PSW - Chapter 164

Chapter 164

Feng Shuxian hurried to the office building, her mind still a bit dazed. After all, when Zheng Yi had come to Zhongshan to make it rain, she had never claimed to be a god. The propaganda in Zhongshan, while shocking, had focused on her saving people from the heat with rain, not on her combat abilities. Back then, Zheng Yi's explanation to Feng Shuxian was that her ability was rather special, a different kind of "transformation type."

But… it hadn't been that long, had it? Only a few months? When Feng Shuxian saw the two of them waiting quietly downstairs, she had the surreal feeling of having lost all track of time.

"Base Leader Feng." Yu Yinan looked over, nodding slightly in greeting.

"You… hello." Feng Shuxian gathered her thoughts but couldn't resist asking, "How did you get here?" Could they have been nearby Zhongshan just now? What a coincidence.

"Oh, this? I acquired a new teleportation ability. It has many restrictions, but overall, it's quite convenient." Zheng Yi smiled casually, not seeming to think it was anything shocking.

Feng Shuxian fell silent for a moment and ultimately didn't press further, wisely changing the subject. She briefly told Zheng Yi and Yu Yinan the information she'd gotten from Wan Yinyue and Xie Congdong, and also revealed everything she'd found in the rooms of those three. In truth, if she hadn't been worried that a zombie of that level could threaten Humanity's Light, and if the opportunity to learn about the shelter in Pujie hadn't come from Zheng Yi, Feng Shuxian wouldn't have used the mark to bother her. On one hand, she felt Zheng Yi was young, and telling her about such a dangerous matter and getting her involved… Feng Shuxian felt it wasn't right. On the other hand… Zheng Yi had already saved many people in the base with that rainfall, helping them through a crisis. For both emotional and logical reasons, Feng Shuxian was reluctant to disturb Zheng Yi rashly.

After she finished relaying the news about Xia Sheng and saw that Zheng Yi and Yu Yinan didn't have much of a reaction, she paused slightly. "You should pass this information to Humanity's Light first. A mental-type ability user was severely injured and fell unconscious right after probing that zombie. They were on the brink of death and only woke up two days later." Feng Shuxian didn't directly say the zombie was powerful, only mentioning it tactfully, hoping the two young women wouldn't take any risks.

"It's fine." Zheng Yi smiled gently. She looked at Feng Shuxian, suddenly becoming serious, and thanked her, "Thank you for your monthly prayers. They've been a great help to me. This zombie is the one we were looking for anyway. Base Leader, you don't need to worry about it anymore."

"That's your reward for the rain; you deserve it." Feng Shuxian frowned and was about to say more when she saw Zheng Yi wave at her with a brilliant smile.

"We'll be on our way. We can catch up after we've taken care of things. If the Base Leader doesn't mind, you can prepare a simple banquet, and we can talk all night when we get back."

Before she could stop them, Zheng Yi took Yu Yinan's hand, and the two of them vanished before Feng Shuxian's eyes.

"…" Feng Shuxian stared at the empty road. If one use of the mark hadn't truly been expended, she would have suspected she was dreaming.

The mutated zombie, who had been leading Xia Cheng and Xia Sheng out of Zhongshan city as if on a leisurely stroll, suddenly stopped. He sensed a sudden pressure spreading around him and a searching mental power extending through the air. He narrowed his eyes slightly, pulled down his hood, and looked back toward the Zhongshan base with a serious expression.

Xia Cheng and Xia Sheng didn't notice anything different; they only stopped because the zombie had. They exchanged a glance, not understanding what crazy idea had possessed the zombie. But he was looking back at the base—he couldn't have suddenly changed his mind and decided to kill his way back, could he?!

At this thought, Xia Cheng, who normally didn't want to interact with the zombie, took the initiative to ask, "…Xia… Brother Xia Sheng, is something wrong? We have plenty of supplies, and since we're both turning into zombies, we don't crave food that much. There's no need to go back, right?"

Xia Sheng turned to look at her. For a moment, he seemed to drop his disguise. His eyes, which had no whites, looked extremely creepy. He split his mouth into a grin, revealing sharp fangs, and laughed. "It's nothing. But I suddenly feel like watching a performance."

"Right now. Transform," he said. "Prepare a song and dance performance of the Light Pretty Cure ending theme. You, transform into a robot and dance the Light Pretty Cure dance with him."

Xia Sheng and Xia Cheng's eyes widened simultaneously. What the hell was this damn zombie thinking? Making them dance in broad daylight? They hadn't even completely left Zhongshan city yet. What if another ability user passed by and saw them?

"My dear little brother and sister wouldn't refuse their big brother's small request, would they?" Xia Sheng bared his teeth. "Otherwise, the flesh of a half-human, half-zombie might have a unique flavor."

"Or perhaps you'd like to return to that base with me while I get some other supplies?"

And so, on a deserted city street, in an unremarkable open space, a brilliant light erupted. Accompanied by BGM that appeared out of nowhere, Light Pretty Cure and the Poli Guli Robot completed their transformations simultaneously.

Light Pretty Cure gave the robot a heavy look, took a small step forward to find an angle where the robot could see his movements without obstructing Xia Sheng's view, then activated his mental power, switched to the ending theme BGM from deep in his memory, manipulated the shifting light, took a deep breath, and began to sing and dance with a passionate, brilliant smile!

