VBNWDW - Chapter 67
Chapter 67
Since it was compensation, it naturally had to be something a dragon liked most.
Her Majesty the Queen led the dragon by the hand, winding out of the alley and leaving the darkness behind to step into the crowded street.
Filled with anticipation, the dragon followed obediently, even ceasing the little fidgety movements she had been making before. Her gilded eyes were full of expectation.
The lights from both sides of the street fell upon them. Occasionally, someone would glance over unintentionally, only to be struck by a moment of stunning beauty. When they tried to look closer, the figures were gone, leaving them to wonder if they had just seen a god.
But Metis never looked back, not until she brought Yueqing to a stop in front of the grilled fish stall from before.
The black dragon froze, looking at Metis in confusion.
Metis’s eyes softened, a brief glint of light flashing in her pale gray-blue irises. Then, as if presenting a prize, she said, “Here, your compensation.”
“Didn’t you want to eat grilled fish? You can have it now.”
The grilled fish stall was still bustling with noise, and all the seats behind it were full. Customers who hadn’t gotten their food yet turned to look at those who were eating, swallowing involuntarily as their anticipation grew.
The stall owner was a burly man. As he lifted the iron plate, the muscles in his bent arm bulged like a large stone.
Half a fish tail, drizzled with wine, was grilled to a fragrant crisp, sending up an enticing white smoke from the hot plate.
Yueqing was stunned for a moment before she belatedly realized what this person’s reward was.
The food that had seemed so desirable just moments ago now tasted bland and uninteresting.
Her smile vanished, her face darkened, and she stared intently at Metis.
Her Majesty the Queen looked back at her with great innocence, even tilting her head in feigned confusion.
It made the dragon’s fangs itch with irritation. She bit out each word: “Metis.”
“Hm?” The person who was called answered naturally, then seemed to think for a moment before adding, “You don’t like this? Then let’s change it…”
“Gems? Or gold coins?”
“I don’t want any of them!” The dragon’s temper was already bad, and now it was even worse.
Metis deliberately pretended to soothe her, saying, “What’s wrong? Weren’t you fine just a moment ago?”
Her pale gray-blue eyes were as clear and pure as ever, but the wicked dragon could clearly see a hint of amusement in them. She was doing this on purpose!
People came and went around them, none noticing the argument brewing between the woman and the dragon.
Metis was about to try and placate her again, having just uttered, “What…”
The space around them suddenly distorted. Her Majesty the Queen’s vision blurred, and in the next instant, she was thrown heavily onto a soft bed, which creaked under the sudden weight.
Metis had just registered what happened when she was pinned down. The person on top of her spoke fiercely, “You did that on purpose!”
“You deliberately toyed with this dragon!”
Cascading silver hair brushed against her cheek, creating a ticklish sensation. Annoyed, Metis turned her head to avoid it and finally recognized the familiar patterns on the large bed. It seemed she had truly angered a certain dragon, who had decided to cut their outing short and teleport them straight back to their room.
The black dragon saw this small movement of her head, and the anger in her heart flared even hotter. She said furiously, “Metis, you’ve gotten far too bold!”
Her gilded eyes reflected the other’s face. The great dragon had previously praised this person for being like a sponge, growing at an almost frantic rate after absorbing water. And now, that growth was being used against her.
The little queen who once panicked just standing on the great dragon’s back could now tease and play tricks on her.
The system in the back of her mind let out a huff, as if mocking Yueqing for not listening to its advice.
The more the black dragon thought about it, the angrier she became. Her dark eyes scanned down, and she lowered her voice to utter, “Metis, you are going to be punished.”
But Her Majesty the Queen beneath her had yet to sense the approaching danger. She was even in the mood to continue her game. With a flip and a lift of her hand, a multifaceted, sparkling gem appeared in her palm.
She smiled sweetly at Yueqing and said, “Alright, alright, I know I was wrong. How about I give you this?”
It was that same tone one used to coax a child.
The black dragon lowered her eyes, waiting to see what other tricks she had up her sleeve.
As a result, Metis produced another gem.
The black dragon watched with a cold expression.
