ISBH - Chapter 35

Chapter 35: Kiss Her

Meeting Mo Sang's gaze, Han Tian instinctively wanted to step back, but she was already leaning against the sofa, and as Mo Sang leaned closer and closer, Han Tian shrank into the corner only to realize she had nowhere left to retreat...

Mo Sang narrowed her eyes and sat down beside Han Tian, resting one hand on the back of the sofa behind Han Tian and bringing her cheek close to Han Tian, like a bewitching beautiful snake coiling around its prey.

"Professor Han, do you not want to explain yourself?"

"I..." Under the pressure of Mo Sang's powerful aura, Han Tian no longer knew what she could say!

Probably because Mo Sang had always acted meek and submissive in front of Han Tian before, Han Tian had unconsciously let down her guard, and only now remembered that Mo Sang had once starred in a beautiful and dashing martial arts film, and that the Mo Sang before her was someone tens of thousands of female fans had called 'husband'...

"Mo Sang, calm down!" Han Tian took a deep breath and bit her lower lip, and her muddled mind finally regained a trace of clarity.

"Am I not calm enough?" Mo Sang raised an eyebrow and glanced at Han Tian with a hint of mockery: "If I weren't calm, Professor Han, could you still be sitting here intact?"

Mo Sang's gaze fell on Han Tian's collar. She clearly said nothing explicit, yet Han Tian understood her meaning almost instantly.

Han Tian glared at Mo Sang in extreme annoyance. She clearly wanted to put on a dignified front, yet her face flushed red as a tomato despite herself. Hating herself inwardly, Han Tian could only bite her lower lip and turn her head away in anger.

"Mo Sang, I've always thought of you as a little sister," Han Tian did not quite dare to look at Mo Sang and could only stare at a corner of the sofa and lower her voice: "Perhaps for you it has already become a very distant memory, and because time beautifies everything, I became someone you can't forget..."

"But I never had any other thoughts about you..."

"Mo Sang, wouldn't it be good for us to stay as we were before?" Han Tian lifted her head and looked at Mo Sang with gathered courage and a hint of expectation.

She really was not good at handling this sort of thing. Professor Han had always lived by the rules and had never imagined that one day a little vixen like Mo Sang would appear in her life...

"As before?" Han Tian still wanted to reason with her patiently, but Mo Sang suddenly gave a soft laugh. Her beautiful eyes narrowed slightly, and she suddenly pressed a finger against Han Tian's lips.

"You mean you want our relationship to go back to how it was when we were in high school?" Mo Sang raised her eyebrows playfully.

With her lips sealed by Mo Sang, Han Tian could only blink and nod.

Mo Sang curled her lips dangerously.

"Then did you know that when I was sixteen I already wanted to kiss you?" Mo Sang looked slowly at Han Tian. Han Tian sensed trouble instinctively and was about to pull back, but Mo Sang had already wrapped an arm around Han Tian's waist and kissed her on the cheek, then nipped at her earlobe, her smile growing more wicked: "Just like this..."

"When I was seventeen I read a book, and that night I had a dream, and in the dream you and I together..."

"Stop talking!" Mo Sang's breath brushed ambiguously past her ear, and a tingling numbness seemed to rise from the base of her spine. Han Tian felt as if her whole body was about to burn up, and somehow found the strength to break free of Mo Sang's hold and cover Mo Sang's mouth with her hand.

In that instant, Han Tian felt her entire worldview suffer a tremendous shock!

So the bright and positive, pretty and innocent little girl she had raised had already developed that kind of feeling for her without her knowing?

Even though she had guessed Mo Sang liked her, Han Tian had assumed it was only a filter created by time, and had never imagined Mo Sheng had already liked her so long ago...

But had Mo Sheng not had a boyfriend back then? What on earth was going on...

For a moment Han Tian's heart was in complete turmoil. She lowered her head, desperately wishing a crack would open in the ground for her to crawl into and calm down, so she could escape this awkward scene...

Yet Mo Sang clearly would not let Han Tian have her way.

"Professor Han, do you hate me so much that you don't even want to look at me?" Mo Sang's eyes darkened. She caught the hand Han Tian had used to cover her mouth and pinched Han Tian's chin, half forcing her to lift her head...

