Against the Light - Chapter 69
Chapter 69: After Drinking
"Uh, Sister Lan, are you sure you don't need my help?" Jin Shuang asked, looking at the drunkard clinging to Bai Yilan like an octopus.
This was a real handful…
"It's fine, you can go. Hey, don't go spreading this around. Help her maintain her image, at least." Bai Yilan glanced down at the person in her arms and sighed.
This woman wouldn't even behave in the car. Both arms were wrapped around Bai Yilan's neck, her face buried in the crook of her neck, nuzzling her nonstop.
Bai Yilan helplessly patted her on the back. "Alright, alright, we're going home," she said softly.
"Can you drive like this? Why don't I take you home?" Jin Shuang was very worried. "Or I could help you… tie her up??" The woman was clinging to her so tightly, there was no way she could drive. She didn't want anything to happen.
"It's fine, I can handle it. You go on. Send Teacher Yu home when the party's over."
"Ah, got it. Well, give me a call when you get home, otherwise I'll worry."
"Okay."
After sending Jin Shuang off, Bai Yilan closed the car door.
The car was exceptionally quiet, with only the sound of Xinran's slightly heavy breathing.
Bai Yilan clenched her left hand into a fist and took a deep, quiet breath. She placed her right hand on Xinran's back. "Xinran?" she called a couple of times.
Gu Xinran let out a soft hum and shifted her head, pressing it against the hollow of Bai Yilan's neck.
A strange light flashed in Bai Yilan's clear eyes, and a flicker of heat stirred in her heart. She pinched her own fingers, forcing herself to stay calm.
"Be good, okay?" Bai Yilan tried to get her to lean back against the seat, but the woman seemed boneless, determined to stick to her.
Bai Yilan was at her wit's end. She knew that this life's Xinran couldn't hold her liquor—she'd be out after one drink. And when she was drunk, she became incredibly clingy, grabbing onto whoever was closest. Back at the cast party, if Bai Yilan had looked away for even a second, this woman would probably have stuck to some lucky person like glue.
On that note, she really had no right to criticize Xinran, because in her past life, she had been the exact same lightweight. Every time she went to a party with friends, one drink was all it took. The next thing she knew, she'd be waking up in her own bed.
Bai Yilan looked around. Fortunately, this road in the film base didn't usually have much traffic. She started the car and drove slowly.
Thankfully, Xinran was sleeping soundly and wasn't thrashing around or making a fuss.
Halfway there, she carefully managed to get Xinran to lean back in her seat and fastened her seatbelt. But as she went to sit back, the woman grabbed her arm.
Torn between laughter and tears, Bai Yilan had no choice but to let her cling to her right arm.
Forty minutes later, the car slowly came to a stop in the underground garage. Bai Yilan let out a breath, realizing she was covered in sweat!
She turned her head to look. The woman was still sleeping soundly, clutching her arm.
She used a bit of force to pull her arm free. The moment Gu Xinran's expression shifted, Bai Yilan stuffed her own coat into her arms, then immediately opened the door, got out, and walked around to the passenger side. She opened the door and draped Gu Xinran's arm over her own neck. "Xinran? Wake up, we're home."
Fortunately, Gu Xinran was always mindful of her figure and wasn't very heavy. Although it was a bit of a strain for Bai Yilan to carry her, it was still manageable.
The elevator opened directly into the apartment. The moment she pushed the door open, Bai Yilan felt a wave of relief. She placed the person on the sofa, then collapsed onto the floor to catch her breath. Beads of sweat trickled from her temples down into her collar. She wiped them away with her hand and undid two buttons. Just as she was about to get up and head to the bathroom for a shower, she froze.
She looked back at the person sleeping soundly on the sofa.
She… had been sweating all day during filming, even her T-shirt underneath was soaked. Shouldn't she also take a bath??
Hiss, but the woman was already asleep. Waking her up for a bath didn't seem right, did it?
Besides, it seemed impossible to wake her up anyway!
Bai Yilan had intended to just leave her be, but the image of how drenched in sweat she was after taking off her costume today came back to her mind.
Tsk…
After wrestling with herself for a moment, Bai Yilan went into the bathroom.
A short while later, the bath was drawn. She tested the temperature and, feeling it was about right, returned to the living room. She stood by the sofa with her hands on her hips, observing for a moment.
"Fine. It's not like there's any part of you I haven't seen," she muttered. With that, she rolled up her sleeves and, in a flash, stripped Gu Xinran bare and carried her to the bathtub.
Lying in the tub, Xinran's cheeks were still flushed, a faint smell of alcohol emanating from her. Her skin from the shoulders up was pink, and her straight, delicate collarbones were exquisite and beautiful, looking particularly alluring.
Bai Yilan scooped water with her hands and gently washed her body.
There were several new bruises on her body, likely from bumps during filming. If she hadn't seen them now, Yilan would never have known.
On her chest, her waist, the outside of her thigh… seeing them made Bai Yilan's brows furrow tightly.
When it came to the more private areas, she quickly passed over them, averting her gaze and struggling to keep a clear head, not wanting to take advantage of the situation.
Soon, she was clean. Bai Yilan helped Xinran up, wrapped her in a bath towel, and carried her back to the bedroom.
