CSGM - Chapter 6

Chapter 6: A Perfect Approach

"Say that again. Who wrote this?"

The Peking University Cousin grabbed his younger cousin's hand and pressed for an answer, a look of pleasant surprise flashing in his eyes.

The younger cousin scratched his head.

"A cele... celebrity... I don't know who she is, but she was really pretty."

The cousin asked, "She just wrote this for you?"

The younger cousin nodded. "Yeah. What is it? Let me see."

His cousin was so excited. Could the celebrity have left him her contact information?

At this thought, the younger cousin's eyes lit up too. He quickly snatched the sticky note back to take a look-

"Huh-?"

What was this?

The solution to a math problem?

While he was lost in a daze, his cousin snatched the sticky note back again.

The audience was bursting with curiosity.

【What on earth did Chu Xi write? Why are they fighting over it?】

【Aaaah, now I want to see it too. Something Chu Xi wrote is a treasure they'd fight for?】

【Is there something my VIP membership doesn't let me see? Cameraman! Zoom in on it!】

【Could it be something not suitable for children...】

【I feel like that's something Chu Xi would do. Getting ready to report her.】

"Ah..." The cousin stared rapturously at the sticky note Chu Xi had left, letting out an involuntary sigh. His expression was no less reverent than a Christian seeing the Bible.

He murmured, "She's incredible... A goddess... How did I not think of this solution?"

After muttering to himself, he turned to his bewildered cousin and said, "Why didn't you show me the note she left you earlier? She wrote out the solution to the last major problem for you right here!"

The younger cousin said innocently, "I didn't see it just now. But you were already here to teach me, so it doesn't matter if I didn't see hers, right? I have you."

The look of astonishment still lingered on the cousin's face. He asked, half-convinced, "Are you sure she's a celebrity?"

To be able to solve this problem so elegantly, wasn't she some academic god who had returned from abroad? Or a professor from a prestigious university!

The younger cousin replied, "Yeah, she was just filming a show and came into the shop for a bit. She took my test paper to have a look."

The cousin put down the sticky note and shook his head, a hint of defeat finally showing on his face.

There's always someone better out there.

Don't celebrities make a living with their looks? How could their brains be so sharp too? Even as a student in the Peking University mathematics department, he had to admit it:

"The celebrity you mentioned, her approach to solving this problem is far more brilliant than mine. Her method is also simpler, easier to learn, and more suitable for you."

"I never even thought you could solve this problem by just drawing two auxiliary lines. She's amazing!"

After his sigh of admiration, the cousin was once again clicking his tongue in amazement, lost in the perfect problem-solving approach Chu Xi had left behind, one that far surpassed his own.

"Her approach is so good, truly excellent, so good... Brilliant! If only I had come a bit earlier, I could have discussed it with her in person! Ah, what a pity!"

As he spoke, the cousin slapped his thigh.

Although he hadn't met Chu Xi, his face was already filled with admiration and respect for her.

The younger cousin was both baffled and shocked.

He couldn't understand what his Peking University cousin wrote, and he couldn't understand what Chu Xi wrote either. But it seemed his cousin understood Chu Xi's writing and even thought she was better than him...

The younger cousin's brain finally connected the dots-

Did that mean the female celebrity was even better at math than his cousin?!

But wasn't his cousin studying in the mathematics department at Peking University?

The younger cousin was also astonished, a sentence slipping from his lips, "Damn, I thought she was just scribbling something random..."

The shop owner, who had been listening from the side, shouted in disbelief, "What? That celebrity from earlier actually solved the problem?"

The cousin nodded. "Yes, Uncle. She wrote a better solution than I did! I'll teach her method to my cousin now; he'll definitely understand it."

He then turned to his cousin and said, "Come on, sit down."

The younger cousin: "..." You really don't have to have that much confidence in me, you know?

The shop owner stared with his small eyes, finding it incredible.

From what he saw, didn't that celebrity just casually grab a few pieces of paper and doodle on them? How did she solve the problem? And his nephew said she did it even better than him? That's impossible, right?

After grasping Chu Xi's approach, the cousin explained it to his younger cousin, praising it profusely all the while.

He couldn't help but ask, "Why didn't you watch her while she was solving this problem? If you had asked her in person, you might have learned even more." He imparted a piece of wisdom to his cousin, "To learn math, you have to study diligently and ask questions often."

The younger cousin scratched the back of his head and mumbled, "I didn't know she was solving the problem. She just glanced at it, then tore off a few sticky notes... and finished in a moment. I thought she was drawing."

The cousin was startled and asked, "How long did it take her to solve this problem?"

Could it be that she thought of this optimal approach the moment she saw the problem?

If that was true, that person was just too incredible!

The younger cousin thought for a moment. "About... five minutes? She wasn't in here for more than a few minutes in total before she left."

Five minutes...

Five minutes!!!

The cousin, who had initially assumed this solution was the optimal answer she had devised after deep thought and repeated deliberation, could no longer contain his shock upon hearing this. It all burst forth at once!

"Holy crap... five minutes... This was actually her first thought!"

