DDT - Chapter 121
Chapter 121: Interstellar ABO (6)
The city center hospital wasn’t very crowded. Yi Shuhan took Chi Junluo to the reception office for a simple examination, then went to the triage desk with the number they were given to register some basic information.
Chi Chi’s name was very unique, consisting of only a single character. Furthermore, she was extremely famous throughout the Alliance, so she certainly couldn’t use her real name for registration. Fortunately, Moon Star was located in the remote Western Star Region, far from the Main Star. This region had almost no Zerg activity, so people paid relatively less attention to the Star Network. To better control the planet’s population and resources, the local tyrants of Moon Star had refused to link up with the infrastructure of the Main Star’s network. Therefore, as long as no one recognized Chi Chi as the Alliance’s missing admiral, the information in places like Moon Star’s hospitals would not be detected by the Main Star’s network.
Chi Chi’s face was covered by scars, and her hair, singed by fire, had been shaved short by Yi Shuhan back on the mecha. Combined with her disheveled state and amnesia, her entire demeanor had changed drastically. Her mental power had atrophied to the point of near nonexistence, making it virtually impossible for anyone to recognize her.
Since Chi Junluo was the one needing treatment, the hospital didn’t register Yi Shuhan’s information. As for Chi Chi’s temporary ID card, Yi Shuhan had already modified it while they were on the mecha.
When Yi Shuhan had first snuck away from the Main Star, she had been tracked down by a branch of her family after showing her ID card on another planet. Her entire journey had been closely monitored. To avoid such trouble again, she had hacked her own father’s system and registered a new ID card directly within the Alliance’s internal system.
The Yi Family was incredibly influential in the Alliance, so the head of the family applying for a new ID card was a trivial matter. After all, in this day and age, it was hardly surprising for the patriarch of a super-family like theirs to have an illegitimate child somewhere. Consequently, the staff at the identity management bureau quickly approved the application.
Privately, however, the gossip about the head of the Yi Family having an illegitimate child became a popular topic of conversation among the employees during their breaks. Some young Alphas who admired Yi Jun were even envious of his achievement of keeping his wife at home while having lovers on the side.
It wasn't until one of Yi Jun's subordinates heard about it while having dinner with a friend from the bureau that the matter was reported to the head of the Yi Family.
Yi Jun immediately had a rough idea of what had happened. After figuring out the general course of events, he stepped in to suppress the rumors, and no one discussed the matter privately again. In the end, only Yi Jun and his wife knew the truth.
What Yi Shuhan had modified on the mecha was the photo on this very ID card.
So, Chi Junluo watched as the beautiful girl pulled a card from her own pocket. A hospital staff member swiped the card to register the information, then returned it to the girl. Finally, the triage desk printed out a slip, instructing Yi Shuhan to take the patient, Chi Junluo, for further tests.
Yi Shuhan held onto the slip the entire time. Chi Junluo craned her neck, trying to see what was written on it, but couldn’t. She followed Yi Shuhan around a few corners, finally stopping at the comprehensive testing room. Two patients were waiting outside. Yi Shuhan settled Chi Chi onto a chair in the waiting area and spread the slip out on her lap. Chi Junluo glanced over and saw: Name: Yi Huai, Gender: Alpha Female, Age: 20, Place of Origin: Central Star Region.
The girl had told her before that her identity couldn’t be revealed. So, was this girl using her own ID to register for her?
This girl’s name was Yi Huai. She had no idea what her relationship was with the heroine, Yi Shuhan. Thinking of the name Yi Shuhan, for some reason, she felt like she had forgotten something important.
And then there was the gender column. She could tell the difference between male and female, but what was that “Alpha” in front of it? Was it some kind of special note? She vaguely remembered learning about symbols like α, β, and so on in math class a long, long time ago. She didn’t know what they meant in this world.
As for the place of origin, “Central Star Region” completely baffled her. Could it be that this world wasn’t the same as the Earth she was familiar with?
Before Chi Junluo had more time to think, a number was called from the comprehensive testing room. For some reason, they skipped the few patients waiting in line and called the name “Yi Huai” directly. Chi Junluo didn’t know the rules of this world, so she didn’t think much of it. However, as Yi Shuhan helped her into the testing room, she glanced quickly at the other patients and frowned slightly.
There was something wrong with these people.
Once Yi Shuhan had helped Chi Junluo into the testing room and the medical staff had closed the door, the few patients waiting outside exchanged a look. One of them, a slightly overweight man, shuffled away from the testing room in his hospital slippers. When he reached an empty stairwell, he pulled out a light screen. The area around the comprehensive testing room had signal jammers, but this stairwell was far enough away for the signal to return to normal.
He quickly typed out a message and sent it.
On the top floor of the Central Tower, the landmark building of Moon Star’s southern continent’s central city, a male Alpha was lounging on a deck chair, enjoying the breeze. The rooftop was only about a dozen square meters, and besides the Alpha and his chair, it was completely empty.
