ORCBRB – Chapter 18

Chapter 18

Sang Shi'an stared intently at the line of text Jian Cenyu had replied with, her whole body heating up. The skin exposed outside her clothes seemed to flush red from the heat, trembling slightly beneath the exquisite jewelry.

It wasn't until the cat ears she was wearing tilted forward and shifted out of place that Sang Shi'an seemed to regain her senses. She raised her hand again and stiffly pulled off the headband that wasn't in the camera's view.

The cat ears, along with two sparkling yellow gemstone tassels, fell onto the white bedsheets like a mermaid's scattered jewels.

Sang Shi'an's hands were shaking uncontrollably. In that moment, she even had a strange sense of realization: 'This is really Jian Cenyu.'

That's right, hadn't she known for a long time that Jian Cenyu was interested in girls and had a particular fondness for this kind of cat costume?

She had simply catered completely to Jian Cenyu's preferences, and her WeChat profile picture was also a beautiful Ragdoll cat. Even her friend request had clearly stated she was a junior from Yanjing University, so Jian Cenyu wouldn't feel any pressure.

So, it was normal for Jian Cenyu to reply to her.

With a body as beautiful as hers, of course Jian Cenyu would reply.

But right now, she wasn't Sang Shi'an; she was a secret admirer of Jian Cenyu's. Jian Cenyu wouldn't show too much warmth.

Sang Shi'an brainwashed herself over and over again, then re-checked the environment visible in the video. The solid-colored bedsheets and clean walls were no different from a hotel's, leaving no room for error.

But when her gaze fell back on Jian Cenyu's reply, Sang Shi'an was still so scared she could barely hold her phone. She even had the urge to just delete Jian Cenyu and be done with it.

But she couldn't.

Between enduring this one moment and enduring for the next few decades, Sang Shi'an knew how to choose.

Just as Sang Shi'an was about to make a choice, a new message came through on WeChat. It was a voice message. Sang Shi'an tapped on it: "Were you scared?"

The voice was slightly different from Jian Cenyu's usual tone, but it wasn't disguised. Rather, it had shed the patience she usually had for her, becoming colder and more indifferent.

Although it wasn't a professionally trained voice, it gripped the heart more than any voice Sang Shi'an had heard at the anime convention that afternoon.

She was completely in the position of the one being pursued.

The second message was also a voice note: "You're the one who started this, Kitty."

There was even an obvious hint of sternness.

Only then did Sang Shi'an seem to recall what she had said in the video—'Jiejie, I like you so much. I want you to do me senseless every night.'

How could she have dared?

Help me, help me!

Sang Shi'an was suddenly trapped in a predicament she couldn't back out of. She kept rubbing her burning ears and slowly typed, mimicking the tone of the cat-girl from the afternoon: [Seeing that Jiejie accepted my friend request made me so happy. I was so happy I ran a lap on the balcony, that's why I couldn't reply right away. Jiejie, please don't be angry, okay?]

Jian Cenyu: [Mm]

Seeing that "Mm," Sang Shi'an worried that Jian Cenyu was getting impatient. She sent another text: [Pulling up my clothes isn't a good idea. I heard WeChat has moderators who ban accounts recently. How about I show Jiejie something else? My legs are super pretty too.]

After sending it, Sang Shi'an quickly struck a new pose. She bent her knees and held them together, with one arm wrapped around them. The height of her knees perfectly concealed her chest. Her long, straight legs were entwined with countless decorative gold gemstone chains, and the marks indented into her thighs were even redder. Her tense, rounded toes, in particular, revealed her nervousness and unease.

She took a photo and attached a message: [Would Jiejie like it if it's like this?]

This time, the other side was silent for a long while before replying: [I don't like dishonest children.]

The sense of pressure that had been there from the beginning intensified.

