PANT - Chapter 53
Chapter 53
Shi Ning stood downstairs in the residential complex, looking at her phone.
The phone’s notification light blinked, but Su Tianxue still hadn’t replied to her message.
After waiting quietly for a moment, Shi Ning turned and went upstairs without a second thought.
She stood at the door, calming herself and counting down from three before reaching out to knock on Su Tianxue’s door.
Knock, knock, knock.
Never before had Shi Ning felt so excited while standing at this door.
From inside, Su Tianxue’s voice called out, “Who is it?”
Shi Ning replied, “It’s me.”
The door opened at the sound of her voice.
Su Tianxue asked, “Did you forget something?”
Shi Ning’s lips curved. “Yes, I left my wife behind.”
Su Tianxue gave a helpless smile. “You came all the way back upstairs just to say that?”
“Of course not,” Shi Ning said.
She took a step forward, until only the threshold separated her from Su Tianxue, who stood just inside.
Su Tianxue didn’t understand why Shi Ning seemed so nervous right now.
She leaned against the side of the doorframe, her posture relaxed and languid. “Then why?”
Shi Ning reached out and touched Su Tianxue’s long hair.
Her fingers followed the waves Su Tianxue had deliberately curled into her hair that day, tracing them up and down. The curls fit perfectly against her fingertips, winding around them again and again, like some unbreakable thread of fate.
The thread in Shi Ning’s heart tightened along with the strands of hair wrapped around her fingers, coiling around her vigorously beating heart and leaving bloody marks upon it.
When Shi Ning spoke, even her breathing was light.
Perhaps she was afraid of disturbing another heartbeat, one that throbbed quietly behind her words.
She said, “Because I saw the moon and suddenly wanted to kiss you.”
Shi Ning’s eyes were as deep as the sea. Its waves enveloped Su Tianxue, followed by her scent—the scent of the ocean—which came rushing in, coating her like a layer of sugar. Her entire being felt as if it were sinking into a sponge, or being gently pulled down into a swamp made of water, sinking to the very bottom.
Su Tianxue said, “Although those two things aren’t necessarily related, Shi Ning, since when did you become so polite?”
Shi Ning chuckled softly. “So you agree?”
After that, Su Tianxue’s response could no longer be heard, nor could her words be made out clearly.
The long hair wrapped around Shi Ning’s fingertips cascaded down, layer by layer—soft, romantic, like falling snow.
But the hand was not so gentle. With a forceful and undeniable air, it cupped the back of the hair owner’s head. There in the entryway, she used her body and the wall to section off a small space, creating a miniature prison in which to capture a snowflake and taste its flavor.
The door was, of course, closed.
A person as rational as Su Tianxue couldn’t clearly recall when the door had been shut.
All she knew was that in the dizzying moment of the kiss, as her breathing grew unsteady, as her heart raced, as the soft clouds were mercilessly pressed through the fabric…
The second before the floodgates opened, her gaze had lingered on the door.
The door was shut tight, sealed, blocking all prying eyes and transforming this space into a playground for lovers.
People often say that couples who kiss at the very top of a Ferris wheel will stay together for a long, long time.
In truth, when a couple is truly lost in the heat of a kiss, they couldn’t care less whether they are on a Ferris wheel or solid ground. All that exists is the desire in their hearts to be entwined to the death.
How does one stop time?
With a kiss.
A kiss on a Ferris wheel can make one forget the birds in the sky and the people on the ground, forget the end, and thus reach eternity.
In reality, no matter where they kiss, people in love can dissolve their connection to the world, leaving only the connection between themselves, in the breath between their lips, in the sound of stirring water.
This time, Shi Ning’s kiss was more tender and more passionate than ever before.
Su Tianxue didn’t understand why, but she accepted it with pleasure.
In fact, from the very beginning, she had rarely refused Shi Ning.