Meeting Han Tian's widened eyes, Mo Sang curved her lips and kissed Han Tian squarely on the lips without hesitation.

Han Tian pressed her lips tightly shut and instinctively tried to struggle, but Mo Sang bit her on the lip.

The bite was not heavy, leaving only a small tooth mark at the corner of Han Tian's mouth...

Yet thinking of being pinned down by Mo Sang all day, the grievances built up in Han Tian's heart all surged up in that instant. Her nose stung, and before Han Tian realized it, tears were already flowing on their own...

Mo Sang's breathing was a little rapid, but her kissing stopped.

"Still such a crybaby..."

Mo Sang's voice was a little hoarse and still sounded angry, yet her movements were very gentle as she kissed upward to the corner of Han Tian's eye and kissed away her tears.

Han Tian did not know if it was her imagination, but she seemed to hear a trace of helplessness in Mo Sang's tone...

Han Tian's tears fell even harder: the glorious and upright good Cub she had raised with her own hands, how had she turned into this fierce and unreasonable bully?

...

"Stop crying! If you keep crying I'll do more than kiss you..." Mo Sang kissed Han Tian fiercely on the lips, and only then pulled away with a cold face.

"I never had any so-called boyfriend," Mo Sang's voice was a little tight and her manner carried a touch of irritation: "Because I knew you had someone you liked, and I knew you were distancing yourself from me, I made up a boyfriend so you wouldn't abandon me..."

Han Tian stopped sobbing without realizing it. Only then did she remember: from beginning to end, she had never met that boyfriend of Mo Sheng...

So Mo Sang's feelings had started back then?

But Mo Sang had gone way too far today!

Han Tian curled up, turning her head away, unwilling to look at Mo Sang's bewitching face.

How could she do this...

"Yet even when I put on such a humble posture, you still abandoned me in the end..."

"You already knew you were going to leave, didn't you?"

...

Mo Sang looked at Han Tian, her eyes deepening, but her face showed a cold laugh as she released the hand locked around Han Tian's waist and sat aside with a cold face.

"How pathetic!" Mo Sang curled her lips in self mockery: "I wholeheartedly looked forward to growing old with you, while you didn't even tell me you were leaving..."

...

Was this why Mo Sang was angry?

Han Tian could not help lifting her head to stare blankly at Mo Sang. She sniffled, and suddenly felt the tears would not fall anymore.

She suddenly felt she had no right to cry, because she... seemed to have really been a jerk to Mo Sang.

Han Tian did not know how to explain her choice back then. Whatever her reasons, it was a fact that she had tried to leave Mo Sang behind...

"I never meant to hurt you..." Han Tian could only speak through sobs at last, quietly wiping her tears.

"Because I was never in your plans for the future," Mo Sang's fingers twitched as she looked at Han Tian's wronged little wife expression, though her face remained full of sarcasm: "If I hadn't come looking for you, you probably would never have come looking for me again, right?"

Han Tian bit her lower lip tightly. She found she had no way to argue, and could only lower her head in silence and stand up, intending to leave this room that left her restless and upset.

Mo Sang did not stop Han Tian's movements. She picked up the wine glass beside her and took a sip with a dark face, and only when Han Tian reached the door did she speak again in a hoarse voice: "Weren't you curious what I said to you when I was drying your hair earlier?"

"I said..."

"Han Tian, this is what you owe me!"

Watching Han Tian's back suddenly stiffen, Mo Sang curled her lips in triumphant laughter. She drank another sip of wine, her eyes revealing a possessive madness, her voice slow and deliberate word by word: "I've liked you for so many years. In this lifetime, don't even think of running away again..."

Mo Sang's gaze felt like thorns in her back, and Han Tian all but fled in panic.

That night Han Tian barely slept at all.

The moment she closed her eyes, Mo Sang's face appeared on its own: frowning Mo Sang, smiling Mo Sang, coquettish Mo Sang, and even... that Mo Sang who had kissed her so fiercely...

The thought that that person lived right across from her made it impossible for Han Tian to calm down!

She finally fell asleep in the morning, and in her dream Mo Sang turned into a beautiful snake that coiled around her. The beautiful snake nibbled at her earlobe, its voice sweet and cloying: "Sister, I like you so much..."

