After Escaping Marriage - Chapter 103

Chapter 103

Chapter 103

Yu Qingtang stared at the ceiling in the darkness. The breathing of the woman beside her pillow grew longer and longer. Based on her recent careful observations while sharing a bed with Cheng Zhanxi, she knew Cheng Zhanxi was about to fall asleep.

After that, no matter if she watched her all night, touched her face, or gently pinched her ear, she wouldn't wake up. Once asleep, she slept very soundly.

They had been living together for almost a week, and the time they spent together was increasing, truly inseparable in every sense. Cheng Zhanxi liked to kiss her and would kiss her every day. One evening, after Yu Qingtang finished preparing her lessons, they were watching TV. When the drama entered a very boring plot segment, Cheng Zhanxi pulled her onto her lap and kissed her very gently.

The light from the screen glowed faintly. In the deserted late night, in the quiet living room, their breathing grew increasingly rapid, accompanied by involuntary sounds.

Things naturally escalated.

Yu Qingtang's pajamas were wrinkled from being rumpled. Fingertips brushed over smooth skin. Cheng Zhanxi's lips were behind her most sensitive ear, breathing continuously.

And then...

There was no "and then."

The boring plot in the TV show finished, and the main storyline resumed. The passionate interlude that had occurred between them was like an insignificant musical insert in the drama. Cheng Zhanxi withdrew her hand, smoothed down Yu Qingtang's rolled-up pajamas, and calmly embraced her, continuing to watch TV.

The place where Yu Qingtang had just been forcefully kissed still throbbed with a dull ache, feeling swollen. Wearing her pajamas became even more uncomfortable.

Only after the entire episode of the TV show ended did Yu Qingtang feel a little better.

That was on Wednesday.

Today was Friday. A spark ignited two days ago flickered intermittently, right there—inconspicuous, yet always, in the dead of night, it would quietly, gently scratch at the tip of her heart, making her thoughts restless, unable to resist fantasizing, craving.

It wasn't that Yu Qingtang was particularly fixated on this inherently pleasurable act itself; she simply wished Cheng Zhanxi could be closer to her, hold her tightly, possess her, leaving not a single gap.

She didn't know what Cheng Zhanxi was thinking, why she kept delaying...

She could sense that Cheng Zhanxi liked and desired it. Before they got together, Cheng Zhanxi had always wanted to do it with her. After they got together, could it be that what was obtained had lost its novelty? She wasn't even willing to lift a finger.

Yu Qingtang didn't dare to ask directly, so she could only take advantage of when Cheng Zhanxi was half-asleep.

—Seduce her.

Using the dim light in the room, she studied Cheng Zhanxi's sleeping face, slowly moving closer until the woman's breath brushed against her own face.

Yu Qingtang tilted her head and kissed Cheng Zhanxi's lips.

Yu Qingtang was a good teacher, and also a good student; her kissing skills improved rapidly.

After a dozen seconds or so, Cheng Zhanxi let out a soft "mmph." Though her mind was groggy, her hand, acting on its own, cupped the back of Yu Qingtang's head, pulling her into her embrace.

Yu Qingtang learned quickly, but she was still a long way from surpassing her teacher. So, once Cheng Zhanxi took the initiative, all Yu Qingtang could do was whimper softly.

But this was what she wanted.

She grasped the wrist of Cheng Zhanxi's free hand, bit her lower lip slightly, and guided it to where it should go.

Cheng Zhanxi couldn't tell if she was in reality or a dream. The body in her arms exuded a faint, delicate fragrance, like the snow of early winter—clean and crisp, making one want to climb a snow-capped mountain, to drink a mouthful of melted snow.

...

Cheng Zhanxi woke up panting, her hand enveloping Yu Qingtang.

She also realized she was passionately kissing Yu Qingtang.

Cheng Zhanxi: "?"

Yu Qingtang mustered her courage and offered herself up.

The sliver of clarity Cheng Zhanxi had just regained immediately plunged back into chaos. She rolled over, taking complete control.

Cheng Zhanxi, eyes closed, withdrew from between Yu Qingtang's lips. Her moist, warm lips moved downwards, gently nipping her chin.

Yu Qingtang arched her slender neck backward.

Cheng Zhanxi's cool strands of hair brushed against her collarbone, tickling. Yu Qingtang raised a hand to tuck them behind Cheng Zhanxi's ear, gathering the long, loose hair.

