Married in a Daze - Chapter 98

Chapter 98

The wrap party was booked at a restaurant in the city center. Qin Zhenzhen had eaten there a few times before, so she went ahead with Lu Ruyun. Ji Lu wanted to tag along, but she had been forcibly given the day off.

They arrived a bit early. Staff members were already chatting in the private room. Seeing them walk in, they greeted, "Zhenzhen, Teacher Lu."

Qin Zhenzhen, holding Lu Ruyun's hand, nodded at them. They walked to the table at the very back. Zhang Qian had already arrived. She was talking to a girl playing a supporting role beside her. Hearing movement behind her, she turned and smiled. "You're here."

"Sister Qian," Qin Zhenzhen called out. Lu Ruyun also followed with, "Sister Qian."

Zhang Qian smiled, her eyes crinkling. "Come, sit. Chen Feng will be a bit longer; he's coming with Director Yu. Let's chat first."

Qin Zhenzhen nodded and sat down next to her. Zhang Qian poured a cup of tea for each of them and sighed. "It's over. Who knows when we'll get to work together next. I'm going to miss this."

Qin Zhenzhen also agreed obediently. "I'll miss you too, Sister Qian."

To be fair, Zhang Qian and Chen Feng had been really good to her. Whenever there was something fun or tasty, they'd think of her. They often brought her little snacks for no reason, and when the weather turned cold, they'd even taught her secret tips for keeping warm. Qin Zhenzhen truly loved working on Director Yu's set.

But no banquet lasts forever. No matter how much you like it, you have to part ways eventually.

Zhang Qian sighed. "Yeah."

"I'm going to the restroom. You two chat."

As she stood up, Qin Zhenzhen also rose. "Sister Qian, I'll go with you."

Zhang Qian smiled and nodded. "Alright."

After Qin Zhenzhen and Zhang Qian left, Lu Ruyun sat at the dining table. People came over to chat with her from time to time, and she would respond with a light smile. The private room was spacious, but she felt somewhat stifled. After staying for two minutes, she left the room.

The window in the corridor was still open, letting in the cold wind. She felt the pressure in her chest ease up a bit, much more comfortable.

A few staff members were chatting as they walked over from not far away. Lu Ruyun instinctively moved closer to the window. Fortunately, the staff didn't notice her and continued chatting among themselves.

"Did you see Weibo this morning?"

"Which one?"

"Which one could it be? The one about Lu Ruyun's affair."

"Didn't they say it was a misunderstanding? Where's the affair? Her friend already clarified."

"I told you you're young, and you still don't believe it. A clarification doesn't mean it's the truth. Just think about it honestly. If nothing was going on, would she go over every day? Accompanying walks, shopping? Don't you know Lu Ruyun used to have the nickname 'Goddess of Reclusiveness'?"

"I don't believe it. Cloud Fairy isn't that kind of person."

"That's just standard fan mentality, deceiving yourself."

"Alright, alright, let's not talk about it once we go inside. Qin Zhenzhen and Lu Ruyun will be here soon."

The playful, noisy voices drifted into the private room. Lu Ruyun, who had been hidden behind the window, stepped out. She sensed someone looking at her and looked up. Qin Zhenzhen was standing not far away.

"Zhenzhen."

Qin Zhenzhen blinked, masking the thoughts in her eyes, pretending everything was normal. "Why did you come out? And standing there in the wind, aren't you cold?"

Lu Ruyun shook her head. "Not cold."

Zhang Qian, who had jogged a few steps to catch up behind Qin Zhenzhen, said, "Zhenzhen, let me tell you, recently..."

She paused halfway, smiling lightly. "Ruyun, you're out here too?"

"Should I go in first?"

Qin Zhenzhen walked forward a few steps, standing in front of Lu Ruyun, and smiled. "Let's go, let's go in together. It's cold outside."

Zhang Qian rubbed her arms. "It really is cold. Let's go, let's go in."

