DDT - Chapter 177

Chapter 177: Immortal Venerable × Meow Meow Cat (Epilogue End)

The instant that golden divine power shattered the Soul Refining Forbidden Curse the demon cultivator had finally condensed, the already disheveled cultivator violently spat out a large mouthful of black, demonic blood. This was the second time today that the array for the ancient curse had backlashed against him!

Compared to the first backlash, which was caused by a single hole in the array, this time, the divine power that erupted from Chi Junluo had torn the formation to shreds. The heaven-defyingly powerful energy of the ancient curse directly struck its creator, the demon cultivator. Having lost its outlet for a continuous stream of demonic qi, the Devil's Heart Grass, which was still wildly releasing demonic energy inside his body, could find no escape. It could only forcibly widen the demon cultivator's already fragile meridians, which had been corroded by demonic qi over countless years. The agony of having his meridians repeatedly pierced and ravaged by the highly corrosive energy caused the demon cultivator, who had not suffered such torment in many years, to twist his face in extreme pain. A fierce wind howled through the air, blowing back the wide hood of his cloak that had concealed his face. The crowd of human cultivators, demons, and divine beasts, upon seeing the powerful demon cultivator's ugly face—covered in terrifying dark spots, his flesh sagging loosely—and his bald, barren head, couldn't help but show looks of disgust. Some of the more powerful cultivators even secretly took out the mirage stones they had bought in bulk and hidden in their storage bags, surreptitiously recording the demon cultivator's rare and horrifyingly savage appearance.

They had already decided that once this incident was over, they would install these mirage stones on their sects' grand screens for all their disciples to see. This was the ghastly fate that awaited cultivators who succumbed to their inner demons and fell into the demonic path!

With his current, extremely high level of cultivation, the demon cultivator was perfectly aware of the movements of the ants around him, but he no longer had the mind to care about such trivial matters. The immense demonic qi from the Devil's Heart Grass had begun to frantically destroy his body. If he didn't do something to remedy the situation, he might die right here and now!

Due to the vast difference in their power levels, the crowd of onlookers gawking at the demon cultivator's miserable state was completely unaware of the approaching danger. It wasn't until they saw an extremely dense, pitch-black demonic qi erupt from his body that they realized they had no time to react and dodge such a powerful, indiscriminate attack. It was a stark reminder that spectating could be a dangerous pastime!

However, neither the demon cultivator nor the onlookers had anticipated what would happen next. The overwhelmingly powerful, indiscriminate attack did not land on the crowd as expected. In an instant, circular arrays filled with mysterious golden symbols appeared all around the demon cultivator. Although they looked like thin layers that could be pierced with a single poke, they managed to completely contain the erupting demonic qi within the space immediately surrounding him. Even though there seemed to be numerous gaps between the arrays, not a single wisp of the usually pervasive demonic qi could escape.

Soon, the onlookers heard a blood-curdling scream issue from the demon cultivator, who was now enveloped by the arrays and the extreme darkness of his own demonic qi.

That heart-wrenching howl finally snapped the terrified crowd back to their senses. Dozens of great powers among the human cultivators reacted swiftly, immediately putting distance between themselves and the scene. They joined forces to lay down a series of interlocking arrays in the ancient forest of the Southern Xuan Kingdom. This group of human experts were all old veterans who had participated in the war that ended the ancient era. The joint formation they were creating was a layered killing array developed by the human cultivators of that time. It could be used for both offense, to kill a target within the formation, and defense. It had been many, many years since these human experts had used such a joint array, and they never expected a day would come when it would be needed again. With their past experience working together, they quickly set up the formation and adjusted all the arrays to a defensive mode. Killing was no longer the priority; their current task was to contain all the attacks from the demon cultivator's final, desperate struggle within the formation. A demon cultivator on the verge of ascension, unleashing a full-power strike, could absolutely annihilate the entire Nine Nether Profound Sky in a short time. This was what the cultivation world had rarely seen in the last few millennia: self-detonation. Even though the demon cultivator was currently restrained by a nine-tailed golden divine beast, people never liked to place their fate in the hands of others. They had to control their own life and death.

Clearly, Chi Junluo had no interest in studying the significance of what this world's top-tier human cultivators were doing. A moment ago, after she had completely unleashed this mysterious golden power, she distinctly felt that it was even more abundant than in the previous world. She was completely immersed in this formidable strength. Unlike in the past, when she had to explore and figure out how to use this energy, Chi Junluo now felt something awakening in the depths of her heart. This power was entirely at her command. She no longer needed to search the depths of her soul for memories on how to use it, because her soul's instinct now told her that this was completely and utterly her own ability.

Its name was Law.

If the Chi Junluo from previous worlds had known how to use this ability, she might have been incredibly surprised, amazed, or excited. But now, after the return of her power world after world, she seemed to have become a different person—a self she had never known.

Or perhaps, this was the real Chi Junluo.

Watching the dazzling golden light and the masterful use of that golden power from within the sea of consciousness, the Heavenly Dao E Feng understood. Chi Junluo was step by step returning to her original self, her truest self. The master of the God Realm was coming back!