Sang Shi'an almost thought Jian Cenyu was about to recognize her. Fortunately, she treated every message from Jian Cenyu like an advanced math problem, mulling it over several times. She finally figured out what Jian Cenyu meant: [Does Jiejie think I'm a boy, cross-dressing to trick people?]

On Jian Cenyu's end, the status showed 'typing...' but no message was sent, which was clearly a tacit agreement.

Sang Shi'an thought to herself that she had indeed mistaken several boys in cosplay for girls that afternoon. She hadn't expected Jian Cenyu to know so much about it.

Sang Shi'an: [So as long as I can prove I'm a girl, Jiejie will be willing to keep me and not delete me?]

Jian Cenyu: [Yes]

Sang Shi'an: [Jiejie, you're so nice, not at all like the rumors say.]

Jian Cenyu: [Thanking me?]

Sang Shi'an thought to herself that her 'thank you' wasn't for nothing, so her next message was: [I've liked Jiejie for a long time. Before I gathered the courage to confess to you, I was always worried you would hate me because of my feelings.]

She didn't specify whether it was because she was being confessed to by a girl or because of the seductive video.

If Jian Cenyu had no interest in girls, she would have refuted it by now. But instead, Jian Cenyu replied with: [I don't hate it. You're very passionate.]

So Jian Cenyu really was planning to deceive her brother? When she ruined the marriage alliance in the future, Jian Cenyu couldn't blame her.

To avoid revealing herself through a shaky camera, Sang Shi'an first put on a disposable mask, then sent a video call invitation.

Jian Cenyu didn't answer immediately. She apologized to Wen Yansheng, who was dining with her, then rose with her lips pressed tightly together and went to the private room's restroom, closing and locking the door.

The moment she answered, the warm yellow light overhead flickered. She turned off her camera, and the entire video screen showed only the magnificent, fragmented-gold cat demon costume on Sang Shi'an.

On the spacious bed, the soft nine tails fanned out behind Sang Shi'an. A hand with gold-foiled nails slowly unhooked a decorative chain at her neck.

With a soft clatter, the necklace fell, striking a gemstone chain on her waist or leg. The culprit, however, let out a clueless "oops" and apologized profusely to her, "I'm sorry, Jiejie. I'm not very familiar with this outfit, I untied the wrong one."

If it were anyone else doing this, Jian Cenyu would have thought it was a deliberate seduction. But the person on the other end of the screen was Sang Shi'an, whose hands had been trembling nonstop since the video call began.

She didn't know anything, yet she was clumsily trying to learn how to seduce her.

Jian Cenyu closed her eyes. A light film of moisture seeped from the side of her neck, slowly soothing her tense nerves, suppressing everything beneath a calm surface.

She said, "No rush."

Sang Shi'an finally found the right sash.

The complex cosplay outfit wasn't like everyday clothes that could be put on with a few zippers. Every inch of fabric clung tightly, and there were so many sashes they were indistinguishable from the decorative chains.

As the sash was slowly pulled away, brushing past her fair, jade-like neck, the person in the video's collarbones could be seen trembling nervously several times.

Jian Cenyu let out a low laugh.

Her laugh made Sang Shi'an even more nervous. Her tensed collarbones repeatedly relaxed and contracted, and her delicate, soft-jade-like skin was slowly revealed.

An inch.

And another inch.

When it was halfway down, it was already obvious that she had female features. But since Jian Cenyu didn't say stop, Sang Shi'an continued downwards.

Sang Shi'an's movements grew slower and slower, like a long tug-of-war.

A drop of hot sweat slid from the corner of Sang Shi'an's eye.

In the suffocating silence and pressure, Jian Cenyu finally spoke: "That's enough."

Her voice was tight. "I believe you now, Kitty."

Having received permission, Sang Shi'an quickly ended the video call and collapsed onto the bed as if drained of all strength.

Jian Cenyu turned on the faucet, set it to cold, and let the water rush over her heated palms.

