ORCBRB – Chapter 45
Chapter 45
Sang Shi'an was ultimately saved by a video call from Su Ningyue.
Worried about Sang Shi'an's state, Su Ningyue had specially called in the middle of the night, prepared to stay up all night with her.
When Sang Shi'an answered the video call, her expression was extremely flustered, and she didn't even dare to look at the camera. If it weren't for wanting to drive Jian Cenyu away, she wouldn't have even picked up. She said, "I'm going to take a shower," and tried to hang up.
"Wait a minute," Su Ningyue stopped Sang Shi'an. "Little Sangsang, did you go on a late-night rendezvous with a lover? Why is your face so red?"
Sang Shi'an walked to the wardrobe where her pajamas were, opened the door, barely blocking some of the light, and said guiltily, "The heating is too high."
Su Ningyue looked at her suspiciously, squinting, then suddenly smiled. "The temperature is too high, so your mouth is chapped too? Something's not right with you, little Sangsang."
Sang Shi'an quickly said, "I think I drank some fake alcohol tonight, my mouth is dry. Why aren't you asleep yet, it's so late?"
Looking like she was enjoying the show, Su Ningyue lay in bed, shaking her head. "Confession brings leniency, so hurry up."
Sang Shi'an glared at her. "Is it not obvious enough that I was bitten? Do I have to spell it out?"
After saying that, she hung up the phone and even turned it off, as if trying to hide something only made it more conspicuous.
Sang Shi'an didn't sleep the entire night. In bed, she replayed what Jian Cenyu had said and done in the cloakroom over and over again, as if two little sprites had appeared by her ears.
The angelic one excitedly told her that Jian Cenyu liked her too and didn't mind that she had pretended to be Kitty in their online relationship. The demonic one berated her with bared fangs, saying Jian Cenyu was just treating her as a substitute for Kitty, which was why she told her to understand and adapt as soon as possible.
The bickering gave Sang Shi'an a terrible headache. A few hours later, as the sky began to pale and the sun rose in the east, Sang Shi'an floated down from the bed like a ghost whose life force had been drained. After washing up and feeling a bit more awake, she walked to the cloakroom, planning to first deal with the pile of clothes that vexed her just by looking at them, and then properly judge what Jian Cenyu really meant.
The clothes filled three large boxes. Sang Shi'an picked up one of them and walked out of the bedroom, wondering whether to throw it directly into the trash or take it to a clothing donation center.
"Why are you up so early?" As Sang Shi'an passed through the living room, a voice called out to her.
Sang Shi'an turned around, holding the box, and met a pair of smiling eyes on the sofa.
Jian Cenyu was just putting down her iPad, the dense text disappearing from the screen. The morning light was hazy and warm, looking like shattered stars as it fell upon her eyes.
Especially when those stars fell upon her, Sang Shi'an shamelessly froze in her tracks. "Um, I was just organizing some things."
Jian Cenyu suddenly moved, walking towards her.
Sang Shi'an instinctively hugged the box tighter. Jian Cenyu stopped in front of her, her long, strong fingers sliding down Sang Shi'an's hair until they reached the nape of her neck, and then she applied a little pressure.
Enveloped in a cool, woody scent, everything began to blur again.
Sang Shi'an's lips were captured. The familiar numbing sensation rose again. Sang Shi'an trembled all over as Jian Cenyu took the box of clothes from her hands and let it fall to the floor.
"Hey… my clothes…"
Worried that the clothes inside would fall out, Sang Shi'an tried to look down, but her chin was held by well-defined fingers. Her chin was lifted, and she was kissed again, her lips feeling warm and moist.
The first time Jian Cenyu had kissed her last night, she had been too stunned to react. This time, Sang Shi'an finally remembered to refuse. She reached out to push Jian Cenyu's shoulder, and just as she was about to apply force, a voice slipped from her lips.
"Morning, An'an."
The gentle voice carried waves of warmth, like wind sweeping across a desert. In that instant, Sang Shi'an's brain felt like it had short-circuited.
It felt like a natural, matter-of-course good morning kiss after waking up.
Sang Shi'an was beginning to suspect that Jian Cenyu had been drinking fake alcohol all night to be this drunk.
But there wasn't the slightest smell of alcohol on Jian Cenyu. The strands of her hair that fell on Sang Shi'an felt cool, as if carrying morning dew, briefly easing the heat in her body.
But only briefly.
As the kiss deepened, Sang Shi'an grew hotter and hotter.
Dizzy from Jian Cenyu's scent and the unbearable heat, Sang Shi'an struggled again, her hands pushing once more. "Jian Cenyu… mmm… you… let go!"
Jian Cenyu completely released her hands, only to drop them to her waist, pulling her in tight again and securing her, making it impossible for her to push away.
Sang Shi'an had drunk too much last night and hadn't slept at all. It wasn't an exaggeration to say she was like a ghost, and she was quickly kissed until she had no strength left.
It was as if she had completely surrendered.
She could only pray that Jian Cenyu would get her fill of kissing soon and return to her usual emotionally distant and cold self.
She shouldn't have admitted to being Kitty last night while mesmerized by the sight of Jian Cenyu undressing. She was the one who had provoked her first, so what else could she do?
Endure it, just endure it.
Sang Shi'an desperately tried to convince herself. The person in front of her was the one she liked. It didn't matter if she was a substitute for a little while. The door was tightly shut; no one would know.
Jian Cenyu sensed Sang Shi'an's softening, and her movements slowed. Her warm, wet tongue gently intertwined with hers. The faint light scattered from her eyelashes, and the morning sun on her face seemed to be tinted with a thin layer of light.
When it finally stopped, Sang Shi'an's lips were soft, and her heart was soft too.
The pile of curses she had accumulated in her mind had all been softened as well.