Cheng Zhanxi's head slipped under the covers. Yu Qingtang closed her eyes, her fingers gently combing through Cheng Zhanxi's long hair.

...

The sound of running water came from the bathroom.

The corners of Yu Qingtang's eyes were a little red, as if she had just cried. Her slender knuckles, which had been gripping the bedsheet, had only recently relaxed. Her face was buried in the pillow. Listening to the sounds behind her, her entire face, including her ears, turned red. But the bedroom light wasn't on, and the darkness concealed this well.

Cheng Zhanxi returned after rinsing her mouth and hugged her from behind.

"Baby."

Yu Qingtang placed her hand over the back of Cheng Zhanxi's hand, which was wrapped around her waist. Listening to Cheng Zhanxi's gentle, alluring words whispered beside her ear, she became even more acutely aware of how shameful her earlier actions had been.

"I want to sleep," Yu Qingtang said softly, not wanting her to say anything more embarrassing.

"Sleepy?" Cheng Zhanxi kissed her earlobe.

"...Mm."

"But what if I'm not sleepy?" Cheng Zhanxi lowered her chin, her thin lips brushing against the sensitive side of Yu Qingtang's neck.

Yu Qingtang's scalp suddenly tingled. She seemed to realize she had played with fire and gotten burned, and the fire hadn't finished burning yet.

"Didn't we make plans with Lin Xi for tomorrow?" Yu Qingtang said hurriedly, afraid it would be too late if she didn't speak up.

"It's fine." Cheng Zhanxi turned her over to face her, kissing her lips slowly and deliberately. "It'll be quick, baby."

"I... Mmph."

Cheng Zhanxi's nose and lips glistened. She looked at herself in the bathroom mirror for a moment, then returned to the bedside. She used her phone to take a picture of herself and the sleeping Yu Qingtang, and saved it in an encrypted album.

She washed her face and rinsed her mouth. Before getting into bed, she glanced at the digital clock on the bedside table.

Three in the morning.

Excluding the beginning and end, the two times added up to less than an hour; it really was quick. Cheng Zhanxi yawned, pulled Yu Qingtang into her arms, and, smelling her fragrance, peacefully fell asleep.

Yu Qingtang was a light sleeper. After resting for four or five hours, her energy had mostly recovered. So, when Cheng Zhanxi started to touch her in the morning, her eyeballs moved rapidly under her eyelids a couple of times, and she woke up. Looking down, she saw the back of Cheng Zhanxi's chestnut-colored head.

Yu Qingtang's fingers rested on the nape of Cheng Zhanxi's neck, gently squeezing twice.

Cheng Zhanxi lifted her head, smiling gently. "You're awake?"

Yu Qingtang looked at her with an unreadable expression.

Cheng Zhanxi's lips curved, and she lowered her head again.

This time, Yu Qingtang hooked her arms around both of Cheng Zhanxi's, preventing her from sliding down.

Cheng Zhanxi saw that she didn't want to, and understandingly moved up to hug her, giving her a good morning kiss. She asked softly, "What's wrong? Don't you like it, or are you not used to it?"

Yu Qingtang: "..."

Cheng Zhanxi didn't think there was anything that couldn't be said, nor was it something shameful. When talking about love and romance, the feelings discussed needed to be clear, and the lovemaking also needed to be clearly communicated.

She looked seriously into Yu Qingtang's eyes, wanting a definite answer.

Yu Qingtang's face flushed red at a visible rate. After a long pause, she stammered, "Aren't we going out today?"

Cheng Zhanxi patiently hummed in agreement.

Yu Qingtang said in a low voice, "I'm afraid I won't have the strength to get up."

Just thinking about what Cheng Zhanxi was going to do to her made her legs feel weak. If it really happened, she was afraid she'd turn into noodles, and her whole day would be ruined.

After hearing this, Cheng Zhanxi pondered deeply, remaining silent for a long time.

Yu Qingtang couldn't help but ask, "What are you thinking?"

Cheng Zhanxi said, "I'm thinking..." She leaned close to Yu Qingtang's ear and chuckled, "I'm really amazing."

Yu Qingtang's eyes widened bit by bit, as if Cheng Zhanxi's words made her recall, drop by drop, exactly how amazing she was. A faint pink blush spread up her neck, all the way to her ears.

