VBNWDW - Chapter 27

Chapter 27

Although a taste of pleasure leads to an insatiable appetite, Luo Yueqing was not an inconsiderate Alpha.

After teasing Xi Zhoulu twice the next day, she obediently let her rest.

After all, rest was non-negotiable. CEO Xi had the words "overindulgence" practically written on her face. Plus, she had to go back to earning money to support the family the day after tomorrow. Luo Yueqing thought about her twenty-million-dollar freeloader lifestyle and managed to restrain herself with great effort.

So, nothing much happened that day. Xi Zhoulu simply took Luo Yueqing out for a few seafood meals, and they watched the sunset by the sea together before calling it a day.

After returning to the Capital, Xi Zhoulu rested briefly before rushing to the company. It was already a rare feat to get the workaholic to take a break, so Luo Yueqing didn't stop her, simply clinging to Xi Zhoulu for a couple of kisses before letting her go.

Now, she was lying in bed, contemplating the long-forgotten plan to save the villainess.

From what she knew of the original world, Xi Zhoulu's descent into villainy was traceable, a path of destruction paved by one breakdown after another.

First was Xi Zhoulu's incurable leg condition. It was unclear what kind of injury she had sustained, but while Xi Zhoulu had feeling in her legs, they were extremely weak. Even with the best medical equipment and teams the Xi family could provide, she could only manage to stand for a moment with the help of a cane before her strength gave out.

This was a major reason for Xi Zhoulu's sensitive, suspicious, and even somewhat insecure personality.

Luo Yueqing recalled how Xi Zhoulu had unconsciously tried to hide and avoid the topic on the yacht, in the bathtub, and on the large bed.

She immediately asked, "System, can you heal Xi Zhoulu's legs?"

The System, which had been absent for a long time, replied, "This system is not equipped with medical functions."

Luo Yueqing was silent for a moment, then comforted herself, "Right. You can't even display a progress bar, so how could you have a high-end function like healing? I was expecting too much."

System: "…"

The second factor was her family of origin. Xi Zhoulu's family life was terrible. Her own father didn't care for her, her stepmother and stepbrother saw her as a thorn in their side, and she had an extremely strict grandfather who only viewed her as the most suitable heir, devoid of any affection.

The third was the Xi Group. Perhaps it was the values instilled by her grandfather since childhood, or perhaps it was a desire to make the other three Xi family members regret their actions, but Xi Zhoulu's obsession with inheriting the group was incredibly strong. To put it bleakly, aside from the wealth and power of the group, she had almost nothing.

That was why she was so devastated later when she learned that Old Master Xi's will left a large portion of the assets and even a third of the shares to Xi Yunting.

In truth, this wasn't hard to see. Although Old Master Xi appeared to be a stubborn, old-fashioned feudalist who was outwardly indifferent to Xi Yunting, how could Xi Yunting have lived so comfortably without his father's indulgence?

He had married a wife, had a son, held no job, and still managed to spend lavishly every day.

Xi Zhoulu had seen this, which was why she still transferred money to the three of them whenever they asked, despite her loathing for them, all to win her grandfather's approval. But she truly hadn't expected the old man to go so far in the end.

The fourth factor was Luo Yueqing herself. After Xi Zhoulu had accepted the original host and truly let her into her heart, the original host chose to leave her for Xi Zhoukang. This was something Xi Zhoulu simply could not accept, and it became the final straw that broke her, the key to her descent into villainy.

Luo Yueqing mused to herself. This fourth point would absolutely not happen again. As for the first and second points, she couldn't prevent them in advance, so she could only try her best to change things slightly.

And the third point…

Luo Yueqing remembered that Xi Zhoulu had considered it and taken corresponding measures. Otherwise, she wouldn't have been able to smoothly inherit all the shares and eventually have the power to destroy the world, even with Old Master Xi giving most of the assets to Xi Yunting.

The phone lying beside her chimed with a notification. Luo Yueqing glanced at it before sinking back into her thoughts.

It was a message from Xi Zhoulu's butler, reminding her that in ten minutes, people would arrive with limited-edition dresses and jewelry for her to choose from.

Xi Zhoulu had told her about this in advance.

Xi Zhoulu taking time off wasn't a big deal, but it was certainly a rarity. When her friends in their small social circle found out, they sent several messages asking her to come out for a gathering. And so, tonight, she was taking Luo Yueqing with her.

Speaking of this social circle, even with Xi Zhoulu's cold and aloof personality, no one could go it alone in the upper echelons of society.

Those wily elders would arrange gatherings for the younger generation every so often, precisely so their descendants would get to know each other from a young age and play together. In the future, they could lend each other a hand when needed. Even if it was based on mutual benefit, it was more trustworthy than dealing with strangers. This was why so many people desperately tried to squeeze into the upper circles.

Moreover, this was a circle that Xi Zhoukang couldn't enter. Although Old Master Xi didn't particularly like Xi Zhoulu, he had always raised her as his heir. The people in her social circle held similar statuses in their own families. To put it bluntly, Xi Zhoukang was the child of a stepmother, and the self-proclaimed nobles all looked down on him.

Thus, this small circle became crucial to Xi Zhoulu's later power struggle.

A knock on the door interrupted her thoughts. Luo Yueqing got up and walked out. The process of picking and choosing took up the entire afternoon, and in the blink of an eye, night fell.

The sweltering heat was not chased away by the darkness. The already yellowing leaves drooped, their tips hanging listlessly. Fallen leaves on the ground were swept up by the wheels of a car, only to spiral back down again.

A seemingly understated but extremely luxurious car stopped quietly at the entrance. The person in the back seat extended a pale, slender hand and pushed the door open, revealing her full appearance.

Perhaps because she was meeting with friends, Xi Zhoulu was dressed casually today.

