Shi Qing looked up at Gu Xinran, who shot up from her chair! Following her survival instinct, she retreated to the doorway. "You… get some rest. I won't disturb you." She turned, opened the door, and slipped away.
Bai Yilan was amused by her cowardly appearance. She had only been laughing for two seconds when the smile froze on her face.
This? That's it? She just ran away? What happened to 'I'll take the heat'??
"You two… were you playing me?" Shi Qing's eyes darkened.
"No no no no no, Mom, really, we didn't, we weren't, weren't playing you, we weren't!" Bai Yilan instantly panicked, even starting to stutter.
