DDT - Chapter 136

Chapter 136: Interstellar ABO (21)

Perhaps it was because she had been slumped over for too long and was uncomfortable, or perhaps it was because she had gotten a few hours of sleep and her energy had recovered significantly. Before Chi Junluo could figure out how to move the Omega girl, who had worked hard all day, to the rest area, Yi Shuhan slowly began to stir.

Perhaps her eyes had been pressed against something. Yi Shuhan straightened up and blinked several times before the world before her gradually sharpened from a blur. She had been worried that if she went to wash up and get into bed, she would wake Chi Chi again, and she couldn't bear to do that.

Since it was already daytime, she figured she could just rest slumped over the desk for a while.

When the robot assistant detected movement in the laboratory, it ordered another simple meal that Yi Shuhan often ate. Although Yi Shuhan usually made do with a tube of nutrient solution for the day, the robot assistant, based on knowledge learned from the Star Network, analyzed that its master had brought a guest home. If the master and guest ate together… the master wouldn't have to drink that strange-tasting nutrient solution!

Mecha warriors had shared their opinions on the taste of nutrient solution on the Star Network, and ninety percent of the reviews described it as strange and unpalatable. The robot assistant recorded this conclusion in its database and put it to use today.

The master had not given a direct command, which meant the default plan was not locked in, which meant other plans were viable. After a round of analysis, the robot assistant happily swapped the nutrient solution for a simple meal.

The meal was prepared with great speed. Just as Yi Shuhan was waking up and stretching her body under Chi Junluo's faintly worried gaze, the robot assistant rolled over with a small dining cart.

In addition to the simple meal and a warm drink, there was also a set of toiletries and fresh water. Yi Shuhan was long accustomed to the capabilities of the robots she created, but Chi Junluo watched with fascination as the Omega girl washed up and as the robot assistant pulled over a chair for her from a distance.

Once Yi Shuhan finished, the robot assistant cleared away the water and toiletries, leaving space for the two of them.

Chi Junluo was already adept at handling the packaging for the simple meals, while Yi Shuhan's mind was still a bit adrift. The two sat in silence, eating lunch face to face, until the dormant operating screen beside them lit up, seemingly having received a new message or notification. Only then did Yi Shuhan's wandering thoughts return.

After taking a sip of her hot drink, Yi Shuhan turned and swiped a few times on the screen. The small program she had casually placed in Yi Wen's terminal yesterday had secretly recorded his recent communication and sent it over.

It was a short message Yi Wen had received from Nim. Nim felt that events were progressing too slowly and wanted to meet Yi Wen at the "old place" to discuss things in detail.

Things had been tense recently, so Yi Wen and Nim no longer included addresses in their communications, instead using the phrase "old place." And where else could their old place be but Blue Star Haitian?

According to the terminal usage trajectory monitored by the program, after the message exchange, Yi Wen immediately saved the message record in a home-cooking recipe app and then deleted the original record in a flash.

The time was set for 8 p.m. There were still a few hours until their appointed time. She could finish lunch, rest for a bit, and then head over early to wait.

The simple meal was quick and easy to eat, and soon, both of them had filled their stomachs.

She led the still-recovering Chi Chi out of the laboratory and they strolled a few laps around the garden outside.

There were some fruit trees in the garden. Some of the fruit juice in Yi Shuhan's cold storage was made from fruit picked from these very trees.

Most of the fruits were ones Chi Junluo had never seen before. After a full circle, only the fruits on two of the trees bore some resemblance to the apples in her memory, though they were five or six times larger.

Seeing Chi Junluo's curiosity, Yi Shuhan gave a simple introduction to some of the fruit-bearing trees, all of which had strange and unusual names. She had transplanted these trees one by one as small saplings over a decade ago. More than ten years had passed, and she hadn't realized she had planted so many.

