DDT - Chapter 40
Chapter 40: School Tyrant × The Pushover (17)
Several of the lackeys held the girls down in their chairs to prevent them from escaping. Wang Yun and her friends were so scared their hands and feet began to tremble.
"You… How did you find us?!" Wang Yun's voice was full of resentment and anger.
What was so great about that Yi Shuhan anyway?! The school tyrant was willing to stand up for her time and again! She even managed to track them down despite them using alternate accounts!
"Are you trying to 'die' with a bit more understanding?" Chi Junluo's soft laugh came through the phone's speaker. "There are too many things in this world you don't understand. Don't think you're so impressive just because you found someone who knows some simple photo editing."
"There's a profession called 'hacker,' you idiot."
Chi Junluo's voice was filled with malice, making no effort to hide her contempt for Wang Yun and the others.
"Hmph, so what if you called the police, Sister Chi? The news that Yi Shuhan is being kept by some old man has already spread throughout the whole school! Haha, let's see how Yi Shuhan can hold her head up in front of her classmates now!" At this point, Wang Yun had nothing left to lose. She had already offended Chi Junluo and couldn't escape the police. As long as the rumor she wanted to spread was out there, that was all that mattered! If she was going down, she was dragging Yi Shuhan down with her!
Hearing this, Chi Junluo frowned. She had considered this point. Although Wang Yun and the others were now under control and the forum administrator had deleted most of the posts, the rumor had already reached countless students. High schoolers at this age loved to gossip. Before long, the news would be flying everywhere.
Most importantly, thanks to Wang Yun and her friends, Yi Shuhan's class and full name had been exposed, along with a personal photo. In just half a day, the rumor had already spread to an unmanageable degree.
Chi Junluo thought it over carefully. She might be the school tyrant and know people around town, but when it came to Yi Shuhan's situation, there was nothing she could do besides call the police and deal with the girls who started the rumor. To quell this on campus was something she, with her lack of background, definitely couldn't achieve. She would have to rack her brain to figure out a way to clear the filth that had been thrown on Yi Shuhan.
"Wang Yun, you're getting too arrogant. Have you forgotten who I am?" Chi Junluo's cold voice came through the phone. "Phone bills are expensive. Xiao Bai, search them. Take all their money to cover our phone bill for tonight."
Collecting protection money was a daily routine for delinquents in every school and neighborhood. It was just that the previous Chi Junluo had been more upright and disdained such things. The original owner would rather work a part-time job than bully the weak for so-called protection fees.
But today was different. Wang Yun's actions had infuriated Chi Junluo. Xiao Bai handed the phone to a lackey beside him and started patting down Wang Yun's pockets himself.
Seeing this, Wang Yun began to shout, trying to attract the attention of others in the internet cafe. "Let go of me! What are you doing?! Don't touch me!"
The girl's cries indeed caught the attention of many people in the cafe. Two guys saw a group of boys cornering a few girls, seemingly touching them. The girls were quite pretty, and in an instant, their chivalrous instincts were sparked. The two were about to stand up and intervene when their friend pulled them back.
"Bro, don't go. Those guys are delinquents from the Qingshui district. They have a boss. Be careful not to piss them off, or you'll be carried out of here." Their friend had clearly recognized Xiao Bai and his crew. The two guys hesitated for a moment and decided to suppress their hero-in-shining-armor urges and observe for a while longer.
Chi Junluo obviously heard Wang Yun's deliberately misleading shouts and spoke up. "So you want to play the whore and still get a monument to your virtue? Do you enjoy seducing men that much?"
"Xiao Bai, slap her. Teach her a lesson."
Ignoring the fact that Chi Junluo couldn't see him, Xiao Bai nodded at the phone, raised his hand high, and swung it down hard.
"Smack!" A crisp sound of flesh hitting flesh echoed from the corner. The few guys who were watching subconsciously touched their own faces.
The guys: (@[]@!!)… How scary!
The slap left Wang Yun's head spinning. She opened her mouth to scream again, but Xiao Bai was quick. He backhanded her again. Now both of Wang Yun's cheeks were struck, and the pain left her speechless.
Wang Yun's little friends had long since fallen silent, shrinking into their chairs, not daring to move.
Xiao Bai searched them one by one, finding only a few dozen yuan. He reported the amount to Chi Junluo. "Tsk, so little. That's barely enough for the brothers to get some barbecue," Chi Junluo's voice was full of disdain.
At the mention of barbecue, the lackeys' mouths began to water, and they all secretly rubbed their hands together.
About twenty minutes later, a set of orderly footsteps echoed from the internet cafe's stairwell. The owner was wondering what was happening when he saw several people in police uniforms walk in. The owner's face instantly turned pale. He must have had eight lifetimes of bad luck today for the police to show up.
Contrary to what the owner imagined, the police officers bypassed the front desk and walked directly toward the corner of the main hall.
In the corner, a few delinquent-looking guys were surrounding several weak-looking girls. Recalling that the person who reported the crime was a girl, the officers quickened their pace. "Nobody move, we're the police! Who called us?"