She was not someone who was bad at saying no, and she had her own principles and boundaries. But strangely, Shi Ning was a fire, sometimes fierce, sometimes gentle, that burned away the limits she had set, devouring her bit by bit with passion and tenderness.
Her instincts screamed at her to turn the tables, to get on top, but her…
Her eyes, shimmering with moisture from the kiss, the crimson blush at their corners, her unsteady breathing, and—
Shi Ning knew she had lost some control this time.
For the first time, this home had become a place where only the two of them existed.
Shi Ning still remembered pressing Su Tianxue against the door panel, her knee pushing into softness.
She also remembered the lingering kisses they had shared in the bedroom, not daring to make a sound in the dead of night.
But it had never been like this.
From the entryway to the dining table, the woman’s waist was like a supple willow branch, able to bend backward with ease, as if it would never break.
She wasn’t heavy, either. A hand on her waist was all it took to lift her up.
Sitting her on the dining table was a simple matter.
In her moment of slight panic, Shi Ning moved forward, her hands expertly gripping the base of her thighs, and the next second, she was wrapped around her.
Then she kissed her again, as if she meant to devour her whole.
Su Tianxue finally found a gap. She pulled back the tip of her tongue, which couldn’t help but entangle with the other’s. Her breathing was unsteady, like someone bobbing in the waves, and her voice was tinged with a moist quality.
“Are you crazy?” Su Tianxue asked.
Shi Ning’s thumb gently caressed the corner of Su Tianxue’s mouth. They had kissed so forcefully just now that the woman’s lips were almost swollen, looking fuller and plumper than usual.
Her thumb was stained with moisture.
Further down, along the new clothes, if one were to venture to deeper places, one would also touch a pool of water.
It was the same, above or below.
An ancient poet once wrote, “Steam rises from the Cloud Dream Lake, its waves shake Yueyang City.”
But if you asked Shi Ning, that line of poetry could certainly be changed.
A finger touches the Cloud Dream Lake, its waves shaking her lips and tongue.
Shi Ning licked the moisture from her hand and gazed at Su Tianxue, the desire in her eyes deep and dark. “Wife, you don’t like it?”
Su Tianxue was not a liar, nor was she good at it.
She avoided the question and kicked at the woman with her leg.
“Get off,” Su Tianxue said.
Shi Ning didn’t dodge, meekly accepting her shy and timid anger, and coaxed her, “Let’s do it here, okay?”
Su Tianxue: “…This is where we eat.”
Shi Ning: “It’s also where I just kissed you.”
Shi Ning: “Look how honest it is.”
A light scrape downward, and another glistening patch appeared.
Su Tianxue couldn’t stand watching the woman lick it.
She turned her head away.
Shi Ning buried her face in Su Tianxue’s neck, and as she spoke, her hands weren’t idle.
“Wife, a flutter of the heart is a flutter of the heart. Wanting is wanting. There’s nothing to hide from.”
She gave Su Tianxue a peck, and when she pulled away, it made a soft popping sound.
“Just once. I promise I’ll clean up properly so Su Wanxing won’t find out.”
Su Tianxue thought to herself, Shi Ning still dares to mention Su Wanxing.
Did she have any idea what would happen if they were so reckless and Su Wanxing came back and saw them?
Or what if Su Wanxing discovered something somewhere else in the house?
Shi Ning probably knew what Su Tianxue was thinking, because she chuckled lightly. “Wife, I’m very smart.”
“If Su Wanxing comes back, I’ll definitely stop before she opens the door.”
Su Tianxue: “Would stopping even help?”
Was Su Wanxing blind?
Shi Ning feigned innocence. “Then what do you suggest we do?”
Su Tianxue: “…”
Su Tianxue: “If you really want to discuss this with me, can you stop first?”
Shi Ning: “No.”
Shi Ning: “My hands and my mouth, one of them has to be on the move.”
After that, Su Tianxue was completely unable to discuss the matter any further.