After a long while, when she looked up, the turbulence deep in her eyes had subsided. Her water-beaded fingers brushed back a stray lock of long hair, tucking it behind her ear again. Not a single crease was left on her clean shirt.

She pushed the door open again.

A waiter brushed past her, a small receipt on the tray.

Wen Yansheng had paid the bill.

Jian Cenyu walked back and sat down in front of Wen Yansheng. "I just took a call. Sorry to keep you waiting, Senior."

"You do your thing. Why be so polite with me?"

Wen Yansheng sipped her soup leisurely. Ever since Jian Cenyu had known her, she had always been like this, seemingly able to handle anything with ease.

"Since Senior says so, I won't be polite." Jian Cenyu took a napkin to wipe her hands and asked, "Did you give up on the schools here in Yancheng and choose to go back to Yuncheng because you found the person you were looking for?"

Wen Yansheng owned a bar in the UK. The lively atmosphere there was a stark contrast to Wen Yansheng's usual demeanor. The first time Jian Cenyu went, she found it hard to associate Wen Yansheng with that bar.

It was only later that she learned Wen Yansheng had met a girl at this bar during the lowest point of her life. What followed was a fruitless wait, until today.

"No." Wen Yansheng could already face this outcome with composure, her expression betraying nothing. "I chose to return to Yuncheng because my home is in Yuncheng."

Jian Cenyu raised her wine glass in a gesture. "Then I wish you all the best, Senior."

Wen Yansheng took a sip of red wine but didn't put the glass down immediately. The dark red liquid shimmered brightly in the tilted glass.

"You, on the other hand, have been absent-minded during our meal, going to the restroom several times. Are you not feeling well?"

"No, it's a company matter," Jian Cenyu said.

Wen Yansheng studied her for a moment, then chuckled softly. "That girl with your junior earlier seemed to be from the anime convention, right? It's not easy to get someone to come outside the exhibition hall. Your junior was much more lively with her than last time."

When Jian Cenyu got out of the car to find Sang Shi'an, Wen Yansheng was in the car and saw the whole thing.

Seeing Jian Cenyu's brow furrow, Wen Yansheng finally set down her glass. Her hands rested naturally on the table, revealing a delicate bracelet. "In the end, you couldn't hold back."

Jian Cenyu knew she had been seen through, so she didn't hide it.

"Actually, when I returned to the country, I just thought of her as a younger sister I hadn't seen in years. But after seeing her again and having a meal at her house..." She lowered her eyes, looking at the beautifully sliced leopard coral grouper on her plate, and smiled helplessly. "When I went back that night, I didn't sleep at all."

So the next day, when Sang Shi'an's mother called to ask if she wanted to move in with Sang Shi'an, she wavered.

Sang Shi'an didn't need to do anything. Just by standing there, she made people want to get closer, effortlessly awakening feelings that had never stirred during her time abroad.

In one's youth, who isn't self-centered? Yet, she had been able to spare the attention to tutor someone else amidst the intense pressure of high school.

Back then, the only one who could be her little sister was Sang Shi'an.

Now, the only one who could make her have other thoughts was also Sang Shi'an.

She had also drawn many boundaries for Sang Shi'an.

To make Sang Shi'an distance herself from her.

Until today, when Sang Shi'an used a side account to add her private WeChat.

Even the number registered with Professor Xu wasn't this one.

Wen Yansheng was three years older than Jian Cenyu. Seeing Jian Cenyu like this, she couldn't help but feel a bit of affection for her.

"Since you've thought it through, as a friend, I naturally won't object. But what will you do next? She doesn't seem like the type to date girls. And the last time we ran into her, she was being confessed to by a boy. I don't think that's a rare occurrence, is it?"

Jian Cenyu didn't speak.

Wen Yansheng continued, "You two live together anyway. You can try to sound her out during casual chats."

"For example, is she completely against the idea of being with a girl?"

Perhaps because Wen Yansheng was heading south tomorrow, the slightly tipsy atmosphere gave Jian Cenyu a rare desire to confide.