The Central Tower was over 400 meters tall, an impressive structure on a remote second-class planet like Moon Star. The male Alpha’s arm vibrated—a message had arrived. As the ruler of the entire central city, he had too many messages to read every day. He had gone from being exhausted by the workload to handling it with ease. The transition was simple: he just had to cultivate a few more trusted subordinates. Most messages were handled by them, while he only needed to sit back and pull the strings.
For several years now, his subordinates wouldn’t have disturbed him unless it was for a particularly important message. Today, they had sent several in a row. The male Alpha wasn’t in a hurry. He had a habit of letting unread messages accumulate to a certain number before opening them all at once.
Just one more, and he could happily start reading.
After waiting for about another half an hour, his light screen vibrated again with a new message. The male Alpha had almost fallen asleep in his chair.
He raised his arm. The light screen tracked the focus of his eyes and instantly unlocked, its brightness increasing significantly. Today’s messages were from his subordinate, Big Fatty. Big Fatty was primarily responsible for managing the population flow of the central city, as well as his boss’s one and only hobby.
Big Fatty had numerous informants under him, allowing him to know everything that happened in the central city. He had instructed his men that if they ever came across a beautiful, unmarked Omega, they had to report it. The city’s network of influence knew that Big Fatty had a penchant for such Omegas, but what they didn’t know was that every Omega captured was prepared for his boss.
On any planet in the Alliance, an unmarked Omega was extremely precious. This was especially true in remote places like the Western Star Region. As soon as an Omega’s glands matured, they would be claimed by the local elite. On many poor planets, Alphas had great difficulty finding a suitable Omega to mark and marry, so most ended up with Betas. As a result, in these places, superior genes were often found only in the families of the local powerful.
The Alliance had marriage laws that explicitly stipulated that a citizen could only be in a marital relationship with one person at a time. Before the marriage was dissolved, an Alpha was not allowed to mark anyone other than their spouse.
But on these remote planets, the local powers-that-be made the rules. It was possible for an Alpha from a powerful family to keep a dozen or even dozens of Omegas. The Alliance’s laws were nothing more than scrap paper here.
The Controller of the southern continent’s central city, an Alpha with SS-class mental power and an S-class physique, had a favorite hobby: collecting unmarked Omegas. He didn’t mind if they had been temporarily marked, either. When an Omega’s heat arrived, underage ones would typically use suppressants. If they were of age and had a partner or were engaged, their partner would give them a temporary mark. A temporary mark could soothe an Omega in heat, but it didn’t last long and needed to be reapplied at least once a month. An Omega with a temporary mark could still be forcibly marked by another Alpha before the pheromones faded. However, the clash of two different pheromones would cause great harm to the Omega’s body. A weaker Omega who was forcibly marked during this period could suffer a severe rejection reaction and might even perish.
Compared to marked Omegas who might end up as corpses, the Controller of the central city preferred those innocent little flowers who had yet to be marked. He had controlled the central city for decades and had violated countless Omegas. At first, he only targeted Omegas from Moon Star itself. Later, by a stroke of luck, he abducted a couple who were visiting Moon Star. The young Alpha had average mental power and physique and had never attended a military academy, so he was powerless to resist. The delicate Omega was from a second-class planet in the Central Star Region. People from the Central Star Region had pleasant voices, without the local accent of Moon Star, and were very well-maintained. She immediately aroused the Controller’s desire. After abducting them, he forcibly and permanently marked the Omega from the Central Star Region right in front of the young Alpha.
Omegas from the Central Star Region were indeed sweet, and it opened up a new world for him. That Omega was extremely strong-willed. Afterward, as he lay resting beside her, he never expected that the Omega, who had just recovered from the forced marking, would climb out the window and fall to her death from the high-rise building dozens of stories up.
Her companion, the young Alpha, was overcome with grief. He struggled to his feet and followed her, jumping to his death as well.
From then on, he had his subordinates keep an eye out for Omegas from other planets, especially those from the Central Star Region. He specifically targeted young people from ordinary families with no power, and he cleaned up their tracks completely. People from the Central Star Region had come to Moon Star to investigate several times, but they always returned empty-handed. This only made him more arrogant.
In recent years, perhaps because the number of tourists disappearing in the Western Star Region had increased, almost no one from the Central Star Region came to visit anymore. Even those just passing through became scarce. He could only find Omegas on Moon Star to satisfy his cravings.
But the message Big Fatty sent today gave him a jolt of excitement. One of Big Fatty’s men had picked up a fare in the eastern suburbs. The two passengers looked rather destitute, and one of them, a Beta, had many fresh injuries. After dropping the pair off at the hospital, the subordinate immediately sent a message to Big Fatty.