Yu Qingtang slid under the covers, hiding her face, firmly holding the corner of the blanket over her head. A voice, urging yet tinged with shyness, came from within: "Hurry up and go wash."

"I'm going," Cheng Zhanxi told her through the blanket.

Alone under the blanket, Yu Qingtang's face was as red as a steamed crab.

When Cheng Zhanxi returned after washing up, she picked up Yu Qingtang's pajama bottoms from the foot of the bed and folded them. Yu Qingtang was still huddled under the covers.

Cheng Zhanxi smiled and said, "I'll go make breakfast. You get up by yourself later, don't stay in bed too long."

The small mound under the covers shifted slightly, as if in response.

Yu Qingtang heard the door close. She cautiously peeked out from under the covers, surveyed the room, and her gaze fell on the doorway. Cheng Zhanxi hadn't left at all; she was looking at her with a smile.

Yu Qingtang's expression instantly became quite colorful.

Cheng Zhanxi left the room before Yu Qingtang could retreat into her shell like a snail for a second time.

Yu Qingtang's shoulders slumped. She supported herself with her hands on the edge of the bed; she was still a bit unsteady when she got out of bed. The aftereffects of last night were too strong.

It turned out that whether or not there were feelings involved made a world of difference when it came to this. The moment Cheng Zhanxi touched her, she was like an iceberg under the scorching sun, constantly melting into water, gently enveloping them both. Cheng Zhanxi roamed freely in her ocean, like a skilled sailor steering her rudder, or like a lofty god, creating wave after wave.

Yu Qingtang squeezed toothpaste onto her brush, one hand resting on the sink, and unconsciously pressed her legs together.

She went to take a shower. During the shower, she began to regret not letting Cheng Zhanxi continue earlier. Whether Cheng Zhanxi did it or not, the result for her was the same.

Yu Qingtang's reverie lasted until Cheng Zhanxi parked the car at the village entrance, and little Lin Xi, who would turn four after the New Year, threw herself into Cheng Zhanxi's arms.

The sunlight was beautiful. Yu Qingtang, holding gifts for little Lin Xi and her grandmother, looked at the houses from which cooking smoke was rising. The aroma of food filled the entire village.

—They had woken up late, and before leaving, they had been affectionate in the entryway for quite a while. By the time they arrived here, it was almost lunchtime.

Cheng Zhanxi had brought two semi-cooked meat dishes, which she asked Grandma Lin to stir-fry together. Yu Qingtang put the nutritional supplements in Grandma's room, which counted as their contribution for the meal.

After taking a nap together at noon, they came out to see little Lin Xi sitting on a small stool by the door, drawing. At Lin Xi's age, imagination was at its most unrestrained. When creating, children easily get lost in their own world, talking to themselves and naming the incomprehensible figures in their drawings.

Cheng Zhanxi held Yu Qingtang's hand with one of hers, the other hand behind her back, intently watching little Lin Xi draw various strange symbols.

She didn't notice that Yu Qingtang never once looked at Lin Xi's drawing. Instead, Yu Qingtang deliberately turned her head away, closed her eyes, her expression full of resistance.

A tugging force came from her hand. Cheng Zhanxi turned her head to look.

Yu Qingtang said with an unusually flat expression, "I'm going out for some air."

Cheng Zhanxi ruffled the hair of little Lin Xi, who had turned around to look at them curiously, told her to continue drawing, and followed Yu Qingtang out.

Grandma Lin's house also had a small courtyard. In the yard grew a jujube tree and several peach trees. Peach blossoms have a short blooming period, opening in March and falling in April. A gentle breeze blew, and pink petals rustled down from the peach trees, a shower of falling blossoms, like a rain of peach petals.

Yu Qingtang's black trench coat shoulders were covered with peach blossoms.

Cheng Zhanxi wrapped her arms around her from behind, resting her chin on the woman's shoulder.

Yu Qingtang's hand rested on the back of Cheng Zhanxi's jade-like hand, and she leaned back slightly.

Cheng Zhanxi received her body language signal, hugged her tighter, and kissed her temple.

Yu Qingtang looked at the peach blossoms scattered on the ground, let out a soft breath, and said, "My... mother was a painter before she died, just like you."

Cheng Zhanxi said, "I know. Grandma told me."

Yu Qingtang said, "She died from complications during childbirth when she had me."

Cheng Zhanxi listened quietly.

Yu Qingtang said, "After she passed away, the man who loved her deeply... directed his anger towards me, because I looked too much like her. He didn't like seeing me, wouldn't let me call him by that title..."

