DDT - Chapter 138

Chapter 138: Interstellar ABO (23)

It was already 9:30 PM, half an hour past the 8:00 meeting time Nim and Yi Wen had set. Yi Shuhan wasn't too worried, though. When they met at a high-end, indulgent place like this, it was unlikely they would just exchange a few words and call it a night.

Yi Shuhan had already gotten a firsthand taste of the top-tier prices at Blue Star Haitian. She figured those two planned to party for a while tonight.

She had heard a thing or two about the ways of the great families on the Alliance Main Star. The arrogant Alphas from those families would often seek out Omegas or Betas who specialized in sexual services for entertainment. However, the Yi Family's code of conduct was extremely strict; Yi children were forbidden from soliciting prostitutes. Yi Shuhan wasn't sure about the more distant branches of the family, but Yi Wen, who had grown up in the main household, had always been impeccable in this regard. In this respect, the family elders likely had no complaints about him. Even though Yi Shuhan now knew Yi Wen's true colors and the fact that he had betrayed the Yi Family, after so many years of companionship—or rather, of being subtly brainwashed by him—she still found it hard to believe that the kind, amiable big brother she knew, the very model of a gentle, kind, and respectable man, would stoop to the same vulgar, despicable acts as the other families.

So, even though she was here tonight to capture the traitor Yi Wen, a trace of protectiveness for him, so faint she could barely detect it herself, still lingered in her heart.

After all, it was difficult to completely shed the influence of more than a decade in just a few short hours.

Chi Junluo, meanwhile, followed silently behind Yi Shuhan. She was still trying to pull herself out of the strangely tense atmosphere of their dinner. The food had been delicious, but a slight chill still lingered on her back.

Because her throat hadn't fully recovered, Yi Shuhan wouldn't let her speak. Since Yi Shuhan needed her own light screen when they were out, she borrowed one from a Blue Star Haitian attendant for Chi Junluo to use for simple communication.

Chi Junluo tapped and swiped on the light screen, listening as the Omega girl in front of her seemed to transform into another person. With a slightly delicate tone, she asked the building's manager about the situation in room SS01 upstairs. An inexplicable wave of irritation washed over Chi Junluo, though she couldn't understand its source.

Yi Shuhan explained that she was a friend of Yi Wen, the guest upstairs, and that today was the thirteenth anniversary of their acquaintance. She had come to give him a surprise.

The manager was the type who treated people according to their status. Seeing how generous and lavish Yi Shuhan had been on her very first visit, the manager said she needed to report this to her supervisor and asked Yi Shuhan to wait for two minutes.

The manager turned and walked around a corner, quickly using her authority to check Yi Shuhan's identity.

Although her words and expression were that of a money-grubber, the guests upstairs were indeed of extraordinary status. Nim, the son of the Derian Family, was not someone to be trifled with. Furthermore, the Derian Family was currently in the ascendant, showing signs of eclipsing the Yi Family to become the new top family in the Alliance. As for Yi Wen, he was just a fair-weather friend who had been hanging out with Nim recently. The manager didn't understand the intricacies of their politics; she just thought Yi Wen had a lot of nerve. His own Yi Family was on the verge of collapse, yet he still had the mind to go out drinking and carousing with the son of their rival.

Soon, the search results appeared on the manager's light screen. When she saw that Yi Shuhan's parents were the head of the Yi Family and his wife, she didn't look any further.

The Yi Family had granted Blue Star Haitian this search privilege solely to ensure their own members could move about the top-tier club unimpeded. But the moment this privilege was used, the person in charge on the Yi Family's end would receive a notification in the background. If the searching party made any unusual moves, the Yi Family could cut off access at any time. If Blue Star Haitian overstepped its bounds, it would be a problem that money alone couldn't solve.

The manager quickly minced her way back to Yi Shuhan's side, her tone and posture even more deferential. Yi Shuhan's identity was legitimate. She could take Yi Shuhan and Chi Junluo upstairs immediately. Yi Shuhan waved her hand, politely declining the kind offers of the manager and the Omega attendants, saying only that she wanted to surprise her family and didn't want any outsiders present.

Hearing this, the manager couldn't press the issue. She proactively handed the upstairs room card to Yi Shuhan, saw the two of them into the elevator, and then bowed and retreated.