These trees came from different planets and different latitudes. Yi Shuhan had categorized them and planted them in different types of soil. It didn't take much effort; she would come for a stroll in her spare time, but most of the time, the agricultural robots in the yard were responsible for their care.

Chi Junluo's current behavior was just like when Yi Shuhan first brought her to the institute—full of curiosity about everything. However, after a couple more laps, that sense of novelty quickly faded.

Seeing that Chi Chi was no longer focused on the bizarrely shaped trees and fruits, Yi Shuhan felt as if she had returned to the past.

Chi Chi was still the same Chi Chi. Even without her memories, her mannerisms and her quickly fading curiosity were just as they had always been.

Noticing that Chi Chi had completely lost interest in these new things she couldn't remember, Yi Shuhan led her back to the laboratory and used the equipment there to give her a check-up.

As the young lady of a top-tier family on the Main Star, the equipment in her research institute was the most advanced in the Alliance. A complete set of tests didn't take much time. When the report came out, even Yi Shuhan was a little surprised. In the previous tests, Chi Chi's mental power had already recovered significantly. It was hard to imagine that after her brain had suffered such intense trauma, with important functional areas so severely damaged, Chi Chi's brain could still repair itself and recover so quickly. Even since the evolution of humanity in the Alliance began, such a thing had never happened before. In 99% of cases, brain damage was irreversible.

Seeing that Chi Chi's mental power had recovered to a quasi-S-class level, Yi Shuhan felt much better. At this rate of recovery, it wouldn't be long before she might return to her original level.

After removing the mask, Chi Chi sat obediently on the testing instrument. Yi Shuhan had been preoccupied with too many things these past two days and only now noticed that the scars on Chi Chi's face had partially faded.

She walked closer, bent down, and carefully examined Chi Junluo's face. The faded scars seemed to have vanished into thin air. The skin that had been covered by dark, menacing scars now looked as flawless as ever, as smooth and delicate as before. There wasn't even the fresh, pink, tender flesh that people usually developed as wounds healed. Yi Shuhan quickly connected this to the mysterious, unknown power within Chi Chi. Perhaps Chi Chi's body was beginning to heal itself because of that power.

Chi Junluo sat rigidly on the instrument. The Omega girl in front of her bent down, getting closer and closer. Her warm breath gently washed over her, carrying a faint, familiar sweet scent. Her mind inexplicably recalled that night a few days ago, and Chi Junluo felt her heart suddenly pound a couple of times, faster and more flustered.

Perhaps it was truly because her mental power was gradually recovering, but she could clearly sense the Omega girl's gaze moving across her face, examining it closely.

Yi Shuhan belatedly sensed the feeling of restraint coming from Chi Chi and realized she had closed the distance between them too much.

She knew Chi Chi was subconsciously restraining herself. As a young couple who had just completed their marking, they should have been in their most affectionate phase. Yet, because her Chi Chi had lost her memories, she was not very close to her. She clearly remembered her own name, but she couldn't recognize the living, breathing person standing right in front of her. She could clearly sense that Chi Chi's heart was moved by her proximity, but Chi Chi's instinctive caution and vigilance made her heart ache.

Given how deeply Chi Chi remembered her name, the name "Yi Shuhan" must hold immense weight in her heart. If she just told Chi Chi that she was Yi Shuhan, would she then be able to enjoy the feeling of being held in the palm of Chi Chi's hand, as someone so important to her?

Yi Shuhan gazed into Chi Chi's eyes, but the words caught in her throat, unable to come out.

A strange feeling of defiance welled up in her heart. She refused to believe it. Couldn't she make Chi Chi fall in love with her again?

Yi Shuhan, who was extremely confident in all aspects of herself, swallowed the explanation on the tip of her tongue, her eyes twinkling with a hint of anticipation and excitement.

Seeing Yi Shuhan's "predatory" gaze, Chi Junluo leaned back slightly. The Omega girl was acting really strange today.