Her fair, slender fingers pressed down on a napkin. Her features were cool and ascetic, her thin lips slightly red. "She registered a side account today and wants to have an online romance with me."

Wen Yansheng's eyes widened in surprise. "She wants an online romance with you? How is that possible?"

Shouldn't it be Jian Cenyu who couldn't hold back and approached the other party?

Jian Cenyu said nothing.

She also felt that the new account in her contact list was like a dream.

Wen Yansheng said, "Do you want to hear my opinion?"

Jian Cenyu looked at her.

"The fact that she's seeking an online romance with you shows that she's not against same-sex relationships. Of course, it could also be a childish prank. But since she came to you, you can't be too obvious about your intentions, or you'll scare her away."

"What if her intentions were very strong from the start?"

Wen Yansheng frowned. "Strong in what way? Did she confess to you directly?"

Jian Cenyu fell silent again.

She couldn't show the chat history to Wen Yansheng.

It involved Sang Shi'an's privacy.

And she would never allow a third person to see it.

"Even more excessive than that." Jian Cenyu frowned. "Senior, you don't need to ask so clearly."

Wen Yansheng didn't expect to get the cold shoulder for asking more questions.

She could see it now.

So many passionate and uninhibited people abroad couldn't catch her junior's eye.

How could it be because Jian Cenyu liked passionate and proactive people?

Jian Cenyu looked cool, ascetic, and otherworldly, but three months after returning to the country, she had set her sights on the girl next door.

Truly impressive.

The next day was Monday. The 8 a.m. class made everyone drowsy. At this time, the number of posts on the school forum would reach a small peak for the new week.

Someone's graduation thesis plant in the College of Agriculture got trampled, a professor in the business school bought a new luxury car, a student from some college cheated and had coffee thrown at them—the stories were endless.

The shipping post about Sang Shi'an and Jian Cenyu living together had already been pushed down, only getting bumped up occasionally.

On Monday morning, Sang Shi'an's class still had Economic Law and Tax Law. Su Ningyue slept through almost all of Economic Law. It wasn't until the break in the middle of the second class, Tax Law, that she could barely open her eyes to check on Sang Shi'an.

Sang Shi'an was watching a gardener trim the bushes outside the window. The gardener's movements were clumsy, and his face was unfamiliar. He went back and forth, but the bushes were always uneven. Sang Shi'an opened the window to give him a couple of pointers, but the gardener's trimming ended up looking even more like it had been chewed by a dog.

Sang Shi'an suppressed a laugh, silently closed the window, and turned around.

Seeing that she was finally free, Su Ningyue pulled her over for a quiet chat. "Did you manage to do that thing you were planning yesterday?"

Sang Shi'an wanted to curse just thinking about last night's experience.

After hanging up on Jian Cenyu, it took her another half an hour to take off that outfit. The leg garter clips had chafed the skin on her inner thighs, which were still red.

She even worried, was the 'special fetish' Jian Cenyu mentioned at the beginning really just about strange costumes as she had guessed?

What if there was something else...

Would she survive?

She had to confirm their relationship and get concrete evidence before Jian Cenyu could make any requests, to stop the marriage alliance between Jian Cenyu and her brother.

Sang Shi'an certainly wouldn't broadcast the great sacrifice she made by sending that video; she had her pride. "I added her. She's very interested, but I haven't talked to her today. Anything else you want to ask?"

"It went that smoothly? Are you sure she didn't recognize you? Quick, let me see your chat history." Su Ningyue didn't believe it at all and urged Sang Shi'an to show her.

Sang Shi'an steeled herself and directly showed Su Ningyue the video of her in the cat demon costume.

After just the first few seconds, Su Ningyue let out an exaggerated shriek. "Sang Shi'an, you—mmph!"