Before leaving, the manager's eyes flickered over the cold, indifferent face of Chi Junluo, whose lower half was visible. But she was suddenly struck by a chilling sensation and quickly averted her gaze, hurrying away. The feeling of heart-pounding fear didn't subside until the elevator doors slowly closed behind her. The manager felt as if she had seen that figure somewhere before but couldn't quite recall where. Perhaps it was one of the distinguished guests she had served in the past.

This elevator was different from the internal one the two had taken earlier; it was a scenic elevator. Chi Junluo turned off her light screen and glanced at the view outside the transparent walls. Before she could get a good look, a "ding" sounded and the doors opened. It was only a single floor. Chi Junluo turned her head and followed Yi Shuhan out.

The exterior of room SS01 was even more opulent and extravagant than SS02, the room they had booked downstairs.

The door's soundproofing was excellent. It was completely silent outside, with only the sound of their own breathing. Nim and Yi Wen disliked having a crowd of attendants coming and going, so aside from those whose services were unavoidable, all other attendants for SS01 had been sent downstairs.

Yi Shuhan clutched the room card tightly. Her heart, which had been feigning composure just moments ago, suddenly fell into disarray.

He was, after all, a friend—or "family"—with whom she had spent every day. Now, Yi Shuhan might have to face the truest version of her big brother, Yi Wen.

Yi Shuhan clenched her fists, forcing herself not to dwell on the past. What Yi Wen had done this time was absolutely unforgivable. She couldn't be soft-hearted. She couldn't cling to old feelings.

If Yi Wen had only betrayed her, or only hurt her, then perhaps Yi Shuhan might have chosen to let him go for the sake of their decade-plus of shared memories.

But Yi Wen had hurt someone he shouldn't have and betrayed a family he shouldn't have, causing the family enormous losses and nearly getting Chi Chi killed. Yi Wen was, no matter what, unforgivable!

Standing behind Yi Shuhan, Chi Junluo couldn't see her expression, nor could she sense her conflict and pain. She just instinctively felt the pressure around them drop, as if the Omega girl's mood was plummeting.

A sharp pain pierced Chi Junluo's heart again. She really couldn't figure out if this body had some kind of complex heart condition, the kind that even the advanced technology of this era couldn't detect.

Otherwise, why would her heart ache time and time again?

Chi Junluo, who had never truly been in love with anyone, had no experience with this kind of emotional pain and no way to deal with it. She could only let it hurt for now.

Yi Shuhan raised her right hand and, feeling a bit weak, pressed the room card against the sensor. The door beeped twice as access was granted. With a soft click, the door opened a crack.

Contrary to the brightly lit scene they had expected, the room was pitch black. Yi Shuhan put the card back in her pocket and pushed the door open. Nim and Yi Wen must have closed all the windows on this entire floor and activated the blackout panels. The whole floor was like a sealed chamber. It made sense; if two people were discussing highly confidential matters, they would certainly take every precaution to avoid being exposed before their business was concluded.

The moment Chi Junluo stepped into the massive, dark room, her eyes grew cold, and the pressure around her began to drop.

The two walked into the pitch-black suite, and the door closed automatically behind them with a crisp click.

The last sliver of light vanished.

Yi Shuhan and Chi Junluo heard suppressed panting coming from a corner of the room. Chi Junluo froze. If there had been any light, one would have surely seen the blood drain from her lips, leaving them deathly pale.

Chi Junluo subconsciously bit her lower lip, her right hand clenching into a fist. She could hear her own heartbeat growing louder and faster.

Yi Shuhan was also lost in her own world. She was nervous, and a little scared. At this final moment before the confrontation, she suddenly wanted to turn and run. But her reason triumphed over the fear that lay hidden like a venomous snake in the depths of her heart, always ready to strike. She stood quietly in place, doing her best to conceal her presence. She even quickly mobilized her SS-class mental power to envelop both herself and Chi Chi, preventing them from being discovered. It was only when her mental power touched Chi Junluo's body that Yi Shuhan belatedly realized something was wrong with her Chi Chi.