Her thoughts, her spirit, her attention—all of it was captivated by Shi Ning’s actions.
She couldn’t spare a single shred of focus for anything unrelated to this descent into indulgence.
Demons are demons not because they are sufficiently cruel, bloody, or have methods beyond human imagination.
They are demons because they have faces that are impossible to refuse, and the words they speak can always make people fall.
They know how to amplify the hidden darkness in people’s hearts, and they know how to lead angels from sanctity to depravity.
Seeking pleasure is their nature.
Just like Shi Ning at this moment.
The story at the dining table came to an end.
But the scent in the air lingered long after.
The intermingled pheromones of two people served as a reminder of what had happened here.
Su Tianxue was covered in a thin layer of sweat. She pushed Shi Ning away.
Shi Ning lazily grabbed her wrist. “Where are you going?”
Su Tianxue shot her a look. “To take a shower.”
Shi Ning shamelessly sidled up to her, whining, “I’ll come too.”
Su Tianxue: “…”
Shi Ning: “Wife, aren’t you tired? Aren’t your legs sore? Isn’t your back weak? Don’t you need me to help you wash and scrub?”
Su Tianxue: “No, I don’t.”
Shi Ning: “Really?”
She pulled the woman back into her arms. “In that case, shall we unlock a new map?”
“Where do you like? The balcony? Or the kitchen? The study is nice too.”
Su Tianxue gritted her teeth. “Aren’t there any normal options?”
Shi Ning smiled, knowing she had won. But when she spoke, she still feigned a hint of regret. “Then I guess we’ll have to go back to your room.”
Only then did Su Tianxue realize that she had, it seemed, possibly, probably, once again fallen into the woman’s verbal trap.
Everything in the room bore witness to the birth of a new story.
The crumpled bedsheets, the blanket kicked to one side, the pillows scattered about.
The book Su Tianxue hadn’t finished, which sat on the bedside table—the brilliant galaxy on the cover of Cosmos—had somehow appeared in the room.
It flashed on the white ceiling above, a river of stars swaying, adorning the scene with a romantic air.
Su Tianxue discovered another one of Shi Ning’s flaws.
The woman didn’t keep her word.
She had promised to unlock only one map, but after they finally finished in the bedroom, they somehow started again in the bathroom.
There was no bathtub in the house.
The round showerhead hung overhead, and when the water came out, it poured straight down, drenching the person standing beneath it like a drowned rat.
Fortunately, the spray was gentle and fine, so it didn’t hurt when it hit the skin.
What really hurt was something else.
For a moment, Su Tianxue thought this shower was definitely a waste of time.
She felt that today’s Shi Ning was really a bit abnormal.
She had been like this before, saying some outrageous things, but never to this extent.
—If Alphas could get pregnant, wife, I’d want an early taste of the milk our daughter would drink.
She could even say such ridiculous things that defied all biological sense!
When everything was finally over, Su Tianxue sat on the sofa. Shi Ning, having shed her earlier assertiveness, was now meekly blow-drying Su Tianxue’s hair.
The air from the dryer was warm. Afraid of burning Su Tianxue, Shi Ning held the nozzle far away, constantly using her own palm to test the temperature of the airflow.
Su Tianxue was resting with her eyes closed.
But the moment she closed them, chaotic images filled her mind.
There was no way to rest her mind at all.
Closing her eyes was more draining than restful.
Seeing Su Tianxue open her eyes, Shi Ning asked obediently, “Wife, are you well-rested?”
Su Tianxue was wary. “No more.”
Shi Ning didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “I wasn’t thinking about that.”
She asked curiously, “Did you not see the message I sent you?”
Su Tianxue was blank. “What message?”
Shi Ning: “Nothing.”
Su Tianxue wanted to find her phone, but Shi Ning held her down. “Let’s dry your hair first, or you’ll catch a cold.”
