TIMO - Chapter 88
Chapter 88
Fu Zhao’s first susceptibility period arrived unexpectedly within the first two hours of the early 52nd century.
Of all the times it could have happened.
She had clearly made every preparation, researched all the information, yet when her susceptibility period arrived, she didn’t notice it right away.
Instead, it was Shi Nan who discovered it first.
Perhaps she had been too excited tonight, so excited that she hadn’t sensed anything wrong with her own body.
Not until Shi Nan said the words “susceptibility period.”
Only then did she realize that a stuffy, oppressive feeling was starting to fill her entire body. She was restless and agitated, as if something in her blood was stirring restlessly.
Her whole body also seemed to be burning up.
All she wanted was to press herself against Shi Nan, who felt cool to the touch.
Realizing this, Fu Zhao abruptly let go of Shi Nan, putting distance between them. She bit her tongue hard to clear her head, then subconsciously raised a hand to cover the back of her neck. A damp heat met her touch, and the several layers of isolation patches she wore there showed faint signs of being soaked through.
“I’m going to… head back first.” She managed to lift her eyes, trying her best to remain lucid. “I don’t… have any inhibitors on me.”
The few words she spoke came out with her breath, turning into white puffs in the winter air.
She didn’t quite dare to look at Shi Nan and quickly turned around.
But the next second, Fu Zhao’s steps halted. Her hand was taken, and cool fingertips gently scratched her palm in a soothing gesture.
Her entire body began to shake, trembling uncontrollably.
Her throat was dry, as if she had swallowed a scorching furnace. Every word she spoke required a slow breath, otherwise it would come out as hoarse as a beast’s roar.
“I’ll have…” She took a breath, her fingertips curling unconsciously. “Jiang Wenqing take you home.”
“Home to where?”
Shi Nan asked from behind her, her voice soft.
Then came the sound of footsteps, drawing closer and closer, accompanied by warm breath, arms wrapping around her waist, and a head slowly resting against her back.
The touch was soft.
In an instant, the fine hairs on her body stood on end.
Fu Zhao clenched her fingers as fine beads of sweat began to form on her forehead. She panted, but couldn’t say a word.
It was Shi Nan who spoke first. Her lazy words and warm breath traveled up Fu Zhao’s spine, seeming to seep in through her open pores.
“I am your legal wife now.”
“I should go back with you.”
Fu Zhao understood what Shi Nan meant.
But clearly, the panic of facing her first susceptibility period had shattered all the preparations she had made.
Amidst the agitation, stuffiness, and unease coursing through her body…
She couldn’t guarantee that she could control herself and not hurt Shi Nan.
Especially since today was such an important day.
How could she let this uncontrollable instinct of hers hurt Shi Nan?
So, although she felt extremely apologetic, she gritted her teeth, shook off Shi Nan’s hand, and ran back home by herself.
“Bang-”
After the main door closed, the sound of the smart lock engaging automatically clicked shut.
Fu Zhao let out a sigh of relief. The heat surging from within her intensified, but at least she was alone now, shut in an enclosed space.
She wouldn’t hurt anyone else.
And she wouldn’t… let Shi Nan see her in this rather unsightly state.
It was definitely unsightly.
Flushed all over, drenched in hot sweat, eyes bloodshot- how could that possibly look good?
All the lights in the house turned on automatically.
They were glaringly bright.
Fu Zhao naturally saw her own reflection in the full-length mirror in front of her. Her hair was completely soaked with sweat, sticking to her cheeks. Her back was hunched over, unable to straighten, and the corners of her eyes were red.
Completely different from her normal self.
Even she found the sight unfamiliar.
Seeing herself in a susceptibility period for the first time, Fu Zhao had to admit that deep down, she found it a little hard to accept.
But there was no time to dwell on such things now.
She took a few gasping breaths and went upstairs to find the inhibitors she had prepared. To prevent this very situation, she had long since stocked her room with various types of inhibitors, and even had the potent inhibitors Doctor Liu had prescribed for her.
She had been afraid that as an Alpha who differentiated late, she might encounter problems during her first susceptibility period, so she had prepared thoroughly. If the regular inhibitors didn’t work, she would have the potent ones as a backup.
The closet, the nightstand, the desk…
They were gone.
How could they be gone?
Frantic, Fu Zhao searched every corner of the room but couldn’t find the inhibitors she had prepared.
She clearly remembered putting them in all these places. How could they be missing?
If they were gone, what was she supposed to do?
Right, she could call Jiang Wenqing and have her bring some over.
Phone… where was her phone?
Fu Zhao searched in a panic.
Until she turned her head and saw Shi Nan standing behind her in the doorway.
She was looking at her with those clear, misty eyes. Her profile was cast in a hazy glow by the dim yellow lamplight, her skin smooth and fair, as if her entire being was radiating a captivating light.
Just one glance, and the agitation in her heart intensified.
Fu Zhao bit her lower lip hard, her eyes starting to burn. “Why… why are you here?”
“I… right now…” She could almost feel the heat in her eyes, the moisture, and her breathing growing heavier.
“I don’t look very good.”