Yi Shuhan used her mental power to soothe Chi Junluo. Having shared an intimate marking, Chi Junluo's body offered little resistance to Yi Shuhan's mental power. Feeling the cool, faintly fragrant sensation, Chi Junluo managed to regain a sliver of her sanity.

The people in the corner released their mental power. Perhaps because their minds were elsewhere, or perhaps because they simply weren't focused on scanning their surroundings, the two streams of mental power soon withdrew from Yi Shuhan and Chi Junluo's location, failing to detect the intruders.

Then, a voice Yi Shuhan knew all too well echoed in the room. A slightly panting male voice spoke. It was Yi Wen.

"Was that my imagination? I could have sworn I heard a door open."

Another, deeper male voice took a breath. "Nothing abnormal. Dammit, after we're done, I'm going to ask Blue Star Haitian what the hell is going on."

Yi Wen's voice sounded again, devoid of any anger. The words he spoke, however, were like a cold-blooded viper flicking its tongue, poised to strike. "The people at a top-tier club can't even manage a mere Omega attendant. It seems I'll have to help them with some training." He added, "Whichever hand opened the door, I'll break that disobedient Omega's hand. Whichever foot stepped onto this floor first, I'll cripple that foot."

Nim let out a soft chuckle. "Heh."

As if not finished, Yi Wen added, "Omegas should just obediently submit beneath us. All they need to do is moan nicely and keep us happy."

The more Yi Shuhan listened, the colder her heart grew. A flash of deep blue light flickered in Chi Junluo's eyes, and her entire body tensed further.

Each lost in their own world, neither noticed the other's strange reaction.

Suddenly, a loud smack echoed through the quiet, empty space.

It was followed by the soft sobs of a young man.

Yi Wen's voice rang out again. "Useless Omega, what are you crying for? Did I say you could cry? Fucking useless at serving people."

"If there weren't any female Omegas available for service today, do you think I'd want a disgusting male Omega like you? If Shuhan could moan under me like they do, I'd die a happy man!"

Nim chuckled again. "Heh, Yi Shuhan, the young lady of the Yi Family? I've met her once. She's quite appealing."

The moment Chi Junluo heard the name "Shuhan," her muscles tensed violently. Yi Shuhan's mental power was still enveloping her and she felt the change instantly. Before she had time to process what was wrong with her Chi Chi, in the next breath, after hearing Yi Wen's fantasy and Nim's comment, a swirl of deep blue and inky black churned in Chi Junluo's eyes. Without harming Yi Shuhan's mental power, she broke free from its embrace. She moved with such speed and finesse that Yi Shuhan only felt Chi Chi slip out of her mental shield like liquid. Then, she shot toward the dark corner where the voices came from. She was so fast that Yi Shuhan only heard a brief whistle of displaced air before seeing a flash of golden light in the distance, followed by two piercing screams. Yi Shuhan froze for a second before realizing those screams belonged to Nim Derian and Yi Wen.

Immediately after, Yi Shuhan keenly sensed something flying toward her. She quickly dodged to the side. Two heavy thuds sounded as objects hit the floor, followed by the agonized groans of two men.

Yi Shuhan looked into the distance and saw two specks of deep blue light flickering in the darkness. Her heart clenched slightly. Her Chi Chi… did she hear those two shameless Alphas fantasizing about her and lash out in anger?

But before she could feel happy for even a second, she remembered: Chi Chi only remembered her name. The Chi Chi of now didn't even know that she was the Yi Shuhan they were talking about.

Yi Shuhan let out a cold, angry snort, completely forgetting that she was the one who, in a fit of pique, had insisted she was her own love rival.

Chi Junluo stood not far away. At her feet lay three male Omegas, trembling and curled into balls, too scared to move. What little reason Chi Junluo had left thought viciously, It seems that before we came in, these two pieces of shit who were lusting after my heroine were in the heat of battle.

Rage and a shadow darker than ink, buried deep in her heart, slowly crept over Chi Junluo's mind. She clenched her fists and walked step by step toward the two scumbags. The three Omegas cowering on the floor, who had been scared witless, watched as each of Chi Junluo's steps left a footprint burned into the special fire-retardant carpet by something like a pale golden flame. Terrified, they scrambled backward.

Was this the legendary demon wreathed in golden flames?