...

The alarm rang!

Han Tian opened her eyes and stared blankly at the ceiling for a long while, her eyes vacant.

Only then did Han Tian belatedly realize: Mo Sang was probably furious, since she had not called her 'Sister' once since they reunited...

How could she make Mo Sang stop being angry?

Han Tian quietly opened her mobile phone and tapped into the Super Topic, asking the group of familiar fellow fans: "What should I do if I made my little sister angry?"

The friends seemed to have high emotional intelligence and would probably give reliable advice.

Almost as soon as Han Tian posted, before she had time to refresh for replies, a call from "Girlfriend" came in on her mobile phone.

"Breakfast is ready..." Mo Sang's voice on the phone was still curt, and she hung up as soon as she finished.

What kind of attitude was that from the little girl?

Han Tian put down her mobile phone hard and looked at the photo of a certain someone on her lock screen. She gritted her teeth and poked at that person's face, then rolled around hugging her blanket twice before resignedly getting up to wash...

While washing her face, sure enough, Han Tian found two huge dark circles hanging under her eyes...

Yet a certain someone formed a sharp contrast to Han Tian's state. In Li Ai's words, Mo Sang, who was supposed to be "lovesick and unable to sleep at night," wore simple loungewear and no makeup, yet her skin was translucently fair, her lips rosy, and her eyes bright, like a siren who had fed on essence...

Han Tian ate her breakfast with her head down and said nothing.

After years of neither eating nor drinking, Han Tian had assumed she had little craving for material things, until after returning she rediscovered how delicious food could be.

It had to be said, Mo Sang's cooking was really good.

Who would have thought that the Mo Sang who had just made a whole table of dishes had once cooked food that was almost inedible?

Thinking of the little girl back then who smiled sweetly and obeyed her every word, and looking at the cold faced Mo Sang before her, Han Tian sighed quietly in her heart.

She had better find a way to coax Mo Sang back into a good mood soon!

After all, it was her own fault...

While Han Tian was thinking about how to coax Mo Sang, Mo Sang across from her was not looking at Han Tian at all. She kept her head down looking at her mobile phone, and, discovering something, suddenly gave a soft laugh.

Yet the moment she looked up at Han Tian, Mo Sang immediately returned to an expressionless face.

"Thank you..."

Seeing Mo Sang turn into this the moment she saw her, Han Tian felt her heart suddenly grow unbearably heavy, and even the delicious food she had just eaten lost its flavor.

She thanked Mo Sang listlessly, and was about to head out with her head down when Mo Sang suddenly looked at Han Tian and spoke: "Wait, what are your plans today?"

"I have to go out to meet someone today." Han Tian glanced secretly at Mo Sang, but happened to meet Mo Sang's gaze head on.

Mo Sang glanced coldly at Han Tian: "Perfect, I want to go out today too."

"You've already eaten the payment. Shall we set off in ten minutes?"

...

Was Mo Sang going out with her too?

Seeing Han Tian's dazed look, Mo Sang's expression darkened further, and the smile that had lifted her lips while she looked at her mobile phone sank: "What, Professor Han, aren't you even willing to give me a ride?"

Han Tian only then remembered Mo Sang had not driven here.

She hurried home to grab her car keys and mobile phone, and when she came back out, Mo Sang had already changed clothes and was leaning against the wall playing with her mobile phone.

She had no idea what Mo Sang had seen on her mobile phone, but the corners of Mo Sang's mouth revealed a smile once again.

Mo Sang wore a simple white sleeveless dress, her hair tied in a bun on top of her head. The dress fit her extremely well and outlined her slender figure. The hem just covered her knees, revealing a stretch of fair calf...

Mo Sang wore light makeup, and sunglasses covered most of her face, leaving only her crimson lips and delicate little chin exposed.

Every time she saw Mo Sang, Han Tian was amazed, and now that she knew what Mo Sang had looked like as a teenager, looking at Mo Sang filled Han Tian with an added sense of pride: the fact that the little girl could grow into her present beauty was partly her own achievement.

When Han Tian came out, Mo Sang naturally put away her mobile phone, walked over, took Han Tian's hand, and led her into the elevator.

Han Tian felt a little awkward and instinctively wanted to pull free, but Mo Sang turned to look at her...