A dark trench coat was left open, revealing a white shirt underneath. The top button of the shirt was undone, showing a silver chain. A matching silver square watch adorned her wrist. While not exactly relaxed, it was a far cry from her usual rigid and serious demeanor.

Luo Yueqing's gaze lingered on her face. A pair of silver-framed square glasses rested on the bridge of her nose, softening her originally exquisite and cold features and adding a touch of scholarly grace.

"Come," Xi Zhoulu said in a low voice, patting her thigh when she saw Luo Yueqing standing still.

She had long grown accustomed to this Alpha's shamelessness. Ever since the last banquet, the other woman would often find opportunities to sit on her lap. And Xi Zhoulu not only indulged it but would even actively cooperate with her shameless antics.

But this time, Luo Yueqing didn't press against her. Instead, she painstakingly walked around to the other side and opened the door to get in herself.

Seeing this, Xi Zhoulu couldn't help but frown, subconsciously wondering what she had done to displease Luo Yueqing this time.

A faint scent of roses coiled around her. Before Xi Zhoulu could figure it out, Luo Yueqing snuggled up against her arm.

It seemed she wasn't angry about anything.

Xi Zhoulu's brow relaxed. Her pale, grayish-blue eyes looked at the other woman as she asked directly, "What's wrong?"

Once something becomes a habit, even a slight deviation feels unsettling.

Luo Yueqing was momentarily confused before she understood, her eyes shifting as she completed the other woman's thought, "Why didn't I sit on your lap?"

Xi Zhoulu nodded, her gaze never leaving Luo Yueqing.

The woman beside her laughed, her stunningly beautiful eyes sweeping over like a spring breeze. She glanced down at Xi Zhoulu's legs and said, "Are your legs not sore anymore?"

Xi Zhoulu's expression froze as she was reminded of the past two days. How could an Omega new to such things withstand an Alpha's wild behavior? The next day, her back was aching and her legs were weak. Even while sitting in her wheelchair, she had secretly rubbed her lower back several times.

Looking at the person beside her, who was smiling with blatant triumph, Xi Zhoulu turned her head to face forward, no longer wanting to engage with her.

But Luo Yueqing wouldn't give up so easily. She hooked her arm through Xi Zhoulu's, her soft curves unconsciously pressing against the other woman. She rested her head on Xi Zhoulu's shoulder and said with another smile, "Still sore? I can rub it for you."

As the saying goes, some people play innocent after taking advantage. But in Luo Yueqing's case, it was more like taking advantage made her even more audacious.

Xi Zhoulu looked up, glancing at her with absolutely no deterrent effect.

Not only was Luo Yueqing not afraid, but she even moved closer to Xi Zhoulu's earlobe and asked knowingly, "What, are you shy?"

"I'm just going to rub it for you, I won't do anything else."

Xi Zhoulu pressed her lips together, not believing her nonsense for a second. The other woman had said the exact same thing yesterday, and then the rubbing had moved higher and higher, right under her clothes, and then…

"Luo Yueqing," Xi Zhoulu said, trying to sound cold as she chided her in a low voice, but her earlobe quietly turned a little red.

In the end, a proper heir raised under strict tutelage was no match for Luo Yueqing's shamelessness.

"Xi Zhoulu," the other woman mimicked her tone, drawing out each syllable. Not only was she unafraid, but she was growing bolder.

Helpless, Xi Zhoulu had to turn to look at her, attempting to change the subject. "How was dinner today? Did you eat enough?"

What a clumsy attempt to change the topic.

Luo Yueqing ignored her question, instead leaning in even closer. Her red lips brushed against the other woman's neck as she murmured, "Xi Zhoulu, you don't even miss me."

It was a mystery how she had arrived at that conclusion.

Xi Zhoulu sighed and went along with her. "What's wrong?"

"You didn't even kiss me," she whined, her drawn-out tone filled with grievance. A hint of injustice appeared in her beautiful eyes. It was as if she'd been taking lessons from some theater troupe, her ability to change expressions was so exquisite.

Xi Zhoulu's gaze darkened. She hesitated for a moment before leaning down.

But before she could touch Luo Yueqing, she suddenly heard the other woman say, "Xi Zhoulu, I'm wearing lipstick today."

Xi Zhoulu froze abruptly.

Luo Yueqing had a bewitching beauty, and bold lipstick shades that others couldn't pull off looked just right on her. Xi Zhoulu, on the other hand, had pale skin, and even the slightest smudge of color would be incredibly conspicuous…

Luo Yueqing continued, "I just touched your neck."

She didn't even say "I think." It was a statement of fact.

Xi Zhoulu took a deep breath and said in a low voice, "Are you unhappy?"

Only then did Luo Yueqing nod, saying very honestly, "I was tired from trying on clothes all day."

"And?" Xi Zhoulu felt there was more to it.

Luo Yueqing blinked and continued, "You didn't have dinner with me."

Xi Zhoulu explained in a gentle voice, "There was too much to do at the company. I really couldn't make it back."

Luo Yueqing nodded in understanding, then added, "Just now, I wanted to move my things to your room, but the butler wouldn't let me. He even stopped me."

Xi Zhoulu finally understood. This was the real reason for Luo Yueqing's tantrum.

She rubbed her brow and said good-naturedly, "I'll have a word with them. You can move in and sleep with me tonight."

Luo Yueqing was finally satisfied, tightening her grip on the other woman's arm.

Xi Zhoulu looked at her and could finally ask, "Now, can you help me wipe it off?"

Without needing a mirror, Xi Zhoulu could imagine just how eye-catching the lipstick mark on her neck was.

Luo Yueqing naturally agreed, obligingly taking out a tissue.

The car drove out of the manor and, in a flash, arrived amidst the bustling, dazzling city lights.