Yu Qingtang noticed Cheng Zhanxi's tightening knuckles and patted the back of her hand reassuringly.

Yu Qingtang said, "He wouldn't allow anyone in the world to replace my mother, not even if they bore the slightest resemblance to her, especially since I was her daughter, with her blood naturally flowing in my veins. He forbade me from drawing, even from doodling on the ground with branches and stones. Every time he saw me, he would come over fiercely, shout at me, then snatch the branch from my hand, throw it away violently, far away where I couldn't see it, and then have the servants take me away."

Yu Qingtang said, "I really liked drawing, but I didn't dare to explore it. I wanted to know if I had inherited my mother's artistic talent, but I didn't dare to pick up a paintbrush. When I moved back to Sicheng, Grandma bought me a box of colored pencils, very beautiful. But as soon as I saw them, I would remember that man's distorted face, him throwing away the paintbrush in my hand, shouting at me over and over again, saying I wasn't worthy of learning to draw, that I had killed my mother."

Yu Qingtang's body began to tremble slightly.

Cheng Zhanxi's heart felt as if it were being twisted by a knife. She said in a low voice, "It's not your fault; he's the one at fault. If he hadn't gotten your mother pregnant, your mother wouldn't have passed away. He's just evading responsibility, a cowardly man with no sense of accountability. He's the real culprit who caused your mother's death."

Yu Qingtang softly retorted, "Then I wouldn't exist, would I? They could still have lived happily together."

Cheng Zhanxi couldn't immediately think of how to refute her twisted logic and said sadly, "Then what about me? If you didn't exist in this world, what would I do?"

Yu Qingtang said unhurriedly, "Without me, there would still be other people."

Cheng Zhanxi started to argue illogically, "Before we were reincarnated, when we drank Meng Po's soup, we promised to be together in this life too. How can you say such a thing? What other people? There can't be any other people!"

Yu Qingtang was briefly amused by her and chuckled, then sighed softly.

"Perhaps."

Yu Qingtang's life should have been smooth sailing, walking on a path blooming with flowers. All her sorrow and misfortune, pain and struggle, stemmed from an irresponsible father.

Cheng Zhanxi was so angry her eyes turned red. She said, "Growing up, I've never truly hated anyone. Now, I declare that man is the person I hate most in my life, bar none."

Cheng Zhanxi pressed her cheek against Yu Qingtang's cool one and nuzzled it.

Clearly, Yu Qingtang was the one who had been wronged, yet Cheng Zhanxi seemed even more upset than her.

Yu Qingtang raised her hand to touch Cheng Zhanxi's face and smiled gently.

"Teacher Cheng, don't be sad."

"Teacher Cheng?"

"Girlfriend, don't be sad," Yu Qingtang corrected herself, taking Cheng Zhanxi's hand again. "Actually, I don't care about him that much anymore. Don't I have you now? I'm very content, and very happy."

Cheng Zhanxi said with a straight face, talking nonsense, "If you don't mind, I can be your father, mother, and girlfriend all at once. All three of us love you, and from now on, our family of four will live happily ever after."

Yu Qingtang laughed out loud crisply, "Hahaha."

Cheng Zhanxi continued, "No, wait. My family also has parents and a brother. So, our family of seven will live happily ever after."

Yu Qingtang: "Hahahaha."

Cheng Zhanxi's eyes softened, her words becoming increasingly outrageous, "It'll be more convenient to meet the parents in the future. My parents see me alone, I agree, which means your whole family agrees, and they can settle our marriage."

Yu Qingtang laughed until tears welled up in the corners of her eyes.

She abruptly stopped laughing.

Had Cheng Zhanxi just mentioned marriage?

She turned her head to look at Cheng Zhanxi. Cheng Zhanxi's expression was gentle, and she gazed steadily at her.

Yu Qingtang lowered her eyes.

She... hadn't considered things that far ahead. Cheng Zhanxi wasn't surprised. There was still plenty of time.

She would gradually adapt to the change in status, first as a girlfriend, then as her wife.

But right now, there was clearly something more important.

Cheng Zhanxi held her shoulders, turned her around, and with her index finger, lifted her chin, slowly moving closer to the woman's face.

Yu Qingtang closed her eyes.

Their lips were about to touch.

"Jiejie Cheng."

