before applying. Since it was a matter of mutual consent, how could it be called "tricking"?

Wen Shixue: Don't talk nonsense, I didn't, I'm not.

Zhu Ziming was speechless.

He had indeed noticed Chenfeng based on her recommendation and conducted some investigation. He learned that Chenfeng was a new company, just starting out, and not at all attention-grabbing, which was indeed very suitable for him to hide his identity, work diligently to pursue his dreams, and temporarily not worry about being found by his family. Moreover, Chenfeng was under the Wen Group, such a large conglomerate would certainly not be a trap. After much consideration, he prepared a series of work materials and finally submitted his resume and design drafts.

Thinking about it this way, Wen Shixue's talk of recommendation... actually made sense?

Qin Zhen, who was observing from the side, could see the wavering in Zhu Ziming's eyes—he had been persuaded by Wen Shixue.

Wen Shixue continued, "Mr. Zhu Ziming, please think carefully. I predicted that you wanted to be a jewelry designer, and I run a jewelry company. Since I can give you this opportunity and environment to pursue your dream, and it can also make me money, is it wrong for me to go with the flow and recommend you to our company?"

Zhu Ziming fell silent again, then looked at her: "What kind of environment can you give me?"

Wen Shixue replied: "A reasonable and fair working environment."

Wen Lianchang had taught her before that the environment shapes people. Excessive pressure would only exhaust employees physically and mentally, drastically reduce work efficiency, delay work progress repeatedly, and then lead to an endless cycle of overtime. Qin Zhen, having been in the Wen Group for a long time, was deeply influenced by this philosophy and had also reminded her to pay attention to the company's environment.

Her primary goal now was to build her career. Anything that helped her career, she would not hesitate to do!

Zhu Ziming looked at her intently. After a long while, the light in his eyes gradually brightened, like a cluster of flames named hope reignited, and even his voice carried a hint of determination: "Okay, I believe you."

Since he had chosen this place, he would start here. At worst, he could leave. The world was vast, and he would surely find another place to go.

Wen Shixue nodded with satisfaction, reaching out to pat his arm: "Work hard, young man, you can definitely do it."

He could become an excellent jewelry designer, make a lot of money for Chenfeng, and break off his engagement with her!

After coaxing the male lead, Wen Shixue turned and followed Qin Zhen back to the office. Along the way, she would occasionally glance at Qin Zhen out of the corner of her eye. Qin Zhen was wearing an elegant chiffon shirt today, paired with black trousers. A thin black tie was tied under the turned-down collar, and the row of buttons on her shirt was fastened tightly and neatly, just like her serious and meticulous personality.

Wen Shixue stared at her, thinking about one thing in her mind—whether or not to tell her Zhu Ziming's real identity.

"What is President Wen looking at?" Qin Zhen asked calmly.

Wen Shixue calmly withdrew her gaze: "Just looking around."

She decided, it was better not to for now. Qin Zhen hadn't completely become her person yet and was still dispatched by Wen Lianchang. If she confessed Zhu Ziming's identity now, Qin Zhen might turn around and report it to Wen Lianchang... That wouldn't be good.

Moreover, Zhu Ziming was using a fake identity because the Xu family was looking for him, constantly thinking about dragging him back to inherit the family business. This point was in the original plot and should not have deviated.

Since she wanted to make money, he wanted to pursue his dream, and they both wanted to break off their engagement with each other, why shouldn't she help him hide?

Having made her decision, Wen Shixue no longer hesitated and was even in the mood to compliment Qin Zhen: "Our Vice President Qin is really beautiful."

Qin Zhen glanced at her: "President Wen should think more about work matters."

Wen Shixue: "Haven't I thought it all through? We're talking to Miss Lin's family for the first order."

The young ladies in the socialite circle loved jewelry the most, and many young masters also liked it, buying it for collection even if they didn't wear it. They often knew each other and occasionally held tea parties and banquets, providing plenty of opportunities to showcase their jewelry. Therefore, they were the customer group with the strongest spending power and a certain degree of publicity value.

Chenfeng's first order was intended to target these young masters and ladies, introducing them to Chenfeng's works, giving them a preliminary understanding of Chenfeng's designs, thereby generating purchase interest, and then developing them into long-term customers based on the products.

Miss Lin, for the first order, was the person in the circle who liked jewelry the most. Wen Shixue had met her at various banquets, and they were familiar with each other. Moreover, she always liked to socialize, so approaching her first was the most suitable choice.

...

Two weeks later, Wen Shixue and Qin Zhen, carrying three sets of works from the design department, visited as scheduled. With the identity of Miss Wen, they successfully met Miss Lin, Lin Jiayu, and were warmly received.

Lin Jiayu was immediately attracted by Zhu Ziming's work. It was a pair of elegant and dignified purple sapphire iris earrings. A galaxy of scattered diamonds flowed over the blooming purple petals, the galaxy flowing down the tips of the petals, converging into a white teardrop, dangling precariously at the petal tips, revealing a hint of lively cuteness.

From Lin Jiayu's surprised expression, Wen Shixue knew that this matter was settled.

Finally, Lin Jiayu bought this pair of earrings and also commissioned Zhu Ziming to design a set of jewelry for an evening party. The terms were clearly stated, and a deposit was paid. All that was left was for Chenfeng to deliver the finished product.

Riding the wave of the male lead's halo, Wen Shixue successfully secured the first order. She knew Lin Jiayu's personality; once she was happy with the product, she would definitely recommend it to those around her, allowing Chenfeng's name to be known by more wealthy young ladies and masters.

She wouldn't just promote within her own circle, but in others' as well! She wouldn't let any potential business genius slip away!

Successfully closing the first deal gave Wen Shixue ample confidence, and her steps back to the office were light and cheerful.

Qin Zhen let her be happy for a while before speaking up to remind her: "You can temper your excitement appropriately. It's not too late to be fully happy after the money and goods have been exchanged."

The implication was to remind her not to be too happy before the transaction was completed, because accidents could happen at any time. Fortunately, she said it tactfully, so it didn't sound too discouraging.

Wen Shixue turned back and glanced at her, feeling happy inside. Giving her face, she restrained her smile and walked into the office with a feigned serious expression.

Qin Zhen gazed at the door of her office, and in the end, said nothing, returning to her own office.

Two days later, the accident indeed came—Lin Jiayu cancelled the order.

It was sudden and caught them off guard.

Wen Shixue sat at home, looking up at the moon in the sky, unable to find the reason for a while.

In these two days, Chenfeng hadn't had any problems, and their relationship with Lin Jiayu was very friendly. So why would Lin Jiayu suddenly say she didn't want it? She had clearly liked Zhu Ziming's design so much that day...

Wen Shixue narrowed her eyes, unable to find a clue. She turned around and picked up the phone, intending to call Qin Zhen to discuss it, but unexpectedly, Qin Zhen called first, immediately clearing up her confusion.

"It's Wen Jian," Qin Zhen said.

Her "good" cousin.
