ORCBRB – Chapter 81
Chapter 81
The little cat ornament in the car began to shake violently. The planetary alignment never appeared, but when Sang Shi'an looked out, it was as if she saw countless stars.
Not until Jian Cenyu kissed away her tears did her vision become real and clear again.
The night wind grew stronger, making the tree trunks sway incessantly. Every time the wind blew, Sang Shi'an thought someone was about to appear, and her already trembling body would shiver uncontrollably.
Jian Cenyu had longed for this for a long time. She whispered countless sweet nothings into Sang Shi'an's ear, her voice moist and gentle. She then placed a series of delicate kisses on Sang Shi'an's trembling chest, teasing her until Sang Shi'an could no longer hold back her voice.
Her flushed cheeks were slick with sweat, and her complaining voice was close to a sob. "Jian Cenyu... Jian Cenyu..."
Jian Cenyu's free hand interlaced with Sang Shi'an's fingers. Her kisses returned to Sang Shi'an's eyes, then her nose, then her lips.
Sang Shi'an was momentarily soothed. While responding to Jian Cenyu, she urged, "Why aren't you saying anything?"
Jian Cenyu paused, then recited Sang Shi'an's names: "Sang Shi'an... An'an... Baby... Kitty..."
When she heard the word 'Kitty,' Sang Shi'an's entire body trembled violently for a moment, and even the little cat ornament in the car started wagging its tail from side to side again.
"So you like hearing this?" Jian Cenyu sounded as if she had discovered something rare, and she pressed close to Sang Shi'an's ear, calling out softly several more times.
Sang Shi'an couldn't help but squeeze her legs together, her misty eyes glaring at Jian Cenyu with no real threat. "Don't call me that!"
But Jian Cenyu seemed not to hear.
Nibbling on Sang Shi'an, she whispered, "Kitty..."
Her broken curses were replaced by softer, more melodious sounds. Unable to bear it, she shivered all over. "Don't... don't do that..."
Every second was stretched out indefinitely. Sang Shi'an was lost in it, until all she could see and hear was Jian Cenyu, completely consumed by her possessiveness.
It was past midnight when they finished. As Jian Cenyu cleaned up the scene inside the car, Sang Shi'an's legs were still trembling. Leaning against the front of the car to rest, she thought to herself that she must have had nothing better to do to have driven all this way to comfort Jian Cenyu.
She should have just let Jian Cenyu suffer at the Jian residence. It would have been best if she'd been angered to death.
But it was her own car, after all. After letting the wind cool her down for a bit, Sang Shi'an went back to help clean up.
Half an hour later, watching the Jian family's old residence recede into the distance, Sang Shi'an leaned back in the passenger seat, her gaze wandering and her voice still a bit hoarse. "Aren't you going home?"
The ambiguous scent still lingered in the car. Jian Cenyu unbuttoned the top button of her collar she had just fastened. "You don't drive much. I'm not comfortable with you driving at night. I'll take you home."
Sang Shi'an's ears turned a little red. "By the time you get back to the Jian residence, won't it be three in the morning?"
Jian Cenyu estimated the drive time. "Just about."
She looked at Sang Shi'an's hesitant expression and asked thoughtfully, "What did you tell your family before you left?"
As if expecting Sang Shi'an to not tell the truth, she added emphatically, "I want the truth."
Sang Shi'an pouted and said reluctantly, "I said Su Ningyue could only book a flight back to Yuncheng for tomorrow morning, and she had no one to stay with tonight."
Jian Cenyu glanced at her. "And in reality?"
Comparing it to Su Ningyue's vacation, Sang Shi'an said sourly, "Su Ningyue went on vacation to an island with her sister a long time ago."
Jian Cenyu understood the implication in Sang Shi'an's tone and offered, "Once the pharmaceutical reform project stabilizes, we'll go on vacation too, okay?"
Sang Shi'an huffed twice, which was a tacit agreement.
"If Madam Ren asks, just say you were drinking and I happened to run into you and brought you home." Jian Cenyu's gaze met Sang Shi'an's furtive glance. "So, girlfriend, will you let me stay for the night?"
Sang Shi'an's face flushed. "You think you can just stay at my place whenever you want? My brother would definitely laugh me to death. No way."
Jian Cenyu said with a smile in her voice, "If you don't take me in, I'll have to drive back at two in the morning. It's not safe to drive at night."
Just as Sang Shi'an was about to waver, Jian Cenyu added leisurely, "What if someone tries to assault me? Could you bear it?"
Sang Shi'an: ...
Sang Shi'an wanted to say, 'I don't care about you,' but when the words reached her lips, they awkwardly transformed into, "Just leave early tomorrow morning."
