ISBH - Chapter 37
Chapter 37: What a Coincidence
It was already evening when Han Tian woke up.
The aroma of food drifted through the air. Frowning, Han Tian rubbed her head, which ached as if pricked by needles.
This was not her room.
Her throat felt parched. Han Tian frowned and had just climbed out of bed when she saw Mo Sang walk in.
Mo Sang carried a cup of honey water. When she saw Han Tian was awake, a sweet smile broke across her face. "Sister, I was just about to wake you up..."
What had happened?
Since they met again two days ago, Mo Sang had been sulking. This was the first time Han Tian had seen such a happy look on her face.
Had Mo Sang already forgiven me?
Han Tian shook her head. She only remembered entering the private room with Mo Sang. Tempted by Mo Sang's beauty, she seemed to have made some decision at the time, but she could not recall anything that happened afterward at all.
No matter what had happened, Han Tian did not want to spoil this rare harmony between them. She smiled at Mo Sang on instinct. "Thank you."
Mo Sang looked down at Han Tian, naturally tucked the loose hair from her cheek behind her ear, and handed her the cup. "Drink slowly."
Only after finishing the water did Han Tian realize both she and Mo Sang had changed clothes.
Mo Sang had a superb figure. Tall and curvy, a born temptress, she now wore purple satin pajamas and looked both pure and seductive.
Only then did Han Tian notice her own pajamas seemed to be a matching set with Mo Sang's.
Hers were white pajamas. Han Tian was a little shorter than Mo Sang, and a certain part of her was several cup sizes smaller, so Mo Sang's clothes hung loose on her. With her youthful looks, her age was impossible to guess at the moment, and standing beside Mo Sang she looked like the younger one instead.
Had Mo Sang changed my clothes for me?
Han Tian stole a glance at Mo Sang, and the tips of her ears turned red again without her meaning it.
"After you fell asleep, I asked Uncle Li to pack up the food." Mo Sang set the cup on the nightstand, sat beside Han Tian, and nuzzled against her neck. "Sister, wear my clothes for now. In a few days I'll get clothes in Sister's size..."
In truth, one call would bring Li Ai over at once with clothes. Yet Mo Sang secretly loved seeing Han Tian in her clothes, as if Sister were covered from head to toe in her scent. That feeling left Mo Sang deeply pleased...
Han Tian had no idea what Mo Sang was thinking.
In fact, Han Tian felt uneasy all over at that moment.
Mo Sang kept her breathing very soft, letting it brush little by little against Han Tian's neck. Han Tian felt as if that patch of skin had been bitten, and heat spread fiercely...
Han Tian wanted on instinct to pull away, yet remembering the little vixen had only just calmed down, she did not want to provoke Mo Sang again, so she could only sit stiff on the bed and dared not move.
Luckily Mo Sang meant to do nothing more. After holding Han Tian a while, she stood up again with the cup, her eyes brimming with laughter, and gave her a light kiss on the cheek. "Sister, you're so cute!"
"The food is warmed up. Come out and eat quickly..."
Han Tian did not know what she could say. She only felt her whole body heating up.
Only after Mo Sang went out with the cup did Han Tian linger before leaving the room.
In the end she ran into the bathroom and splashed water on her face, and only then did the burning heat on her cheeks cool down.
When she came out, Mo Sang had already set out the bowls and chopsticks.
Only then did Han Tian realize she was not in the room Mo Sang rented across from hers, but in the house Li Ai had once brought her to.
This time Mo Sang sat close beside Han Tian. The room was very bright, and the hazy intimate light of dusk streamed through the large window reaching to the floor, making Mo Sang look too beautiful to seem real.
After Han Tian sat down, Mo Sang tilted her head and looked over with a bright smile.
The affection in Mo Sang's eyes was too open, and the mood between them too intimate. Han Tian dared not look a second time and hastily lowered her head to eat as if to hide it.
Han Tian had slept a long time and was already starving. She had to admit the cooking at Uncle Li's place was truly superb. The broth was rich and the flavors delicious, and even warmed up again, none of the goodness was lost.
"So delicious!" Han Tian ate with her head down while searching hard for something to say. "Today I was really rude. I just got drunk like that and must have caused you a lot of trouble..."
Uncle Li and the others treated Mo Sang like family. Getting drunk in the private room today must have left them a bad impression of her.
Han Tian felt a little down, though even she could not figure out why she wanted to make a good impression in front of Uncle Li.
Mo Sang ate very slowly.
She took a bite and glanced at Han Tian, looking lazy, yet her eyes were full of smiles.
"Uncle Li really likes Sister." Seeing Han Tian's upset look, Mo Sang sipped her red wine leisurely, and the smile in her eyes deepened. "Uncle Li even invited Sister to come eat again..."
In truth, when Mo Sang left with Han Tian, Uncle Li had not even reacted. While Mo Sang packed up the food, she even heard Uncle Li muttering with Aunt Li. "How silly I am, really. I thought Mo Sang was unhappy about work. Who would have thought the young couple just had a quarrel..."
...
Still, Mo Sang knew Han Tian had always been shy, so of course she would not repeat those words to her.
Han Tian took it to heart and visibly relaxed.
She looked at Mo Sang with eyes both touched and delighted. "That's because you took me there!"
"Uncle Li likes you, so he's kind to me for your sake..."
