PANT - Chapter 20

Chapter 20

The pressure from a top-tier Alpha was a bit much for Jiang Ningran, who had been pretending to be an Omega for years. The instinct embedded in her genes, compelling her to submit, felt humiliating. Jiang Ningran’s expression twisted, her once somewhat pure and cute face now contorted and warped. She reached out, trying to pry off the foot Shi Ning had planted on her face, but Shi Ning just chuckled, crouched down, and pinned her wrist with her other foot.

The woman was truly showing no courtesy, no mercy. There was a hint of madness to her, a ruthlessness in her eyes. As she crouched down to look at her, her gaze was filled with an arrogance that made Jiang Ningran burn with jealousy.

Shi Ning propped an elbow on her knee and rested her chin in her palm, looking at Jiang Ningran as if she were a toy. “Big sis is asking you a question. Didn’t you hear me?”

When Jiang Ningran spoke, her voice was pathologically distorted. Even at a time like this, she could still laugh, a sharp and grating sound that echoed through the room. “Shi Ning, Senior Shi, you’re so protective of Su Wanxing. What, have you slept with her already? You’re a rotten person anyway. And Su Wanxing, hah, a dog will always return to its vomit. It seems that even if I prevent everything, she’ll still end up with you.”

Shi Ning rolled her eyes with an air of theatrical disdain. She took a deep breath, found she couldn’t hold it in, and let loose on Jiang Ningran. “I’ve been listening for a while now, and I haven’t understood a single word that’s come out of your damn mouth.”

“Is there something wrong with your logic? Are you missing a brain stem? I’m a normal person. When a normal person sees a lunatic bullying a young girl, is it wrong to step in? You must have a goddamn persecution complex. You see an Alpha get close to Su Wanxing and assume they’re interested in her, that they’ve slept with her.” Shi Ning sneered. “You told me to stay away from Su Wanxing before. Do you like her?”

“Let me tell you something, Jiang Ningran. From every word you’ve said, all I can hear is that you hate her. Like? Don’t make me laugh. Jiang Ningran, your love is not worth mentioning.”

Shi Ning was saying this on purpose, of course. As a transmigrator, she knew the plot, and she knew the reason for Jiang Ningran’s madness. It was nothing more than being reborn from the world of the book, unable to accept that the white moonlight she had secretly loved for years had ended up with seven partners-and she wasn’t even one of them.

Now that she was reborn, regardless of whether this Su Wanxing was the same person she knew in her past life, or whether this Su Wanxing had experienced the things from her memories, she was already looking at Su Wanxing through tainted glasses.

Shi Ning had seen plenty of people like Jiang Ningran back when she was a lawyer. They would seize on their opponent’s past mistakes to grind them into the dust, all while standing on the moral high ground, waving the banner of love and shouting slogans, when all their actions were for their own benefit.

What’s more, the current Su Wanxing hadn’t even made any mistakes yet.

She had done nothing wrong.

In this real life, Su Wanxing wasn’t following the plot at all.

And even if she did, that was her personal freedom. In the novel, the seven partners each had their own lives. What the hell did it have to do with Jiang Ningran? Wasn’t she just pissed that she wasn’t one of the seven?

Jiang Ningran was still acting crazy here, wasn’t she just trying to use the events of her past life to PUA Su Wanxing?

Since she believed she loved Su Wanxing so much, Shi Ning was going to make her see clearly that in this world, she, Jiang Ningran, was not worthy of even mentioning the word “love.”

Sure enough, the moment Shi Ning began to critique her feelings for Su Wanxing, Jiang Ningran started to writhe frantically. After being coldly subdued by Shi Ning, her eyes turned red with anger, and she screamed with all her might, “I won’t let you say that!”

“What do you know?!”

“I’ve loved her for so many years!! I’ve watched over her for so many years!! I’ve given so much for her!! What right does she have to fall in love with someone else?! And be with so many people, and-”

Shi Ning slapped Jiang Ningran across the face. “You’re like a fly. So noisy.”

“What have you given for her? Go on, tell me.”

Shi Ning wracked her brain, searching the original plot, but all she could remember was Jiang Ningran getting drunk over Su Wanxing, getting together with other women, frantically looking for substitutes while resenting Su Wanxing, and finally capturing Su Wanxing, imprisoning her, and attempting to dig out her gland.

Thinking it over, she really couldn’t see what Jiang Ningran had ever given.

Hearing Jiang Ningran’s words, the sobbing Su Wanxing froze. She clutched the pack of tissues Shi Ning had given her, the plastic wrapper crinkling in her grip. Su Wanxing pressed her lips together and looked at Jiang Ningran. “So, you’re like me… you know everything too?”

