After Escaping Marriage - Chapter 138
Chapter 138
Facing Yu Qingtang's enthusiastic invitation, Cheng Zhanxi naturally couldn't refuse.
She picked Yu Qingtang up horizontally, walked into the bedroom, closed the door with her foot, placed her on the bed, and then covered her.
The air went from warming up to igniting in just a second.
Yu Qingtang tugged at the buttons of Cheng Zhanxi's clothes. Cheng Zhanxi, while cooperating, inhaled and said, "Slow down, baby."
Yu Qingtang didn't know if it was because she was getting more flustered the more anxious she became, or what, but she couldn't undo a single button for a long time. Faced with Cheng Zhanxi's expression of barely suppressed laughter, Yu Qingtang's hand loosened, and she tilted her chin up, saying, "You do it yourself."
Cheng Zhanxi's lips curved into a smile.
Never mind whether Yu Qingtang's skills had improved much; it was true that she was becoming more and more of a queen in bed. Whether she was on top or bottom, her aura was never lacking, especially when she pressed down on Cheng Zhanxi's head to make her serve her, her expression was so dominant it made Cheng Zhanxi's legs go weak.
Cheng Zhanxi obediently removed their excess encumbrances and pressed down on her again.
The two hadn't seen each other for over half a month. Yu Qingtang's initiative was even greater than before. Soon, she was trembling in Cheng Zhanxi's arms. Cheng Zhanxi sealed her lips, swallowing all her indistinct whimpers.
From a fierce storm to a gentle, continuous rain; from thunder and lightning to a calm and sunny day.
Cheng Zhanxi held the exhausted Yu Qingtang, letting her lean sideways in her embrace, one hand stroking the long hair on her back.
Yu Qingtang was still in the afterglow. She grabbed Cheng Zhanxi's hand, not letting it move, curled up, and let out a kitten-like whimper.
Cheng Zhanxi suppressed the surging passion, waited for Yu Qingtang's breathing to even out, and then proceeded to the next round.
"Do you have evening self-study tonight?" Cheng Zhanxi asked gently in a pause between kisses.
"I... swapped with... other teachers..." Yu Qingtang's voice was intermittent and fragmented.
"Good girl." Cheng Zhanxi's fingertips brushed aside the sweat-dampened long hair on her neck and buried her head there.
Finally, because they were hungry, the two had to get out of bed.
Yu Qingtang, her flush not yet faded, said, "I'll go make food."
Cheng Zhanxi took off her hair tie, retied her long hair, and said, "Let me do it. You rest well."
Yu Qingtang was indeed exhausted and obediently lay down to rest.
Cheng Zhanxi went out and, after a short while, returned with a box, placed it on the bedside table, opened it to reveal a thin silver chain, and said, "A gift I brought for you."
At first, Yu Qingtang thought it was a bracelet. It was only when she felt a cool sensation on her ankle that she realized it was an anklet.
She moved her calf, and the silver bells chimed with a clear sound.
Cheng Zhanxi caressed her ankle, pulled up the corner of the quilt, and tucked her feet under the covers.
Yu Qingtang blinked.
The refrigerator was fully stocked with ingredients. Cheng Zhanxi made two bowls of seafood noodles and carried Yu Qingtang up to eat. Yu Qingtang had rested enough and could walk on her own, but she still preferred Cheng Zhanxi to carry her. For the more than half a month Cheng Zhanxi was away, she hadn't even slept well, thinking of Cheng Zhanxi's embrace whether her eyes were open or closed.
Since Cheng Zhanxi had just returned, wherever Cheng Zhanxi went, Yu Qingtang would stick to her. She even proactively followed her into the shower, getting water all over the floor.
Yu Qingtang felt a bit overwhelmed, but when she was close to Cheng Zhanxi, she couldn't help but want no distance between them, to be desperately entangled.
After this time, it took Yu Qingtang three days to recover, and she couldn't muster any enthusiasm in the meantime.
Song Qingrou called from the Capital City, asking when the two of them would return.
The engagement was set for early November. It was already late October, and each autumn rain brought more chill. Before going out, Cheng Zhanxi helped Yu Qingtang put on a trench coat and asked, "Have you requested your leave?"
Yu Qingtang said, "Yes, I have. We can go this weekend."
Cheng Zhanxi walked her to the entrance, straightened her collar for her, and gently reminded, "Be careful."
"I know." Yu Qingtang tilted her head up and lightly pressed a kiss on her lips.
Cheng Zhanxi watched Yu Qingtang enter the elevator, stood quietly for a while longer, then closed the main door with a smile playing on her lips, and began to think about what to cook for lunch.
On the weekend, Cheng Zhanxi and Yu Qingtang first went to pick up Grandfather and Fang Wenjiao, and the four of them traveled to the Capital City together.
The Wei family members would all attend the engagement banquet, but only these two could truly be considered Yu Qingtang's relatives.
Song Qingrou personally picked them up from the airport, settled the two elders comfortably, and they all had dinner together in the evening, showing them great importance. Fang Wenjiao observed the Cheng family's thoughtful and meticulous way of treating people. She secretly pulled Yu Qingtang aside, patted the back of her hand, her heart filled with unstoppable relief and satisfaction.
To see Yu Qingtang find a good home before she passed away, she had no more regrets.