Even a top student from Peking University couldn't help but curse.

This time, the cousin dropped his pen and pressed both hands to his head.

Chu Xi had spent less than half the time he did, yet the elegance of her solution was a cut above his!

What did five minutes mean?

It meant she had thought of this answer the instant she saw the problem, without spending any extra time thinking at all!

He was a dedicated math major, while she was just an artist in the entertainment industry who probably had less time to study the subject than he did.

The cousin's hands slid from his forehead to his eyelids, covering his eyes as he began to question his life.

"Xiao Qiang, if you find out who that celebrity who solved the problem for you is, remember to let me know. With her level of skill, she could be my teacher!" After a moment of silence, he said to his cousin.

To think the entertainment industry had such an academic god. He had to become a fan!

Chu Xi's three sticky notes had completely changed his perception of the entertainment industry!

"Remember, remember! You have to tell me her name!"

The cousin was genuinely desperate to know who this master was, who could produce such a solution in just five minutes.

The Peking University student's admiration for Chu Xi was written all over his face, a development that left the live stream viewers completely stunned.

The cameraman, understanding the situation, quietly panned the camera, focusing the lens on the sticky notes Chu Xi had left.

This way, the audience could also see some of the mathematical symbols written on them.

【Holy shit, no way??????????】

【Did Chu Xi really write out the solution for a solid geometry problem??? I don't believe it!!!!!!!】

【But there's even a geometric diagram she drew on the sticky note...】

【I'm just saying, could the shop owner's family be actors hired by the production team? To whitewash Chu Xi.】

【I only believe that Chu Xi is illiterate. A person who could invent the term 'quadrilateral triangle' on a variety show can now solve the final, most difficult problem on a high school sophomore's exam? It's an act!】

【I have to say, is it that hard to accept that other people are outstanding? Where would the production team find so many extras for you to watch? And extras with the Peking University emblem on their clothes?】

To say this was also part of the script was a bit too far-fetched. The memory of Li Xiling coming here and almost getting into an argument with the shop owner was still fresh in everyone's minds. The Golden Melody Queen had been genuinely angry at the time.

Aside from some die-hard anti-fans who particularly hated Chu Xi, almost no sane person believed such a claim.

【This is just a small show. Hiring Ren Zhi probably took up half their budget. If everything was an act, the cost would be enough to shoot a movie. What would be the point for the director? Haters, shut up.】

The regular viewers weren't necessarily speaking up for Chu Xi; it was just that the claims made up by the haters were too insulting to their intelligence. If people could believe this, did the haters think their IQ was low enough to be trampled on?!

It was just ridiculous!

But... Chu Xi's move was also unbelievably ridiculous!

【To be fair, I did see Chu Xi writing on the sticky notes with my own eyes earlier...】

【I'm done for, why do I feel like Chu Xi is totally my type!!! So cool and so capable!!!】

【Anyone who can solve a high school math final problem is super cool, okay!】

【Didn't it take the top student from Peking University that the shop owner called over ten minutes to solve this problem? But Chu Xi only took five...】

【And the top student said Chu Xi's approach was better than his :)】

【All I can say is, with math problems, the harder they are, the more ways there are to solve them.】

【The top student's expression doesn't look like he's acting.】

【Acting? I feel like he's about to fall in love with Chu Xi from afar. If that's acting, his skills are award-worthy.】

【Hey!!! You're a top student from Peking University!! Have some self-respect!!!】

【Can someone please go tell him Chu Xi only graduated from middle school? Wake the top student up! This is not your sapiosexual soulmate!】

Most of the viewers were ordinary people. In China, most people subconsciously admire top students who can get into Peking University. After all, who didn't have a childhood dream of struggling to choose between Tsinghua and Peking University?

The country's most famous top-tier universities were a living brand that brought prestige just by mentioning their names!

But if even a current student from Peking University looked up to Chu Xi... then by extension, shouldn't the viewers who admired the top student admire Chu Xi even more?

【Education level can't represent everything, right? I feel like Chu Xi's IQ is really high...】

【Wuwuwu, I think this is real, because Chu Xi was so confident just now, it didn't seem like an act. (Her acting isn't that good).】

【Um... has anyone noticed that Chu Xi has a very alpha vibe?】

【I noticed!!!】

【Hey, hey, hey, wake up, you looks-obsessed fans! As punishment, go watch a compilation of 'Nine-Year Education Leaky Fish' moments!!】

【Can you use your brains? Even high school students who do practice problems every day have to think for a long time when they encounter the final math problem. Chu Xi never even went to high school, how could she solve it? And one problem in five minutes? It's so fake, yet people believe it?】

【Would you rather believe she's a hidden academic god, or that I'm the First Emperor of Qin?】

【If she really had that kind of brain, wouldn't she crush all the other celebrities in the entertainment industry? Even those who graduated from 985 and 211 universities wouldn't be as impressive as her.】

Oh, speaking of crushing all the other celebrities in the entertainment industry, that was indeed part of Chu Xi's plan.

After all, her mission was to start with the artists. Sooner or later, she would have to educate every single one of them.
