IVYSCP - Chapter 141
Chapter 141
Lately the demons of the Great Wilderness had been stirring restlessly. They all knew the New Sovereign had already left the Great Wilderness, and they were wholly convinced the New Sovereign intended to work with them from within and without to break the Great Wilderness seal and deliver the Demon Race from their bitter plight.
The Wuding Demon Lord had followed the New Sovereign away. Now only the two demon lords Youling and Qingyan remained in the Great Wilderness. When the New Sovereign emerged that day, every demon in the Great Wilderness witnessed it with their own eyes. Their hearts had already embraced a new ruler, and gradually they stopped heeding those two demon lords' orders, gathering near Infernal Cliff to wait for the New Sovereign's return and be led away from this cold, desolate, forsaken place.
The demons had not even gathered at the barrier's edge for half a day before word already reached every immortal sect through the watchtowers.
The Great Wilderness had been sealed for a hundred years. It was time to reinforce the seal anew.
In the beginning, Pei Yin had raised the formation for that sealing, with the Hundred Immortal Sects lending their aid. Any reinforcement of the seal could not do without this step.
And at that very moment, the New Sovereign in every demon's heart was doing as she pleased atop the Immortal Venerable.
Ling Qingyue sat astride Pei Yin, pinning both her hands down to keep her from moving.
Both of them were in disheveled clothes, their breathing a tangled mess, blushes rising on their cheeks.
Ling Qingyue lifted her chin smugly and grinned at the woman beneath her. "I won."
Pei Yin curved her lips. "Is that so."
Before the words even finished leaving her mouth, Ling Qingyue suddenly felt a numbing softness spread across her lower back. All the strength drained from her limbs at once, and the world spun before her eyes. In an instant she was the one pinned beneath.
Meeting the woman's smiling eyes, Ling Qingyue fumed. "Pei Yin! You cheated! We said no spiritual energy! You put a formation on me!"
"I did not. Qingyue, do not wrong me unjustly." Pei Yin leaned down and kissed her lips as she spoke.
Ling Qingyue was not so easily soothed. Her competitive fire blazed up all at once and she had to get to the bottom of this. "You didn't use a formation, then why'd I lose all strength just now?"
"A few days ago I studied acupoints with Grandmaster. I tried it just now." Pei Yin's tone was light and easy. "Seems it works rather well."
Ling Qingyue gnashed her teeth, unwilling to concede. "That's still cheating! You didn't tell me, I was caught off guard, this one doesn't count!"
The past few days had been dull. On a whim, Ling Qingyue had the sudden idea to test her physical skills against Pei Yin, no weapons, no spiritual energy. She had thought she would surely win. A sword cultivator losing in a physical contest to someone who sets up formations and arrays would be too humiliating.
Who knew Pei Yin had kept a trick up her sleeve!
Ling Qingyue tried to struggle. The moment Pei Yin's focus slipped, Ling Qingyue unleashed all her spiritual energy, trapping Pei Yin securely in her arms.
Pei Yin: "..."
Pei Yin: "Now you are the one cheating."
Ling Qingyue wrapped both legs around the woman's waist and held her from behind, her voice full of righteous confidence. "I already said this one doesn't count. If it doesn't count, what's wrong with me using spiritual energy? It's not like I said you can't use yours."
Pei Yin laughed softly and asked in return, "Are you sure you want me to?"
Ling Qingyue paused. Only then did she remember that Pei Yin's cultivation was far higher than hers. If spiritual energy were used, she would be the one at a disadvantage.
Her expression shifted. She said quickly, "No! You can't use it!"
Pei Yin let her hold her like this, releasing a sigh. "So overbearing."
"Isn't it allowed?"
Ling Qingyue rested her chin on her shoulder, turned her head, and with practiced ease caught a cool earlobe between her lips, then pressed down with gentle force.
Pei Yin's eyes darkened. "It is."
She had always been indulgent with Ling Qingyue. Once, this very thing had nearly earned her Chu Qianshan jabbing a finger at her head and calling her spineless.
After kissing her ear, Ling Qingyue followed the line downward to the side of her neck. Hot breath fell freely upon bare skin, drawing nearly imperceptible shivers.
Pei Yin lowered her head, feeling each touch, now light, now heavy. She asked a question she already knew the answer to. "In broad daylight, what are you intending to do?"
Ling Qingyue stopped, opened her mouth, and bit down. She waited until the woman gave a soft hiss of pain before loosening her teeth, then kissed and licked the tooth marks she had left behind, humming as she did. "As if the Immortal Venerable hasn't spent plenty of days in broad daylight debauchery before. What, the magistrates may set fires but the common folk can't light a lamp?"
As she spoke, her hands, resting on the woman's waist, swiftly undid the sash and pulled her clothes loose. She added smugly, "Anyway, I won, so you have to listen to me."
No winner or loser had actually been decided. This person was simply resorting to shamelessness.
But Pei Yin was not inclined to argue with her either. She leaned naturally into her embrace and let her do whatever she wished.
Ling Qingyue's movements were slow and deliberate. Listening to the breath in her arms gradually quicken, her heart felt utterly full.
She lowered her head and kissed a smooth shoulder, then opened her mouth and bit down. The new calluses on her hands from sword practice scraped roughly across a certain place...
"Mm..."
Pei Yin lifted her head. She could not help reaching out and grasping Ling Qingyue's wrist, using some strength to stop her. "Don't, too rough..."
Ling Qingyue turned her head and caught the trace of moisture slipping from the corner of the woman's eye. With wicked intent, she kissed it. "But you seem to really like it. Your reaction is so big."
The sword calluses on her fingertips were rough, but not painfully so. They only brought more acute stimulation.
Pei Yin's gaze went unfocused. In an instant she understood why Ling Qingyue had suddenly grown so diligent these past days, practicing sword day and night.