Then came another gem.
All of them were extremely rare and expensive varieties that would fetch a sky-high price on the market. If not for the Roy royal family’s tradition of acquiring large quantities of gems, it would have been difficult to collect them all in one place.
Normally, the black dragon would have already been hugging the gems, rolling around on the bed, and performing acrobatics like kicking the gems and doing mid-air flips.
But now, Yueqing remained stone-faced and angry, her arms braced on either side of Metis. The collar of her dress slipped down, revealing a large expanse of skin.
“Then… gold coins?” Metis’s gaze unconsciously shifted to the side, revealing a hint of guilt.
Earlier, she had seen a certain dragon get angry because Mo Wen was following them, secretly targeting the knight several times. Metis had found it amusing, and her mischievous side had gotten the better of her. Only now did a sliver of fear emerge.
The black dragon was sharp and naturally didn’t miss Metis’s fleeting emotion, but she wasn’t about to let her off so easily.
With a cold snort, she twisted space for an instant. A rain of gems and gold coins fell, clattering onto the soft bed.
A spatial dragon was far more convenient than a human. She didn’t need any external spatial tools for storage; she could simply open up her own little world, filled with all her precious treasures.
The gems that fell were all of the most precious types, and even the gold coins were polished to a brilliant shine.
Metis even spotted a few gold coins from the era of the ancient empires, now considered collectible antiques.
Was this gesture meant to tell her that the dragon didn't lack for gems?
But Metis already knew the dragon had a large collection. After all, they were a race that loved shiny things, seeking out gold and gems from the moment they were born. It was only natural for their hoard to be vast.
And even if they possessed a mountain of wealth, they would still enthusiastically accept more gold and gems, distributing their love equally among every piece in their collection.
To put it nicely, they were magnanimous. To put it bluntly, they were greedy.
But Metis enjoyed buying gems for the black dragon; she loved seeing her look of utter satisfaction.
Oh, right. Except for just now. Just now was for teasing the dragon.
Metis couldn’t help but let her mind wander, forgetting that the dragon pinning her down was still angry. The small flame of fury that had just begun to die down instantly flared up again.
“Metis!”
After a long delay, Metis finally let out a questioning hum.
A great fire had just lit a barrel of gasoline. If Yueqing were still in her dragon form, Metis would surely have seen rows of scales standing on end—a sign of extreme anger in beasts.
Metis finally came to her senses. She belatedly tried to embrace the other, but Yueqing restrained both her wrists with one hand, forcefully pressing them down in front of her.
Her other hand gripped Metis’s waist, forcing it to arch upwards.
The silver-haired woman leaned down, sealing the words that were about to escape her lips.
The window beside them had not yet been closed and was blown by the wind, banging against the wall again and again. The crescent moon vanished behind the clouds, leaving only a faint glimmer of light.
Red marks appeared on her restrained wrists, exceptionally stark against her overly fair skin.
The woman pinned beneath tasted suffocation. She unconsciously bent her legs and struggled, but she was held down even tighter, forcing her to press closer to the culprit.
Their combined weight made the bed sink into a deep depression. The piled-up gold and gems slid down, clinking crisply as they collided.
Her golden hair had come loose at some point, spilling across the coins and gems. The reflected light made Metis’s skin appear even more luminous and white. Her pale gray-blue eyes shone with a brilliance that rivaled the treasures, especially after they were coated with a layer of mist and the corners of her eyes were tinged with a vibrant red.
Clear, pure, and with a touch of fragile pity.
The one who had been smiling and teasing just moments ago was finally getting a taste of her own medicine.
Yueqing deliberately gave her no chance to breathe, intentionally blocking everything. Her bitten lips were slightly swollen, marked with faint teeth imprints. A bead of crystalline moisture slid from the corner of her mouth, adding a touch of sensuality to the scene.
One must not forget: wicked, tyrannical, and greedy were all adjectives embedded in a dragon’s nature.
Since Her Majesty the Queen was unwilling to pay the proper price, she would collect the principal, interest, and compensation from Metis all at once.
The hand on her waist moved upward, slipping inside the torn collar. A red mark had appeared on her straight collarbone at some point, but no one paid it any mind.