"Okay." The smile on Jian Cenyu's face widened.
Before driving into the Sang residence, Sang Shi'an, acting like a thief, had Jian Cenyu turn off the headlights. The road suddenly went dark, and Jian Cenyu slowed the car down.
She couldn't help but want to laugh.
"Will this really keep anyone from noticing?"
Sang Shi'an feigned impatience. "Just drive carefully, or you're not staying."
Jian Cenyu let out a leisurely "Oh," and slowed the car to a crawl, almost as if it were gliding.
When the car came to a stop, Jian Cenyu reached up and touched the little cat ornament that had been swaying the whole way. "When did you get this?"
Sang Shi'an paused while unbuckling her seatbelt and said with a smile, "When I was taking Su Ningyue to the airport, I swiped it from her bag. Isn't it cute?"
Jian Cenyu nodded. "Very cute."
Just as Sang Shi'an was about to reach out and touch it with satisfaction, she heard Jian Cenyu add, "It's a lot like you. Especially when the car is moving and it's swaying back and forth. That's very much like you."
Sang Shi'an: ...
When they entered the house, Sang Shi'an's parents were already asleep, but they couldn't avoid Sang Shiyue, who had been specifically waiting for them.
Sang Shiyue stood at the top of the stairs, arms crossed, looking at the two of them.
Sang Shi'an called out "Brother" first, and Jian Cenyu followed very naturally. The expression on Sang Shiyue's face, who had been about to say something, immediately became colorful.
He waved a hand at Jian Cenyu. "You know where her room is. I have something to say to her."
Jian Cenyu squeezed Sang Shi'an's hand, a brief touch before letting go. Then she headed towards Sang Shi'an's room.
Sang Shiyue called Sang Shi'an into the study. Once the door was closed, he circled her several times, completely baffled. "I've actually always been curious. What is it about Jian Cenyu that you find so attractive? To the point where you can't be apart for even a day?"
Sang Shi'an's reply was concise: "She's good-looking."
That was hard to argue with. Sang Shiyue nodded in understanding. "But her personality is so cold. How do you put up with it?"
His tone wasn't derogatory; he seemed genuinely curious about what allowed Jian Cenyu to hold Sang Shi'an's attention. Sang Shi'an had a lively personality and her friends were all rather extroverted. Logically, she shouldn't get along with someone like Jian Cenyu.
Upon hearing this, Sang Shi'an choked on her own saliva and couldn't stop coughing.
Cold...
She was indeed so 'cold' that it was almost unbearable.
Sang Shiyue poured her a glass of water. Sang Shi'an took a few sips to soothe the tickle in her throat before saying somewhat dazedly, "I just like the cold type."
Sang Shiyue looked at her suspiciously. When Sang Shi'an met his gaze, she nodded firmly twice.
Sang Shiyue: ...
Sang Shiyue gave up on the small talk and took out a document, handing it to Sang Shi'an. "I just had someone prepare this today. Come and sign it."
Sang Shi'an opened the folder. The first line read "Share Transfer Agreement" in large characters.
"What's this?"
Sang Shiyue pointed to the full name of Jian Corporation below. "The Jian family and our Sang family originally each held three percent of the other's company shares. You should know this. The three percent of Jian Corporation was in Mom's hands. I used your internship at Jian Corporation as an excuse to get those shares from her."
"As for the remaining zero point seven percent, those are shares I bought with my own account when Jian Zhenyang was selling them off."
Jian Corporation's market value exceeded one hundred billion. Sang Shi'an immediately rejected the contract. "I can't just take this for free. Even the shares from Mom should be split between us."
"Why be so polite with your brother? When Mom and Dad divided Shengyu's shares, you were just a little girl. If I had been petty, would you have gotten anything?" Sang Shiyue took out his cigarette case, habitually wanting to grab a cigarette, but held back because of Sang Shi'an.
The difference in shares between the two siblings in Shengyu Corporation was no more than five percentage points. They were the two largest shareholders, a rarity among the second-generation elite.
"Just take it. If Jian Cenyu ever dares to fall for someone else, you can threaten her with the shares." Sang Shiyue looked at Sang Shi'an's increasingly moved eyes, then changed his tone. "As for the money I used to buy the shares, you don't have to pay me back. I'll earn it back from Jian Corporation, with interest."
Sang Shi'an: ...
Sang Shi'an's moved tears instantly retreated. She said drily, "Oh, so that's how it is."
"Yes. That pharmaceutical reform project of Jian Corporation's... they can't handle their portion of it alone. Because of the internal power struggles, their cash flow is very tight. If someone else were to negotiate, they might not get much, but if I send you, Jian Cenyu will definitely agree. We can get at least this much." Sang Shiyue held up his hand to show a number.