She could not see Mo Sang's eyes behind the sunglasses, yet Han Tian's survival instinct was strong, and she gave up struggling almost on reflex.

...

She did not know what was wrong with the weather lately. Han Tian only felt the air in the elevator was stiflingly hot, making her whole body heat up, and her hand grew sweaty without her noticing...

Han Tian did not know if it was her imagination, but Mo Sang's body also seemed a little tense.

Han Tian stared fixedly ahead, not daring to turn her head at all, and could only sense Mo Sang behind her looking at her mobile phone and laughing again with great delight.

Han Tian suddenly understood why Mo Sang had wanted to look at her mobile phone when they ate at Mo Sang's place: because Han Tian now desperately wanted to look at Mo Sang's mobile phone...

The elevator soon reached the parking lot, and Mo Sang's phone rang...

Han Tian glanced back without thinking and caught sight of the characters 'Li Ai' at the top of the mobile phone, but Mo Sang hung up and switched it straight off.

Mo Sang climbed into the passenger seat once again.

"Where are you going?" Her thoughts thrown into chaos by the sudden hand holding, Han Tian only managed to ask after Mo Sang was seated in the car.

"No rush, I'm waiting for someone." Mo Sang gave a light yawn and leaned against the seat: "You go handle your business first. I wouldn't dare delay Professor Han's affairs..."

Hearing Mo Sang's tone turn wrong again, and fearing this Mo Sang, who was now like a ticking time bomb, would say something else Han Tian could not accept, Han Tian did not dare speak again and drove with full concentration.

Han Tian's destination on this trip was the prison.

Shang Yan had confessed to all his crimes and, for attempted murder, had been sentenced to twenty years in prison.

Han Tian felt she needed to see Shang Yan once.

Because Mo Sang's face was too famous, and fearing it would cause a stir, Mo Sang stayed in the car.

Shang Yan seemed to be waiting for someone, and obvious disappointment crossed his eyes when he saw the visitor was Han Tian.

Shang Yan was a quiet and shy young man who was extremely serious at work. Back then, even though the Research Institute had assigned Shang Yan to Han Tian, if Shang Yan's own ability had not been good enough, Han Tian would have refused him.

Privately, Han Tian actually admired Shang Yan a great deal.

Looking at her once capable assistant turned into this figure in a prison uniform, Han Tian pressed her lips tightly together, at a loss for what to say.

"Sorry." Seeing Han Tian, Shang Yan spoke first instead, a bitter smile on his lips: "Thank goodness you're all right, or I couldn't atone even if I died ten thousand times..."

"Why?" Han Tian took a deep breath and gathered her courage to look into Shang Yan's eyes.

She had always focused on research and rarely grew close to people. Although Shang Yan was called Han Tian's assistant, in Han Tian's heart he was one of her few friends at the Research Institute.

"You come from a good family and you're gifted. You surpass ordinary people in every way, and given time you were bound to achieve great things. I heard you recently found a girl you like and were already planning to propose, and you had already published quite a few of the papers you were expected to... Why would you do such a thing?"

"Why?" Shang Yan looked at the confusion in Han Tian's eyes and curled his lips in self mockery: "Professor Han, someone like you who was born at the top of the pyramid would never understand!"

"I'm two years older than you, yet I can only be an assistant under you. What you can research in a month takes people like us a year or even longer... You're like a mountain pressing down on my head until I can't breathe..."

"Am I supposed to be your assistant for the rest of my life?"

"I was momentarily possessed," Shang Yan took a few deep breaths and looked away: "Trying to hurt you was my fault, but I could only push away this mountain that's you in my own way..."

...

So it really was only jealousy?

Han Tian bit her lower lip tightly.

She still remembered what Shang Yan had looked like when they first met: the young man in an old fashioned plaid shirt, looking as if he had not washed his hair in a long time, shy in expression, yet his eyes bright as he looked at her: "Professor Han, you're so cool..."

After so many years together, Han Tian had never imagined Shang Yan harbored such thoughts.

"Two months ago my alma mater asked me to recommend a researcher, and I recommended you. Because their reply never arrived, I never told you..." Han Tian took out the reply letter and handed it to Shang Yan, and looking at his disbelieving face, she laughed bitterly: "Take good care of yourself. Let's... never meet again!"

