VBNWDW - Chapter 25

Chapter 25

"Xi Zhoulu."

"Miss Xi."

"CEO Xi…"

The woman lay languidly on her side, a thin blanket barely covering her. The corners of her eyes held an obvious smile, and her deliberately drawn-out tone was teasing.

"Why aren't you saying anything? Do none of the spots I picked suit your fancy?"

"No way, no way. Our CEO Xi can't be such an old-fashioned traditionalist, can she? Forbidding tattoos and ear piercings…"

Luo Yueqing's gaze swept over the other woman's earlobe. So it was a case of one rule for her and another for everyone else, huh?

She blinked, and the person opposite her looked back, her light gray-blue eyes as deep and dark as the ocean, reflecting Luo Yueqing's face.

She suddenly spoke: "Luo Yueqing."

"Ah?" Luo Yueqing was a little baffled.

Xi Zhoulu called out again: "Miss Luo."

"Mm?" Luo Yueqing began to wonder if she had gone too far.

For the last one, Xi Zhoulu paused before saying slowly, "Mrs. Luo Luo."

Luo Yueqing sucked in a sharp breath, shocked. "That sounds awful."

Xi Zhoulu: …

She pressed her lips into a thin line, a flash of embarrassment crossing her stern face. She could only try another form of address: "Luo Luo."

"A bit plain," Luo Yueqing critiqued with a click of her tongue. The one who no longer needed to self-reflect was getting arrogant again.

Xi Zhoulu tried tentatively, "Yueqing?"

That name was pleasant and rolled off the tongue easily.

But Luo Yueqing was still picky. "Everyone who knows me calls me that."

The implication was that it wasn't special enough—that Xi Zhoulu could be closer to her than they were.

Realizing this, Xi Zhoulu's expression softened, and her voice grew gentler. "Qingqing?"

Luo Yueqing immediately broke into a smile. Her alluring eyes, full of affection, gazed at her. "Xi Zhoulu, are you asking for a kiss?"

Before Xi Zhoulu could react, the woman nestled in her arms tilted her head up, pressed her lips gently against hers, and said with a light laugh, "If you want to kiss me, just kiss me. You don't have to ask."

Xi Zhoulu was both annoyed and exasperated, unable to figure out what was going on in Luo Yueqing's head. The conversation had been steered elsewhere in just a few sentences. She was about to speak, but her lips were sealed, and the words circled back down her throat.

The tips of teeth grazed over soft lips. Sometimes, a slight, gentle pain could provide a uniquely special sensation, just like now.

But it couldn't be like that forever. It needed a bit of soothing—a gentle press of the lips over those spots, quietly smoothing away the sting.

It had to be said, Luo Yueqing had a remarkable talent in this area. In a short time, she had mastered how to tame a wary, unfriendly kitten and could always smooth its fur the right way.

Pulling back just a fraction, Luo Yueqing asked in a low voice, "Why bring this up all of a sudden?"

The distance was too small; her opening and closing lips kept brushing against the other's. Xi Zhoulu lowered her gaze and said only, "I just suddenly realized I don't have a proper way to address you."

"Luo Yueqing," "Miss Luo," and, from the very beginning, "Dr. Luo"—they were all too distant.

Luo Yueqing looked up at her, her soft and charming features reflected in those light gray-blue eyes.

She said gently, "You can call me whatever you want."

"I'll answer no matter what."

Xi Zhoulu lowered her head and bit her red lips, easily placated. Then, she gave her answer to the previous topic: "Don't get it tattooed."

"Hm?" Luo Yueqing didn't hear clearly, letting out a muffled, breathy sound.

The other woman had to repeat with more emphasis, "Don't get a tattoo."

"You don't like it?" Luo Yueqing finally heard, pressing her lips against the other's in response.

"I don't like other people touching you," Xi Zhoulu finally admitted. Not even a few minutes after being honest, she started feigning a cold, serious demeanor again. "I hope you now have the self-awareness that we're legally married. Don't go flirting around everywhere."