After the three of them entered the private room, the room fell silent for a moment. The noise seemed to have been abruptly cut off. The atmosphere was awkward. Lu Ruyun glanced at everyone and followed behind Qin Zhenzhen in silence.

Not long after they were seated, Chen Feng and Director Yu arrived as well. With everyone present, dishes started being served. Qin Zhenzhen and Lu Ruyun were pulled aside by the group for photos first, to prevent everyone from being too drunk for a group photo by the end, so they took it early.

After the photos, she and Lu Ruyun were dragged into playing games by the crowd. Her luck was terrible; she kept losing. After downing four glasses of beer in a row, Qin Zhenzhen complained, "Let's change the game! This game and I don't get along!"

Her slightly resentful tone made everyone laugh. Director Yu waved his hand. "Okay, okay, let's change it."

"Zhenzhen, which one do you want to play?"

Qin Zhenzhen thought for a moment. "Anything's fine, as long as it's not this one."

So they played Truth or Dare and dice guessing. Qin Zhenzhen's luck was abysmal; she lost every bet, drinking until her head spun. Lu Ruyun couldn't bear to watch anymore and drank several glasses for her.

The dinner party still hadn't ended past nine. Everyone was full and chatting leisurely. Yu Changlin and Chen Feng were talking about matters from the set. Zhang Qian was on a phone call. Qin Zhenzhen sat on her stool, dazed from the alcohol, her hand unconsciously reaching for her glass.

Lu Ruyun, afraid she'd drink more, had no choice but to swap the wine in front of her for a soft drink.

Zhang Qian hung up the phone and turned to see Qin Zhenzhen still clutching her drink, sipping away. She laughed. "Ruyun, maybe you two should head back first. Zhenzhen seems drunk."

Qin Zhenzhen's behavior wasn't just 'seeming' drunk; she was completely intoxicated. After finishing her drink, she tried to stand up but was pulled back by Lu Ruyun, who wrapped an arm around her and held her close. Lu Ruyun thought for a moment and said, "Sister Qian, then we'll take our leave."

She picked up Qin Zhenzhen's bag, said goodbye to Director Yu and Chen Feng, and headed out.

Driving was definitely out of the question. Lu Ruyun called a designated driver. Once Qin Zhenzhen was drunk, she leaned against Lu Ruyun and dozed off lightly. Looking at her sleeping face, Lu Ruyun suddenly remembered a time before when Qin Zhenzhen had gotten drunk, barged into her apartment with righteous indignation, and arrogantly took over her world. Back then, a drunk Qin Zhenzhen was all claws and pride.

Completely different from now.

Lu Ruyun's fingers brushed Qin Zhenzhen's cheek as she lowered her eyelids.

Qin Zhenzhen shifted uncomfortably, resting her head on Lu Ruyun's shoulder and muttering, "Ruyun."

Lu Ruyun glanced sideways. Hearing her voice, she just held her tighter, resting her head on top of Qin Zhenzhen's hair.

Arriving at the apartment entrance, the driver helped support Qin Zhenzhen inside. Qin Zhenzhen showed no signs of sobering up. She was placed on the sofa. Lu Ruyun called her name several times with no response. Left with no choice, Lu Ruyun had to help her to the bathroom, assisting her with washing up and changing into pajamas.

The upstairs bedroom posed too high a difficulty coefficient for Qin Zhenzhen in her current state. Lu Ruyun had to settle her in the study. Just as she put her down and was about to go take a shower, she heard Qin Zhenzhen whisper, "Lu Ruyun, I feel awful."

As she spoke, she began to sob quietly. Lu Ruyun immediately panicked, calling softly, "Zhenzhen?"

"Zhenzhen, wake up."

Called several times, Qin Zhenzhen opened her eyes dazedly. Her eye rims were red, her eyes misty. Her cheeks were flushed from the alcohol. She blinked and let out a light laugh. "Ruyun."

