IVYSCP - Chapter 113
Chapter 113
"Are you ready?"
Three days later, Qiu Feng came to the guest hall and asked Ling Qingyue.
Ling Qingyue lazily lifted her eyelids and looked behind her, but she did not see Yu Liuli.
She had not seen Yu Liuli since the banquet that day.
Ling Qingyue fixed her gaze on Qiu Feng. "Where is Liuli? I am about to perform Blood-Splitting Demonization. Why has she not come?"
It was impossible that Yu Liuli would not come, unless someone did not want her to.
Qiu Feng's expression was calm. "She is asleep."
After speaking, her gaze swept over the two people before her. "We agreed before. When you leave the Great Wilderness, you must take Liuli with you."
"What about you?"
"Do not worry about me."
Seeing that Qiu Feng was unwilling to say more, Ling Qingyue exchanged a glance with Pei Yin and did not press further.
Qiu Feng led them out of the Demon Palace and deeper into the Great Wilderness.
They rode on Pei Yin's skyship. Even with the formation blocking it, the demonic qi floating in midair climbed up like strands of mycelium, silk by silk, desperately trying to force its way into the skyship. Something within seemed to be drawing them in.
The demonic qi was too thick.
Ling Qingyue raised a hand and pressed it over her heart. The demonic markings spreading from her heart began to burn. She was being affected too.
From the corner of her eye, she glimpsed Qiu Feng sitting quietly to the side. Qiu Feng had not changed her posture since she sat down, and her gaze rested on the tabletop without shifting.
"Are you alright?" Pei Yin asked softly.
Ling Qingyue relaxed her faintly furrowed brow and gave her a smile. "I'm fine."
"What about you?" Ling Qingyue reached out with concern toward Pei Yin's wrist.
With the demonic qi so dense and Pei Yin's own pure spiritual energy, she feared it would affect Pei Yin.
Pei Yin said nothing. She simply moved her wrist a little closer toward Ling Qingyue. The fair wrist was like jade, cool and smooth to the touch.
Ling Qingyue moved her fingertip and sent a thread of spiritual energy inside to check for herself.
As soon as the spiritual energy entered her meridians, it was wrapped by another surge of profound spiritual energy and guided along the meridian gates and acupoints.
A cultivator's meridians were of the utmost importance, yet Pei Yin led her spiritual energy through every gate and acupoint like this. Ordinarily, checking meridians only required a general overview of the spiritual energy circulating within, but Pei Yin's spiritual energy practically pulled and dragged her strand of spiritual energy along as it toured through her entire meridian system.
After withdrawing her spiritual energy, Ling Qingyue hastily pulled her hand back. Even the way she looked at Pei Yin turned strange.
The feeling just now was as if Pei Yin had taken her hand, reached inside her clothes, and then very meticulously… touched her.
Pei Yin looked back at her with perfect composure, as if she saw nothing wrong with it at all.
Perhaps it was because Pei Yin's eyes were too clear and innocent, but Ling Qingyue doubted her own thoughts for a moment. After all, Pei Yin's appearance was very deceptive.
Yet in the next instant, she saw the fleeting smile at the corner of Pei Yin's lips, so quick she almost failed to catch it.
She did it on purpose!
Ling Qingyue gave her a soft snort and ignored her.
Qiu Feng paid no attention to the small glances passing between them. She still stared absentmindedly at the tabletop before her.
Half an incense stick later, the skyship suddenly shuddered.
A hand swiftly grasped Ling Qingyue's wrist, then pulled her up entirely and held her in an embrace.
"What is happening?" Ling Qingyue looked toward Qiu Feng.
This was the Great Wilderness. Qiu Feng was a Demon Lord, and she had pointed out the path. She must know.
Qiu Feng still sat steady as a mountain, one hand bracing against the corner of the table. She spoke slowly. "We have entered the storm region."
"The storm region?"
"You can also think of it as the old lair of the demons. Oh, wait. There are no demons there anymore. It is also where the Formless Demon Lord was born. Tens of millions of years ago, it was an ancient yao beast battlefield. For some unknown reason, a storm region stretching a hundred li gathered there. Within the storm, danger lurks everywhere. There may be humans, there may be yao, and there may be demons. They could be long dead, or they could still be alive." Qiu Feng stood and looked at the two of them, her lips curling into a smile. "A skyship cannot hide within the storm. I suggest you two proceed on your own."