Su Tianxue sneered, “Why didn’t you have that awareness in the bathroom just now?”
As if that wouldn’t have given her a cold?
Shi Ning said righteously, “Weren’t we doing aerobic exercise just now?”
Su Tianxue: “…”
She really couldn’t win an argument with this person.
Shi Ning: “What were you doing before I came up?”
Su Tianxue: “You bought too many things. I was putting them away.”
Only then did Shi Ning notice that the pile of shopping bags she had brought up was still in the living room.
Shi Ning stroked Su Tianxue’s hair. Except for the slightly damp ends, the rest was dry and smooth again.
She turned off the hairdryer, and the annoying roar vanished.
Shi Ning came up from behind and hugged Su Tianxue like a large koala. She kissed Su Tianxue’s earlobe. “Wife, do you like the things I bought?”
Su Tianxue: “Yes.”
Shi Ning: “You like all of them?”
Su Tianxue faintly sensed that something was off.
Su Tianxue: “…What else did you buy besides clothes and perfume?”
Shi Ning: “Some special gifts.”
Su Tianxue turned her head to look at Shi Ning. Taking advantage of the position, Shi Ning planted a kiss on her lips. “Will you wear it for me? Please?”
Su Tianxue subconsciously replied, “No.”
Shi Ning didn’t insist. She said, “Then I’ll wear it for you, okay?”
Su Tianxue: “…”
That was an option?
Shi Ning said pitifully, “You don’t want to see?”
Shi Ning: “No wonder you said you wanted to be friends with me. So my… body has no appeal to you anymore?”
Suddenly saddled with such a heavy accusation, Su Tianxue said helplessly, “Fine, you wear it.”
Shi Ning happily kissed Su Tianxue’s cheek, hopped off the sofa, grabbed a bag, and rushed into the bedroom to change.
Su Tianxue thought, I thought she was going to change right in front of me.
Once Shi Ning was gone, Su Tianxue shook her head with a smile. She stood up, looked around, and searched for her long-forgotten phone.
Finally, she found it in the crack of the sofa.
She opened it to find many messages from Su Wanxing.
Su Wanxing: Sister, I’m going out to eat with Zhu Yu. Don’t worry.
Su Wanxing: Sister, has Shi Ning left?
Su Wanxing: Uh, do I need to come back tonight?
About an hour later…
Su Wanxing: Sis, I get it.
Su Wanxing: I’ll just stay at Zhu Yu’s place tonight. You don’t have to worry about me.
Su Wanxing: Hope you have fun :)
For some reason, Su Tianxue felt that the smiley face Su Wanxing sent at the end had a hint of gossip to it.
Su Tianxue sent her sister a sticker in reply, then opened the group chat 【The Loving Wives and Their Four Single Friends】, intending to add Zhu Yu as a friend through the group.
It failed.
Having no other choice, Su Tianxue had to speak in the group.
【The Loving Wives and Their Four Single Friends】
Su Tianxue: @Zhu Yu, thank you for taking care of my sister.
It was now one in the morning.
Zhu Yu didn’t reply, probably asleep.
Xin Ya was very active.
Xin Ya: Whoa whoa whoa!! What’s going on here!!!
Xin Ya: Good evening, Sister Su~ Your beauty is like a rose, blooming in my garden~~
Zhou Lu: ?
Su Tianxue: Good evening.
After replying, she exited the group chat. Fearing Xin Ya would be too talkative, she muted the group’s notifications.
After doing all that, she finally opened her chat with Shi Ning.
Big Liar: The moon is really beautiful tonight.
Big Liar: Wife, if I turn around and come upstairs now, is it still too late?
Su Tianxue looked at the messages, wondering if this counted as a successful confession.
Love wasn’t like an experiment, with clear rules, a precise goal, and verifiable indicators.
Su Tianxue pursed her lips.
Beside her ear, a crisp sound rang out.
It was Shi Ning snapping her fingers. She had, at some point, started playing a song on her phone.
