Chapter 5: A Kiss
They finally arrived at the police station. Upon reaching Director Liu's office, Old Master Tao, who had been stern-faced moments before, immediately broke into a smile, beaming like a flower. He called out, "Qinqin, I brought your mother!"
Just as Tao Qiuyun was about to stop him, her eyes met those of Tao Aiqin, who was sitting on a chair, swinging her little feet. The woman's body instantly froze.
This... this was simply a miniature version of herself, only with more delicate features.
Tao Qiuyun frowned. She felt like she had seen those eyes somewhere before.
"Where's Mama?" The girl's soft voice instantly lightened the previously tense atmosphere.
Old Master Tao felt his great-granddaughter was radiating cuteness. He glared back at Tao Qiuyun, then immediately changed his expression and said to Tao Aiqin, "Look, Qinqin, Mama is standing outside the door."
The System clicked its tongue twice in Tao Aiqin's mind. "Her expression is so serious, but her eyes are trembling. From her micro-expressions, she's experiencing a severe mental shock."
"Nonsense. I spent five hours sculpting this face! Anyone with eyes can see I'm her and Qin Qingshang's daughter." Tao Aiqin replied to the System mentally, then, embodying her dramatic persona, she reached out her chubby little hand and grabbed Old Master Tao's sleeve. Seemingly shy, she shook her head and said, "No, she's not Mama."
Seeing the girl flinch, Old Master Tao turned back and, as expected, saw his granddaughter's "cold" expression. He couldn't help but growl, "What kind of face is that! You scared her."
Tao Qiuyun walked forward and looked down at the little girl.
Tao Aiqin: Sys, she's truly a villain, her aura is so strong.
System: I told you, she definitely wouldn't believe she suddenly has a daughter...
Just as the girl was trembling, Tao Qiuyun reached out and stroked her head, then quickly pulled out a few strands of hair.
Tao Aiqin was stunned for a moment, then burst into tears with a "Waaah."
Both the System and Old Master Tao were startled.
System: Why are you crying?
Tao Aiqin: She pulled my hair, she pulled my hair! Hair is my life, does she not understand?! And she pulled several strands!

"Uncle Liu," Tao Qiuyun handed the prepared bag to Director Liu, "I'll trouble you with this."

With Tao Aiqin present, Old Master Tao couldn't openly scold Tao Qiuyun, so he just glared at her several times in secret.
Comforted, Tao Aiqin sniffled and started playing with the toys.
Zhang Cheng breathed a sigh of relief and whispered to Old Master Tao, "Children are easily distracted. We can prepare more toys at home."
Old Master Tao nodded repeatedly.
Seeing this scene, Director Liu looked at Tao Qiuyun and quietly asked, "Qiuqiu, this child Qinqin is unwilling to say who her mother is. Tell me honestly, Uncle Liu, who is that girl?"
At this, Tao Qiuyun felt a headache coming on. After seeing Tao Aiqin, she did indeed suspect, as Wu Hu had said, that this was her daughter, because they looked so alike. "I don't know."
But she truly didn't know who the child's other mother was. Could someone really have made a baby with her without her noticing?
"Nonsense," Director Liu clearly didn't believe her. "With your grandfather's temper, that girl will be found sooner or later. Are you having a spat with her? Or did you, after one night, insult her with money and drive her away?"
Tao Qiuyun looked at Director Liu and pursed her lips. "Uncle Liu, do you think I'm someone who would mess around with women?"
"I used to think you weren't," Director Liu looked at the little princess smiling happily by the table. "But after seeing Qinqin, I'm not so sure."
Tao Qiuyun was silent for a moment. "Let's wait for the test results."
"You know very well in your heart that she is your daughter." Director Liu raised an eyebrow. "What do you plan to do?"
Tao Qiuyun exhaled. Her usually brilliant mind was stuck again. She could only repeat, "I don't know."
"Are you really planning not to take responsibility?" Director Liu stepped back half a step in shock. "Qiuqiu, how can you be a scoundrel! I checked, this child hasn't been registered yet. Do you know what that means?"
"What!" Old Master Tao, who was playing puzzles with his great-granddaughter, couldn't sit still. He stood up and said, "My great-granddaughter doesn't have a household registration?!"
Zhang Cheng frowned. "Without a household registration, Little Miss won't be able to go to school?"
"This is all the stupid things you, this scoundrel, did!" Old Master Tao raised his cane and threw it fiercely towards the ground beside Tao Qiuyun, roaring, "Speak! Whose daughter is she?!"
Tao Aiqin was clearly startled by the commotion and flinched. Old Master Tao, being observant, noticed and quickly turned to comfort her, "Don't be afraid, Great Grandfather is teaching a lesson to the bad person who bullied your Mama!"
"Bullied Mama?" The little girl looked at Old Master Tao, a little confused. "Did she bully Mama?"
"Yes," Old Master Tao, seeing Tao Aiqin's face, no longer had any mind to dote on his granddaughter. All his attention was focused on his great-granddaughter, wanting only to make her happy. "She's a bad person, she bullied your Mama, and she doesn't want to admit her mistake. Great Grandfather is teaching her a lesson and making her apologize to your Mama."
The girl looked timidly at the tall, suit-clad woman. "But she's so pretty, is she really a bad person who bullied Mama?"
Zhang Cheng couldn't help but chuckle. Old Master Tao's chest shook with laughter. He reached out and stroked Tao Aiqin's head. The hime cut hairstyle paired with this face was truly adorable. "Fortunately, she's not too bad. Although she bullied your Mama, she's now trying to get your Mama's forgiveness. Once your Mama forgives her, she won't be a bad person anymore."
System: Didn't you say you were irreconcilable with your villain mom? How come you're praising her?
Tao Aiqin: AI knows nothing about humans, shut up and watch me perform.
System: Tsk.
The girl's bright eyes looked at Tao Qiuyun, and she said softly, "Bad Auntie, can you please not bully my Mama?"
Tao Qiuyun frowned. "Always be wary of strangers. What if the old man in front of you is a human trafficker? Don't believe everything others say."
Tao Aiqin choked, not expecting her focus to be so peculiar. Her face still held an innocent and naive expression, and she pouted, "But, this is where the police sisters are, there won't be human traffickers."
Old Master Tao stood up, trembling. "Is that how you describe your grandfather!"
After saying that, he smiled at Tao Aiqin again. "Qinqin is so smart, she even knows what human traffickers are."
Tao Qiuyun walked over, supported the old man, and looked down at the little girl with teary eyes. Her tone softened unconsciously. "Who is your mother?"
Tao Aiqin shook her head, scurried a few steps, and hid behind Zhang Cheng, seemingly afraid of her. "Great Grandfather said you're the bad person who bullied Mama. Mama hasn't forgiven you, so you're still a bad person! I won't tell you who Mama is, you'll definitely bully her again."
"She wouldn't dare!" Old Master Tao's voice was full of vigor.

"You're an only child, where did you get a sister!" Director Liu was furious. "Why didn't I know you had a sister?"

"Wuwuwu!" The crying little girl looked incredibly pitiful, her head drooping like a lop-eared rabbit. She ran to Tao Qiuyun, clenched her little fists, and pounded hard on the woman's thigh twice, crying loudly, "Mama is sick, it must be because you bullied her, you're a bad person, wuwuwu! I want Mama! I want Mama—"