Luo Yueqing was both amused and annoyed. "I'm just getting a tattoo, and it's a tattoo of your bite mark. How is that flirting around?"

Xi Zhoulu raised a hand and pointed to each of the options she had just mentioned, from top to bottom: her neck, collarbone, the soft curve of her chest, her waist, and the inside of her thigh.

Luo Yueqing raised an eyebrow, guessing what the other wanted to say. "Other people can't touch any of these places?"

Xi Zhoulu nodded, her expression serious and earnest.

Luo Yueqing protested instinctively, "I can understand the other places, but why not my neck? Xi Zhoulu, aren't you being a little too possessive?"

They say Alphas are possessive and domineering. There are even stories of Alphas in their susceptibility period causing tragedies just because their partner exchanged a few words with someone else. In this respect, an Alpha's nature could almost be called vicious. But Luo Yueqing never expected that Xi Zhoulu, an Omega, would be even more extreme than her.

She let out an exasperated laugh. While reminding herself that this was her twenty-million-credit benefactor, she couldn't help but blurt out, "If this isn't allowed, are you going to find a cloth to wrap me up in so no one can even see me?"

It was meant as a joke, but when Xi Zhoulu heard it, she actually nodded, looking as if she'd been inspired. Horrified, Luo Yueqing quickly pressed closer, sealing those thin lips to interrupt her chaotic and dangerous thoughts.

But a suddenly ringing phone was faster than her.

The two of them froze, instinctively assuming it was Xi Zhoulu's phone. But that ringtone…

Luo Yueqing tried hard to remember, finally confirming with the System that it was hers.

She couldn't be blamed. The original owner was burdened with debt for years and also had to cover her mother's medical expenses. She was always working and had basically no free time of her own, let alone time to make friends. So, her usual calls were either from debt collectors or people asking for money, with at most a few words about work.

But now she was clinging to Xi Zhoulu's thigh. Her debts were gone, she didn't have to worry about medical bills, and the money on her card was practically endless. There was no need to struggle anymore.

Consequently, the calls had become fewer and fewer by the day, until her phone fell completely silent, with no one calling anymore.

Seeing her pause, Xi Zhoulu took the initiative to ask, "Are you going to get that?"

She had a lot of business to attend to and her phone rang often, so she was particularly understanding. Not only was she not annoyed by the interruption, she even urged Luo Yueqing to answer.

"It's probably a wrong number…" Luo Yueqing couldn't be bothered to get up and find her phone.

But after ringing once, the phone immediately started ringing again without pause.

Both of them frowned at the same time.

"Go get the phone. I'll call someone to come clean the room," Xi Zhoulu urged, her voice hoarse.

The room was a mess, and the bed was in an even more unsightly state. It was just that they had been too tired before and couldn't fight off their exhaustion, so they had hastily fallen asleep on the sofa.

Now that Luo Yueqing had caused another round of mischief, the sofa was naturally no longer fit for sleeping either. They could only force themselves to stay awake and call for help.

"Wait until I've tidied up a bit before you call," Luo Yueqing said, turning to look around. No matter how thick-skinned she was, she couldn't help but blush. They had indeed made too much of a mess.

Xi Zhoulu agreed.

Then, Luo Yueqing threw off the thin blanket and got up. Perhaps because they were on the coast, even though it was past early autumn and nighttime, the weather was very hot. It didn't feel cool even without a stitch of clothing on.

Xi Zhoulu glanced over instinctively, then lowered her eyes and looked away.

No wonder this person had complained a bit. It really was a bit much. They had both slept lightly, and there were still plenty of marks left when they woke up.

She then recalled Luo Yueqing's earlier suggestion. The image from before flashed through her mind: a slender waist covered in a thin sheen of sweat, looking even more delicate and soft in the dim light. A red, swollen bite mark served as a special kind of brand, imprisoning it.

Xi Zhoulu pressed her lips together. The suggestion she had just sternly rejected now seemed tempting.

