Married in a Daze - Chapter 129

Chapter 129

After He Shuangshuang and Ji Lu left, Lu Ruyun had just closed the door when Qin Zhenzhen hugged her from behind. The two of them hadn't seen each other for a week, and now that she could finally hold her person, Qin Zhenzhen was unwilling to let go.

Lu Ruyun covered Zhenzhen's hands with her own, turning her head. "Cake first?"

Qin Zhenzhen shook her head. "I just finished dinner, I'm not hungry yet."

Lu Ruyun placed the cake on the coffee table and took two steps. Qin Zhenzhen immediately pressed close against her body. Lu Ruyun laughed helplessly, "Zhenzhen, if you hold on like this, I can't move."

"Then don't move," Qin Zhenzhen said, unconcerned. "Let me hug you for a bit."

Lu Ruyun stood by the sofa, letting her wrap her arms around her waist, the hold gradually tightening. She really missed Qin Zhenzhen too. Every time she returned home to face the empty apartment, the once laughter-filled rooms, that longing became even more tormenting. Every night, watching Qin Zhenzhen act spoiled in their video calls, she wished she could fly over immediately.

However, her temperament was steady and composed by nature. No matter how much she missed her, she wouldn't cling to Qin Zhenzhen like an octopus.

The two of them stood hugging by the sofa for a long time. Satisfied, Qin Zhenzhen nuzzled her face against Lu Ruyun's back, like a docile kitten, her expression still somewhat reluctant when she finally let go. Lu Ruyun glanced at her, lowered her gaze, and smiled faintly.

After resting for a while, the supposedly 'not hungry' Qin Zhenzhen ate nearly half of the small cake. While eating, she nudged Lu Ruyun with her foot. "Teacher Lu, feed me."

Lu Ruyun looked at her sideways, extended a finger to dab a bit of cream, and smeared it on Qin Zhenzhen's lips. Before she could react, Lu Ruyun leaned in, capturing her lips. The fragrant aroma of cream spread between their lips and tongues, and Qin Zhenzhen's unique scent drifted under Lu Ruyun's nose, making her kiss deeper, and deeper still.

Qin Zhenzhen was kissed until she was breathless. Lu Ruyun had also eaten some cake earlier, and the lingering sweetness on her tongue as she kissed made Qin Zhenzhen feel like melting cream, collapsing limply in Lu Ruyun's embrace.

The temperature between their bodies rose sharply; a single spark could start a prairie fire. Lu Ruyun's kisses slowly moved from her lips downwards, unbuttoning her clothes, her agile tongue delving inside.

The half-eaten cake on the coffee table in the room still emitted an enticing fragrance. Qin Zhenzhen's voice was soft, sweet, and coquettish, like an oriole, with low, melodious moans. Lu Ruyun couldn't help but go even deeper.

After it ended twice, Qin Zhenzhen lay on the sofa like a puddle of water, even lifting a hand feeling like an effort. Her throat was also a bit hoarse. Lu Ruyun went to pour a glass of water and handed it to Qin Zhenzhen. After watching her drink, she asked, "Want to take a bath?"

Qin Zhenzhen nodded, lacking strength. "Yes. Teacher Lu, carry me."

She put down the glass, tilted her head, extended both arms, a faint smile playing on her face. Lu Ruyun obediently wrapped her arms around her waist, only to be pulled back by her. Qin Zhenzhen rested her chin on Lu Ruyun's shoulder, her light laughter ringing in her ear. "I'm teasing you."

After saying that, Qin Zhenzhen casually picked up two pieces of clothing from the floor, covered herself, and walked towards the bathroom.

Lu Ruyun only snapped back to reality when she heard the sound of rushing water from inside. She sat on the sofa, her gaze falling on the box on the coffee table. She picked it up to look: it was anti-hangover lozenges. Remembering that earlier she had seen Qin Zhenzhen and Hu Jing returning from outside, Qin Zhenzhen had been holding this very box. Zhenzhen wouldn't proactively prepare such things herself, so it could only have been prepared by Hu Jing.

