VBNWDW - Chapter 24
Chapter 24
That night, a round moon hung amidst dark clouds. The shadows of nearby coconut trees stretched long, and the sea lapped ceaselessly against the sand with a soft rushing sound, filling the air with a salty, humid scent.
In the top-floor suite of the hotel, soft wall sconces lit up a room that was simply yet luxuriously decorated.
Though it was impossible to know exactly what had happened in the room, a glance at the widespread disarray was enough to guess the gist of it.
Clothes were strewn from the doorway to the two-meter-wide bed—a shirt missing its buttons, trousers kicked aside, and smaller, crumpled articles of clothing that showed faint traces of moisture.
The bed itself was a disaster. One pillow was on the floor, the other, a wrinkled mess, was tossed in the middle of the mattress. The bedsheet could have proudly raised its hand as the night's greatest victim; aside from the strange stains, it had suffered the miserable fate of being torn, a truly pitiful sight.
And yet, the two culprits were lying on the sofa, cuddled together under a thin blanket, fast asleep.
The sofa wasn't large. It would have been passably comfortable for one person, but it was a bit of a squeeze for two.
Xi Zhoulu was lying flat on her back, pressed against the inside, while Luo Yueqing was curled on her side in her arms, her face buried in the crook of Xi Zhoulu's neck.
Perhaps from the earlier exertion, a sheen of sweat still lingered on their brows, and their features were tinged with fatigue.
It was unclear what was happening under the thin blanket, but it shifted slightly. Then, Xi Zhoulu's brow furrowed, and she mumbled, exhausted and drowsy, "Luo Yueqing… stop messing around…"
Her voice, usually as clear as a babbling spring, was now hoarse and weak, as if speaking even a few more words would be too much effort.
The person in her arms, who may or may not have been awake, simply nuzzled against her neck. Disheveled hair covered half her face, but one could still make out her swollen lips, marked with the faint crescent of a bite.
That wasn't the only mark. Looking down, the teeth marks continued along her slender neck, across her straight collarbone and pale shoulders. There were even quite a few on the area that had been covered by black lace earlier, not to mention her waist and stomach.
Strangely, despite looking so ravaged, she exuded an inexplicable air of sated satisfaction. Combined with her naturally bright and stunning features, she was like a brave little fox that had successfully navigated a thorny path to steal some honey, now curled up contentedly for a nap.
The little fox was satisfied, but what about Xi Zhoulu, who had fed the fox, had to hold the fox as it slept, and had to endure the unconscious teasing of its tail?
She let out a soft hiss. Though she was so tired she didn't want to move a single finger, she still had to grab the other's wrist and pull her hand away from a soft, round place.
It wasn't that she couldn't let it be, but the woman was having some kind of dream and wouldn't stay still. It was incredibly annoying.
No sooner had she moved one hand than Luo Yueqing draped a leg over her. They were already pressed tightly together, and now there wasn't a sliver of space between them. A fine layer of sweat beaded where their skin met, making it feel terribly sticky.
Xi Zhoulu gave her a push and rasped again, "Hot…"
It wasn't that the room lacked air conditioning; it was that the two of them had been in such a hurry, tumbling onto the bed the moment they entered the room. Who had time to think about the AC?
The person was shameless, clinging to her without moving an inch.
Xi Zhoulu had no choice but to pull the thin blanket down, revealing a great deal of the scenery beneath.
She was in no better state than Luo Yueqing. Her skin was naturally pale, as delicate as fine white porcelain, and even everyday bumps and scrapes would leave bruises, let alone the other's wild abandon.
Finger marks from a tight grip on her waist, bruises from wrists being held down, fine lines left by canine teeth, and a random scattering of red plum blossoms—from the neck down, she was covered in the fox's tracks.
Just moments ago, Luo Yueqing had seemed pitiful, but now it felt like she got what she deserved. If you want to steal sweet fruit, you have to pay the price of a little pain.
As the blanket was pulled down, a cool breeze swept in, caressing their sweat-dampened skin and bringing a refreshing chill. With it, sleep became an irretrievable loss.