"Sister has a point." Mo Sang leaned close before Han Tian, resting her chin on one hand against the table. Perhaps the sunset softened her striking beauty, for a rare tenderness showed in her dark eyes. "Still, no one in the whole world likes Sister more than I do..."
As a fan, Han Tian loved Mo Sang's voice most. When Mo Sang wished, she could sing in all kinds of styles. Sweet ones, gentle ones, lazy ones, cool ones...
Yet this was the first time Han Tian realized Mo Sang's voice could be so alluring. Her tone turned a little husky at the end, like a breeze drifting through late spring, stirring the still water of her heart for no reason...
As if stung by something, a tingling feeling rose from the tip of her heart.
Han Tian held her bowl with her head almost buried in it, feeling the food in her hands lose almost all taste in that instant.
The little vixen across from her clearly had no notion of knowing when to stop. Seeing Han Tian like that, Mo Sang wickedly leaned in a little closer until their foreheads touched.
Here it comes again!
When Mo Sang wanted to cling, she was the most beautiful serpent.
Han Tian felt her mind turning hazy again. To keep from being completely devoured by the little vixen, she simply closed her eyes and silently recited the Heart Sutra in her mind. "Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, when practicing deeply the Prajna Paramita... form is emptiness, emptiness is form..."
Mo Sang had no idea Han Tian was on the edge of breaking down. She curved her red lips slightly and smiled with deep meaning. "Sister, do you know? When I heard you say you liked me, I wished I could let the whole world know we're together..."
Han Tian had never expected Mo Sang to say such a thing!
Had I ever said I liked Mo Sang?
Han Tian could no longer keep up her silent chant and opened her eyes wide.
"I..."
A bad feeling rose sharply in her heart. Han Tian racked her brain to recall, yet before she could make sense of anything, Mo Sang had wrapped an arm around her waist and settled her onto the sofa.
"Sister, eat slowly." Mo Sang smiled with extreme sweetness. Holding the stunned Han Tian, she casually turned on the television and tapped her mobile phone twice. "Sister, all of this feels like a dream..."
As Mo Sang's voice fell, the image from her mobile phone was cast onto the television.
"I like you..."
"I want to be with you..."
...
?!
Han Tian felt as if she were having a nightmare.
In the dream she had boldly confessed to the little vixen, and had even dared to kiss the little vixen on the cheek...
Mo Sang, meanwhile, looked extremely pleased.
She glanced at the red faced Han Tian on the television, then turned to look at the petrified Han Tian on her lap. Her gaze deepened as she leaned down to kiss Han Tian on the cheek.
"You're already mine! So you can't stay angry anymore..."
Han Tian stared at her reckless self on the screen, unaware of what she was doing, and felt everything go black. The bowl in her hands trembled on instinct!
How could I have said such shameless words?!
With that shake, all the remaining grains of rice in the bowl spilled out!
...
Han Tian's mind had already turned to mush. She reached out on instinct to clean up, yet the moment she lifted her head she bumped right into Mo Sang's head.
"Sister!"
Mo Sang's voice came from above, finally shedding its deliberate teasing.
A hand reached over and covered Han Tian's bumped forehead.
Han Tian's heart skipped. She looked up without thinking and met Mo Sang's gaze, which held a touch of helplessness.
Splattered with grains of rice, Han Tian's beautiful face lost its usual sharp edge and even looked a little disheveled.
"Don't move. Let me look."
Mo Sang moved away the hand covering Han Tian's head and leaned in gently to blow softly...
That familiar tingling feeling rose from her heart again. Han Tian sat stiff and lowered her head uneasily.
"It's a little bruised. I'll get the first aid kit."
Mo Sang gave Han Tian an exasperated look. Just as she was about to stand, a hand caught her arm.
The embarrassing video on the screen had already stopped. All around was very quiet, so quiet they could hear each other's breathing...
Mo Sang looked down, her eyes showing some confusion.
Han Tian pressed her lips together and felt her throat go strangely dry. She wanted on instinct to let go, yet a small voice quietly surfaced in her mind.
You were planning to accept her all along, weren't you?
Before, Han Tian had only wanted a drink to give herself courage. Before drinking she had already decided to accept Mo Sang's affection and try getting along, starting as friends.
Yet Han Tian had not expected her drunk self to lose all clarity and say so many embarrassing things straight to Mo Sang...
It seemed friendship was no longer possible.
Had they just become girlfriends like this?
But she might never meet such a person again in this lifetime!
When both of them had been hurt, Mo Sang's first reaction had been to protect her on instinct...
Mo Sang liked her even more than herself.
And she liked Mo Sang so much too!
...
In that instant her heartbeat raced faster and faster.
Han Tian lifted her eyes and tried to meet Mo Sang's gaze straight on. Her voice was so small in that instant it was almost inaudible. "I... I won't take it back."
"What?"
"I... I like you and I want to be with you!" Her heart pounding faster and faster, Han Tian bit down hard on her lower lip, closed her eyes, and shouted. "But let me say this first. I... I've never dated before. I don't know if I can be a good girlfriend. If you regret it..."
The rest of her words caught in her throat.
"What a coincidence." Carrying the shifting light of dusk, Mo Sang sank down into a kiss, her eyes shining with a brilliance Han Tian had never seen before.
"I've never dated either."
"But I think we can date once together..."
"A love that will never part in this lifetime..."