The two separated as if shocked, simultaneously turning to look at four-year-old Lin Xi standing a dozen steps away. Xiao Lin Xi tilted her head, looking at them, her mind seemingly short-circuited, showing no reaction for a long time.

Cheng Zhanxi lowered her voice and said to Yu Qingtang beside her, "How about that? Isn't she just like you?"

Yu Qingtang pinched the soft flesh on her waist.

Cheng Zhanxi said, "Go on, pinch. Don't just make thunder without rain. You won't break me. Use some force."

Yu Qingtang said, "This is the first time I've seen someone actively ask to be pinched."

Cheng Zhanxi said, "I'm unique, fair with a rosy complexion."

Yu Qingtang's attitude towards her was too cautious. This kind of playful banter between lovers, hitting arms or pinching waists, was perfectly normal behavior. Yet, every time, Yu Qingtang only made a gesture, not even daring to actually pinch. Cheng Zhanxi's thoughts strayed for a moment: in the future, when Yu Qingtang was the one taking the lead, would she be too afraid to enter, too afraid to move? Then...

Yu Qingtang looked at Cheng Zhanxi's face. It was indeed fair with a rosy complexion. She withdrew her hand.

Xiao Lin Xi's stalled brain started working again. After a long delay, she asked doubtfully, "Jiejie Cheng, Jiejie, what are you doing?"

Cheng Zhanxi said, "We're dating."

Yu Qingtang: "..."

Xiao Lin Xi asked in her childish voice, "What is dating?"

Cheng Zhanxi, while leading Yu Qingtang over, said, "Dating means I like Jiejie, and Jiejie also likes me. When two people like each other, it's called dating." She raised an eyebrow at Yu Qingtang. "Right, Jiejie?"

Yu Qingtang couldn't be bothered with her.

Hearing this, little Lin Xi tilted her head, her big, grape-like eyes looking innocently at Cheng Zhanxi. She said, "Jiejie Cheng, can I date you?"

Cheng Zhanxi heard Yu Qingtang beside her let out a cold laugh.

Cheng Zhanxi replied in a tone used for telling stories to children, "No, you can't. Jiejie Cheng can only date one person, and that's this Jiejie next to me."

Xiao Lin Xi said regretfully, "Okay, then I'll find another Jiejie to date."

Cheng Zhanxi: "Brothers, younger brothers, and younger sisters are also fine. You don't have to stick to Jie... Ah!"

The soft flesh on her lower back was pinched by Yu Qingtang's two fingers and twisted 90 degrees.

Cheng Zhanxi sucked in a sharp breath, feeling both pain and pleasure. Watching Yu Qingtang's figure striding quickly inside, she quickly finished her sentence: "You don't have to stick to Jiejie."

Xiao Lin Xi didn't understand. "What does 'stick to' mean?"

"I'll explain it to you later!" Cheng Zhanxi chased after her.

Yu Qingtang sat on the tatami mat in the room Grandma Lin had cleared for them, her expression unreadable. Seeing Cheng Zhanxi walk in and close the door, she cast a lukewarm glance at her.

Cheng Zhanxi approached with a smile in her eyes. Just as she was about to speak, Yu Qingtang reached out and pinched her mouth shut.

Cheng Zhanxi blinked her eyes.

Yu Qingtang let go of her and said, "Are you this talkative with everyone?"

Cheng Zhanxi's gaze was teasing. She caught Yu Qingtang's hand and placed a kiss on her palm, saying, "With others, it's just talking. With you, it has other uses."

The unexpected suggestive remark made Yu Qingtang's ears turn red.

"I wasn't talking about that with you." Yu Qingtang's momentum had weakened considerably, like a cat whose fur was only half-bristled, soft and floppy, making one want to RUA.

"My fault, my thoughts weren't proper," Cheng Zhanxi said, sitting down in front of her. "Punish me."

Yu Qingtang completely lost the initiative, led by the nose by Cheng Zhanxi. She said blankly, "Punish you with what?"

"Punish me by..." Cheng Zhanxi pinched her chin with two fingers, her long eyelashes half-lowered, moving closer to Yu Qingtang's slightly parted red lips. The last two words were gently drowned between their lips and teeth, "...kissing you."

Yu Qingtang wrapped her arms around her neck, skillfully responding to her.

Her mind was dizzy, thinking: Is this considered a punishment? It's something that makes me happy, so let's tentatively call it a punishment.