“Only in My Dreams” by The Marias.
Vaporwave was born in the music, and the atmosphere in the room began to turn psychedelic.
Though it was the dead of night, it felt like dusk. Waves kissed the beach beside them, and the sunset glow merged with the distant ocean horizon, never to be separated again.
Shi Ning was dressed in black, a special kind of black, with meticulously crocheted lace that carried a hint of ambiguity.
The way she was dressed now was very similar to how she looked when Su Tianxue first met her.
Only back then, it was mostly leather, which gave off a cold vibe.
Now, it was entwined with lace, adding a touch of charm.
A cat-ear headband sat on Shi Ning’s head, and a tail swished back and forth—it was electric and very flexible.
Shi Ning wasn’t the least bit shy. She was practiced and at ease, generously displaying her beauty. She looked at Su Tianxue. “Do you like it?”
Su Tianxue: “Yes.”
Shi Ning smiled. “I originally bought it for you. I don’t know how it ended up on me.”
Shi Ning: “It’s not strange, is it?”
Su Tianxue: “It suits you well.”
Su Tianxue stood where she was, watching Shi Ning walk over, watching her reach out a hand, place it on her shoulder, and give a gentle push backward.
As if under a spell, she fell right onto the sofa.
Shi Ning’s fluffy cat tail brushed against Su Tianxue’s wrist.
Shi Ning: “Hey beautiful, how about I, this pretty kitty, play with you today?”
Su Tianxue: “…We agreed no more.”
She had her principles.
Shi Ning: “What bad intentions could a kitty have? She just wants to be close to her owner.”
Su Tianxue: “Speak like a human.”
Shi Ning refused.
She licked the back of Su Tianxue’s hand. “Meow.”
Su Tianxue felt like she was going crazy.
Shi Ning: “Woman, you have such a cruel heart. How could you reject a cat?”
Shi Ning leaned in close to Su Tianxue’s mouth and said, “Or is it that you don’t like cats? You prefer something else?”
“A puppy? A big bad wolf? A lion?”
“Wife, what do you like?”
Su Tianxue surrendered.
Su Tianxue: “How do you want to play?”
Shi Ning: “Meow meow?”
Su Tianxue awkwardly reached out and touched Shi Ning’s cat ears. She paused, then gave them a squeeze and said softly, “I’ll play along with you to the end.”
Shi Ning lowered her head, hiding a mischievous smile.
She knew it—
If Su Tianxue really had a cat and became its owner, she would probably be the type to set rules for the cat while simultaneously indulging it, letting it fly around, do parkour in the house, and knead on her whenever it pleased.
She was exactly the kind of person who, no matter how outrageous or absurd the request, would say no but still give in bit by bit, playing along, going crazy with her.
When Su Tianxue woke up again, she didn’t know why, but the cat costume was now on her.
Shi Ning was hugging her, taking a selfie with her phone.
Su Tianxue reached out to grab it, but Shi Ning pressed the shutter button, grinning like a cat that had stolen the cream.
Shi Ning promised seriously, “I’ll send it to you right away, AirDrop. I don’t want the internet police to see this picture.”
Su Tianxue: Idiot.
Su Tianxue reached up, pulled the headband off her head, and tossed it away.
Shi Ning said with great regret, “Wife, weren’t you having a lot of fun meowing just now?”
Su Tianxue was indignant. “Who was having fun?”
She- she was clearly forced, okay?
Shi Ning started singing obnoxiously, “Let’s learn to meow together, meow meow meow~”
Su Tianxue kicked Shi Ning off the bed with one foot.
When a tiger doesn’t show its teeth, do you really think it’s a sick cat?
Shi Ning landed on her tailbone and sucked in a sharp breath of pain.
Su Tianxue leaned over the edge of the bed worriedly. “Did you really fall?”
Shi Ning said pitifully, “Yeah.”