Jiang Ningran paused, then suddenly burst out laughing. “Su Wanxing, oh, Su Wanxing, is this the will of heaven? Letting you and I return to the present together.” After saying this, her eyes grew crazed, and she muttered, “I get it. It must be that my love moved the heavens. He let us both return to the past. He gave me this chance so we could be together.”

Shi Ning really couldn’t stop herself from rolling her eyes. However, not wanting to expose her identity as a transmigrator, she played dumb and said nothing. She turned to look at Su Wanxing and could tell from her expression that she had something to say.

Su Wanxing hesitated for a long time before lowering her head and saying softly, “Shi… Jiejie, can you let her go?”

Shi Ning raised her eyebrows in surprise. “Are you sure?”

Su Wanxing gave a small nod. “I have some things I want to say to her.”

Shi Ning glanced at Jiang Ningran. “It’s fine. She can hear you even while I’m stepping on her like this.”

“But…”

Shi Ning began her performance. “I don’t know what you two young people are talking about, with your ‘past lives’ and ‘heavens,’ but Su Wanxing, let me tell you. She treated you like that just now. If it happens once, it will happen a second time.” Shi Ning lowered her gaze, hiding her unpleasant emotions and shedding her gloomy aura, deliberately making her tone less heavy. “I don’t care what you’re thinking in that head of yours, Su Wanxing.”

“What she said and did just now is unforgivable.”

“And you did nothing wrong.”

Su Wanxing’s tears began to fall uncontrollably. Hearing Shi Ning say this now, she felt as if all the fear and worry that had been building up since she learned about the plot came pouring out. She felt wronged, crying a river of tears. “But, but Shi Jiejie, I was the one who initiated these things.”

“That day camping, I suddenly went into heat, so I begged Jiang Ningran to give me a temporary mark. Even… even the first day I met you, I went out drinking with Jiang Ningran, lost control again, and begged her to go to a hotel. I-”

Su Wanxing didn’t dare finish her sentence.

She was so scared.

Ever since she learned that she might end up with seven women in the future, she had been terrified. It wasn’t exciting at all; she didn’t want that kind of situation in the slightest. Just the thought of seven people doing that kind of thing to her made her feel so dirty… She was so scared, scared that maybe she was that kind of person deep down. Even though she firmly believed she wasn’t the same as the person in the book, she was still terrified that she was just that promiscuous, that she craved that sort of thing. That was why she had gotten involved with Jiang Ningran.

Su Wanxing, she wanted a normal life.

Not one like the life that had suddenly appeared in her mind, one that might belong to “her.”

Shi Ning sighed softly. She wanted to say something, but felt that her current posture was too awkward. Just as she was wondering what to do, her phone rang. She pulled it out of her pocket and saw it was a WeChat call from Su Tianxue.

Oh, boy.

Shi Ning looked at the screen and said, “Um, hold on a second.”

She reached down, unbuckled the belt from the jeans she had just changed into, and used it to tie Jiang Ningran’s wrists, binding them tightly so she couldn’t move.

Seeing this, Su Wanxing blinked in confusion.

Now tied up against the wall, Jiang Ningran struggled desperately, cursing, “Are you crazy, Shi Ning? Didn’t you hear what Su Wanxing said? She was the one who initiated it!! She seduced me!! Why are you tying me up?”

Shi Ning frowned. “You’re really noisy.”

She glanced at her constantly ringing phone, then at the still-squawking Jiang Ningran. Left with no choice, she delivered a sharp karate chop to the occipital bone at the back of Jiang Ningran’s head. The first blow didn’t knock her out.

Shi Ning muttered, “What a pain.”

She put her phone down, raised her hand, and delivered several more chops to Jiang Ningran in quick succession. Finally, Jiang Ningran went limp.

“Phew-” Shi Ning shook her arm. It seemed that imitating martial arts movies wasn’t so easy. Knocking someone out for the first time was actually quite tiring.

Su Wanxing was completely stunned. “Shi…”

“Shh.” Shi Ning brought a finger to her lips, then broke into a smile as she answered the call. “Hello, wi-… sis, what’s up?”

Her voice was as gentle as a spring breeze, even as Jiang Ningran lay beside her, wrists bound and thoroughly knocked out.

Su Tianxue’s voice sounded very calm. “I’m almost at the research institute. Is everything okay at home?”

Shi Ning raised an eyebrow slightly and looked at Su Wanxing, as if to say, how I answer is up to you… now.