Lu Ruyun held the box in her hand, turned to look in the direction of the bathroom, lowered her eyes for a long moment, then stood up and walked into the bathroom.

A few minutes later, the sound of rushing water from the bathroom still continued, interspersed with one or two indistinct, soft, coquettish moans. The glass door reflected two entangled bodies. Sounds escaped through the door crack, enough to make one blush.

By the time Qin Zhenzhen and Lu Ruyun finished their bath and came out, it was already past ten. Before going to bed, Lu Ruyun sent He Shuangshuang a message, asking if she had reached the hotel.

He Shuangshuang was organizing her schedule when she heard her phone buzz. She picked it up to look: it was from Lu Ruyun.

Did you find a hotel?

He Shuangshuang glanced around and quickly replied: Found one.

Seeing the reply, Lu Ruyun felt relieved. Qin Zhenzhen asked, "Who is it?"

"Shuangshuang."

"I asked if she found a hotel."

After saying that, Lu Ruyun sent He Shuangshuang another message, then placed her phone on the nightstand, turned off the light, and went to sleep.

After reading the message, He Shuangshuang closed her phone just as Ji Lu finished her shower and came out. She inadvertently glanced over, froze for a few seconds.

This wasn't the first time she'd shared a room with Ji Lu. Last time in City M, they had made do for one night. So when Ji Lu said it was hard to find a hotel nearby and suggested sharing a room, she thought about it for a few seconds and agreed.

But the last time they shared a room was in winter. She wore cotton pajamas, wrapping herself up tightly, wishing she could even wear socks. It was completely different from the scene before her now.

The weather now was clearly not cold, so Ji Lu, emerging from the bathroom, had simply put on a sleeveless nightgown. The silk nightgown wasn't very form-fitting. Her legs were visible beneath the hem, appearing and disappearing. He Shuangshuang looked for several moments before averting her gaze.

Ji Lu walked over to the sofa, her expression no different from usual. She used a dry towel to wipe her damp hair. Seeing He Shuangshuang motionless, she frowned. "What's wrong?"

He Shuangshuang snapped back to reality, quickly putting the documents in her bag, clearing her throat lightly. "I'm going to wash up."

Ji Lu hummed in acknowledgment, picked up the hairdryer, and started drying her wet hair. As He Shuangshuang passed by her, strands of long hair brushed against the back of her hand, tickling. She looked down at Ji Lu. From her elevated angle, she had an unobstructed view of the alluring scenery at Ji Lu's chest. Her steps faltered; she almost tripped over her own feet.

Ji Lu gave her a puzzled look. Amid the buzzing of the hairdryer, she didn't clearly see He Shuangshuang's movement, simply resuming drying her long hair. He Shuangshuang, however, hurriedly walked into the bathroom, taking several deep breaths.

When she came out again, Ji Lu was already in bed. The bed was still arranged as before, with two quilts, each occupying half. After the earlier incident, He Shuangshuang felt somewhat awkward facing Ji Lu. She dawdled on the sofa for a long time—hair dried, Weibo scrolled through, even yesterday's videos watched over and over—yet stubbornly refused to get into bed.

Ji Lu, waiting in bed, grew drowsy, dozed off, then tilted her head to look beside her. He Shuangshuang still wasn't in bed. Rubbing her eyes, she got up and walked to the sofa, intending to see what she was doing. Only when she got closer did she discover He Shuangshuang had already fallen asleep.

She was just sitting there dryly on the sofa, head tilted to one side, phone still in her hand, the screen still playing a video. Ji Lu reached out to turn off her phone, gave He Shuangshuang a nudge, and said softly, "He Shuangshuang."

"He Shuangshuang, go sleep in bed."

He Shuangshuang mumbled something, shifted her body, seeming very uncomfortable. Ji Lu looked at her with exasperation. Sleeping in this position, she'd definitely ache all over tomorrow morning.