This golden power was the divine power of the Main God. The Main God was the being who established the Laws. The Laws of all things in all the myriad worlds were set by the Main God. It was clear that the awakening Main God had already grasped how to wield her divine power.

The thin layer of arrays trapping the demon cultivator, which looked so fragile, was in fact the manifestation of the power of Law in this world. The demon cultivator was not trapped by an array; he was trapped because the Law forbade his demonic qi from leaving his body.

And so, the human experts busy setting up their joint formation suddenly discovered that the demonic qi surrounding the cultivator trapped by the golden nine-tailed divine beast's formation was growing thinner and thinner. In the end, the remaining wisps of demonic qi were absorbed back into the demon cultivator's body on their own.

Because his body had been forcibly compressed with the demonic qi of an entire Devil's Heart Grass, and the Law forbade that qi from leaving him, his body, which should have been unable to bear the energy, was forced to maintain its basic humanoid container form. The demon cultivator was caught in a contradiction imposed by the Law, truly experiencing a fate worse than death.

With a slight flick of her tails, Chi Junluo's divine power lifted the Demon Crown Prince, Yun Qian, who had been trying to make himself inconspicuous, and brought him before the demon cultivator, who had collapsed to the ground, too weak to support himself.

Immortal Venerable Qingyun silently watched the rapidly unfolding events. She did not interrupt the nine-tailed divine beast busying herself behind her—or rather, the lover she had yearned for and journeyed with through six worlds.

Now was clearly not the time to settle the score with her dear one over the few worlds where she had left without a word.

The dense crowd of divine beasts from various clans waiting in the sky had fallen silent and prostrated themselves the moment the golden divine power appeared, offering the highest form of respect from the divine beast clans of the God Realm.

The nine-tailed being before them was not a beast. She was their Main God.

The Main God could establish Laws, but she could not add or subtract certain established existences. She couldn't make the immense demonic qi of the Devil's Heart Grass vanish into thin air, nor could she directly make the demon cultivator disappear. The demon cultivator could be made to die through conventional means like assassination, but to erase his very existence would involve a vast network of worldlines. Pulling one thread would unravel the whole tapestry. It wasn't something that could be accomplished with a simple command. It was theoretically possible, but unnecessary.

Chi Junluo issued a new Law. A bridge formed of one small golden array after another appeared between Yun Qian and the demon cultivator. The demonic qi began to surge into Yun Qian's body at a visible rate. As the male lead of this world, the Child of Destiny most favored by this world's Heavenly Dao, the world's rules sensed that Yun Qian was absorbing a massive amount of demonic qi that might cause his body to explode. The rules quickly adjusted Yun Qian's body through the power of the Heavenly Dao, essentially granting the world's male lead the ability to contain a much larger quantity of demonic qi.

After about a quarter of an hour, the immense demonic qi from the Devil's Heart Grass had been properly settled into the male lead Yun Qian's body by the world's rules. Chi Junluo tossed Yun Qian, whose character profile had been rewritten by the rules, directly back to the Demon Realm. She then created simple boundaries separating the Demon Realm, the Human Realm, and the Cultivation Realm, restoring the balance between the three. With a look of disdain, she moved the human cultivators, who were stunned by the tremendous changes that had occurred in such a short time, to a distant location. She needed to open a passage to the God Realm in this spot to lead the various divine beast clans she had hidden in this world many years ago back to the world that was rightfully theirs.

The moment her divine power was fully activated, Chi Junluo began to rapidly recover the memories engraved upon her godhead.

Everything she had lost was remembered once more. She quickly realized that none of this had happened by chance; the beginning of every event was no coincidence.

She looked down at the lover she had been protecting beneath her. A trace of helplessness flashed in her deep blue beast eyes, and then she activated her divine power.

For the first time, the people of the Cultivation Realm, the Human Realm, and the Demon Realm witnessed such a spectacular sight. A colossal golden pillar of light, tens of thousands of times larger than the ascension pillars they had seen when their ancestors ascended to the Upper Realm, tore open a hole in the sky and descended directly upon the ancient forest of the Southern Xuan Kingdom. The instant the golden pillar landed, all cultivators and ordinary life forms within its range were instantly teleported to various open spaces outside the forest. The teleportation arrays beneath their feet were still slowly turning, and the people discovered with terror that they could neither leave the arrays nor move. They could only watch from afar as the golden nine-tailed divine beast led all the other divine beasts through the passage connecting to the Upper Realm, stepping through the void and disappearing into its depths.

Soon, the light from the ascension passage that had illuminated all three realms faded and vanished. The arrays that had teleported all the living beings reversed, bringing them back to their original locations.

The great powers of the human race searched the ancient forest for days but found nothing. All they knew was that the ascension passage had taken away the divine beasts, the dying demon cultivator, and the guardian elder of the Xianyuan Sect, Immortal Venerable Qingyun.

Clear boundaries now existed between the three realms, preventing them from interfering with one another. The world gradually began to develop in a direction completely different from before.
