DDT - Chapter 131
Chapter 131: Interstellar ABO (16)
This was the first time Chi Junluo had watched someone make something in person, and she found it quite novel. This was a technologically advanced future world; she wondered how the Omega before her would handle the piece of mecha wreckage in her hands.
Yi Shuhan finished preparing her tools and turned to see Chi Chi squatting beside her with a curious expression. It had been a long time since she had seen this side of Chi Chi. She still remembered the first time she brought Chi Chi into her personal research institute; Chi Chi's face had been filled with the exact same curiosity as now, her clear eyes free of any impurities. Yi Shuhan sometimes felt that this strange mecha pilot seemed to exist outside of this world, always carrying a sense of not belonging. Although that feeling had gradually faded as they spent more time together, the premonition that this person would leave sooner or later always lingered in her heart.
Yi Shuhan took another deep look into Chi Junluo's eyes. Thankfully, she was still here.
Yi Shuhan wasn't the type to be unable to concentrate just because someone was watching her. Once she entered her work state, almost nothing could disturb her.
Chi Junluo moved to a position with a better view. Seeing that Yi Shuhan didn't mind, she scooted a few steps forward.
The toolbox was filled with things she didn't recognize. Seeing the Omega girl's focused expression, she suppressed her curiosity and simply watched quietly.
Her movements were as smooth as flowing water. Yi Shuhan was an old hand at building mecha; even constructing a massive one was effortless for her, let alone a small mask.
She easily cut the mecha wreckage into small pieces with a tool unknown to Chi Junluo, then skillfully removed the excess material. Mecha materials were extremely hard, but Yi Shuhan's cutting process wasn't like what Chi Junluo had seen in her original world—sparks flying and blindingly bright.
The entire process was quiet, with no strange, glaring lights. Before Chi Junluo could even understand some of the steps, a mask roughly the size of her face gradually took shape. Next, the technically skilled Omega girl took components from some strange-looking items, processed them simply, and installed them inside the mask.
Watching the mask made from mecha fragments slowly come together, Chi Junluo felt a sliver of worry. With so many things added to this mask, wouldn't it be especially heavy? After all, mecha wreckage was made of metal.
The entire process took less than half an hour. Yi Shuhan had skillfully crafted the mask. For ease of control, the mask she'd made was powered by a small energy stone and could also connect to a light screen. Unfortunately, Chi Chi's light screen had been destroyed in the accident; she would have to get a new one from the Military after returning to the Main Star.
Yi Shuhan mused that if Chi Chi's face couldn't be healed, she could take full responsibility for making all of Chi Chi's masks in the future.
Perhaps because Yi Shuhan's way of thinking had always been rather unconventional, not on the same wavelength as ordinary people, her most direct thoughts were tied to manufacturing things. She didn't consider what would happen if Chi Chi was truly disfigured and no longer as beautiful as before. In her eyes, what she loved was Chi Chi the person, not this outer shell.
The process of making the mask was not as dull and boring as one might imagine. Chi Junluo squatted in that spot and watched with great interest. She marveled inwardly; this girl had turned such a complex manufacturing process into a highly enjoyable artistic performance.
Seeing the Omega girl hand the mask over, Chi Junluo quickly reached out to take it. Unexpectedly, the mask was extremely light. She secretly tested its strength, but the mask didn't give at all; it was truly hard.
Under Yi Shuhan's guidance, Chi Junluo successfully put on the mask. It only covered the area from her nose upward, so her breathing wasn't obstructed. Straps and auxiliary limbs passed through her hair to secure it to her head. The raised support points inside were thoughtfully padded by Yi Shuhan with a soft material of unknown origin, so it wasn't uncomfortable. The mask didn't press directly against her face, making it perfectly comfortable to wear. Seeing Chi Chi's two large, bewildered eyes peeking out from the mask, Yi Shuhan couldn't help but laugh. At the sight of the suddenly laughing Omega, Chi Junluo subconsciously swallowed.
Yi Shuhan cleaned up the scattered bits and pieces on the floor and used the hospital's system to buy two sets of clothes from a local mall. She had left in such a hurry that she hadn't brought anything. Her own clothes were clean, but Chi Chi had nothing suitable to wear. She couldn't just leave in a hospital gown.
She was very familiar with Chi Chi's figure, so there was no problem with the clothing sizes; she knew them all. However, having spent years immersed in mecha research in her personal lab, she had never paid attention to fashion aesthetics. She only knew that Chi Chi preferred solid colors like black and white. She browsed the mall for a few minutes, the dazzling array of clothes overwhelming. Yi Shuhan sized up Chi Chi, then searched her memory. It seemed her Chi Chi had never worn a skirt, so she immediately swiped past the puffy skirts and slip dresses.
She selected two conservatively styled outfits. Just as she was about to pay, a black and white three-point bikini flashed before her eyes. Yi Shuhan froze for a moment, then secretly glanced at Chi Chi, who was sitting ramrod straight not far away. Seeing that she wasn't paying attention, she quickly swiped back, blinked, and added the item to her shopping cart.