After her mental pep talk, Yi Shuhan returned to the testing instrument's display screen. Looking at the recovering levels of mental power and physical constitution, she decided not to interfere with Chi Chi's body's automatic repair for the time being. She wanted to see how much Chi Chi could recover in a short period.

She briefly explained the situation with her body to Chi Chi, and Chi Junluo also realized that it was likely due to the so-called energy that belonged to her inside her body.

Thinking back to when they left Moon Star, Chi Chi had used such a powerful force that was difficult to explain with science. Perhaps if she let Chi Chi use that power more often, her body would recover even faster?

Originally, Yi Shuhan had planned to deploy people from her family to make the arrest tonight. Since Chi Chi's body was recovering well, why not let Chi Chi go with her? It would save her the trouble of deploying personnel and avoid the risk of information leaks.

It would be a good chance for Chi Chi to get some exercise. She could also see the sights of the Main Star for herself. Chi Chi hadn't been eating particularly well lately; her lab only had nutrient solutions and simple meals. This was a crucial time for her recovery, so she needed proper nourishment. The food at Blue Star Haitian had rave reviews on the Star Network, and she herself had almost never tried these so-called high-end delicacies. It wouldn't hurt to see how they tasted.

Yi Shuhan vaguely remembered browsing the Star Network before and hearing many Alphas in forums discussing candlelight dinners as a must-have for romantic dates. Since they were going to a top-tier club to catch someone tonight, she could also give a candlelight dinner a try with Chi Chi and see what was so special about it to be recommended by so many people.

Thus, Yi Shuhan quickly made a decision. After getting Chi Junluo's consent, she immediately went to prepare to go out.

In the past, most of the time she and Chi Chi spent together was in her research institute. She would modify Chi Chi's mecha, and Chi Chi would sit quietly beside her, watching and keeping her company, never finding it dull. Back then, she didn't understand her feelings for Chi Chi. Now that Chi Chi was hers, it was only natural to take her to do some of the things that couples on the Star Network did.

Returning to the rest area, she picked up her light screen and did a quick search for "things to do with the person you like." Since time was limited today, she could only choose one short activity to deepen the bond between her and her Chi Chi for now.

Once she captured the traitor who betrayed the Yi Family and exposed the conspiracy and truth behind it all, and after dealing with all the people who had been scheming in the shadows to frame Chi Chi and the Yi Family, she would have more undisturbed time to do the things she liked with Chi Chi.

Just thinking about it made the aura around Yi Shuhan soften.

From the bottom of her heart, she wanted to be with Chi Chi forever and ever.

Their preparations to leave were complete. Chi Junluo put on her silver-white mask, her medium-length hair smoothed back. The black-and-white casual outfit she wore took on the air of formal wear on her. Just by standing there ramrod straight, she exuded a powerful aura that was slightly intimidating.

Yi Shuhan looked with satisfaction at the Alpha Chi Chi, who radiated a "keep your distance" vibe. As expected of the person she liked, perfect from every angle.

Then she suddenly remembered something. "Chi Chi was so good today, you remembered to put on clothes after getting up."

Seeing Chi Chi's somewhat stiff smile, she thought for a moment about what her father used to say when she was little and mimicked his praise, "Not bad, very well done. Keep it up!"

Chi Junluo felt that the Omega girl in front of her was seriously underestimating her intelligence. Did she seem like someone who lacked such basic common sense? It had been days already; she thought that incident had long been put behind them.

Since she still couldn't speak and had nothing to communicate with at hand, Chi Junluo could only nod obediently, hoping she would quickly forget that embarrassing episode.

Yi Shuhan had her own vehicle parked at the research institute, which was clearly much more advanced than the taxi Chi Junluo had ridden on Moon Star.

Although it was only a two-seater, the interior was more spacious. Yi Shuhan opened the door for Chi Junluo, then walked around to the driver's seat.

Chi Junluo got in, and the safety system automatically fastened the seatbelt around her. Yi Shuhan skillfully started the vehicle, which slowly ascended and flew out of her personal research institute.