Luo Yueqing hummed and mumbled a few times but couldn't fall back asleep. In a hazy state of consciousness, she tilted her head up and nuzzled Xi Zhoulu's neck.
Her red lips brushed against delicate skin, pressing down on the throbbing pulse beneath before she gave a casual nip, leaving a faint red mark.
It was hard to say if it was morning grumpiness or an instinct etched into an Alpha's very bones, but she began to cause trouble before her eyes were even open.
Before Xi Zhoulu could stop her, a descending hand found its target, and a low gasp sounded.
A place explored just moments before required no further searching. It went straight to the spot marked earlier and applied a bit of pressure.
Xi Zhoulu wasn't fully awake yet and couldn't comprehend how merely feeling hot and pulling down the blanket a little had reignited a bonfire that should have been extinguished.
"Don't…" Her voice was utterly exhausted, so light it seemed a gust of wind could carry it away.
"Luo Yueqing," she warned, but the warning, ineffective on a normal day, was even less threatening now. It sounded more like an invitation, a game of push and pull.
Outside, the round moon was obscured by dark clouds. Perhaps because the night wind had grown stronger, the waves suddenly quickened their pace, crashing against the reefs one after another, stirring up a restless tide. White foam clung to the seaweed, making it look all the more pitiful and wretched.
Before Xi Zhoulu even opened her eyes, she hooked an arm around the other's neck, like someone tossed about by waves at sea, clinging desperately to the nearest piece of driftwood.
Luo Yueqing was clearly not a qualified Alpha. Perhaps because she was still half-asleep, she wasn't very considerate. Not only did she fail to hug her Omega back, but she was solely focused on burying her head in the soft places she wanted to go, moving with even more chaotic speed.
The unclosed curtains were lifted by the sea breeze, the beige gauze rising and falling, casting faint shadows on the floor.
Where couples had been strolling hand-in-hand and barefoot on the beach earlier, there was now not a soul in sight, only the quiet sound of the crashing waves.
Perhaps the time had come. Layer upon layer of huge waves built up, finally confident they could overwhelm the reef. The wind grew fiercer and the waves more violent, slamming against the rocks with all their might.
Xi Zhoulu's breath hitched, then became ragged and frantic.
She held Luo Yueqing tightly, the sweat on her forehead gathering into beads that trickled down, pooling in the triangular hollow formed by her collarbone and neck.
Only then did the culprit lazily open her eyes, a hint of a mischievous smile at their corners.
Perhaps influenced by her own pheromones, Luo Yueqing's eyes and hair color were strikingly similar to the rare and precious Ecuadorian Red Wine Rose—a clean pink in the center, with a rich, wine-red outer ring.
This was why, despite her more seductive features, people often overlooked her age, subconsciously feeling she was younger than others.
But at this moment, as a mist of moisture veiled those peach-blossom eyes, the wine-red at the edges of her irises blurred, becoming intense and hazy, and all the more predatory.
She looked at Xi Zhoulu with a beaming smile, like a fox delighted with its successful prank.
Xi Zhoulu glanced up and saw it, then raised a hand to cover her eyes.
This was, as she had learned through practice, the most effective way to stop her.
But Luo Yueqing was thick-skinned. Not only did she show no remorse, but she even let out a soft laugh, as if mocking someone for their earlier stubbornness.
I can't.
You're the one who has to call stop, CEO Xi.
Such wicked behavior was, of course, met with severe punishment from Xi Zhoulu. She once again bit down on the other's neck, this time with force.
Luo Yueqing sucked in a sharp breath, her arrogant demeanor vanishing completely. She immediately begged for mercy, "Gently, be gentle."
The pressure didn't lessen; if anything, it grew stronger, leaving a deep, circular mark on her neck.
"Are you a dog, Xi Zhoulu?" Luo Yueqing grimaced. She didn't need to look to know the wound was not small; after all, she had plenty of prior experience.
She regretted deliberately teasing Xi Zhoulu earlier, stretching her neck toward the other's mouth and insisting she have a taste first.