Su Tianxue: “Where did you get hurt?”
Shi Ning: “I fell and broke my heart.”
Su Tianxue: “…”
Shi Ning chuckled. With one of them on the floor and the other on the bed, she reached up, wrapped her arms around Su Tianxue’s neck, and kissed her again.
Shi Ning: “Let’s go to sleep.”
Su Tianxue got up to wash up. This time, Shi Ning didn’t follow her to bother her.
She threw on some clothes, stood on the balcony, and looked up at the moon between the buildings.
The moon moved.
And so did her heart.
Shi Ning slept well all night.
Su Tianxue, for once, didn’t wake up early. When she did, Shi Ning nearly wrapped herself around her to start again.
After being pushed away, she lay in bed, watching Su Tianxue get dressed.
The woman’s face was beautiful without makeup, and beautiful right after waking up.
Beautiful no matter what.
She never got tired of looking. Every time she looked, she liked what she saw.
After washing up, Shi Ning went to make sandwiches. At this time of day, it was awkward for breakfast and awkward for lunch. So she decided to make some light food to tide them over.
After she finished, Shi Ning went to call Su Tianxue, only to find her sitting on the sofa, looking somewhat dazed.
Shi Ning couldn’t help but slow down and ask softly, “What’s wrong?”
Su Tianxue pursed her lips. “It’s nothing.”
Although she said it was nothing, her expression clearly said otherwise.
Shi Ning sighed. “Are you going to hide it from me?”
Su Tianxue hesitated for a moment. “I can handle it myself.”
Shi Ning: “Didn’t you say you wanted to start as friends with me? So, sharing your troubles with a friend is perfectly normal, right? Hmm?”
Seeing Shi Ning’s insistence, Su Tianxue nodded. After a moment of thought, she handed over her phone.
It was a long message from a younger student from her master’s program.
The sender was probably very agitated; the entire screen was filled with exclamation marks.
Shi Ning glanced at it and grasped the main point. “Someone plagiarized your thesis?”
Su Tianxue: “Yes. It’s not a big deal.”
Shi Ning was displeased. “How is it not?”
“He’s openly infringing on your intellectual property rights.”
Su Tianxue said helplessly, “He was my professor in university.”
Shi Ning: “…Huh?”
The story was simple. This university professor had embellished and polished a paper Su Tianxue had completed during her undergraduate studies—the framework and prototype—and submitted it for a competition, and now he had won an award.
The younger student had previously been interested in this multiverse theory research direction, so Su Tianxue had shown her the paper.
Now, as soon as the student saw the news and glanced at the research framework and theme, she was furious and ran to Su Tianxue to complain and curse.
Shi Ning looked at Su Tianxue’s expression. As the victim of plagiarism, her attitude was not as indignant as the younger student’s; instead, she seemed very calm.
Shi Ning: “Aren’t you angry?”
Su Tianxue: “I’m quite angry.”
She hadn’t expected her professor to go this far.
Shi Ning rolled up her sleeves. “Sue him!”
Su Tianxue: “Hmm?”
Shi Ning: “Plagiarism of a thesis is an act of literary theft as stipulated by the Copyright Law. You can totally sue him. Even if the lawsuit is difficult, wife, I can help you win it.”
Su Tianxue turned to look at Shi Ning and suddenly chuckled. “I’ve actually always wanted to ask you, why do you know so much about the law?”
Shi Ning faltered and cleared her throat. “I’m a law enthusiast.”
Su Tianxue: “Then why did you say you’d help me with the lawsuit? You’re not a lawyer.”
Su Tianxue’s words struck a chord in Shi Ning’s heart.
That’s right.
She wasn’t a lawyer anymore.
Shi Ning: “…I- I have a legal team. Handling an intellectual property case like this isn’t difficult.”
Su Tianxue didn’t speak, just kept looking at Shi Ning.
Her gaze made Shi Ning’s back tingle.