The knee pinning her leg slid down, pressing upward unintentionally.
A muffled grunt escaped her sealed lips, and Metis trembled all over.
Only then did the little queen know fear. She shook her head frantically, signaling that she was wrong.
But how could the wicked dragon let her go so easily? Not only did the bent leg not move away, but it even began to move in deliberate circles.
The gold coins clattered, imprinting a chaotic pattern on her delicate skin.
A breeze rustled the fallen leaves. In the ignored alley, a cry of pain rang out.
Caius sat up, clutching the back of his head. He looked around, his expression shifting from confusion to anger as he kicked the person next to him.
“Leif!”
The other man had just regained consciousness, only to clutch his head and groan the next second.
“What happened? Weren’t we following Ivo to teach her a lesson?”
“I don’t know! Didn’t you just shout to attack? I was knocked out before I could even finish my incantation!”
“Me too,” Caius said through gritted teeth. He guessed, “Could someone be protecting that bastard daughter?”
“The Iliana Family?”
“How is that possible? Don’t they not care about that bitch at all?”
Caius frowned, also finding it unlikely.
The various families had infiltrated and understood one another. Ivo was nothing but a nuisance to be pushed around in her family. Why would anyone help her?
He asked, puzzled, “Then who was it?”
They pondered for a long time but couldn’t find an answer. They could only sit and rest for a while before getting up to search for clues. Finally, they found a faint scorch mark in an inconspicuous spot on the wall.
The two looked at each other and said in unison, “Nestor!”
“He was unhappy with the results of today’s match and secretly holds a grudge against Young Master Orion.”
“But he doesn’t have the ability to retaliate against Young Master Orion, so when he saw that we were close to him, he decided to follow us.”
The two of them pieced together their version of the truth, completely ignoring the grilled fish that had fallen to the ground nearby. An exhausted Ivo would have been in no condition to fight them. She had only managed to escape by a stroke of luck because Nestor had attacked them.
Hatred flashed across their faces. “Let’s go! We’ll find Young Master Orion,” they said immediately.
As time passed, the lively market gradually grew quiet. The air still held a mixture of lingering smells, but only the stall owners remained, cleaning up their tables and chairs.
The palace remained solemn and silent, with only the occasional patrol of armored soldiers passing by.
A cool breeze blew against the window, slamming it hard against the wall.
Metis shivered. Her wrists, no longer bound, lacked the strength to resist. She could only weakly clutch at the other’s clothes.
The pearl earring from her hair had fallen somewhere, leaving only an earlobe that was red enough to bleed.
Tears dripped one by one from her half-closed eyes. She pleaded in a low voice, “Lord Yueqing, I was wrong, I was wro—”
But the person on top of her was merciless, saying only, “Your Majesty, you’ve wet my gold coins.”
“They are all treasures I have collected for many years.”
The punishment for her previous transgression wasn’t even over, and now another crime was added to the list.
Metis wanted to shake her head and argue, but then she saw the expression of the person above her.
A charming and gorgeous face was hidden in the dimness, a playful smile on her lips. When her gilded eyes looked down from above, they always seemed arrogant and disdainful.
In a daze, Metis felt like prey that had willingly walked into a dragon’s maw, able to do nothing but tremble.
The knee pressing up against her was no longer clumsy. It no longer just applied pressure but moved lightly and then heavily, occasionally tracing a circle before pressing down hard, causing Her Majesty the Queen to arch her body, trying to escape, but there was nowhere to hide.
It was another deliberate act of torment. Metis’s breath hitched, and she suddenly threw her head back. The gold coins on the bed became even more drenched.
A tearful plea rang out, “Lord Yueqing…”
Unfortunately, she was cut off before she could finish. The dragon responded with a light chuckle, “Your Majesty the Queen.”
Her bent leg fell again. Metis tried to retreat inward, only to be dragged back by her ankle.
Those who do wrong should be punished. This was a universal law among all races.
The evening wind continued to blow without cease. The distant horizon was shrouded in black mist, and only the sound of rippling water could be heard…
