Offense - Chapter 26

Chapter 26

The air conditioner calmly breathed in and out.

The room was pitch-black. The sounds of children laughing and playing outside seemed to come from far away, making the room feel exceptionally quiet, as if they were cut off from the rest of the world.

Her earlobes were sensitive. Brushed alternately by Lian Wan's hand and the cold air, goosebumps threatened to rise but never quite formed. A tingling numbness spread through Zhou Yanqian's body, and she unconsciously tilted her neck.

But Lian Wan noticed her movement. The warmth of her palm pressed closer, and her voice was soft. "Your air conditioner is set too low."

There was a hint of disapproval in her voice, which left no room for argument. "Should I turn it up a bit?"

The little puppy's sudden reversal of roles gave Zhou Yanqian a strange sense of panic, as if she'd been seen through. She turned her face away and stubbornly said, "No."

She didn't forget to explain, "I just like it this way. It's perfect."

This wasn't a lie. She did have this quirk—she liked eating ice cream on cold days, the inside of her mouth burning from the frost. She was used to sleeping with the air conditioner on while under a thick quilt, feeling the warmth on her body amidst the icy world outside the covers, as if coveting someone's embrace in winter.

Perhaps contrast was a rather wonderful sensation. How could one appreciate the comfort of warmth without the cold? When the two existed simultaneously, their opposition became something entirely different.

Zhou Yanqian deeply agreed.

Lian Wan seemed to have nothing to say to that. She tightened her arms, returning to her usual silence.

With the initiative back in her hands, Zhou Yanqian quietly sighed in relief and pressed herself relaxedly against Lian Wan.

A bed shared by two was much warmer than usual. The human body radiated a constant heat, like a large furnace. The feel of it—Zhou Yanqian secretly poked Lian Wan's waist, then gave it a pinch. Sensing Lian Wan's alarm, as if facing a great enemy, she suddenly felt that ceding the initiative might not be so bad after all.

As she thought this, she shifted her body, letting the loose collar of her nightgown fall open. It released the fragrant, luscious scent of a woman well-rested and fully mature, like a fruit on a tree so ripe it was about to fall. Yet the fruit's color was flawlessly white, its texture smooth to the touch, its valley deep, yet it could only accommodate one person's inexperienced possession.

A patch of moonlight, so seemingly unattainable, had fallen so easily into Lian Wan's palm.

Zhou Yanqian didn't try to hide. She just draped her arms around Lian Wan's neck, drew closer, and breathed softly by her ear, "Your hands are so hot..."

Whether speaking or not, the woman's breaths were faint, one after another, like a fragile little animal.

When it reached the ear, it became a seductive itch.

Lian Wan suppressed the itch. She held the woman's body, embracing the armful of softness and fragrance. Zhou Yanqian wasn't still in her arms; she loved to touch Lian Wan's ear and chin with her fingers, then slide them down to her collarbone and trace circles there, like a playful child. Lian Wan didn't resist her touch. On the contrary, she could sense Zhou Yanqian's desire for her, no different from her own. It was as if they were huddled under the same umbrella, their gazes locked together.

The impulse was mutual, and this mutuality was wonderful beyond words. As Lian Wan realized this, her mind grew hot and fuzzy. The scents she had caught in the bathroom now found their true owner. The impulse was traceable, but she didn't know how to express it. Lian Wan lowered her head, pressing her mouth against Zhou Yanqian's face, nuzzling her gently like a child seeking affection.

Zhou Yanqian moved her neck and mumbled, not quite satisfied, "That tickles. Stop nuzzling."

The woman was lying in her arms, seemingly defenseless. Lian Wan gently touched her lips to Zhou Yanqian's ear and gave it a tentative lick.

A shiver ran through Zhou Yanqian's entire body. Even the end of her words softened. "Don't... What are you doing!"

Her voice could have been a sign of weakness, or perhaps an invitation. Lost in her fragrance, Lian Wan's head was muddled, unable to discern her true intentions.

But strangely, her consciousness remained calm, directing her body to hold tighter, to get closer. It had been a long time since Lian Wan had that kind of dream, but at this moment, it felt as if she were in one.

She lowered her head, drew near, opened her mouth, and buried her face deep against her.

She unhurriedly took Zhou Yanqian's neck between her teeth, as if holding the line between reality and dream.

Lian Wan didn't use much force, just holding gently with her teeth. It wasn't so much painful as it was a tingling numbness.

Just being held like that, the ache of being suckled, was clearly drawn out in slow motion.

Zhou Yanqian's body went limp. Before she could speak, she felt Lian Wan release her neck and nip at her face.

Again and again. Zhou Yanqian mustered the strength to raise a hand and pat the disobedient dog's head. Her voice was as languid as a pool of water. "What are you trying to do? Hmm?"

Lian Wan let her go and nuzzled her face, saying nothing.

"Not today," Zhou Yanqian said slowly, gently stroking her lips.

"Besides," she said, a smile in her voice, "do you even know how? Have you forgotten what I didn't get to teach you last time? All you know is how to bite. Were you born in the year of the dog?"

Their bodies pressed close, they could feel each other's softness. And weakness. Lian Wan nuzzled her face, nodding haphazardly, and held her tight, refusing to let go.

Perhaps she was holding too tightly, as small gasps escaped the woman's lips. The sound made Lian Wan's throat tighten.

She quietly took a moment to recover before replying in a small voice, "The year of the rabbit."

"No wonder." Zhou Yanqian wasn't surprised by her hoarse voice. She pinched Lian Wan's earlobe and twisted it gently. "No wonder you're so good at biting. So you're a little rabbit."

"Then it's my turn to eat you up," she said languidly.

Lian Wan remained silent. After saying this, Zhou Yanqian playfully slid her hand down, pressing it against the skin below Lian Wan's collarbone.

As she caressed her, she hid in her embrace and laughed, asking a question to which she already knew the answer, "Are you hot?"

Lian Wan said, "Hot."

Her voice was still hoarse. Listening to it for a while made Zhou Yanqian's whole body heat up. She stuck her hand out from under the covers to cool it down, hoping her muddled mind would also regain some clarity.

But after trying to be rational for a while, she still couldn't hold back.

"Stop looking." Zhou Yanqian reached out and covered Lian Wan's eyes. Her voice was low, soft, and husky, like fermenting wine. "I'll make it up to you next time."

In her memory, the two of them talked for a while longer after that.

But Lian Wan couldn't say when she had fallen asleep.

The night was hazy, her head was groggy and swollen, and even her dream was bloated. A pool of water, so full it was about to overflow. The sky-blue bottom of the pool was like another sky, and Zhou Yanqian was lying on her back in this sky, gently rising and falling with the waves.

Lian Wan couldn't swim; she stood on the shore, worrying helplessly. In the dream, Zhou Yanqian's wetness and her own thirst were splitting her nerves. Lian Wan was agitated, uneasy. She clenched her fists but had nowhere to strike.

The pool was boundless, as if all the water in the world was pushing them along.

Finally, there was a moment.

It all came rushing in and submerged Lian Wan.

Lian Wan woke up. The sensation of suffocation and the stinging pain of drowning still seemed to linger in her mouth and nose. Zhou Yanqian was curled up in her arms. Contrary to the dream, her shoulders were pressed tightly against hers, her chest rising and falling rhythmically, like a hypnotic beat.

The night was as cool as water, the whole world silent. Lian Wan's palm was filled with the curve of Zhou Yanqian's back—warm, soft, and smooth, as if coated in a sticky, fragrant sweat.
