DDT - Chapter 154
Chapter 154: Immortal Venerable × Meow Meow Cat (9)
Hundreds of ferocious beasts gathered, surrounding the clearing where Chi Junluo stood until it was packed solid.
Fortunately, the peaks of the Xianyuan Sect were spaced far apart. Otherwise, the gathering of spirit beasts just now would have quickly been discovered by people from other peaks, and Chi Junluo's identity would have been exposed in an instant. If someone discovered a monster-like beast at the foot of Qingyun Peak, she wouldn't even know how she died.
Taking advantage of the intense fluctuations and chaos in the spiritual energy, the Heavenly Dao released its divine sense, blanketing the entire Xianyuan Sect. It then discovered, to its dismay, that spirit beasts from all over the sect's territory were continuously converging on this location.
The abnormal movement of a few spirit beasts might not have attracted attention. But if all the spirit beasts within the Xianyuan Sect's domain were gathering in the same direction, the sect's guardian elders would undoubtedly sense that something was wrong and rush over. By then, the situation would truly be irreversible.
The Heavenly Dao's suggestion was to slaughter every last one of the beasts gathered here before their movements were discovered.
There was no better alternative.
Chi Junluo glanced at the circle of spirit beasts eyeing her covetously, then looked down at her own body, which was incomparably tiny compared to the massive creatures. She felt like the Heavenly Dao was just messing with her. Just looking up at this huge pack of spirit beasts was exhausting, let alone killing them all without leaving a trace.
The massive, gray-and-white ferocious beast at the head of the pack was in no hurry, sitting calmly before the others.
It didn't seem to intend to attack. Perhaps it felt that such a weak little thing wasn't worth its effort. Before Chi Junluo could think of a countermeasure, some of the spirit beasts grew impatient and charged forward.
And so, Chi Junluo was forced into her first battle in this world.
Fortunately, the body of this ancient divine beast, the Nine-Tailed Black Cat, still retained two thousand years of combat experience. Chi Junluo relied entirely on her body's instincts to dodge the spirit beasts' attacks. Seeing the beasts in the distance gearing up to attack, Chi Junluo knew that waiting was not a solution. She hesitated for a brief moment, then, guided by her body's instincts, she weaved through the pouncing spirit beasts.
The small black cat unsheathed her claws and swiftly stabbed at the vital points of the beasts. Many of the red-eyed, frenzied creatures splattered blood on the spot. As Chi Junluo moved more and more skillfully among the spirit beasts, the Heavenly Dao found itself looking at the gray-and-white beast with a growing sense of familiarity. It seemed to have seen such a strangely shaped and colored spirit beast somewhere before.
Perhaps aided by the moonlight, Chi Junluo had wounded most of the first wave of surrounding beasts in less than two minutes. Many of them lay on the ground, wailing, most of them breathing out but not in. The red, crazed eyes of this large group of beasts, which had been drawn here by the powerful spiritual energy fluctuation, had now faded back to their normal color. Some of the beasts that had been farther away saw that the situation had turned sour and immediately took to their heels. It seemed they wouldn't be getting a piece of the so-called spiritual treasure or immortal artifact this time.
It was at this moment that the Heavenly Dao, in the sea of consciousness, remembered where it had seen that gray-and-white spirit beast.
The Heavenly Dao recognized it as a Chaos Beast. The Chaos Beast was a divine beast with spiritual intelligence. It was extremely rare and only appeared in the Upper Realm. Logically, although this world was extraordinary, it was absolutely impossible for it to contain a specialty of the God Realm that was even rarer than a so-called ancient divine beast. The Chaos Beasts controlled the power of space-time rules and were a race that could run rampant even in the God Realm. Moreover, within the Chaos Beast clan in the Upper Realm, some members possessed the godhead of an Upper God. Even in the Upper Realm, no one wanted to provoke a dominant race protected by a godhead. That would be simply suicidal.
The Chaos Beast clan had always been active only in its own territory and always appeared in groups. So what was a lone one doing suddenly appearing in this world?
Back in the Upper Realm, although the Heavenly Dao had been fortunate enough to see the Chaos Beast clan, it had never met the elusive Void God who commanded the power of space-time.
Judging by the size of the Chaos Beast not far away, it was perhaps a young beast from the Upper Realm that had just reached adulthood, only thirty thousand years old. Could it be that the flames of war in the God Realm now dared to burn even the territory of the Void God, whose godhead power was second only to the Main God?
However, the Heavenly Dao considered the Chaos Beast clan's powerful ability to traverse the void, so it didn't rule out the possibility that this little beast had snuck out to play amidst the chaos.
Now, this was a huge problem.
This Chaos Beast's level was Heaven Grade, Upper Stage, Sixth Layer. Chi Junluo's current strength in the body of the ancient divine Nine-Tailed Cat, converted to the God Realm's ranking system, was merely Earth Grade, Lower Stage, Ninth Layer. The difference in rank was too vast; there was no comparison at all. If they really fought, Chi Junluo would be smashed into meat paste in minutes. What was the point of even trying?!