Tears still hung at the corners of her eyes, her expression smiling, looking particularly comical. But Lu Ruyun couldn't laugh. She only felt a dull ache in her heart, as if a hand was gripping, twisting, and churning it, making it hard to breathe.

"Zhenzhen."

Qin Zhenzhen blinked, her long eyelashes fluttering like butterfly wings. She stretched out both hands. "Hug."

Lu Ruyun leaned down and hugged her. Just as she was about to pull away, Qin Zhenzhen increased her grip, tightly wrapping her arms around Lu Ruyun's neck, pulling Lu Ruyun's head down towards her.

A scent that seeped into the bones, along with the lingering smell of alcohol—identical to the fragrance on Lu Ruyun herself—drifted into her nostrils.

Lu Ruyun disliked the smell of alcohol, but for the first time, she felt this scent was so alluring.

Qin Zhenzhen just held her like that, her body burning hot. Uncomfortable, she squirmed, her hand deftly slipping under Lu Ruyun's clothes, resting on her chest. Lu Ruyun instinctively grabbed her hand. "Zhenzhen."

Her resistance made Qin Zhenzhen very dissatisfied. Her pretty brows furrowed, and she punished Lu Ruyun by biting her earlobe.

It wasn't gentle like usual. Her teeth applied a bit of force. It actually hurt quite a bit.

But Lu Ruyun just endured the pain, letting her bite. She also slowly released the hand that had been holding Qin Zhenzhen's. Qin Zhenzhen, pleased, a smile appearing on her face, her still-drunken bright eyes holding delight, her hands roaming freely over Lu Ruyun's body.

Qin Zhenzhen was only wearing pajamas. With all this squirming, her clothes had already opened wide, revealing large patches of red skin. Lu Ruyun tried to prop herself up slightly with one hand, but before she could rise, Qin Zhenzhen pulled her back down.

Like a bewitching spirit, she entangled herself with Lu Ruyun wholeheartedly, using both hands and feet, not allowing Lu Ruyun to move an inch. Lu Ruyun felt as if she'd been pulled into a deep pool; the moment she tried to move, she was immediately dragged back.

The temperature in the room gradually rose. Clothes fell one by one beside the tatami mat. The suggestive atmosphere grew increasingly thick. Their breathing changed its rhythm, becoming soft and lingering. Their movements seemed tireless, desperately seeking.

Lu Ruyun couldn't remember when she fell asleep. When sunlight streamed into the room, she opened her eyes to see Qin Zhenzhen still sleeping lightly beside her. After a night, a few more red marks had appeared on her body. Lu Ruyun pulled the thin blanket over her.

Qin Zhenzhen slept soundly and sweetly. When the blanket covered her, she even burrowed deeper into it, like a cat, showing none of last night's wildness, so well-behaved it made one's heart ache with tenderness.

Lu Ruyun gazed at her tenderly. The morning sunlight danced upon her, adding countless halos of light.

The ringing of a mobile phone shattered the room's tranquility. Lu Ruyun turned to look and saw He Shuangshuang's name displayed on the screen. She pressed her lips together and answered. "Shuangshuang."

He Shuangshuang said something on the other end. Lu Ruyun lowered her gaze to look at Qin Zhenzhen, her hand stroking her beautiful face and long hair, saying softly, "No, I won't be going over for a while."

"Mm, you take good care of Yaoyao."

She hung up the phone. Qin Zhenzhen snuggled closer to her, wrapping both arms around her slender waist, resting her head on her chest. "What's for breakfast?"

Lu Ruyun put down her phone. "When did you wake up?"

Qin Zhenzhen answered honestly. "When you answered the phone."

So she had heard her phone call just now but chose not to ask about it. Lu Ruyun felt a slight stir in her heart. She tucked the blanket more securely around her and asked softly, "What would you like to eat? I'll make it."

Qin Zhenzhen smiled frankly. "I want to eat you."

Lu Ruyun: ...