Without a word, Sang Shi'an pushed Jian Cenyu away and went to the adjacent pantry to pour a glass of water.
Jian Cenyu followed, her gaze still fixed on her. Sang Shi'an's thirst was quenched after half a glass, but because Jian Cenyu was there, she forced herself to drink the remaining half.
Then she realized Jian Cenyu still hadn't left.
Sang Shi'an: ?
Why did she feel like Jian Cenyu was more of a ghost than she, the one who had stayed up all night?
Placing the glass on the table, Sang Shi'an slowly raised her eyes to meet Jian Cenyu's.
Beneath Jian Cenyu's light-colored brows, her lips were an unusual shade of red, and there was even a tiny, glistening trace of moisture on them.
Sang Shi'an's hand tightened as the image of being held and kissed relentlessly flashed in her mind.
"Cough…"
She bit her lip, finding this version of Jian Cenyu exceptionally unfamiliar. "Did you just wake up?"
Could it be that she wasn't fully awake yet?
As if guessing Sang Shi'an's thoughts, Jian Cenyu said, "I'm always very clear-headed in the morning."
"…" Sang Shi'an was stunned for several seconds. Her brain, smart enough to get into Yanjing University, had crashed again. "Then…"
She paused for too long. Jian Cenyu took two steps in her direction, and Sang Shi'an hurriedly held out her hand. "Don't come any closer, I have something to say to you."
She measured the distance between them with her eyes, ensuring Jian Cenyu couldn't just reach out and grab her for a kiss, then emphasized solemnly, "Let's talk like this."
Jian Cenyu stopped, watching her with calm eyes. "What do you want to say?"
Sang Shi'an: "Last night, I'll consider it an impulse on your part. But how could you do this to me again right after waking up?"
Jian Cenyu: "So, if it's not the morning, it's okay?"
Sang Shi'an: …
Jian Cenyu was always reasonable, and besides, even an underage child knew not to kiss people randomly. Sang Shi'an suspected Jian Cenyu was deliberately playing dumb.
So she stated it plainly, "It's not about it not being morning, it's that you shouldn't kiss me. So, you should apologize to me now."
Jian Cenyu's gaze lingered on Sang Shi'an, her brow furrowed as if she couldn't understand her words, but she still complied under Sang Shi'an's stare. "Sorry."
Sang Shi'an waited for what would come next. After a moment, she asked, "That's it?"
Jian Cenyu: "What else do you want to hear?"
Sang Shi'an said irritably, "Of course, a promise that you won't act so recklessly again."
Silence spread between them. After a long while, Jian Cenyu let out a short laugh. "An'an, I don't think I ever agreed to your breakup."
What did she mean she didn't agree?
Did Jian Cenyu really see her and Kitty as the same person?
Sang Shi'an tensed up, about to curse, when her vision suddenly went black from getting too agitated after a sleepless night.
Jian Cenyu noticed Sang Shi'an's suddenly dazed eyes and pale face, and rushed over in two steps to help her sit down. "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
Her vision returned, and Sang Shi'an replied weakly, "Yeah."
Jian Cenyu got up and walked away, returning with a thick down jacket that she tried to put on Sang Shi'an.
Sang Shi'an pushed the jacket away. "What are you doing?"
Jian Cenyu said, "Put this on. I'll take you to a nearby hospital."
"I'm not going," Sang Shi'an refused flatly. "I just didn't sleep all night and have a bit of low blood sugar. I'll be fine after a rest."
"Then you still have the energy to get up and organize things?" Jian Cenyu asked, her voice tinged with severity, yet it seemed she was suppressing her emotions, not being too harsh.
"Those clothes annoy me. Can't I throw them away?" Sang Shi'an slumped onto the table, turning her head away guiltily, leaving Jian Cenyu with a view of the back of her head.
Jian Cenyu's hand holding the jacket tightened. After some thought, she found a bottle of glucose and fed it to Sang Shi'an, then went to the refrigerator to look for ingredients.
Sang Shi'an actually wasn't that weak anymore, but seeing Jian Cenyu's anxious movements, she found it novel. She propped her head on one hand and watched Jian Cenyu bustle about.
Another cup of hot water was placed on the table. The warm liquid flowed through her weak stomach, warming her entire body.
The pantry was connected to the kitchen. Sang Shi'an watched Jian Cenyu's back and tentatively called out, "Jian Cenyu."
Jian Cenyu stopped what she was doing and immediately strode back, her eyes fixed on Sang Shi'an's face as she asked nervously, "What is it? Still dizzy?"
Seeing the unconcealed worry on Jian Cenyu's face, Sang Shi'an's heart stirred, and she deliberately lied, "A little."
Jian Cenyu's brow furrowed. "The household glucose isn't as effective as the hospital's. We should still go to the hospital."
"No, I think I'm just hungry." Sang Shi'an dodged Jian Cenyu's hand with an agility that belied someone with low blood sugar. She cleared her throat and asked, "What are you busy with in the kitchen?"
Jian Cenyu looked down at Sang Shi'an and answered every question. "There's no bread, but the housekeeper bought fresh ingredients yesterday. How about I make you some noodles?"
"If it tastes too bad, I won't open my mouth," Sang Shi'an said, looking up at Jian Cenyu. She lifted her chin haughtily, her attitude slightly arrogant.
Jian Cenyu couldn't help but laugh, reaching out to tickle her chin.
Sang Shi'an almost bristled. "Don't get handsy. Hurry up and make the noodles. I have something to talk to you about later, about us not being in a relationship. Don't think you can fool me again."
Jian Cenyu's eyebrows slowly raised. Just as she was about to speak, Sang Shi'an cut her off bossily, "I have low blood sugar, you're not allowed to bully a patient!"