They were still in the classroom. Sang Shi'an immediately covered her mouth. Su Ningyue sent her a message on WeChat: [You had something this good and you're only showing me now?]

Sang Shi'an glanced at the back row and, seeing that no one was paying attention to them, lowered her voice. "I just filmed it last night. There shouldn't be any flaws, right? I checked it over and over."

"But didn't Senior Jian run into you at the entrance of the anime convention yesterday? Could she have guessed it was you?" Su Ningyue was still cautious.

Sang Shi'an wasn't worried about that. "Go search the forum. See how many people from our school went to the convention yesterday. One of our seniors was even outed as a cosplayer there. Didn't you suggest I find a teacher to seduce Jian Cenyu before?"

Su Ningyue nodded, thinking it made sense.

"I told you there were no flaws. You believe me now, right?" Sang Shi'an was very satisfied with her own caution.

"Satisfied, satisfied. It's just..." There were three minutes left before class. Su Ningyue slowly sidled over, meeting Sang Shi'an's questioning gaze, and rubbed her hands together. "An'an, can you let me admire that video of yours again?"

Since it was already filmed, it would be a waste to let only Senior Jian have it for her private collection.

Good things should be shared with everyone.

Sang Shi'an let out two "heh heh"s and placed her phone face down. "Don't bother me, I need to prepare for class."

For the rest of the day, Sang Shi'an was immersed in the ocean of knowledge, not sparing an ounce of energy for anything else. She even went straight to the library after lunch to avoid being pestered by Su Ningyue's questions.

But in the library, she ran into Jian Cenyu.

Jian Cenyu was still holding books related to chemistry. She didn't look like a finance student at all, completely uninvested.

Seeing this reminded Sang Shi'an of the time she asked Jian Cenyu why she came to Yanjing University for a second master's degree. But in the end, it had nothing to do with her if Jian Cenyu couldn't graduate. If she wanted to read chemistry, so be it. Sang Shi'an no longer wanted to guess what was on Jian Cenyu's mind. It was enough to successfully trick Jian Cenyu into an online romance.

Sang Shi'an deliberately avoided the floor Jian Cenyu was on, found a seat by a window on the fourth floor, and casually took a picture of the library to fill her side account's Moments.

Actually, when Su Ningyue asked if she had succeeded, Sang Shi'an felt a little guilty. After Jian Cenyu said she believed her last night, she had immediately hung up the video call, which didn't seem like the attitude of a pursuer.

Jian Cenyu hadn't sent her any messages since. Could she be displeased with her?

Sang Shi'an spent the next few days wrestling with this thought. Even when she saw Jian Cenyu at home, her gaze couldn't help but carry a hint of grievance.

Fortunately, Jian Cenyu didn't overthink it, just assuming she was in a bad mood and throwing a little tantrum again.

As the days passed, Sang Shi'an saw that the longer she dragged it out, the lower her chances of succeeding in the online romance with Jian Cenyu became. So, after three days, she logged back into the Kitty account.

Only to find three little red dots on her Moments.

This account only had one friend. She opened it, and sure enough, it was a 'like' from Jian Cenyu.

She had liked every one of the posts Sang Shi'an had made from Sunday to Monday to prove she was a Yanjing University student, including one she had specifically gone to the art school to take.

Sang Shi'an's heart began to race.

Was it really this easy to get Jian Cenyu hooked?

She tapped on Jian Cenyu's profile picture and started her performance: [I saw Jiejie visited my Moments. Jiejie isn't angry with me?]

[I thought Jiejie wasn't satisfied with me that day. I cried secretly for a long time, my eye makeup was all ruined, I was so sad.]

[I didn't dare to message Jiejie either, afraid I'd get the red exclamation mark notification that Jiejie had deleted me.]

It took nearly two minutes for Jian Cenyu to reply: [Why would I be angry?]

Sang Shi'an: [After the video call that day, Jiejie didn't say again that you'd let me stay. Everyone at school says Jiejie doesn't like people who talk too much. I feel like I did a terrible job, and I was afraid Jiejie would find me annoying and get angry.]

