DDT - Chapter 33

Chapter 33: School Tyrant × The Pushover (10)

When Chi Junluo heard Yi Shuhan's firm declaration that they would work hard to run away together and leave this place, her heart couldn't help but flutter.

But she knew that, in this moment, she was in no position to make a promise.

Seeing Chi Junluo lower her eyes without refuting her suggestion, Yi Shuhan took it as tacit agreement to her decision.

Yi Shuhan never would have imagined that while she was diligently writing this person into her future, into her life, her own name was absent from the future of the person before her. Or rather, the person before her had no future.

Yi Shuhan took Chi Junluo's silence as approval of her brilliant decision and nodded in satisfaction. This was the first friend she had ever acknowledged in her life; naturally, she had to plan and consider things carefully for her friend.

Seeing that it was truly getting late, Yi Shuhan stretched her limbs and prepared to sling her schoolbag over her shoulder and leave Chi Junluo's home.

As Yi Shuhan reached for the schoolbag she had previously set by the bed, Chi Junluo reached out and stopped her.

Seeing Chi Junluo prevent her from taking her bag, Yi Shuhan wore a puzzled expression. She tilted her head slightly and asked, "Is there something else?"

Chi Junluo nodded. "Shuhan, it's too late now. I'm worried about you taking the bus back alone. If you don't mind, you can stay here tonight."

After a moment's thought, Chi Junluo added, "You can rest easy. My dad won't be back tonight."

To be honest, this was the first time in Yi Shuhan's life that she had ever been to a friend's house. She was already a little excited. Adding to that the heartfelt words Chi Junluo had shared with her tonight—words clearly not meant for outsiders—and the fact that Chi Junluo had saved her from a terrible situation before, Yi Shuhan had already categorized Chi Junluo as one of her closest friends.

Now, beyond all expectations, not only did she have her first friend, but this friend was also inviting her to spend the night.

A sleepover at a friend's house! What a novel experience!

"No, why would I mind?" Yi Shuhan said, a little shyly. "I was afraid you might mind having me."

At this moment, Yi Shuhan had shed her earlier seriousness, leaving only her cuteness behind.

Chi Junluo stood up and looked at the petite Yi Shuhan before her, a smile in her eyes.

Chi Junluo reached out a paw and gently stroked the soft hair on Yi Shuhan's head, smiling. "Alright, let's not talk about minding this or that. I have a new toothbrush and towel I bought earlier. It's getting late, you should wash up and get ready for bed."

Feeling the warmth on her head, Yi Shuhan surprisingly felt no resistance or aversion. You had to know, she used to hate it when people touched her head.

Could this be the power of "friendship"?

Led by Chi Junluo, Yi Shuhan quickly and efficiently washed up, then obediently climbed into Chi Junluo's bed.

Chi Junluo's single bed was rather small, just barely big enough for two slender girls to lie flat on it.

After Chi Junluo finished washing up, she entered the room, bolted the door, and saw Yi Shuhan already lying obediently in bed. A trace of warmth flashed in her eyes.

She reached out and turned off the light. The room fell dark, with only the faint, soft moonlight filtering in through the old glass window.

Using the moonlight to guide her, Chi Junluo walked to the bedside and gently got into bed. This night was also, in a true sense, the first time she had ever shared a bed with a friend.

In the twenty-plus years of her life before she jumped off that building, she could say she'd never had any good friends or besties. Therefore, tonight was a first for her, too.

With a slightly nervous heart, Chi Junluo slipped under the covers and lay ramrod straight on the outer edge of the single bed. The bed was narrow; even if Chi Junluo wanted to keep a fist's distance from Yi Shuhan, she couldn't, or she would roll off.

Yi Shuhan lay on the inner side of the bed, to Chi Junluo's left. Their arms touched, and that familiar warmth spread from the point of contact. Enveloped by the quilt, the warmth soon permeated their entire bodies. On this early spring night, such a temperature was perfectly comforting.

Both of them lay rigidly on the bed, a little nervous. Chi Junluo and Yi Shuhan tried to close their eyes and sleep, but as soon as their eyes were shut, their sense of hearing was magnified infinitely. The sound of the other person's soft breathing became incredibly clear.

They both subconsciously quieted their breathing. The mental tension made it even harder to fall asleep.

Chi Junluo secretly opened her eyes and turned her head slightly. After her eyes adjusted to the darkness, she began to idly study the contours of Yi Shuhan's face.

Long eyelashes, a straight nose, and a little bit of baby fat on her cheeks, which looked very cute.

As Chi Junluo brazenly sized her up, Yi Shuhan's left hand, hidden under the covers, twitched slightly. She could feel the person beside her gazing at her face.

What's so interesting about my face…

Yi Shuhan complained silently in her heart, but she didn't open her eyes. She felt that looking at each other in the dark would be a bit too intense.