She grabbed He Shuangshuang's wrist and called out, "He Shuangshuang."

He Shuangshuang, disturbed in her sleep, frowned and forcefully pulled her hand back. Ji Lu, unable to dodge in time, crashed right into her. With this contact, Ji Lu blinked, fully awake now.

Her hands were still pressed against two soft mounds, not daring to exert force. She wanted to get up carefully. Her movements were slow, while also paying attention to whether He Shuangshuang had woken up. She tilted her head and met He Shuangshuang's newly opened eyes.

He Shuangshuang stared at her for a few seconds, then looked down at their positions. Ji Lu was lying on top of her, hands still pressed against her chest. He Shuangshuang had the habit of not wearing a bra after showering, so beneath her pajamas was nothing. At this moment, her two soft mounds were held by Ji Lu. He Shuangshuang's mind was muddled for a moment. "You..."

Ji Lu jumped away like a startled rabbit. Her movement was too forceful, bumping into the coffee table behind her. The things on the coffee table swayed a couple of times. He Shuangshuang looked at Ji Lu's bright red face and asked, "What are you doing?"

Ji Lu bit her lip, her voice slightly lower. "Actually, I saw you weren't sleeping, so I came to tell you to go to sleep."

He Shuangshuang shifted her body. The area that had just been touched felt uncomfortable. Her face flushed slightly. "Is this how you usually call people to sleep?"

Ji Lu nodded, then shook her head vigorously. "No."

After saying that, sensing the atmosphere was still awkward, she simply stated, "It's because you didn't get into bed, so I came to tell you to sleep. I just wanted to pull you, but who knew you suddenly yanked me and pulled me over."

"You understand, right?"

Watching her anxious explanation, He Shuangshuang nodded, pursing her lips. "Understood."

Ji Lu breathed a sigh of relief and stood up. "Still sleeping?"

He Shuangshuang also stood up. "Yes."

The two lay in bed, the atmosphere somewhat awkward. Neither spoke. After a good while, Ji Lu finally said, "Are you asleep?"

All the lights in the room were off, pitch black. Hearing Ji Lu's voice, He Shuangshuang turned her head, her eyes bright in the darkness. "Not yet."

Ji Lu lay in bed under the thin quilt. A faint, almost imperceptible fragrance seemed to drift from beside her. She said softly, "What are you thinking about?"

He Shuangshuang chuckled. "Thinking about how relationships between people are really strange."

A year ago, she would never have imagined lying in the same bed with Ji Lu. Forget the same bed—even meeting without arguing would have been impossible. But now, not only were they sleeping in the same bed, they were also whispering to each other.

Ji Lu, however, upon hearing this, thought she was thinking about something else. Her voice grew even lower. "Are you thinking about Miss Zhang?"

He Shuangshuang paused at the question.

Ever since the day Duan Qiuhan gave that interview, she had deliberately avoided thinking about Zhang Yiyao. These past two days, she had also consciously avoided news about her. Even knowing the exact day she was flying out of City A, she still hadn't gone to see her off. Hearing Ji Lu ask now, she remained silent for several minutes.

The room was quiet for a moment. After a long while, He Shuangshuang finally spoke. "Actually, she wasn't like this before."

Her voice was very low, tinged with an indescribable sadness. Ji Lu proactively reached out and took her hand. Under the covers, He Shuangshuang's body tensed. Her attention was completely on their clasped hands. "What are you doing?"

Ji Lu looked at her sideways, her tone unchanged. "When I was little, every time I cried, my mom would hold my hand like this."

He Shuangshuang was amused by her. Sweat gathered in her palm; their hands became sticky and damp. After holding for a few seconds, Ji Lu also seemed to feel this method wasn't quite appropriate. She cleared her throat lightly. "Don't misunderstand. I just wanted to offer you some comfort."

"No misunderstanding."

He Shuangshuang's voice still carried a hint of laughter. "With you, I really couldn't misunderstand anything."

Ji Lu: ...