It was Chi Junluo's first time sitting in the passenger seat of this kind of flying car, and the view before her was incredibly open.

She didn't know how big the Main Star was, but since it served as the central planet, the heart of human life, it must be huge.

Because she had arrived directly inside the research institute via a space jump, this was the first time Chi Junluo was actually seeing the outside world.

The sky on the Main Star had a strange kind of beauty. It was a translucent blue, with a light source in the sky that was bright like the sun but not glaring.

The car flew high, and large patches of vegetation could be seen on the ground below. The foliage was predominantly blue-green, which was very pleasing to the eye.

Yi Shuhan slowed the car down and lowered the sunshade on the roof as well as the side windows.

Chi Junluo's most direct impression was that the air quality was truly excellent.

Compared to the murky air on Moon Star, it was like heaven and earth.

Yi Shuhan's personal research institute was located in a forest on the eastern side of the main Yi Family estate. It would still take some time to fly to the main urban area; the Yi estate was just that large.

Seeing that the wind was light, Yi Shuhan picked up the speed a little. There wasn't much to see in the Yi Family's vegetation, but the various buildings in the main urban area were unlike anything on Moon Star. Perhaps her Chi Chi would be interested?

As they flew towards a long, dark gray structure that resembled a city wall, Chi Junluo noticed a faint blue light screen, barely visible to the naked eye, extending from the top of the structure up into the sky, reaching a height she couldn't discern.

The Omega girl beside her tapped the control screen. The sunshade and windows closed automatically, and a transparent, light blue film enveloped the car. The flying vehicle then smoothly passed through the light blue screen that shot up into the sky, leaving the main Yi Family estate.

Chi Junluo tilted her head slightly and saw the translucent blue film on the car fade away, while the sunshade and windows opened again.

Chi Junluo turned her head to look back. Some vehicles were parked below the gray structure in the distance, several dozen of them, large and small. There were also some people gathered around, though she couldn't tell what they were doing.

Yi Shuhan explained simply that they had just flown out of the main Yi Family estate. The people outside were all unscrupulous media members, bored out of their minds, squatting there trying to dig up some news.

Chi Junluo didn't pay attention to the latter half of the sentence; her attention was completely captured by the words "main Yi Family estate."

This meant that the Omega girl had such a large research lab within the main family's territory. It seemed her status in the Yi Family was not low. She must be considered an elite talent of the family, right? Perhaps she was highly favored by the main family?

Chi Junluo thought again of the heroine, whose whereabouts were unknown, and sighed faintly in her heart.

Soon, Yi Shuhan piloted the flying car into the main urban area.

The outskirts of the city consisted of relatively short buildings of a similar color scheme. Each building was separated by an equal, not-too-close, not-too-far distance, and their shapes resembled the small villas Chi Junluo had seen before.

The streets were paved with dark-colored bricks. The outskirts were relatively quiet, with not many people on the roads, though there were a few pairs and trios out for a walk.

The greening in the urban area was done very well, creating a very comfortable sight.

Further in, the buildings gradually grew taller. Their designs were unique but not bizarre or ugly, and their appearances were very aesthetically pleasing. Chi Junluo just couldn't figure out how some of the buildings that looked unstable managed to remain standing.

The deeper they went into the city, the more flying cars there were in the air. They had different logos and colors, zipping through the sky at high speeds without ever colliding.

Along the way, they passed through a particularly bustling area. The streets were crowded with pedestrians, and many shops were open along the roadside, which was not much different from the streets in other worlds.

Yi Shuhan gradually increased her speed and closed all the windows. The scenery outside flew by rapidly. Having seen enough of the view, Chi Junluo started to idly fiddle with the ornaments on the passenger side.

After about half an hour, the car slowed down and finally stopped in front of a "splendid and magnificent" building complex that nearly blinded Chi Junluo. After getting out of the car, she looked up and saw four large, eye-searingly blue characters: "Blue Star Haitian." In the bottom right corner were two smaller characters: "Mass-Market."