After a short while, Yi Shuhan finally felt the gaze leave her face. She breathed a small sigh of relief, and then felt Chi Junluo's left hand fumbling to take her own right hand, which was lying stiffly at her side. Palms pressed together, the warmth intensified.

"Good night, Shuhan." Chi Junluo's unique voice came from beside her.

In all these years, it was rare for someone to wish her good night. "Good night, sweet dreams."

Yi Shuhan replied warmly, then gently squeezed her right hand in response.

Finally, exhaustion washed over them, and the two of them sank into a deep sleep in the darkness.

At dawn, as the sky was just beginning to lighten, the chirping of birds could be heard from outside the window. Chi Junluo's biological clock woke her from her dreams right on time.

Slowly opening her still-drowsy eyes, Chi Junluo was about to rub them when she realized her arm seemed to be wrapped around something.

The moment she felt the warmth in her arms, Chi Junluo's muscles tensed, and she became instantly wide awake. She lowered her head slightly and saw a fluffy head nestled against her chest, with an arm draped over her waist.

Two girls were sleeping in an intimate embrace. If it were a man and a woman, it would be a standard couple's hug.

So, was this a bestie hug? Having never been this intimate with anyone before, Chi Junluo found it incredibly novel, a feeling mixed with a bit of shyness and awkwardness.

She carefully moved Yi Shuhan's hand off her, got out of bed as quietly as possible, changed her clothes, and then pushed open the door to go wash up. She thought to herself that she should let Yi Shuhan sleep in for as long as possible.

After Chi Junluo closed the door, Yi Shuhan finally peeked her tightly shut eyes open.

She savored the feeling of being held in Chi Junluo's arms, a sense of security filled with overwhelming warmth that she found somewhat intoxicating.

After lingering in bed for a while, Yi Shuhan slowly got up and started to change her clothes.

Pushing open the door, Yi Shuhan familiarly made her way to the washroom and began her day.

In the time it took Yi Shuhan to slowly get up and wash, Chi Junluo had already deftly cleaned up the messy, annoying trash in the living room.

When Yi Shuhan came out again, she was greeted by a small, clean, and tidy living room. Judging by Chi Junluo's proficiency, it was clear that practice had made perfect.

After they packed their things, Yi Shuhan slung her bag over her shoulder and followed Chi Junluo out the door.

The urban village was a scene of "thriving" activity in the early morning. Students and office workers who woke up early were clustered in lines behind the breakfast stalls. The two of them waited in line for a while and successfully bought steamed buns, soy milk, and fried dough sticks. After a simple breakfast at the small stall, they headed to school.

When they reached the school building, they parted ways at the entrance, as they were in different classes, and went to their respective classrooms.

Away from the heroine Yi Shuhan, Chi Junluo reverted to her persona as the cold School Tyrant. With "strangers, stay away" written all over her face, Chi Junluo exuded a chilly aura as she walked to her seat. She hung her bag on the back of her chair, propped her head on her arms, and immediately fell asleep on her desk.

Except for the occasional oblivious teacher who, unable to stand her sleeping so blatantly in class, would throw a couple of chalk pieces at her, not a single student dared to disturb the great Boss Chi's nap for the entire day. Unless they had a death wish and wanted to be skinned alive by a grumpy, just-woken Chi Junluo.

The day passed just like that. Soon, it was time for school to end in the afternoon. The students stood up from their seats with excited smiles, packed their bags, and rushed out of the classroom.

Then, the students saw that the girl who had come to return Sister Chi's clothes before was once again walking against the flow of people, schoolbag on her back, heading toward their classroom.

The students: ??? Looks like there's another good show to watch!

After Yi Shuhan brushed past them, a few students sneakily turned around and followed her.

Following the route from memory, Yi Shuhan walked into Chi Junluo's classroom. Most of the students had already left. She looked toward the last row of the first group and, sure enough, that girl was asleep on her desk again.

Under the watchful eyes of the few people at the door, Yi Shuhan walked over to the sleeping Chi Junluo and nudged her.

"Luo Luo, wake up!" Yi Shuhan didn't spare her volume, shouting loudly.

Chi Junluo was woken up with a start, looking bewildered. Seeing Yi Shuhan's sudden appearance, she was doubly confused. "Shuhan?? What are you doing here?"

Yi Shuhan sat down next to her, put down her bag, and took out several sets of practice questions. "Luo Luo, wake up. I'm here to tutor you."

Chi Junluo: ??? Damn it! Who gave you permission to call me that so casually! Where does that leave my title as School Tyrant!

However, Chi Junluo didn't let it show on her face. Although she thought the name "Luo Luo" was a bit cute, since it was an affectionate nickname from the heroine, she would graciously accept it.

The students at the door: ??? What happened to Sister Chi, the big boss?? Why is she so tolerant of this girl's rudeness!

This isn't scientific!