Shi Ning: “W-Wife, what’s wrong?”
Su Tianxue: “I’m imagining what you’d be like as a lawyer.”
Shi Ning beamed. “How is it? Are you captivated by the imaginary me?”
Su Tianxue: “Mm, I can’t imagine it at all.”
In Su Tianxue’s eyes, the law was cold, ruthless, even conservative and rigid.
She didn’t know much about it; this was probably just a prejudice.
But Shi Ning, in her eyes, was passionate, wild, and flexible.
Completely at odds with the word “law.”
So she couldn’t imagine it.
Shi Ning really wanted to say that her track record as a lawyer in her past life was excellent, and many people liked to hire her. Generally speaking, the name Shi Ning was synonymous with victory.
But she couldn’t say it.
Su Tianxue was right.
In this life, she had nothing to do with the law.
The closest connection was probably the basic legal knowledge she learned in politics class during middle and high school many years ago.
At this moment, Shi Ning truly realized it.
The thing that had accompanied her for so long, through her childhood, that had become her tool for overcoming transnational lows, and that had led her to greater heights—the law.
It was probably going to truly disappear from her life.
Did she like the law?
Shi Ning couldn’t answer in one breath.
Some would say that law is a discipline of kindness and justice.
But after so many years of struggling, falling from the peak to the valley, she had seen too many people use the law for profit.
Lawyers don’t argue for justice; they act for their clients.
For Shi Ning, being a lawyer was more like a choice to probe the boundaries of human nature.
The law cannot dictate how people should be kind, so it can only dictate how people cannot do evil.
But within that scope, things beyond imagination always happened.
She moved within that scope.
Did she like it?
If the law couldn’t make money, Shi Ning thought, she wouldn’t have taken this path.
But if she didn’t like it, she probably wouldn’t have thrown most of her twenty-eight years into it.
If she had to say something she liked, it was probably winning—winning beautifully, winning fair and square.
What if, in this world, she started over in the field of law?
The thought flashed through Shi Ning’s mind and then disappeared.
Isn’t it nice to be idle?
Always looking for trouble for herself.
Was the National Judicial Examination that easy to pass? Was being a lawyer that easy?
Didn’t you need qualifications for the exam?
Wait a minute…
What major did the Shi Ning of this world graduate with from university?
Seeing Shi Ning lost in thought, Su Tianxue couldn’t help but poke her. “What are you thinking about?”
Shi Ning said subconsciously, “I’m thinking about what major Shi Ning studied in university.”
Su Tianxue: “You studied it yourself, and you don’t know?”
Shi Ning thought, I really don’t know.
It might be because the original author never considered this in the plot, so now her mind was a blank slate on the matter. It was also possible that the original owner was so lazy in school, paid no attention at all, and just muddled through…
In short, for the moment, she really couldn’t remember what “Shi Ning” had studied.
Seeing Shi Ning like this, Su Tianxue chuckled. “So you were one of those kids who didn’t pay attention in school at all.”
Shi Ning: “Were you very diligent?”
Su Tianxue: “At least I knew what I was studying.”
Shi Ning wanted to say that this one point already put Su Tianxue above many university students she knew.
She wasn’t exaggerating. There were truly many people who, after finishing nine years of compulsory education, struggling through high school, and getting into university, would let four years fly by. Only when it was time to graduate would they start searching online: what did I actually learn in my major courses these past few years?
It wasn’t that they didn’t listen in class.
They listened.
It just went in one ear and out the other.
They didn’t take it to heart at all.
Shi Ning exclaimed, “Wife, please stop your straight-A student talk.”
Su Tianxue: She had no idea which of her words had anything to do with being a straight-A student.
Shi Ning: “Are you really not going to pursue this with him?”
Su Tianxue: “Not exactly. I plan to talk to him first.”
Shi Ning snorted. “Go ahead and talk.”
