MTB - Chapter 26
Chapter 26: Turning the Tables
In the moment of silence that fell, Yun Yang considered several possible outcomes. The worst would be not getting any answers at all. After all, Tang Yuelou was an expert at prevarication; she could spin you in circles with just a few words.
She wasn't actually angry, though a little bit of fire did stir in her once she'd processed it—the fish on the hook had been her all along.
And until half an hour ago, she had been completely in the dark, thinking she had been the one to take the initiative.
The two of them stared at each other for several dozen seconds before Tang Yuelou sighed as if in compromise.
"I remember you've seen my computer?"
"Uh," Yun Yang choked, not expecting her to bring this up now. She felt a momentary pang of embarrassment, but it was too late to back down. She lifted her chin haughtily. "What about it? Is there something you don't want people to see?"
"Of course not. I have nothing you can't see."
At that moment, Yun Yang really wanted to slap her. "You're still joking with me at a time like this? I..."
Tang Yuelou chuckled a few times. With her legs pinned beneath Yun Yang and her wrists tied above her head, unable to move, she still managed to remain perfectly composed, even seeming somewhat indulgent. "Alright, I'll be serious."
"Go on."
"You must have seen that drawing."
It took Yun Yang a moment to understand what she was talking about. That sketch from a strange angle, with the old woman and the girl... She thought for a long time before it came back to her—first, she remembered the person who had asked her out to dinner that day getting angry because she was late, and only then did she recall the old woman she had met.
"Remember now?" Tang Yuelou chuckled softly. "It was love at first sight for me."
Her eyes widened as she stared at Tang Yuelou beneath her. First, she was struck speechless by the phrase "love at first sight." It took her a good while to find her voice, and she managed a strained smile. "I wouldn't have guessed, Teacher Tang. I thought you were just lusting after my looks. I didn't realize you'd fallen for my beautiful inner qualities."
"To be honest, there was an element of lusting after your looks."
Yun Yang: "..."
Tang Yuelou wiggled her wrists. "Yangyang, I've confessed. Can I be 'released' now?"
She was looking up, her hands tied in front of her chest. Because of her subconscious struggling earlier, her blouse had been pulled out from her skirt, revealing a sliver of a firm, slender waist. Yun Yang's gaze stuck to the fair skin of her neck below her collar. A wicked thought surfaced, and she huffed, "No."
Tang Yuelou paused, the smile on her face unwavering, now tinged with a deeper meaning. "You like this?"
"Of course I do. Don't you like it too, Teacher?"
Yun Yang undid one of the buttons on her shirt. "Hands up."
Tang Yuelou obediently raised her wrists above her head, letting her unbutton her blouse.
An indescribable sense of satisfaction filled her heart. Yun Yang could feel her own heartbeat quickening in her chest. She finally understood how Tang Yuelou felt—the room was filled with the smell of smoke and alcohol from the bar, sharp and stimulating. Her palms were a little sweaty against the bare skin of Tang Yuelou's waist, and she subconsciously bit her lip.
"This cord is a bit too thin, and the surface hasn't been treated, so it could easily cause injury." Because the knot wasn't tied properly, the cord had loosened slightly, revealing clear red marks on her wrists. Tang Yuelou paid them no mind, speaking slowly. "When I don't have the right tools, I usually opt for a towel or a bathrobe belt. Do you remember that feeling, Yangyang?"
Yun Yang's fingers twitched involuntarily.
"Did you tie a dead knot just now? In this position, it would be very easy for me to break free."
Tang Yuelou pulled her leg out, bent her knee slightly, and used it to nudge open the hem of Yun Yang's skirt.
Yun Yang's hips went weak. She couldn't stop a muffled groan from escaping, her hands bracing themselves on the bed.
"If I were you, I would tie my legs up too. That way, she wouldn't be able to move around and could only lie obediently on the bed."
She softened her voice, low and gentle like a damp autumn wind after the rain, leaving a tingling sensation as it flowed past Yun Yang's ear. Yun Yang clamped her legs around Tang Yuelou's restless knee, her cheeks flushing. "Don't... don't say any more..."
"Why are you closing your eyes? Don't you want to look at me?"
"Or... do you want to be blindfolded?"
"So you're already excited? That won't do, Yangyang."
Yun Yang was trembling. Her legs felt weak, almost unable to hold her kneeling position as she started to tip to one side. Tang Yuelou bent her knee, pressing it against Yun Yang's lower body. The hem of her long skirt was bunched up at her waist, and with every movement of Tang Yuelou's knee through the two layers of fabric, Yun Yang couldn't help but shudder.
"Do you like this very much? Darling, your reaction is adorable."
She seemed to possess some kind of bewitching magic. The deliberately rising inflection at the end of her words plucked at Yun Yang's heartstrings. Yun Yang lost all her strength, supported only enough to fall forward. At some point, Tang Yuelou had freed her hands and was now wrapping an arm around her waist, laying her on the bed.
Yun Yang's face was flushed, her eyes half-open as she panted lightly. She watched Tang Yuelou straighten her collar and leisurely pick up the hoodie string to examine it.
A bad feeling welled up in her heart. Yun Yang swallowed, trying to subtly shrink back. "Teacher, I was wrong, I really..."
Tang Yuelou leaned down and gave her a wet kiss, cutting off the "let's talk this out" that was about to follow.
"We're in no hurry," she said with a gentle smile. "We have plenty of time. You can apologize slowly."
That night, Yun Yang got her wish and witnessed Tang Yuelou's dark and ruthless side. The next day at work, she was standing the entire time.
Surprisingly, Chen Ningning hadn't come in early today. With no customers, Yun Yang swept the floor first, then did a lap around the store before leaning over the counter to wipe down the glass. Tang Yuelou sent her a message asking what she wanted for lunch. With an ashen face, she closed the chat window, not wanting to reply.
She hadn't had a chance to look last night, but she now saw that Guan Yan had added her to a group chat. It seemed to be for a campus marathon organized by the Student Union, which was recruiting volunteers. Yun Yang had signed up and been selected. Now they had a group chat to organize custom T-shirts.
The custom T-shirts for these kinds of events were all about the atmosphere; the fabric, print, and cut were usually uninspired. They were basically disposable. But this time was different—because she had been in the Student Union's events department before and was on good terms with the new members, she was a semi-insider. The text on the shirts could be customized to her liking.
At first, Yun Yang was uninterested, but then she saw the list of participants and her eyes lit up—from alumni to students and faculty, there were several hundred people signed up. She spotted the name "Tang Yuelou" at a glance.
Tang Yuelou was running a marathon? Yun Yang nearly choked on her water.
She frowned, thinking for a few minutes. She absentmindedly sat down on a chair, but a sharp pain in her rear made her jump back up. Amidst her simmering resentment, a flash of inspiration struck. She grabbed her phone and sent a message to Guan Yan.
"...Just drop me off here. See you tonight."
Yun Yang looked up and saw Chen Ningning standing at the door, saying goodbye to someone. She was about to go over when she got a clear look at the person who had brought her and was now kissing her on the cheek.
Wasn't that Ouyang Zhou?
Yun Yang was stunned.