Big Fatty promptly contacted his men at the central hospital to monitor the two who had just arrived. Every move Yi Shuhan and Chi Junluo made was reported in detail to Big Fatty, who then compiled the information and sent it to his boss.
The Controller first looked at their photos. Alliance regulations required all taxis to be equipped with surveillance devices in both the front and back seats to protect the safety and legal rights of passengers and drivers. This suited people like the Controller perfectly, as they could get first-hand facial data of these passengers at any time.
During the drive, Big Fatty’s subordinate had brazenly sized up the passengers in the back through the surveillance camera, but they hadn’t reacted at all. From this, he concluded that their mental power was low and that they were likely on the run from enemies.
Big Fatty was very good at his job. The first thing the Controller saw was the Omega’s beautiful face. His eyes lit up, and he ran a finger across the light screen as if caressing her in person. This Omega was very beautiful, and from the video, her figure looked excellent too. Unfortunately, she hadn't said much. The Controller grinned, chuckling to himself.
He swiped a finger up, and the photo of the other person appeared. Half of her face was covered in hideous burns, and she looked utterly listless, as if a single breath could knock her over. The Controller frowned. He felt he should give an order: next time they encountered such an ugly thing, they should either censor it or deal with it themselves. Don’t bring it here to offend his eyes!
He swiped again and briefly reviewed the data from the hospital. An injured Alpha with almost no mental power and a delicate Omega. The Alpha’s test results showed her mental power had just barely crossed the C-class standard line, and her physique was even weaker than the Omega’s. There was no challenge at all.
The Controller’s eyes filled with disdain. This fresh Omega was his for the taking!
Right now, that crippled Alpha was in a hospital room. His men at the hospital said the Omega was very generous, immediately requesting the best room in the hospital. Half an hour ago, the two had moved into the central hospital’s top-tier suite. That Alpha had almost lost the mobility of a normal Alpha. According to the test report, her brain damage was severe. Even with the top medical resources of the Main Star, it was unlikely her injuries could be restored to even 30% of normal levels. Moon Star’s medical capabilities were limited, making it even more impossible.
The Controller sneered. Since this Alpha was finished, he would have to “take care” of her Omega himself!
The Controller stood up, looked at the gray sky, and was reminded of an ancient saying that had once been popular on the Star Network: “It’s lonely at the top.”
He tapped his light screen, preparing to order his men to make a move tonight. But just as the command was about to be sent, a wave of panic suddenly washed over him.
The Controller immediately froze. As an outstanding Alpha with an extremely high level of mental power, he trusted his intuition completely. Alliance experts still had no explanation for this phenomenon, but the higher a person’s mental power, regardless of gender, the more accurate their intuition was. Sometimes, it could even pull them back from the brink of death.
From birth until now, the Controller had relied on his SS-class mental intuition to escape one disaster after another. Especially in the last decade or so, as his power on the southern continent grew and his strength increased, this kind of intense, heart-pounding fear had almost completely disappeared!
He had always been cautious, trusting his intuition, which was how he had survived so long on this dog-eat-dog planet. Now that this sense of crisis had returned after more than a decade, he immediately became vigilant.
He tried a few times. Whenever he moved his finger close to the send button, the panic intensified. When he pulled it away, the sense of dread vanished instantly.
The Controller quickly exited the editor. His face darkened as he reviewed the information on the two of them again. Could there be something wrong with them?
He thought about the several groups of people from the Central Star Region who had come to Moon Star to investigate, both openly and secretly. Could these two also be investigators from the Central Star Region?
The Controller opened their photos and carefully examined their facial features. As the local tyrant of Moon Star’s southern continent, he was extremely wary of these investigators. If the investigation bureau found any evidence and sent mecha pilots to arrest him, no one on Moon Star could fight them off. He would have no choice but to surrender. He greatly enjoyed his life as a local emperor on Moon Star and was naturally unwilling to take risks. Even though he had a small starship for a quick escape, he had no desire to live the life of an interstellar pirate, constantly on the edge, never knowing where his next meal would come from. If he wasn't careful, he would either die at the hands of a patrol mecha or in the jaws of a stray Zerg. That was not a fate he was willing to face.
He looked closely at the Alpha’s face. Although half of it was ruined, he felt as if he had seen her somewhere before. But he never paid any attention to an Alpha this weak. Why would she seem familiar?
The Controller had never let a duck that was already in his grasp fly away. An unknown danger was the greatest challenge. He wanted to see just what tricks these two could pull.
This matter couldn’t be rushed. It required careful planning. He would observe them for a while first.
Big Fatty had been waiting for the boss’s order to move.
His light screen chimed. Big Fatty quickly raised his wrist to check. “Keep a close eye on them. Report any movement immediately.”
Big Fatty replied, “Understood,” and immediately passed the Controller’s orders down the line. Since the boss had decided not to act for now, it meant there was a problem with these two’s identities. He would definitely help the boss by watching them like a hawk.