Xia Sheng sat on the ground, looking up slightly at the performance of Light Pretty Cure and the Poli Guli Robot. His gaze was on them, yet it seemed to pass through them, as if trying to see a past that was long lost.

He slowly tapped his head, as if he had forgotten too much, or perhaps remembered too much.

"Really, they're too fast." The ending theme hadn't even finished when the pressure he'd just sensed magnified infinitely. The mental power solidified and approached at an incredible speed. This made him feel a bit emotional. As expected. Just from sensing a faint trace of their aura from afar, he knew he couldn't escape. Even if he fled with all his might and abandoned the two siblings, it would be nearly impossible to shake off someone with such terrifyingly immense mental power.

"Oh my, it seems I've arrived at just the right time." A light breeze blew, and two figures appeared out of thin air on the previously empty street. Zheng Yi gently let go of Yu Yinan's hand, glanced around, and chuckled in a lighthearted voice, "What refined tastes you have."

Yu Yinan stood beside Zheng Yi, frowning as she sized up the man whose face was too pale to be normal. Her gaze quickly locked onto Light Pretty Cure and the Poli Guli Robot, who were performing the final part of their dance.

The robot's dance moves were a bit stiff and always a beat or two behind, but considering it was a robot, this somehow fit its character.

Xia Sheng looked at the two newcomers and found them incredibly familiar. W-weren't they the pair of sisters (lovers) they met back in Hangnu!

He suddenly remembered. Without stopping to wonder how the two had appeared so suddenly and seemed so relaxed, he hurriedly shouted a warning, "Get out of here! He's a mutated zombie, and he's very powerful!"

"Yu Yinan? Zheng Yi!" Xia Cheng had an excellent memory and called out their names with a hint of pleasant surprise. But her voice was accompanied by Xia Sheng's anxious warning, and Xia Cheng's expression changed instantly. Fearing that Zheng Yi and Yu Yinan might hesitate because of them and miss their chance to escape, she yelled, "Get away! He can even subtly turn ability users into zombies without them realizing it!"

"Haha…" Xia Sheng laughed so hard he bent over, his mouth splitting open in an exaggerated grin. After a long moment, his white-less eyes rolled around. "The performance continues. You and I will fight a little farther away from them. You wouldn't want to involve bystanders, would you?"

"The performance can certainly continue, but~ who is it that doesn't want to involve… their little pets?" Zheng Yi's voice was gentle, but her smile held a hint of malice. The next instant, her expression softened again. Her black eyes were as calm as still water, revealing none of the emotions hidden beneath.

In a flash, four waterspouts erupted from the ground, trapping Xia Sheng in the center. Zheng Yi raised a hand and swallowed two Stamina Recovery Pills. With a grasping motion of her fingers, the four terrifying waterspouts raged toward Xia Sheng. Dust and sand flew, and many of the already broken street tiles were swept up.

Zheng Yi casually tossed out two shelter barriers. One landed at Yu Yinan's feet, protecting her completely. The other landed in the center of the street performance, shielding the Xia siblings from the effects so they could continue their show.

"…" Xia Cheng and Xia Sheng were dumbfounded, staring stupidly at the waterspouts that had appeared from nowhere. The frantic suction and instantaneous burst of water vapor told them this wasn't a dream, even as the barrier quickly enveloped and protected them, cutting off the effects.

T-these are the sisters they met before? The one in the sky, that's Zheng Yi, right? The cute, adorable Zheng Yi? Xia Cheng's footing became unsteady, and she almost lost her transformation. Xia Sheng had to grab her to help her steady herself. But when she looked back at him, she saw his expression was no better than hers.

"…She just said the performance continues?" Xia Cheng hesitated for a moment, looking at Xia Sheng as if asking a question. "So, are we supposed to keep… dancing… for this battle?" But neither of them had time to watch! And with a battle of this level, who would want to watch a performance when they could watch the fight itself!

"…Let's dance." Xia Sheng pressed his lips together, took a deep breath, and used his ability to restart the BGM from the beginning. He counted the beat in his head and quickly got back into the zone.

Yu Yinan had been anxiously looking up at Zheng Yi when she heard the BGM start up again from Xia Sheng's direction. She was equally shocked to find that the two siblings could remain calm enough under these circumstances to continue their dance. They were really continuing the performance?!

Well, it seems their mental fortitude has improved significantly during their time living with the mutated zombie.

"You've disturbed the originally severed thread of fate…" Xia Sheng didn't try to break through the four waterspouts. Instead, he suddenly pushed off from the center, soaring into the air to face Zheng Yi from a distance. "The direction of the new trajectory, the future I cannot see—does it lie with you?"

[?] Zero One was stunned for a moment. What does that mean? The severed thread of fate, does that refer to the original novel's abrupt ending? Trajectory, future—is he talking about the development after a successful incubation? How can this zombie say such things? How does he know?

"An apocalypse of less than a year? Hahahaha…" He laughed wildly, raised his hand to toss out some meteor fragment powder, stuffed it into his mouth, and swallowed it directly. "The baton of fate—if you want it, come and take it from my hands!"

The black cloak was thrown high into the air, disintegrating into countless fine pieces of cloth. He opened his mouth wide and forcefully pulled out a bone sword stained with flesh and blood. Brilliant flames surged up its length, inch by inch, burning fiercely.