Well, now CEO Xi had not only learned how to apply the technique but seemed to have grown quite fond of it, leaving her marks on Luo Yueqing, bite after bite.
Xi Zhoulu ignored her. The little energy she had just recovered had been completely drained again. She was now too lazy to even lift a hand. If it weren't for that infuriating smile, she wouldn't have expended so much effort to bite her.
She shot the other a look that was part annoyance, part coquettish reproach, but the shameless woman took it as an invitation. Luo Yueqing scooted closer to her neck and said with a grin, "CEO Xi, why do you love biting people so much?"
She was still fixated on being bitten, completely forgetting all the mischief she herself had caused.
Why on earth did people like this exist? Or was this just the nature of Alphas?
Xi Zhoulu didn't respond, which only seemed to encourage Luo Yueqing. She touched her own neck, feeling the depth of the bite mark, then clicked her tongue and remarked, "That's a heavy one."
She compared, "Heavier than the one on my waist. I think you almost broke the skin."
The bite on her waist was also well-deserved. Xi Zhoulu had been indulgent, so Luo Yueqing had become reckless. The deck, the bathtub, and the big bed weren't enough; she started getting ideas about the floor-to-ceiling window. At that moment, Xi Zhoulu had been lying across her stomach, and with a turn of her head, she delivered a bite that brought tears to Luo Yueqing's eyes.
"Serves you right," Xi Zhoulu's voice was even hoarser, and she could barely form the words, but her tone was icy.
Luo Yueqing didn't get angry. She grabbed Xi Zhoulu's hand, placed it on her neck, and pressed her fingertips over the mark, rubbing it a couple of times before saying pitifully, "It really hurts."
Now she knew how to play the victim.
Xi Zhoulu looked at her, finally sighing. She helped rub the spot and said helplessly, "I told you not to mess around."
Where did she even get so many bad ideas?
Luo Yueqing just smiled, raising an eyebrow triumphantly. "There's another one, lower down," she said. "The one that broke the skin. That one really hurts."
Xi Zhoulu didn't speak, but her hand moved down a little. When Luo Yueqing spoke, her throat vibrated, making Xi Zhoulu's fingertips tingle, but she herself was unaware. A moment later, she started teasing again, "You're supposed to get a shot if a dog bites you… what about a person?"
"I wonder if I can still get a rabies vaccine now. If I wait until tomorrow…"
Xi Zhoulu stopped rubbing and gave her a quiet look.
Luo Yueqing instantly deflated. She chuckled, grabbed the other's hand, and pressed it placatingly against her own lips. "No need for a shot, no need."
Xi Zhoulu couldn't be bothered with her. That was just how Luo Yueqing was—sometimes she had to be cheeky, but then she would immediately chicken out. She was very childish.
But Luo Yueqing wasn't finished. She pulled the hand back to her neck and asked again, "Why do you like biting me so much?"
She'd never noticed this habit in Xi Zhoulu before.
Xi Zhoulu found her annoying and answered succinctly, "Easy to bite. Looks good."
What was so good-looking about a bite here and a bite there? Perhaps this was the villainess's unique aesthetic.
Luo Yueqing expressed her respect and said with a smile, "You like it that much?"
"Should I go get an exact copy tattooed on?"
Her peach-blossom eyes curved slightly. Her seductive face still held a rosy flush, and her smiling, moisture-laden eyes were utterly captivating, like a shimmering, clear lake. Her tone was light and bewitching as she made the heart-pounding suggestion, "Which one do you like best?"
"This one on my carotid artery? This one above my collarbone is nice too. Or…"
She guided Xi Zhoulu's hand downward, stopping at an extremely soft place, and then smiled again. "This one?"
"Would it be inappropriate for the tattoo artist to see?"
Xi Zhoulu pressed her lips together, saying nothing.
But Luo Yueqing still wouldn't stop. She moved the hand down again, continuing to offer different options. "My side? My thigh?"
"I think the one on the inside is the best-looking bite. Let's go with that one."
How could she compare which was the best-looking when she hadn't even seen it?
Xi Zhoulu's lips ground together, the emotion in her pale, grayish-blue eyes turning murky and dark.