...

Han Tian turned away.

Behind her came Shang Yan's choked voice saying "Sorry," but Han Tian did not look back.

Walking out the door, Han Tian suddenly felt dispirited.

If she had told Shang Yan a few days earlier about how she had privately been helping him get into the Research Institute, perhaps things would not have turned out this way.

But everything was too late!

The human heart was truly unfathomable.

And she herself seemed truly clumsy, always making everything worse without meaning to...

...

This mood reached its peak when she came out and saw her own car.

Thinking of the angry Mo Sang, Han Tian felt even more dejected: just as she now clearly knew Mo Sang was angry, yet could think of no way to soothe her...

Yet Mo Sang was not in the car.

Han Tian took out her mobile phone and was about to call when Mo Sang walked over carrying two cups of milk tea.

"I'm done. Where are you headed?" Han Tian breathed a sigh of relief and quickly let Mo Sang get into the car.

"Here," Mo Sang stuffed a cup of milk tea straight into Han Tian's arms and got into the driver's seat herself: "The fool I'm waiting for hasn't come yet, and I'm not in much of a hurry. You don't mind if I drive..."

Han Tian gave a soft Mm. She felt a little dejected and inexplicably did not want to go home, so she sat listlessly in her seat drinking the milk tea Mo Sang had bought.

Because she was in a bad mood, Han Tian could not taste the milk tea at all.

"I want milk tea..." While waiting at a red light, Mo Sang beside her suddenly spoke.

Han Tian instinctively held the other cup toward Mo Sang, but Mo Sang glanced at her, pressed her lips together, and did not open her mouth...

Han Tian's heart skipped a beat, and as if possessed, she held the milk tea she had been drinking to Mo Sang's lips.

Meeting Han Tian's nervous gaze, Mo Sang took a sip. She looked up at Han Tian, licked the straw suggestively, and curled her lips slightly: "Yours seems to taste better..."

The green light came on, and Mo Sang turned back to keep driving.

Yet Han Tian's heart could no longer calm down.

Han Tian pretended to be natural as she took back the milk tea and sipped it. Her ears burned inexplicably, and the milk tea she had thought bland turned out to be rich and mellow, its sweetness seeming to spread to the bottom of her heart...

Mo Sang's mood seemed a little better.

Perhaps today she could find a way to stop Mo Sang from being angry...

Han Tian glanced at Mo Sang's perfect profile, pressed her lips together, and secretly opened Weibo to enter the Super Topic.

Earlier her mobile phone had been on silent while driving, and she had not looked at it. Now, seeing tens of thousands of unread messages on her mobile phone left Han Tian stunned.

For a moment Han Tian even thought her mobile phone was glitching.

But an instant later she knew what had happened.

Mo Sang's Girlfriend: What should I do if I made my little sister angry?

Only then did Han Tian remember Mo Sang had changed her Weibo ID.

Her heart tightened, and she scrolled down. Sure enough, the tone of the comments had changed on the spot.

Sang Sang's Little fan: Holy shit, what a bold ID!

Sang Sang Keep Going Today: Love rival, draw your sword!

Sang Sang's Boyfriend: There are always girls coveting my girlfriend...

Tell Me to Study: You already have Sang Sang, yet you are still thinking of coaxing your little sister?

...

And the comments after that were all cries like "aaaaah" and "I'm sour with envy" and "I'm so jealous"!

Han Tian opened Mo Sang's Weibo with trembling hands.

The reason she was getting so much attention was a repost.

Mo Sang had reposted the question Han Tian asked, and added two words: Kiss her.

They met another red light.

"Don't take it too much to heart. That assistant of yours isn't worth moping over..."

"Seeing how miserable you look, I'll take you for something delicious today..."

Mo Sang spoke with feigned casualness as she drove.

There was no reply for a long time.

Could this silly Sister be overthinking again?

Mo Sang frowned and turned her head, when a soft touch suddenly met her lips.

Meeting Mo Sang's suddenly darkened eyes, Han Tian lowered her gaze and fought to control her shyness, her cheeks flushed red, her voice faltering and so quiet it was almost inaudible:

"I, I kissed you! You can't stay angry anymore..."