Chi Junluo was sitting on the sofa, bored and daydreaming, when she heard the ward's doorbell ring. The Omega girl hurriedly rushed to open the door first. It seemed someone was delivering something. Chi Junluo craned her neck slightly but couldn't see clearly. After the delivery person left, the Omega girl, with a calm expression, quickly walked into the room holding a package. A moment later, Yi Shuhan came out holding two sets of clothes, piled them on the sofa, and let Chi Junluo choose for herself.
Chi Junluo reached out and rummaged through the two outfits. One was predominantly white, the other more black. The styles were normal. A question floated through her mind: it was just two sets of clothes, so why did it feel like the Omega girl was being a bit sneaky just now?
Unable to figure it out, Chi Junluo casually picked a set. These clothes were much more normal, unlike the combat suit, which was full of hidden mechanisms and terribly complex.
Seeing Chi Junluo change her clothes without much clumsiness, Yi Shuhan nodded to herself. As long as she reminded Chi Chi to get dressed after waking up in the morning from now on, it wouldn't be a big problem.
Neither of them had any luggage. After a careful check of the room, and seeing that Chi Chi had secured the Space Storage Device she had given her on her wrist, Yi Shuhan took Chi Junluo's hand and left the high-end ward to handle the discharge procedures at the front desk.
Evidently, their decision was too sudden. The nurse at the front desk almost widened her eyes in displeasure, but her colleague beside her nudged her, pulling her out of her daze.
The nurse handling the discharge tried to single-handedly convince them to stay. Hearing the front desk nurse repeatedly say that Chi Chi's body still needed to recover and that checking out now would be very detrimental to the patient, Yi Shuhan shot her a suspicious look. Pricked by that gaze, the nurse swallowed the rest of her words. It was better not to alert the prey. At worst, she could just have someone tail them and see where they were going.
While slowly processing the discharge procedures, the nurse secretly used her light screen, hidden by the high counter, to send a message to Big Fatty and report the situation. The nurse stole a glance at the supposedly weak and disabled Alpha. A silver-white mask concealed the Alpha's face, but her two eyes shot out a cold light that sent a chill down the nurse's spine. It had only been two or three days; how had this crippled Alpha's aura become so terrifying?
Big Fatty was nursing a headache. He and his most capable communications subordinate had been trying all night to find the identity information of the two people in the high-end ward, but strangely, they couldn't find anything. All channels on the Star Network showed that no such person existed, and there was no trace of them even on the dark web, which was outside the Alliance's jurisdiction.
The dark web even had informants within the Military. If even it couldn't find them, these two were far too terrifying.
This battered, injured Alpha and that lavish Omega couldn't possibly be undocumented residents of the Alliance, could they?
Or maybe the illegitimate children of some prominent family?
Big Fatty had been agonizing over the name Yi Huai for a long time. He had his subordinates investigate the Yi Family through the dark web, but among the main and branch families, there was no child who was an Alpha named Yi Huai. He had even managed to get the recent activity logs for most of the Yi family children to compare, but he couldn't find anyone whose movements matched. The large-scale search on the Yi Family had even attracted their attention, forcing his informant within the Military to lay low, almost getting caught.
Just as he was at his wit's end, he received a message from his subordinate, saying that the crippled Alpha was checking out with the beautiful Omega. They seemed to be in a hurry. The subordinate mentioned that the prepaid hospitalization fees and deposit for the high-end ward were non-refundable—a huge sum of money—yet the two of them signed without even blinking. It was obvious their minds were made up.
Big Fatty had just finished reading the first message, a surge of anger rising in him, when before he had time to vent, his light screen chimed. He received a second message: "Boss, they took a cab heading out of the city. I've already told the driver to pay attention to their conversation and destination."
Big Fatty was so angry he crushed a glass. Could it be that those two had discovered their malicious intentions? Was that why they were in such a hurry to escape?
Big Fatty immediately dispatched several subordinates to tail the taxi they were in, while he himself quickly used his light screen to contact The Controller of the central city to report this major event that had caught them off guard.
Big Fatty grumbled inwardly. The deadline the boss gave him wasn't even up yet! What if he could have found their identities through some other method this afternoon?
How dare they! How dare they check out without his permission! Big Fatty was furious, but the communication signal had already gone through. He had no choice but to quickly school his expression into a docile one, preparing to face the wrath of his boss.
Perhaps The Controller really did care a great deal about this beautiful Omega, as the connection was established without much delay.
The sound of whistling wind came from the other side of the light screen. Big Fatty stole a glance; his boss was still on the top floor of the central tower. It looked like the chair he had kicked and broken last time had been replaced. The communication interface only showed the gray, overcast sky. The Controller was probably still lounging leisurely in his chair. Big Fatty lowered his head and reported everything that had just happened, along with the results of his investigation. There was no response from the other side for a long time, but the wind grew stronger.