In the officers' experience, these delinquents would either be scared out of their wits or act like dead pigs unafraid of boiling water. Why did these guys today look so righteous? On the other hand, one of the girls had a red, swollen face, while the others were pale, their eyes darting around guiltily.
"Hello, officers. I'm the one who called. These girls in front of you are suspected of fabricating rumors and distorting the truth. They created pornographic images to slander a student at our school, and it has already caused serious repercussions. I hope you can bring justice for my friend." Chi Junluo's calm and composed voice came from the phone, sounding utterly righteous, with a hint of grievance and indignation for her friend.
Almost instantly, the police officers were convinced of the credibility of Chi Junluo's words.
"Xiao Bai, show the officers the evidence."
Chi Junluo directed everything in an orderly manner. The police quickly collected the evidence and took photos, not delaying their work at all. Their impression of the yet-unseen Chi Junluo improved significantly.
During the evidence collection, Wang Yun tried to argue, but with ironclad proof, her words seemed pale and powerless.
"Take these girls away," the lead officer commanded. The other officers immediately pulled Wang Yun and her friends to their feet and half-pushed them toward the police car outside.
A few of Chi Junluo's lackeys were also asked to come along to give their statements. At the police's request, Chi Junluo also came downstairs and went to the station to give her statement as well.
Before leaving the internet cafe, the lead officer glanced at the owner, making him break out in a cold sweat. The officer tapped his finger on the counter. "You're the owner, right? Illegally allowing minors to use the internet. You're coming with me too."
With a bitter expression, the owner had no choice but to follow them out of the cafe and into the police car.
The statements took until nearly 11 PM. At first, Wang Yun wanted to resist and deny everything, but once she was in the interrogation room with a bright white light shining on her face, her resolve crumbled. She confessed to everything she had done.
Her friends, even more so, pushed all the blame onto Wang Yun.
Chi Junluo politely cooperated with the statement process, reasonably expressing her indignation and sorrow over what her friend had suffered, making the police completely forget the fact that this girl had an entire school of lackeys at her command.
As expected, Wang Yun and the others' parents were notified. But even after their families arrived, they couldn't leave. According to the relevant laws and regulations, Wang Yun and her friends would be held in administrative detention for 15 days.
After leaving the police station, Chi Junluo stood alone in the cold wind. She asked a lackey for her phone, dismissed the group, and returned to the internet cafe by herself.
She transferred the video from the phone to the computer and watched it from the beginning. Halfway through, she became too angry to continue.
"Heavenly Dao, help me find Yi Shuhan's parents' email addresses," Chi Junluo requested help from the Heavenly Dao in her sea of consciousness.
"Hey, you got it." The Heavenly Dao understood Chi Junluo's intentions and began searching along the world's timeline.
Chi Junluo understood that she couldn't completely help Yi Shuhan with this matter. She had no power or influence. But that didn't mean Yi Shuhan's family didn't have money and power.
Thinking about how she would be leaving this world soon, Yi Shuhan would need her family's companionship on her future path without her care and company. Why not take this opportunity to help her mend her relationship with her family?
Chi Junluo was certain that Yi Shuhan's parents loved her; they just weren't good at expressing it and spent very little time with their child. Often, simply providing financial support isn't enough to make a child feel content. For a child, the support, understanding, and companionship of their parents are the most important things.
The companionship of family is true happiness, a kind of happiness that money can't buy.
In the western part of the capital of China, a high-society evening banquet was being held in a private mountain villa.
In the enormous third-floor ballroom, distinguished guests danced gracefully in pairs. Elegant classical music filled the entire hall, and warm light gently fell upon the guests.
Outside the dance floor was a long buffet table, where the dishes, prepared by China's top chefs, looked, smelled, and tasted exquisite.
A middle-aged couple was leaning lightly against the table, elegantly holding glasses of champagne and taking small sips.
Suddenly, the man's pocket vibrated. Before attending the banquet, he had specifically set his phone to silent and instructed his secretary not to disturb him during the event. Now, the man was somewhat displeased. But his secretary knew how to prioritize, so he glanced around, quickly left the ballroom, and walked out onto a balcony.
Seeing that her husband seemed to have urgent business, the madam followed him onto the balcony. Their departure did not attract much attention.
On the balcony, the man answered the phone. After hearing his secretary's report, his face darkened at a visible rate.
The madam watched her husband worriedly until he hung up. "Let's leave first. Tell Old Wang we need to go back immediately," the man said in a serious tone.
"Did something happen?" the madam asked nervously.
Putting his phone back in his pocket, the man adjusted his expression and took his wife's arm, walking toward the host, Old Wang. "My secretary just called to inform me that two videos were sent to my private email. They're of Shuhan."
Although he wasn't sure what kind of videos they were, judging from his secretary's hesitant voice, it was definitely not good news. Moreover, that was his private email!
After saying their goodbyes, the two hurriedly rushed back to their residence.