Su Tianxue forwarded the news of the award-winning paper to this professor.
Then, Shi Ning watched as a few words popped up on the screen.
—Sorry, you are no longer friends with this person. Please add them as a friend first.
Shi Ning was so angry she laughed. “What does this idiot mean by this?”
Su Tianxue pursed her lips and turned to ask Shi Ning a question. “If I want to sue him, is it expensive?”
Shi Ning: “Not expensive.”
With her around, there was nothing that could be called expensive.
Su Tianxue stared at the screen for a moment, then said, “Shi Ning, I want to sue him. Can you help me?”
Shi Ning: “Of course.”
She took Su Tianxue’s phone to have a look. She had originally wanted to see her conversation with the younger student to look for clues, but as soon as she switched to the contact list, she was stunned.
Her profile picture was at the very top of all the contacts.
The chat box had a dark gray background.
The contact name was: Big Liar.
Su Tianxue realized this too and snatched the phone back.
Shi Ning: “Big Liar? Hmm?”
Su Tianxue looked away.
Shi Ning: “What did I lie to you about?”
Su Tianxue: “…”
Shi Ning: “Hmph!”
Su Tianxue: “I’ll change it.”
Shi Ning’s smile widened. “Change it to ‘Super Incredibly Beautiful, Handsome, Seven-Times-a-Night, Super Awesome Dear Wife.’”
Su Tianxue: “Too many characters, exceeds the limit.”
Shi Ning: “Then you can be creative.”
Su Tianxue thought for a moment, then asked Shi Ning, “What’s my contact name in your phone? Let me see, for reference.”
Shi Ning, not worried in the slightest, took out her own phone, unlocked it with face recognition, and handed it to Su Tianxue.
The next second, she regretted it.
Because Su Tianxue read her contact name out loud: “Big Ice Cube?”
As she said it, there seemed to be a cold smile in her voice.
Shi Ning reached up to touch her nose, her gaze wandering.
Su Tianxue added, “You didn’t pin me.”
Shi Ning’s heart skipped a beat.
She explained, “Wife, hardly anyone ever chats with me, so I can see your messages right away even without pinning you. Give me the phone, I’ll pin you right now.”
Su Tianxue: “Hardly anyone chats with you?”
Su Tianxue smiled, a smile that made Shi Ning feel very uneasy.
She handed the phone over, and Mo Lingyuan’s latest message popped up at the top.
Mo Lingyuan: Are you free?
Mo Lingyuan: Come out for a drink.
…………
Damn, damn, damn, damn, damn!!!
Shi Ning swallowed hard. She reached out, tapped the voice message button on the screen, and said, “Mo Lingyuan, we’re not close. I’m not drinking with you. Besides, I’m with my wife.”
Mo Lingyuan replied quickly.
Mo Lingyuan: Bring your wife along.
Mo Lingyuan: I miss your wife too.
Shi Ning’s fists clenched.
She said angrily, “Wife, give me the phone, I’m going to curse her out!”
Su Tianxue ignored her completely, her thumb pressing lightly on the screen to send a voice message.
“I’m her wife. Send me the address. We’re coming over.”
Mo Lingyuan: [Lustful emoji]
Mo Lingyuan: [Heart emoji]
Mo Lingyuan: Sister Su~~ Come quickly~~~
Shi Ning was in disbelief. “Wife!!!”
How could she do this!!!
Letting Su Tianxue and Mo Lingyuan drink together…
Damn it, has this world gone mad?
Shi Ning felt that, when the time came, only one person would be unlucky: her.
No matter if Mo Lingyuan was going crazy today to mess with her or her wife, in the end, she would be the only one to suffer.
Shi Ning said righteously, “Wife, don’t mind her. Quick, unsend it.”
The voice message had been sent less than two minutes ago! It could still be unsent!
Su Tianxue smiled. “Don’t call me wife.”
“I’m a Big Ice Cube, not a wife.”
