PSW - Chapter 151
Chapter 151
Thirty-five cubic meters in one go… To be honest, the administrator felt that this extremely young ability user probably couldn't do it. But even if she only managed half of that in one go, it would still be incredibly strong. And for the strong, it wasn't out of the question to offer a certain discount.
As he was thinking this, his intuition suddenly tightened. An abrupt, trembling power that seemed to come from the depths of his soul appeared. He hadn't even had time to react, only feeling the air around him instantly grow damp. The sky was clear, the horizon a brilliant gold, and in an instant, a water dragon danced into existence.
Beneath the splendid sunlight, a massive water dragon leaped out of thin air. It seemed to dive down from the clouds, wrapped in dazzling golden light under the sun, and lunged forward with a thick aura of moisture, plunging violently into the giant water tank.
The water dragon's body was extremely long, half of it even hidden in the clouds. With its head now plunged into the tank, its massive form flowed continuously into it. It was only then that the administrator, a beat too late, rubbed his eyes hard and even slapped himself, unable to believe what was happening right before him.
Heavens, oh heavens… the water tank… won't it be shattered? Even if this giant tank has a capacity of over a hundred cubic meters, it couldn't possibly hold a real giant dragon! No, no, no, how could there be dragons in this world?
He was completely dumbfounded. This was clearly a form deliberately created by the ability user, and such an act was enough to prove that she was far stronger than he had ever imagined.
An endless stream of water, carried by the dragon, flowed from the sky, from the clouds, as if it were infinite.
"Oops." A light, slightly surprised cry pulled him back to reality. The administrator saw the young ability user effortlessly stop her ability. The water dragon, the stream of water—everything vanished in an instant. It was as if he had just had a short dream.
But this couldn't be a dream.
"I accidentally… went a little over the amount~" Zheng Yi smiled with exceptional cuteness. She looked at the administrator, her hands clasped together. "It's okay if I gave a little extra, right?"
The administrator was stunned, reacting a beat too late. The way he looked at Zheng Yi and Yu Yinan changed instantly. Hearing Zheng Yi's playful words, he pondered for a moment before saying seriously, "We can't refund the excess amount. How about this? Since there are two of you…"
"There are vacant two-bedroom apartments on the second floor of these residential buildings. As compensation, I can upgrade you to a two-bedroom for free. What do you think?" He lowered his gaze slightly, earnestly awaiting Zheng Yi's response.
"Then, thank you?"
"You're welcome. It's my job." He replied politely and led Zheng Yi and Yu Yinan downstairs again. On the way, however, he hesitated slightly before speaking up. "With such a powerful display, I'm afraid other ability users have seen it too. Someone will definitely try to inquire about you. Since I was the first witness, the base leadership might ask me for the details… I will report truthfully. Is that acceptable to you?"
"Ah, of course, that's no problem." Since Zheng Yi had shown her hand, she naturally wasn't afraid of people coming to her. Or rather, she did it precisely so the base leadership would seek her out.
Wait for Chi Heqing to hear the news of her arrival and come find her? That would be far too passive. Besides, it wasn't certain if Chi Heqing even remembered her. The persona Zheng Yi had presented to Chi Heqing back then was very innocent and simple, which would be inconvenient for her future plans. After all, she didn't just want to see Chi Heqing; she also wanted to learn about the Dawn Research Institute and all the information they had on the meteor fragments.
Of course, Zheng Yi could have just displayed her invincible power from the start, crushing all the ability users in the base into submission. However, since the base had shown her a degree of respect and goodwill, Zheng Yi was willing to offer them some patience and goodwill in return.
The administrator took them back to the first floor via the elevator to get the key. After a word with his colleague on duty, he took the key and led Zheng Yi and Yu Yinan to the free two-bedroom apartment. An ordinary ability user would certainly not have received this kind of personal escort service. They would have just been told the building and apartment number, handed the key, and reminded of the return time. But… Zheng Yi was just too strong, so strong that it made him wonder if other water-ability users could ever reach such a level in the future.
He couldn't even imagine what kind of earth-shattering changes would happen to ability users in five or ten years. Could it be that every one of them would be able to conjure dragons out of thin air?
He escorted Zheng Yi and Yu Yinan to the door, led them inside for a look around, and seeing that the two ladies were reasonably satisfied with the place, he took out a registration form, paper, and pen from his pocket. He had them write down their names, room address, and return date, then took the form back. "Well then, I won't disturb you two any longer. By the way, when you return the room, just hand the key to the front desk. We have corresponding records."
"Okay, thank you~"
Zheng Yi watched with a smile as the man left and went down the stairs. Only then did she and Yu Yinan enter the apartment. With a thought, a stream of water appeared out of thin air, vibrating rapidly to quickly clean the dust from every corner of the room.
"This base is very well-developed," Yu Yinan remarked in a low voice after the man had left. "A place like Xuancheng couldn't be considered a well-developed base, and Si Haotian's Yongdu was a living hell. Zhongshan… perhaps because we went during the high-temperature period, they had to make some rather desperate decisions, but they had no other choice. It's a bit like Humanity's Light."