The Heavenly Dao was on the verge of tears.
Chi Junluo couldn't probe the Chaos Beast's level. The Heavenly Dao only told her its identity before falling silent, which meant it was either extremely troublesome or she simply couldn't defeat it. In other words, even if a hundred of the Old Ghost who had refined the original Nine-Tailed Black Cat's soul showed up, they would be no match for the Chaos Beast. This was the difference between the Upper and Lower Realms. A newly adult Chaos Beast from the Upper Realm could casually destroy a lower realm, while the people of a lower realm might cultivate for a lifetime without ever qualifying to ascend.
Seeing that the Chaos Beast was getting bored and had already stood up to slowly walk over, Chi Junluo thought that since she was going to die anyway, she might as well risk it all and fight for a chance.
She recalled what the Heavenly Dao had said before: the Power of the Heavenly Dao could not be used casually. If she really used it, she would probably be kicked out by this world's consciousness before she even confronted the Chaos Beast.
That only left the mysterious power. The Heavenly Dao had been so anxious that it had forgotten about the power within Chi Junluo.
Golden power overflowed from her body, floating in the air around her and enveloping her completely. Perhaps sensing its master's urgency or desire, the golden power erupted with a formidable pressure the moment it appeared. And facing this pressure directly was the Chaos Beast, which had been leisurely strolling toward her just a second ago.
The moment the Chaos Beast saw the golden power appear, its instincts screamed that something was wrong. Before it could investigate what was happening, it was already pinned to the ground by the immense pressure. Its huge face was pressed into the dirt. It took a long while for it to realize what had happened. It had actually been suppressed by an ordinary human from a lower realm!
It could withstand its own clan leader's pressure and still move, but the pressure emanating from this human made it want to do nothing but submit.
That powerful, mysterious force was truly useful. Seeing that the Chaos Beast had stopped moving and struggling, Chi Junluo didn't rashly withdraw the power. Just like what had happened in the previous worlds, a peculiar method for using this energy flashed through her mind. Chi Junluo followed the thought without hesitation. The golden power transformed into several wisps that coiled around the Chaos Beast's head. Finally, the golden power contracted inward, forming a small golden symbol in the middle of the Chaos Beast's forehead, which looked quite similar to the pattern on Chi Junluo's left hand.
The Heavenly Dao watched this incredible scene from the sea of consciousness with wide eyes. It recognized the contract Chi Junluo had just used. It was a contract used by the God race of the Upper Realm to subdue divine beasts. Once a divine beast was bound by this contract, it would be controlled by its origin and truly submit to the master of the contract. If the divine beast ever had the thought of killing its master, it would die on the spot. Once formed, the contract was irreversible. The contracted divine beast could only follow its master for life. Therefore, unless it was absolutely necessary or they were immobilized, divine beasts would never allow themselves to accept this contract.
After the contract was complete, Chi Junluo withdrew the golden energy.
All that remained was the utterly bewildered Chaos Beast, which shakily got to its feet and stood frozen in place.
It incredulously touched the contract symbol on its forehead, then looked at Chi Junluo in disbelief. Its large, light-green eyes instantly filled with tears.
It couldn't believe it. It had been so easily bound by a weak human with a contract that only the gods of the Upper Realm should know.
Just like that, it had lost its freedom!!!
And so, this was the scene that greeted a hastily arriving Yun Qian: in a rare clearing within the dense ancient forest at the foot of Qingyun Peak, hundreds of spirit beasts lay scattered about. His junior sister stood right in the middle, holding that ordinary flying sword. And sitting directly opposite her was a gray-and-white, strangely shaped, unknown spirit beast. The beast had its two front paws pressed against its eyes, and its whole body was shuddering as if it were crying, looking as if it had suffered a great injustice.
Fortunately, the Heavenly Dao hadn't withdrawn its divine sense earlier, so it immediately detected Senior Brother Yun Qian rushing down from his cave residence toward the foot of the mountain. Yun Qian was riding his sword, moving with incredible speed. It would have been impossible for Chi Junluo to revert to her human form and change her clothes in such a short time. Chi Junluo recalled what the Heavenly Dao had told her about the Chaos Beast's ability to control space and time. Thus, she issued her first command after contracting the Chaos Beast: freeze time on Qingyun Peak.
Chi Junluo then shielded the Heavenly Dao in her sea of consciousness, quickly reverted to her human form, threw on her clothes, and had the Chaos Beast release its control. The more the Chaos Beast thought about it, the more wronged it felt. A majestic divine beast from the Upper Realm was actually being used to control time for someone else. So, it turned around and began to sob.
This was the scene Yun Qian arrived to witness.
He didn't notice anything different about Chi Junluo; he was simply terrified by the field of spirit beast corpses.
If all these spirit beast corpses were the work of his junior sister…
Then he had only one thing to say:
This junior sister was simply not human!
Chi: ???