Jian Cenyu: [But I never said I was rejecting you.]

Sang Shi'an: ?

[So Jiejie means I can stay in your contact list from now on, and I can chat with you?]

This time, Sang Shi'an waited for a very, very long time. A full ten minutes passed, and Jian Cenyu still hadn't replied.

Just then, there was a knock on her door.

"An'an."

Sang Shi'an looked up and saw Jian Cenyu with her hair in a low ponytail, her whole demeanor softened by the warm light. She was holding a plate of cut fruit and standing at her bedroom door.

Sang Shi'an had some trouble switching gears and mumbled, "Huh?"

Jian Cenyu gestured with the fruit plate and said lightly, "It's nothing. This is the fruit your mother had someone send over today. I cut some for you."

Her parents were going abroad for vacation this week, so they must have come to check on her before leaving. Sang Shi'an said "oh" and walked over. "Thanks. I'll cut it next time."

Jian Cenyu neither agreed nor disagreed and turned to leave her room.

At the same time, the long-awaited message came through: [You can.]

It wasn't a cold "Mm." Sang Shi'an suddenly felt an urge to dive into her quilt and roll around. But as she took a step, she came to her senses, feeling that her reaction was a bit strange.

So she sat back down and started eating the cut fruit.

The honeydew melon was quite sweet tonight, and the cherries were especially crisp.

Even when she went to sleep that night, she felt exceptionally at ease.

On Saturday morning, Sang Shi'an attended an outdoor team-building event organized by the Youth League Committee for the freshmen.

They chose a spot for camping and barbecue. The first-year students were truly full of energy, chattering nonstop.

After they had eaten their fill, someone suggested playing a game. The moment Sang Shi'an heard "play a game," her temples started throbbing. She refused outright, "I'm not playing Truth or Dare. You guys just ask the same few questions over and over, and you don't believe the answers anyway. It's boring."

"Don't be so stingy, Senior Sang. We'll let you not tell the truth. You can just make up stories for us," a few junior girls pleaded, sitting around her pitifully.

"Just say a few words, please."

Sang Shi'an didn't indulge them, tapping each of them on the head. "What if you block my romantic prospects?"

"Hey, hey, hey, how about we change the game? This person next to Senior Sang is a little fortune-teller. Let her read your romantic fortune, it's guaranteed to be accurate!"

Another girl was pushed in front of Sang Shi'an.

Sang Shi'an tried to refuse, "Our Youth League Committee follows the Party. We don't engage in feudal superstitions."

The girl continued her sales pitch, "Xu Xiaoxiao is really accurate, you should try it. Especially when it comes to romantic fortunes, she was famously accurate during military training!"

Sang Shi'an thought to herself that no one was worthy of her, so what kind of romantic fortune could she have?

Well, she might as well listen to how the little junior would spin her tale.

"Alright, Junior Xiaoxiao, is it? Help your senior out."

Xu Xiaoxiao took out a deck of playing cards and started shuffling them in front of Sang Shi'an. Sang Shi'an quickly interrupted her, "Did you bring the wrong cards? Don't people use tarot cards for fortune-telling?"

Xu Xiaoxiao shook her head. "That's their foreign method. If Senior doesn't like playing cards, I can go pick a few leaves."

Sang Shi'an: ...Even more ridiculous.

Fine, it was just for fun to humor the junior. It didn't matter what she used.

Sang Shi'an watched as the junior shuffled the cards while muttering some inaudible words, looking quite serious, as if she were chanting a spell.

After finishing the chant, she casually tossed the cards into the air. A gust of wind blew by at that exact moment, and dozens of cards flew into Sang Shi'an's lap.