After placing her on the bed, she covered her with a thin blanket, set the air conditioner to sleep mode, and glanced at her. Seeing her brows relaxed and her expression peaceful, it seemed she was sleeping comfortably. Only then did Bai Yilan finally tend to herself.
After her shower, Bai Yilan was exhausted and desperately missed her bed.
Pushing open the bedroom door, Bai Yilan froze. The woman had her back to her, having kicked off the blanket, her smooth, fair back completely exposed to the air.
"Hiss…" Bai Yilan put her hands on her hips. Anyone who didn't know better would think she was trying to seduce someone!
She walked to the side of the bed and touched her back. It was cool to the touch. She quickly pulled the blanket back over her.
Gu Xinran rolled over, sticking a leg out from the other side.
The sight of that perfectly shaped, luminously white leg made Bai Yilan's vision swim. She closed her eyes and took several deep breaths.
"Gu Xinran, you better behave," Bai Yilan said, her eyes unconsciously drifting to her leg. Her throat bobbed as she swallowed hard. She forcefully pulled the blanket over her again, covering her up completely.
And then, the scene became incredibly bizarre.
Gu Xinran was lying flat on her back, straight as a board, while Bai Yilan held the corners of the blanket, straddling her.
Bai Yilan focused her gaze on the tip of her nose, then her mouth, then her heart—anywhere but at her—trying to control her wandering eyes.
Gu Xinran frowned. She tried to lift her hands but couldn't. The blanket was too restrictive. She groggily blinked her eyes open.
"Yilan, why aren't you asleep yet…" Gu Xinran struggled to open her eyes. Her head was splitting. She managed to free one hand and press it to her forehead.
"What time is it?" She glanced up at the wall clock. "It's so late…"
She muttered to herself, then looked down and saw Yilan straddling her, looking at her with some embarrassment.
Gu Xinran's mind was a chaotic mess. She reached up and patted her head. "What… oh, alright. Come on, then." She had been confused, but then it was as if she remembered something. Her tone shifted, and she sat up, pulling Yilan into a full embrace. In one swift motion, she turned them over, laying Yilan down on the bed. She propped herself up with her hands, trapping Yilan in her arms, and smiled at her with a doting expression.
"??????" Bai Yilan was completely dumbfounded.
"Let's be quiet, we don't want to wake the child."
"W-wait, Xinran? Xin… Mmph!"
Gu Xinran gently kissed her eyes and reached over to turn off the bedside lamp.
"Mhm…"
The night passed without another word.
The next morning, Gu Xinran was woken up by a phone call. Her mind was still foggy, and she felt drained. She groggily picked up her phone from the nightstand and put it to her ear.
"Hello?"
"Hey? Sister Ran, where are you? I came to your place to pick you up, but you're not here."
It took Gu Xinran a moment to recognize Fang Yi's voice on the other end.
"What?"
"Didn't we agree to go to the company at nine today? I'm at your house, where are you??"
"I'm in bed, I haven't gotten up yet."
"?? In bed? Stop joking, there isn't even a ghost in your house. Whose bed are you in!??"
"???"
Her question left Gu Xinran stunned. She turned her head to look around.
Hiss… it looked a little familiar, but it seemed… it didn't seem like her own home!?
Gu Xinran was instantly wide awake and shot up in bed.
However, after sitting up, she was dumbfounded again.
She was wearing a mid-length T-shirt pajama top.
"Hey? Where are my clothes!?"
"What?? Don't scare me!! You didn't go and make some kind of explosive news again, did you!!!" Fang Yi exploded on the other end.
Finding her too noisy, Gu Xinran hung up the phone. She patted her head, trying to clear it.
This room looked very familiar. The white duvet cover even had little light blue flowers embroidered on it. Hiss…
Yilan!?
Gu Xinran's mind cleared. Wasn't this Yilan's bedroom!
She spent the night here last night?
Then what was with this outfit??
She tried hard to remember. Last night, she seemed to have dreamed about her and Yilan…
No way?
She quickly got up and went to the living room, but surprisingly, she didn't see anyone.
Her bag wasn't there either. It looked like she had already left.
Gu Xinran scratched her head, feeling a bit lost. She went to the bathroom to wash her face and saw in the mirror that there was a small hickey on her neck!!!
She was utterly gobsmacked!!
Oh my god… what happened last night… could it have been real???
Gu Xinran sat on the sofa for a while. All she remembered was drinking a glass of strangely flavored juice last night, and then she seemed to have blacked out. She had several dreams, dreaming that Yilan drove her home, gave her a bath, and that they were… intimate…
The more she thought about it, the more it felt wrong. She picked up her phone and called Yilan.
Unexpectedly, no one answered.
Gu Xinran scrolled through her contacts and dialed Jin Shuang's number.
"Hello? Xinran, are you okay? Feeling better?" Jin Shuang asked with concern.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Was I drunk yesterday?"
"Of course! Didn't you know you're a one-drink-wonder??"
"…" I do now. :)
"Sister Shuang, is Yilan with you?"
"No, she should be with Young President Ming. I think they went to the gym. I heard she's practicing boxing."
"Box… ing?"
"Yup, she said it was to defend against perverts~"
…?
That pervert… couldn't be me, could it???