As she spoke, Qiu Feng's form suddenly dispersed and turned into a cloud of black mist that rushed out of the skyship.
Ling Qingyue's brows knit together. She quickly pulled Pei Yin outside the skyship. When she saw the scene beyond it, Ling Qingyue understood why Qiu Feng had said those last words.
The speed of the storm was tremendous. Dust, sand, and gravel churned all around, demonic qi entwined within. The entire storm took on an eerie, bizarre black-purple color.
The skyship was already at the edge of the storm. The humans, yao, and demons Qiu Feng had mentioned were all eroded within the storm until they had completely lost their original appearance. Their eyes were the same black-purple as the storm. They scrambled madly toward the skyship, dense and teeming like an ant colony, trying to claw onto the skyship and drag this intruder down into the storm, to be swept into it alongside them.
"Go!"
Pei Yin put away the skyship and pulled Ling Qingyue along as she chased after Qiu Feng's aura.
A protective barrier formed from golden spiritual energy surrounded them, the only spot of brightness in the entire storm.
Qiu Feng had abandoned them on purpose.
"Why did she do this?" Ling Qingyue did not understand.
If she was going to help her with Blood-Splitting Demonization and wanted them to take Liuli with them after it was done, why trip them up halfway?
Ling Qingyue glanced back at the things chasing them and immediately felt her scalp prickle.
The deeper they went, the more of these things there were.
Soon, the two of them were surrounded.
Ling Qingyue narrowed her eyes. She sensed a surge of demonic qi coursing within.
It was Qiu Feng's demonic qi. She was guiding these things to besiege them.
Ling Qingyue turned her wrist, and a wooden sword covered with golden patterns appeared in her hand. Pei Yin likewise drew the God-Striking Whip.
"Be careful," Pei Yin quietly urged.
Ling Qingyue nodded. "Don't worry."
Then two streaks of light streaked through the storm. The red one was swift and sharp, arcs of sword shadows fierce and decisive. The other golden gleam flickered nonstop, and wherever it passed it left behind a golden thread. In the end, the threads converged and connected into one formation after another. The formations rotated and interlocked, their combined power astonishing.
After the two of them joined forces and broke through the encirclement, Ling Qingyue returned to Pei Yin's side. She keenly noticed that as she approached, Pei Yin hid one hand behind her back, pretending to clasp her hands behind her.
But that hand was usually the one she used to hold Ling Qingyue's.
Ling Qingyue reached out to grab it. "What happened to you?"
In her nervousness, she reasoned that these things were not that powerful and should not have been able to injure Pei Yin, yet she feared that her own overconfidence had made her miss something.
Pei Yin was caught. Her movements stiffened for a moment. "It's nothing."
"If it's nothing, let me see."
Ling Qingyue used a little force and felt Pei Yin struggling and resisting. She raised her eyes and glared at her.
Pei Yin sighed and brought her hand forward.
Two palms lay one over the other. The top hand was fair and slender. Along the clearly defined knuckles, lines of dark red, so deep they were nearly black, spread from the fingertips all the way to the back of the hand. It was obvious at a glance that this was nothing good.
Ling Qingyue immediately grew anxious. "How did this happen?"
Pei Yin pressed her lips together. "I don't know either."
"Does it hurt?" Ling Qingyue frowned as she looked at her, as if she herself were the one in pain.
Pei Yin answered truthfully, "It doesn't hurt. I don't feel anything."
Ling Qingyue stared at Pei Yin and squeezed her fingers, watching her reaction to confirm whether she really felt no pain.
Pei Yin let her knead and squeeze as she pleased, her expression not shifting in the slightest.
Ling Qingyue looked at her with suspicion. "You're not pretending, are you?"
That felt like something Pei Yin was capable of doing.
Pei Yin let out a soft laugh. "Pretending? Pretending what?"
She turned her hand over, holding Ling Qingyue's. Pei Yin lowered her head slightly and said in a low voice, "If it really hurt, I would ask you to kiss me."
Ling Qingyue: "…"
How could an Immortal Venerable have the nerve to say something like that!
But even though it was neither painful nor itchy, Ling Qingyue still worried about these red lines that had suddenly appeared.