When Yi Shuhan had researched Blue Star Haitian before, she had read its introduction. There was a special note at the end explaining that after rigorous archaeological research by the founder, it was discovered that during the Blue Star era, people liked to add the words "Mass-Market" to clubs of a similar nature. Blue Star Haitian had carried on this tradition to this day, as it was said that adding these two words gave it a quaint, antique flavor.

The attendants at the entrance of the building complex were very perceptive. One look at the car Yi Shuhan was driving told them she was either rich or noble. Two attendants immediately came forward, eagerly opening the doors for them, and then carefully drove Yi Shuhan's car away to be parked.

Another attendant gave a slight bow and led the two of them into the complex.

After passing through a quiet, tree-lined avenue, they arrived at the main hall, where a beautiful Omega was handling related procedures at the front desk.

The attendant led Yi Shuhan and her companion to the Omega and then quietly withdrew.

Since Yi Shuhan had never been to a place like Blue Star Haitian before, she needed to pay a membership fee and provide her ID.

While checking the ID information, the Omega's eyes widened slightly when she saw the names in Yi Shuhan's parent section. The somewhat cold-looking Omega in front of her was actually the only daughter of the main branch of the top-tier Yi Family!

But surprise was surprise. The receptionist Omega's excellent professionalism allowed him to quickly conceal his emotions. He naturally proceeded to issue the big shot in front of him the highest-level access card for Blue Star Haitian, a purple-gold card. The number of people on the entire Main Star who owned such a card could be counted on two hands. After all, they were a top-tier family. Even if they were in trouble now, the receptionist Omega didn't think the Yi Family would fall from grace anytime soon. After respectfully completing the procedures, the Omega let them choose their room. Yi Shuhan glanced at the room booking screen. The SS-level rooms were the highest grade at Blue Star Haitian. SS01 was already booked, obviously by Yi Wen and Nim.

Without hesitation, Yi Shuhan chose the still-vacant SS02. The two numbers were adjacent, so they should be next to each other.

The receptionist Omega didn't ask for Chi Junluo's ID for registration. If the young lady of the main Yi Family wanted to bring someone in, she could do as she pleased. It was best not to interfere with their plans. The Omega didn't spare the Alpha Chi Junluo a second glance, for fear of displeasing the new distinguished guest.

The SS-level private rooms were located deep within Blue Star Haitian. Another attendant drove a shuttle to take the two of them to the core of the complex.

It was a massive building. They were called private rooms, but in reality, each was an entire floor.

The SS-level rooms were designated by floor. The huge building had a total of seven floors: the first floor was the lobby, the second was the restaurant, and the floors above were the private rooms.

SS01 was on the top floor, and 02 was on the floor below.

The time was just right. Upon arriving at SS02, Yi Shuhan gave some instructions to the attendants, then pulled Chi Junluo to sit down on the massive sofa in the main hall.

Soon, attendants filed in, carrying trays of snacks and desserts, followed by finely crafted wine. Chi Junluo was completely bewildered. Then, she heard the faint sound of mechanical whirring as all the window shades on the entire floor closed completely.

The entire SS02 was plunged into darkness. A few small, warm yellow lights then lit up, perfectly illuminating the snacks and wine on the table in front of the sofa. Immediately after, a light screen lit up in the center of the main hall. A picture with a distinct sense of age appeared on the screen. The color tone was somewhat dark. After a few images flashed by quickly, a huge title appeared in the center of the screen: "The Glorious History of Blue Star."

A heavy, rugged background music began to play, and the four-and-a-half-hour-long documentary from over six hundred years ago began.

Yi Shuhan shifted a little closer to Chi Junluo. Seeing no reaction from Chi Chi, she moved a little closer again. In her mind, she secretly put a big checkmark next to "Plan One: Watch a movie of great significance with the person you like."