"Yeah." Zheng Yi stretched. After the room was spotless, she placed the shower stall in a corner of the living room, then walked into the master bedroom. She stuffed the existing wooden bed and mattress into her personal space and put down her own portable double bed. "Jiejie, are you sleeping with me, or do you want to rest in the side bedroom?"
"Of course we're sleeping together!" Yu Yinan couldn't be bothered with sentiment and quickly replied. It wasn't the high-temperature period yet! Though even if it were, Yu Yinan wouldn't be willing to sleep separately from Zheng Yi. She quickly glanced into the side bedroom, then closed the door and said thoughtfully, "The side bedroom… I can practice my ability in there during my free time."
Seeing her so nervous, Zheng Yi didn't expose her, just chuckled softly and began taking out the kitchen utensils one by one in the kitchen, arranging them neatly.
With such a big commotion, she wondered when their "guests" would arrive. She opened the store, scanned the dazzling array of product icons in the food section, and easily bought a seedless watermelon of about four pounds. That was the good thing about the store—there were no seasonal worries. No matter when or where you bought food, you always got the best quality. Zheng Yi easily split the watermelon in half, pushed one half to Yu Yinan, and gave her a spoon. "Let's have some fruit and rest for a bit. Someone should be here soon."
It wasn't mealtime, and Zheng Yi wasn't very hungry, so there was no rush to cook.
The watermelon wasn't the sandy-textured kind; it was crisp, sweet, and juicy—absolutely delicious. Zheng Yi used her ability to chill it for a moment, making it even more refreshing to eat.
The two of them sat in the living room, eating the chilled watermelon spoonful by spoonful while idly chatting about their speculations regarding the Changping base. After they finished, Yu Yinan incinerated the rind to ash with a burst of fire and casually tossed it into the trash can.
After doing all this, Yu Yinan hesitated, wondering if they should take the opportunity, before the people from Changping came, to go explore the base with Zheng Yi. There… should be a cafeteria or shops here, right? I wonder if they have a mission hall like Humanity's Light. But from what the man said earlier, they clearly have a plantation area too.
But before she could speak, she heard distinctly heavy footsteps. They clearly weren't trying to hide their approach, or perhaps they were deliberately making noise to let Zheng Yi and the others know they had visitors. The sound continued right up to the door before stopping. It was silent for a few seconds; the people outside seemed to be hesitating or mentally preparing themselves. In any case, after a moment, a polite knock gently sounded.
"Hello, excuse me… is this where Ms. Zheng Yi and Ms. Yu Yinan are temporarily staying?" the person outside asked, their voice now somewhat steady. It was a man's voice.
They're finally here. Yu Yinan glanced at Zheng Yi, then got up and walked to the door. She composed her expression slightly before opening it.
Three people were standing at the door.
One man and two women. One of them was none other than Ms. Chi Heqing.
"I heard you two were looking for Captain Chi Heqing… I am Lou Chen, the base leader of the Changping base, and this is Vice-Base Leader Ling Xunyun." He cupped his hands in a traditional greeting, showing none of the airs of a base leader, and smiled warmly. "We heard the news and came on an impromptu visit out of curiosity. I hope you don't mind the intrusion."
Lou Chen was about thirty years old, with some faint stubble on his chin. He had a slender build but looked very energetic.
Ling Xunyun also looked very young. Her large black eyes were sharp and spirited, though there were faint dark circles beneath them. She had thick eyebrows that angled upwards at the ends, with the arch higher than the start—standard sword-like brows. As she entered, she briefly sized up the two of them for a moment before politely averting her gaze. Her face revealed little emotion, giving her a rather stern and aloof demeanor.
As for Chi Heqing? She was an old acquaintance. She glanced at Zheng Yi and Yu Yinan as she entered and quickly remembered the young woman she had met before. However, Captain Chi was clearly still hesitant. After all… the Zheng Yi in her memory was not quite consistent with the person the base leader described—someone who could control water and summon a dragon on the roof of a residential building.
"Please, come in, all three of you. We just moved in, so we haven't really tidied up," Zheng Yi said, playing the part of a welcoming host. Yu Yinan also stepped aside to let them in. She raised a hand and took out disposable cups, then raised her other hand to conjure a stream of water into them. Yu Yinan returned to Zheng Yi's side and raised her own hand, precisely controlling the temperature to boil the water in the cups without damaging them.
This level of precise control was still a bit difficult for Yu Yinan, but after so much practice, and with the help of the potion she had taken before, she completed the task perfectly without a change in her expression. Unafraid of the heat, she picked up the cups and handed them to each of the three guests.
At this display, Lou Chen and Ling Xunyun exchanged a look, both slightly amazed. After all, they hadn't seen Zheng Yi's water dragon up close; they had only heard the news and, after a moment's thought, decided to come over directly.
As for Chi Heqing… she stared at Zheng Yi, not quite understanding how the two of them could have undergone such a world-altering change in strength in just a few short months.
The room was silent for a moment. Both Lou Chen and Ling Xunyun seemed to want to speak but didn't know how to properly broach the subject. Chi Heqing, meanwhile, was doubting her own memory.
"Chi Jiejie, don't you remember me?" Zheng Yi gave a light smile, her eyes curving as she looked at Chi Heqing. "Last time, you were searching for meteor fragments. I wonder if your trip was successful?"