Under Sang Shi'an's skeptical gaze, Xu Xiaoxiao picked up the top card. Without showing Sang Shi'an what it was, she compared the pattern on the card with Sang Shi'an's facial features for a full three minutes before saying solemnly, "Senior Sang, your true love has already crossed paths with you."

Sang Shi'an went through all the men she knew and couldn't find a single one. "I don't think you're very accurate."

Xu Xiaoxiao had a profound expression. "Of course it's true. Your star of romance is rising, and your love luck is here. The card that just came up was the Two of Hearts. It's definitely not a bad romance. Senior, you must think back carefully and not miss this fated connection."

Sang Shi'an's tone was faint. "Could it be that you guys are trying to get information out of me, so you made up a romance?"

Xu Xiaoxiao quickly waved her hands. "Senior, this is really your true love. You have to believe me. If you don't believe me, you can go find a master fortune-teller outside. No matter who it is, this is really your true love!"

Seeing the junior getting anxious, Sang Shi'an nodded with a smile. "Alright, alright, I believe you. I'll pay attention recently."

But the reading was really inaccurate.

Sang Shi'an was worn out by this group for the entire day. By the time she got back, it was already nine at night.

Jian Cenyu was in the living room study, using her computer with several documents spread out in front of her. When their eyes met, Sang Shi'an gave a nod and coolly returned to her room.

Then she began her daily performance: [I went out with friends today and bought a lot of pretty little dresses. Besides cats, what else does Jiejie like? I can wear it for you, okay?]

[I didn't chat with Jiejie today, and Jiejie still didn't contact me. Crying.]

[It's Saturday today, so I can't see Jiejie at school. If I still don't get a message from Jiejie, I won't be able to sleep tonight.]

[Looks like Jiejie is busy? I didn't even eat enough at the team-building event with the juniors today. I'm going to have a late-night snack first and then wait for Jiejie. I have some good news to share with you.]

Jian Cenyu had gone to her family's company as usual today. As soon as she arrived, she learned that her cousin had botched a deal. The cause was that her cousin was a bit tight on cash recently and urgently needed money. Coincidentally, the company had signed an order that required a higher specification of medicine.

He made a calculation on his own, misappropriated that batch of medicine to sell elsewhere, and then bought another type of medicine from the warehouse under his wife's name—one with similar ingredients but a much lower purity—to supply to the partner.

Both medicines were liquid injections and looked identical from the outside. However, one of the patients had an allergic reaction due to the drug's contraindications. The hospital conducted repeated screenings and eventually traced the problem back to the drug supplier.

The matter was now resolved, but Jian Cenyu still pulled up all the company's shipping orders from the past two months, planning to work through the night to check for any similar oversights.

After reading the messages Sang Shi'an sent from her side account, a message from Jian Zhiyan popped up. Worried that something else had happened at Jian Corporation, Jian Cenyu decided to deal with Jian Zhiyan's message first.

Jian Zhiyan sent several messages in a row:

[As long as the matter is resolved. If the old man wasn't protecting him, he would have had to spend some time in jail for something like this.]

[I heard your parents have already taken you to meet Sang Shiyue? I've seen him in the news a few times. He's indeed good-looking, but I don't know what his character is like in private.]

[If he's decent, you should consider it. Use the Sang family's influence to seize all the power at once, so you don't have to be harassed by those parasites every now and then.]

Jian Cenyu didn't want to reply about Sang Shiyue. Firstly, they had only met to discuss company cooperation. Secondly...

Jian Cenyu glanced in the direction of Sang Shi'an's room, her lips tightening slightly.

Secondly, when Sang Shi'an had naively and innocently added her on WeChat to show her affection, she knew that all the boundaries she had previously set for Sang Shi'an had completely crumbled.

Those weren't just boundaries she set for Sang Shi'an; they were boundaries she had set for herself.

She hadn't wanted to scare her treasure.

But...

Even if this was just a whim of Sang Shi'an's.

Or a malicious deception.

She didn't want to sever ties with Sang Shiyue so quickly.