Xiao Lin Xi sat on the small stool, turned to a new page, and had drawn over half the paper before the closed wooden door behind her finally opened. Hearing the sound, the child turned to look. Both Jiejies' faces were flushed, as if little Lin Xi had just run a big lap on the mountain. Had they gone to play on the mountain too?

Xiao Lin Xi blinked her big eyes. "Jiejie Cheng, you still haven't told me what 'stick to' means."

Cheng Zhanxi brought a small stool for Yu Qingtang to sit beside her and gave the child a language lesson.

After the lesson, Cheng Zhanxi looked at her crayon box and said gently, "Xiao Xi, can Jiejie borrow a pen and a notebook from you?"

Xiao Lin Xi ran into the room and came out a moment later, her short legs moving quickly. She stuffed a box of watercolor pens and a new drawing book into Cheng Zhanxi's hand, saying in her childish voice, "Here."

Cheng Zhanxi: "Thank you, Xiao Xi."

Lin Xi smiled, revealing a mouthful of small white teeth.

Cheng Zhanxi placed the pens and notebook on the table and beckoned to Yu Qingtang, "Baby, come."

Yu Qingtang obediently sat at the table, looking at her uncomprehendingly. Cheng Zhanxi opened the box of watercolor pens, opened the notebook to the first page, and pushed it in front of her.

Yu Qingtang's pupils contracted, and she instinctively wanted to flee. Cheng Zhanxi didn't stop her. Yu Qingtang retreated all the way to the doorway, looking at the watercolor pens and drawing book on the table in the inner room, then at Cheng Zhanxi standing by the table, her expression as gentle as water.

Yu Qingtang slowly walked back in and sat down at the table.

Cheng Zhanxi's fingertips brushed over the watercolor pens. She asked gently, "What color do you like?"

Yu Qingtang didn't answer.

Cheng Zhanxi answered herself, "Green, perhaps. Green represents new life."

She picked a green watercolor pen, placed it in Yu Qingtang's hand, and, holding her hand, drew a patch of thriving green grass on the blank paper.

Yu Qingtang's eyes slowly widened at the magic unfolding under the pen.

Cheng Zhanxi: "Next is red. Let's draw a few small flowers, okay?"

Cheng Zhanxi switched to red watercolor and dotted vibrant flowers in the grass.

Brown depicted the trunks of trees, sprouting new buds, tender green leaves fluttering in the wind. A large tree rose from the ground, sheltering the delicate flowers from wind and rain.

Cheng Zhanxi asked patiently, "What color is next?"

Yu Qingtang, who had been silent all along, her lips trembling a few times, said, "Blue, because we need to draw the blue sky."

Cheng Zhanxi said, "Correct, so smart."

She taught Yu Qingtang hand-over-hand how to draw a clear blue sky, white clouds, and a fiery red sun.

A watercolor painting full of childlike innocence was completed.

It was also the first painting Yu Qingtang had ever created herself in her life.

Cheng Zhanxi placed the drawing aside, didn't ask about the wet marks on it, and gently asked, "What do you want to draw next?"

Yu Qingtang's eyes were slightly red. She said, "I want to draw a house."

Cheng Zhanxi coaxed, "Baby, how about you draw it yourself?"

Yu Qingtang shook her head. "I can't do it."

Cheng Zhanxi covered the back of her hand again, her lips close to Yu Qingtang's ear, and said softly, "Then I'll teach you to draw. You choose the colors, okay?"

Yu Qingtang nodded.

Yu Qingtang chose green and drew the pointed roof of the house.

Orange walls, blue windows, a yellow door, a red chimney.

In the sky, painted deep blue, hung a golden moon and stars.

This painting became her new profile picture.

Cheng Zhanxi was going sketching tomorrow, so they stayed overnight at Grandma Lin's house. The room they stayed in had a skylight. The air in the suburbs was fresh, and at night, they could see stars twinkling in the Milky Way.

Yu Qingtang tilted her neck back, forming a slender curve, and all the starlight seemed to fall into her unfocused, ink-black eyes.

The old house had poor soundproofing. When Grandma Lin got up to use the bathroom at night, she heard strange sounds coming from behind the wooden door.

Yu Qingtang heard the approaching footsteps, her body instantly tensing. Coupled with Cheng Zhanxi's instigation, she couldn't control her violent trembling, biting her index finger and leaving a deep row of teeth marks.