Sang Shi'an was suddenly at a loss for words. She wanted to tell Sang Shiyue not to be so greedy, but the Jian Corporation shares in her hand felt like a hot potato, and it was something Jian Cenyu happened to need.
In comparison, the profits Sang Shiyue mentioned seemed like a deliberate attempt to console her, not worth mentioning.
As Sang Shi'an was leaving after signing, Sang Shiyue suddenly stopped her. "Keep this from Jian Cenyu for now."
Sang Shi'an: "Why?"
Why? Of course, it was because he was afraid she was too love-struck and would reveal all her cards.
Sang Shiyue said, "Once the share transfer procedures are complete, not just Jian Cenyu, but all of Jian Corporation's shareholders will know. There's no need to do it now. She's coming to our house in a couple of days, wouldn't that be awkward?"
Sang Shi'an thought that made sense and agreed.
After showering and lying in bed, Sang Shi'an still felt a giddy sense of unreality from the sudden acquisition of Jian Corporation shares.
Adding the shares Wen Yansheng had helped her acquire through an overseas company, it was already a considerable amount.
The calming incense in the room desperately announced its presence, making one feel drowsy. Sang Shi'an couldn't help but turn her head and break the silence first. "Aren't you going to ask what my brother said?"
Jian Cenyu said, "It's not important."
Sang Shi'an felt a sense of dissatisfaction at being ignored. She glanced at the document on Jian Cenyu's phone, hesitating between interrupting and not interrupting.
Jian Cenyu noticed her conflict, turned her head to look at Sang Shi'an, and said, "Just say what's on your mind."
Sang Shi'an: "Then what do you think is important?"
Jian Cenyu was direct. "You're important."
Sang Shi'an processed the two sentences together: What her brother said wasn't important; only she was important.
Her heart suddenly started pounding.
Sang Shi'an slowly slipped under the covers and said in a small voice, "My brother asked me how I could stand you when you're so frigid."
Jian Cenyu's slender eyebrows raised slightly. She put down her phone. "And how did you answer?"
Sang Shi'an: "I said I just like the cold type."
Jian Cenyu stared straight at Sang Shi'an, silently questioning her words.
Sang Shi'an's face grew redder under her gaze. She turned over, her back to Jian Cenyu, and switched off the bedside lamp. "It's late, I'm going to sleep."
The bedroom fell into darkness. The other side of the bed slowly dipped as Jian Cenyu lay down as well.
Sang Shi'an let out a soft sigh. Just as she was about to close her eyes, an arm wrapped tightly around her waist. A warm body pressed against her, and a kiss landed on the sensitive spot on the back of her neck. "Then I'll try to talk less."
The kiss made Sang Shi'an tremble. She bit down hard on the quilt but still couldn't stop a sound from escaping.
Taking advantage of this moment, Sang Shi'an recalled the acquisition results Wen Yansheng had reported to her. As expected of someone with extensive experience at a famous investment bank, in just one month, she had managed to acquire over one point five percent of the shares, hidden from all eyes at Jian Corporation.
Most of them came from the shares sold off by Old Master Jian and Jian Zhenyang, with a considerable amount from individual stocks on the market. The harvest was bountiful.
As Jian Cenyu turned her over and kissed her on the lips, Sang Shi'an asked, "How many shares in Jian Corporation do you have? Including your parents'?"
Jian Cenyu's movements paused. "Fifteen point seven."
Hmm, that's more than the number Jian Corporation has made public.
"What about your two aunts who each hold three percent? What are their positions?"
Jian Cenyu had already understood the intention behind Sang Shi'an's question and said directly, "No need to consider them."
Three percent was a significant number. To not have to consider them meant the two aunts were on opposing sides.
"Your grandfather still has six, Jian Zhenyang's family officially holds nine... the other shareholders..."
The kisses Jian Cenyu placed on her collarbone grew hotter. Sang Shi'an struggled to think, becoming more alarmed the more she thought about it.
"But..."
Jian Cenyu's lips paused by Sang Shi'an's shoulder, her breathing still ragged. "This share structure has maintained a balance for nearly twenty years. Besides, he just lost the shareholders' trust because of the Huaxing stock market situation. You don't need to worry too much, unless..."
Sang Shi'an: "Unless what?"
Jian Cenyu lowered her head and bit Sang Shi'an through her pajamas. "Are you sure you want me to list out every possible unexpected scenario at two in the morning?"
Sang Shi'an let out an uncontrollable, trembling gasp, immediately covering her mouth and forcing her eyes shut.