It was her mark they'd be tattooing, after all…

Belonging solely to her.

Xi Zhoulu rolled those words over on her tongue, tasting the lingering sweetness of rose and honey. Sometimes, she couldn't tell if this was a reward for Luo Yueqing or for herself.

Compared to the acrid, lifeless scent of charcoal, the rose and honey mixed with the fragrance of red wine was clearly far more appealing.

Luo Yueqing said she was easy to kiss, but Xi Zhoulu felt Luo Yueqing was sweeter—so sweet that it made her develop a fondness for roses she'd previously found uninteresting, making her want to plant an entire garden full of them.

Xi Zhoulu pretended to glance over casually. Luo Yueqing had thrown on a loose shirt but hadn't even buttoned it before bending down to grab her phone.

The next second, after she answered, Xi Zhoukang's voice suddenly burst out.

"Sister Yueqing!"

Xi Zhoulu's expression turned cold, the chill in her eyes intensifying.

Looking at Luo Yueqing, she first froze, then frowned and asked directly, "Xi Zhoukang, how did you get my number?"

She turned her head to look at the sofa behind her. Xi Zhoulu had turned away, her attitude clear.

Xi Zhoukang's laughter faltered, then he chuckled sheepishly. "I got it from someone… By the way, Sister Yueqing, where are you now? I'd like to treat you to a meal. Are you free tomorrow?"

Walking toward the sofa, Luo Yueqing asked in a cold tone, "Which someone?"

Their social circles didn't overlap in the slightest. How could Xi Zhoukang have found someone to ask?

He pretended not to hear and asked again, "Tomorrow, are you…"

Luo Yueqing cut him off directly. "Who was it?"

Her tone was firm, leaving no room for refusal.

The woman on the sofa deliberately ignored her, even closing her eyes to feign sleep. Luo Yueqing found it amusing. After sitting down beside her, she tugged on the thin blanket. Xi Zhoulu pulled it higher, covering half her face.

Xi Zhoukang clearly didn't want to answer, but he couldn't change the subject. Gritting his teeth, he forced out, "It was my sister…"

Luo Yueqing raised an eyebrow and retorted, "Are you sure?"

Xi Zhoulu opened her eyes, the depths of her light gray-blue irises as cold as ice.

Perhaps because the lie was already out, Xi Zhoukang became much more natural, speaking quickly. "Of course it's true! I don't know anyone else, so I could only ask my sister."

Luo Yueqing started to laugh. Seeing the other woman still acting like a snail in its shell, she swung a long leg over and knelt directly on top of Xi Zhoulu.

Xi Zhoulu let out a muffled grunt. She watched Luo Yueqing lean down and press against her but didn't stop her.

"Sister Yueqing, you still haven't said if you're free. The last two times we met were too short, we didn't get to talk properly."

Luo Yueqing pressed her lips against Xi Zhoulu's, nuzzling them placatingly before putting the phone back to her ear.

Xi Zhoulu's expression softened slightly. She raised a hand to cup the waist of the person on top of her and then spoke: "Xi Zhoukang, I don't seem to recall that ever happening."

As her voice fell, Xi Zhoukang instantly went silent.

Xi Zhoulu asked again, "Hm?"

The woman on top of her pressed close again. This time it wasn't placating, but more like a punishment, complaining that she hadn't trusted her and had started giving her the cold shoulder the moment she heard his voice.

Xi Zhoulu tilted her chin up, cooperating with the other's mischief. The hand on that slender waist tightened, holding her firmly.

"Sister…"

"Xi Zhoukang, who at the company did you bribe?"

Xi Zhoulu was already compiling a list in her head. It couldn't have been one of her close confidants, otherwise Xi Zhoukang would have known Luo Yueqing was with her. He had only gotten Luo Yueqing's contact information and happened to call at this opportune moment.

Xi Zhoulu parted her lips slightly, indulging Luo Yueqing's exploration.

The interrogated Xi Zhoukang stammered, unable to get a single word out.