Big Fatty secretly lifted his eyes just in time to see The Controller's perspective on the light screen shake violently. Then, the entire central city came into view, followed by a loud crash and the sound of falling metal. Big Fatty shuddered. It seemed the new chair was gone, too.
"You couldn't find anything at all, is that right?" The Controller's grim voice came through. Big Fatty nodded helplessly.
The Controller stretched his limbs, producing a series of cracking sounds. Damn it, it had been so long since he'd had a taste of something fresh. It wasn't easy for a top-quality Omega to deliver herself right to his doorstep, so how could he bear to let her go?
The duck that was already in his mouth couldn't be allowed to fly away. He was determined to devour this little white flower!
"Follow them closely. Send more people. Once they're out of the city, have your men take them to the old forest where there's no signal. Trap them there. I'll go and deal with this disobedient little vixen myself."
Hearing these words, Big Fatty felt a sense of relief. It seemed the boss was determined to get his hands on that little beauty no matter what. Thankfully, the boss hadn't blamed him. When it was time to abduct the little beauty, he would have to rush to the front to redeem himself. And afterward, he would have to volunteer to destroy the evidence. Sigh, his life was just too hard!!!
After getting into the taxi, Chi Junluo and Yi Shuhan once again sat in the back seat. Unlike a few days ago, this time, Chi Junluo was in much better shape, both physically and mentally. She could clearly feel someone watching her—a strong and peculiar sensation. She didn't turn her head, but her eyes, hidden beneath the mask, shifted toward the source of the gaze. It was a small, camera-like object, similar to the little things the Omega girl had found in the hospital room, but this one was slightly larger.
With such a strong sensation of being spied on, it was no wonder Yi Huai could discover it so easily.
Chi Junluo shifted slightly toward the middle, leaning her body to the right. Her eyes caught a small screen in the front driver's cabin, which showed her sitting pressed right up against the Yi Huai girl.
She raised her gaze and saw the driver, whose nervous eyes were darting about.
Hah, so it was this guy who was secretly peeping at her.
Chi Junluo retracted her gaze and felt her right arm gently brushing against something warm. Remembering what she had seen on the monitor—herself sitting extremely close to Yi Huai—she felt a little unnatural. Just as she was about to move back to her original spot, she felt Yi Huai take her right hand. A ticklish sensation spread from her palm to her heart as Yi Huai wrote in it, "Chi Chi can feel it?"
Chi Junluo nodded slightly. A faint blush crept onto her face beneath the mask, and a bit of heat began to build up inside. It must be the original body's lingering consciousness acting up! Chi Junluo focused on the words being written: "Chi Chi's mental power is starting to recover. That's great."
Chi Junluo stiffly pulled her hand back and sat up straight. The atmosphere in the car instantly grew tense. The driver felt the pressure from the back seat intensifying. He was an A-rank mental power Alpha, yet he was being suppressed by a useless Alpha! How was that possible? Could it be that the intelligence from the hospital was wrong?
Yi Shuhan carefully observed the driver as two streams of mental power pressed down inside the car. Fine beads of sweat soon appeared on the driver's head. It seemed Chi Chi's mental power had miraculously recovered this much; it was at least on the borderline between A-rank and S-rank. Could it be related to… the marking?
Yi Shuhan shifted her gaze out the window, trying to quiet her chaotic thoughts.
Soon, the car left the city and finally stopped in a forest where the trees blotted out the sky. Yi Shuhan had indeed told the driver to take them somewhere deserted, and this place was extremely remote. After paying, the two got out of the car, and the driver sped away. Yi Shuhan figured that the person behind the scenes had likely learned of her and Chi Chi's departure and couldn't wait to make a move. They must have tried to investigate her, and upon finding nothing, shouldn't they have cautiously backed off? Really, she hated people who had no perception.
After getting out of the car, Chi Junluo stood on the spot with Yi Shuhan. When she saw that the girl wasn't taking out a mecha to leave, she turned her gaze to Yi Shuhan, who gave her a reassuring look in return.
Chi Junluo stood quietly with her hands behind her back beside Yi Shuhan. Before long, a loud noise approached from a distance, and a small, modified aircraft landed with a roar not far from the two of them.
The Controller's tall, burly body descended from the aircraft. Half of The Controller's head was bald, revealing numerous raised scars, while the hair on the other side was messy and utterly devoid of aesthetic appeal. Perhaps this was the last shred of a bald man's dignity?
As the tall Alpha walked down, rustling sounds came from the surrounding woods. Then, dozens of people burst out from all around, holding particle guns and aiming them at the two women.
The Controller slowly walked forward. He looked with satisfaction at the young, beautiful Omega, whose expressionless face looked "stubborn." He smelled the faint Alpha pheromones on the Omega, and a trace of disgust flashed in his eyes. He raised his voice and said, "Young and beautiful Miss Omega, to prevent your beloved, injured Alpha from coming to unnecessary harm, are you willing to come with me?"
His response was two pairs of beautiful eyes filled with disdain.