Physiological tears spilled from the corners of her eyes, only to be kissed away one by one by warm lips. Pei Yin suddenly regretted indulging Ling Qingyue today.
After it was over, Pei Yin lay on the bed. Ling Qingyue bent down to help her clean up.
The jade token at her side flashed and flashed. Only once Pei Yin had collected herself did she notice. She reached out to bring the jade token over. After seeing who had sent the message, she lifted her hand and rubbed the fuzzy head beneath her. "Come up."
Ling Qingyue lifted her head and licked the glistening moisture from her lips. "What is it? Who's looking for you?"
"Your master."
Ling Qingyue blinked, crawled forward two paces, and sprawled across Pei Yin's body, the side of her face pressed to the woman's chest as she listened to her heartbeat. One hand hooked a strand of hair and wound it idly around her finger. "What does she want you for?"
Surely they weren't being called to Shangtianqiong again? Hadn't they just gone to stay for two months?
Pei Yin stroked her bare back. Her voice carried the dampness of someone steeped in water. "She is asking me, in her capacity as Immortal Alliance Leader, to reinforce the Great Wilderness seal."
After the matter with the previous Immortal Alliance Leader, the seat had been left vacant. Wang Changming was then nominated as the new Alliance Leader.
"Oh." Ling Qingyue was not very pleased. "Then how long will you be gone?"
Reinforcing the seal would surely involve the Hundred Immortal Sects as well. She could not be bothered to tangle with those people, but she also did not want Pei Yin to leave for too long.
Pei Yin estimated. "About ten days to half a month."
Ling Qingyue sat bolt upright at that. "That long!? Then won't I be guarding an empty chamber for half a month!?"
The warm, damp place pressed against her waist and stomach was distinct and impossible to ignore. Pei Yin's gaze traveled downward from Ling Qingyue's face...
But Ling Qingyue took her face in both hands, her brows furrowed. "I'm going too."
Pei Yin would not refuse, of course. She wished for nothing more than for Ling Qingyue to cling to her at every moment of every day.
"All right, we shall go together."
As she spoke, Pei Yin raised a hand and stroked upward along Ling Qingyue's leg. Their eyes met. In unspoken understanding, no more words were needed.
Only, Ling Qingyue had kept today's contest on her mind all along. She was the winner. How could she be on the bottom? No matter what, she had to be on top.
Even if it nearly exhausted her to death. She did not even know how they had set off from Cangshan. She only remembered Pei Yin holding her while dressing her.
Pei Yin deliberately slowed the skyship's speed. They reached the Great Wilderness border in the evening of the following day. Quite a few immortal sects had already arrived.
The instant the skyship came to a halt, Wang Changming boarded it.
Ling Qingyue was lying across Pei Yin's lap, asleep.
Pei Yin gazed down at her, eyes soft. She reached out and stroked her face. "Your master is outside."
Ling Qingyue groggily turned her head and buried it in the woman's waist, her voice still thick with sleep as she coaxed, "Just tell her I didn't come."
Pei Yin glanced toward the door and pressed her lips together.
It was probably too late for that.
"Qingyue." Wang Changming's voice reached the chamber.
Half an incense stick later, Pei Yin emerged, leading a still somewhat drowsy Ling Qingyue by the hand.
"Senior Wang."
"Master."
Both offered their salutations. One was perfectly proper, the other was slumped crookedly as if she had no bones.
Wang Changming: "..."
Wang Changming could endure it no longer and barked, "Stand properly!"
Ling Qingyue made an "oh" sound and stopped leaning on Pei Yin.
Wang Changming looked at the disciple before her, and a nameless anger rose in her chest. To think that back at Shangtianqiong, Ling Qingyue had been a good disciple, perfectly observant of every courtesy and propriety. How had she become like this at Cangshan? Could not stand or sit properly, did not even carry her sword anymore.
Indeed, Cangshan was not a good place.
With serious business at hand, Wang Changming could only suppress her temper for now.
The sealing involved many immortal sects and required joint discussion. When the sect leaders and elders of those immortal sects arrived on the Shangtianqiong skyship, they saw a certain demon lazing off to the side, eating.
"..."
Had they not come today to seal demons?
Looking over, they saw the Sword Venerable and Immortal Venerable of Shangtianqiong right beside her, the Immortal Venerable occasionally reaching out to feed that demon.
"..."
They dared to voice their anger, but it was useless. Back when the matter of Ling Qingyue being a demon first arose, many immortal sects had expressed their displeasure and sought an explanation. Even if they could not kill her, they demanded that Ling Qingyue be expelled to the Great Wilderness.
But in the blink of an eye, not only had Ling Qingyue formed a Dao Bond with the Immortal Venerable, but even the Sword Venerable Wang Changming had publicly declared Ling Qingyue to be her one and only disciple. Anyone with objections could say it to her face.
Later, another rumor spread: Ling Qingyue carried the Demon Race's Sacred Relic within her body. If it fell into the Great Wilderness, the consequences would be unimaginable. A second Formless Demon Lord might arise. After that, the controversy around Ling Qingyue in the immortal sects diminished considerably, though quite a few people still harbored deep misgivings.
Ling Qingyue noticed that many people were looking at her. She did not mind. A couple of glances would not cost her a piece of flesh. She now had Cangshan and Shangtianqiong at her back. Her Dao Companion was the Immortal Venerable, her master was the Sword Venerable and Immortal Alliance Leader. Who would dare come forward and fault her?
Ling Qingyue narrowed her eyes, feeling extremely pleased. From now on, she was the king of the mountain!
Out of the corner of her eye, Pei Yin caught her delighted expression and the corner of her own lips lifted in turn.
What was she thinking about now that made her so amused with herself?