She seemed to have used all her strength to say that sentence, but the Shi Nan before her showed no intention of leaving. Instead, she slowly walked over, wrapped her arms around her with a gentle force, and lightly patted her back.
“Where do you not look good?”
Shi Nan’s voice was very soft, as if she were coaxing a child. “How could you possibly not look good?”
“You’re beautiful, even now.”
Fu Zhao clenched her fists. The fine beads of sweat on her temples trickled down along her brow bone and the corners of her eyes, mixing with hot tears that came from nowhere, falling one by one.
From her jawline to her neck, everything was sticky with sweat.
Her whole body was still burning up.
But the furnace in her throat was soothed by Shi Nan’s few soft words, reduced to scattered sparks, turning into unstoppable whimpers.
She clutched the corner of Shi Nan’s shirt, managing to lift her eyelids just enough to keep the sobs in her throat from escaping. “My… my inhibitors are gone.”
Shi Nan looked over, a watery light seeming to shimmer in her eyes, and spoke softly, “When I was in heat before, you helped me too.”
The fingers clutching her shirt stiffened. Fu Zhao’s lips pressed into a tight line. “This isn’t… the same.”
“How is it not the same?” Shi Nan seemed very patient, blinking at her. “Besides, we’re already legal wives. It’s perfectly normal for me to help you through your susceptibility period.”
“What are you afraid of?” she asked again, her voice warm.
Fu Zhao’s lips moved twice, but she didn’t know what to say. She simply gave in and hugged Shi Nan tightly, closing her eyes and nuzzling into the crook of Shi Nan’s shoulder.
“I’m afraid I’ll hurt you.”
“And…” She lifted her still-trembling hand and covered Shi Nan’s eyes with her palm.
Shi Nan seemed a little surprised and blinked gently.
As her long, slender eyelashes brushed against the soft palm, Fu Zhao’s hand trembled abruptly. She buried her face in Shi Nan’s shoulder and spoke in a muffled voice.
“I’m really ugly right now.”
“I never thought a susceptibility period would be this ugly.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Shi Nan’s shoulders trembled, and a soft, lazy laugh reached her ears. Then, a gentle voice sounded.
“Then did you also think I was ugly when I was in heat?”
That one lighthearted question threw all of Fu Zhao’s awkwardness into disarray. She bit her lip, the heat of her susceptibility period easing considerably as she leaned against Shi Nan.
“How could you be ugly?” she said.
“Exactly,” Shi Nan replied, smoothing down Fu Zhao’s sweat-soaked hair. The cool touch of her fingertips on Fu Zhao’s skin was more comfortable than she had imagined.
“That time you were drunk and crying for me, I thought you were very cute. Never mind coaxing you for three hours, I would have been willing to coax you for three days and three nights.”
“It’s the same now. You’re as cute as ever.”
“Fu Zhao…”
Shi Nan called her name softly, then slowly and methodically peeled off the layers of isolation patches that had long since stuck together on the back of her neck. Her voice was gentle and smooth.
“Compared to you acting mature and showing that you don’t need me, I prefer it when you need me like this.”
“I don’t need you to be a mature lover, and I don’t need you to only consider my feelings while suppressing all of your own emotions deep down. Even if you’re willing to do that, I don’t want you to.”
“Because the one I love is all of you.”
“The you who has all sorts of emotions. I don’t need you to be mature. I need you to need me.”
Listening to Shi Nan’s words, Fu Zhao lowered her lashes. The fingers clutching the corner of the shirt suddenly relaxed. She could feel that after the isolation patches were completely removed, a fluid was continuously seeping from the soft flesh on the back of her neck, sticky and uncomfortable.
The room was instantly filled with pheromones.
Mellow and rich- this was her pheromone.
Then, another pheromone, imbued with sweetness, leaked out, mingling and mixing with the tea fragrance that filled the room.
The resulting scent was surprisingly pleasant.
She looked at Shi Nan with reddened eyes, but couldn’t utter a single word.
For the past few years, she had always tried not to disturb Shi Nan, and so she had grown accustomed to hiding her emotions deep inside, almost to the point of deceiving herself.
Making herself believe that she was already a mature lover who didn’t need to be coaxed.
But in the end, she was still not that mature.
She longed to be coaxed, longed for Shi Nan. It was just that she was always too shy to admit it, as if something bad would happen if she expressed her emotions.
But now, in this situation, she had to admit that Shi Nan was right.
Right now, she needed Shi Nan.
Perhaps sensing she had her tacit approval, Shi Nan guided her to lean against the edge of the bed. She gazed at her quietly, her eyes gentle and full of affection.
Then, she lifted her leg and sat on top of her. Her lowered eyes shimmered with a clear, watery light, and strands of soft hair fell onto Fu Zhao’s shoulder.
The cool pads of her fingers helped wipe away the fluid that had started to trickle down the back of her neck. Her other hand cupped Fu Zhao’s cheek, wiping away the lingering teardrops at the corners of her eyes as she spoke softly.
“I forgot to tell you, when I came back to get my documents earlier, I threw away all of your inhibitors.”
“If you need one, I’d like to apply to be your inhibitor from now on.”