Cheng Zhanxi and Yu Qingtang returned to the villa on Xiaoqi Mountain.
While Cheng Zhanxi was showering in the bathroom, Yu Qingtang took the small velvet box from her bag, put it away in the study, and locked the drawer.
She sighed softly.
Inside the box was the custom-made diamond ring that had arrived later; it had been in her possession for over two months. She wasn't as multi-talented as Cheng Zhanxi, and since they both already wore diamond rings, she really couldn't think of a good opportunity to give this ring. After the engagement banquet in a couple of days, they would switch to engagement rings, and this diamond ring would be even more useless.
If it really came down to the last moment, Yu Qingtang decided she would give it to her the night before as a regular piece of jewelry, letting her wear this new one.
It cost over a hundred thousand, and it hadn't been worn even once.
Yu Qingtang thought with a pang of regret.
"Tangtang."
Cheng Zhanxi's voice came from outside; she should be done with her shower.
Yu Qingtang straightened up and replied, "Coming."
She met Cheng Zhanxi, who had come looking for her, right at the study door. Cheng Zhanxi peeked inside and casually asked, "Are you reading?"
Yu Qingtang said without changing her expression, "Just flipping through."
Cheng Zhanxi, unsuspecting, took her hand and led her back to the bedroom.
Their engagement banquet was grand, largely a show for others. Song Qingrou and Cheng Yi supervised the entire process. Cheng Zhanxi and Yu Qingtang merely glanced over it, looking at the long guest list, which, as expected, largely overlapped with the attendees of Lao Tian's birthday banquet.
Yu Qingtang, like an empress dowager making a visit, returned to the Wei family residence once more.
Wei Zhiling, having been disciplined by her father and brother, had completely lost her arrogance in front of Yu Qingtang, almost bowing and scraping, acting subservient. But behind her back, she still spoke ill of Yu Qingtang with Wei Minglan. Wei Minglan merely agreed, no longer joining her in cursing. With the old master hospitalized and the Wei family in turmoil, she knew to keep a low profile at this critical juncture and not cause trouble. Even though she was just an even less valued daughter from the already less valued fourth branch, any normal person understood the principle that trouble comes from an unguarded mouth.
Wei Jingfeng and Wei Jinglan were staying at the company but took time out of their busy schedules to send engagement gifts to Yu Qingtang.
Yu Qingtang was quite surprised to receive the gifts, because gifts were usually sent either to the Cheng family or to the Seventh Miss Wei. Even if the invitation card said Yu Qingtang, people in the Capital City habitually referred to her by the Wei family name. The Wei family was a prominent family; what did the Yu family count for?
These two gifts were specifically addressed to Yu Qingtang, and Song Qingrou had passed them on to her in advance.
Wei Jinglan sent a peace talisman obtained from a temple, wrapped in an exquisite brocade pouch embroidered with mandarin ducks playing in water, sealed with a red string.
...Incongruous yet somewhat interesting.
A very faint smile appeared in Yu Qingtang's eyes. She put the brocade pouch aside and opened the other gift.
Wei Jingfeng sent a pair of Q-version figurines. It was hard to say if they resembled them in form, but they definitely captured their spirit.
Cheng Zhanxi picked up the two gifts and said, "This brother and sister pair are quite thoughtful."
As for whether it was sincere or feigned, time would tell.
Wei Zhiling also sent a gift. Song Qingrou asked Yu Qingtang, but Yu Qingtang didn't want to accept it, so Song Qingrou kept it. Besides being protective of her own, Song Qingrou also held grudges; even if Yu Qingtang forgot, she never would.
Wei Zhiling sent an expensive necklace. Song Qingrou immediately had Aunt Yun's daughter list it on a second-hand trading website; it wasn't even worthy of collecting dust in the Cheng family's storeroom.
Three days before the engagement, Cheng Zhanxi's friends organized a gathering and asked Cheng Zhanxi to bring Yu Qingtang.
This wasn't an ordinary gathering; it was a "pink" gathering. One of Cheng Zhanxi's friends was going to propose to another friend. When Cheng Zhanxi heard this news, she was so surprised she couldn't speak for a long time.
Cheng Zhanxi privately messaged the friend who was planning to propose.
[Cheng Zhanxi]: What's going on? When did you two get together? How come I didn't hear anything about it?
It wasn't that Cheng Zhanxi didn't care about her friends, but this group of people had known each other since their fathers' or even grandfathers' generations. They grew up together since childhood. If they were to hit it off, it would have happened when they were seventeen or eighteen and hormones were raging. Now they were twenty-seven or twenty-eight; had an old tree sprouted new shoots, and sparks of love ignited again?
[Friend]: Some time ago, I woke up and suddenly realized I had feelings for Friend 2.
[Cheng Zhanxi]: You're proposing just like that? Aren't you afraid you'll wake up one day and not feel anything for her anymore? How would you deal with it then? You wouldn't even be able to be friends.
[Friend]: We're already together. Even if I don't propose, we wouldn't be able to go back to being friends after a breakup.
[Cheng Zhanxi]: Alright, as long as you've thought it through.
Cheng Zhanxi locked her phone and told Yu Qingtang about her two childhood friends getting together. She also felt that Friend 1's proposal was too impulsive, vaguely sensing that she might not be able to see both of them in the same place in the future.
Yu Qingtang sat on the sofa, holding a book with both hands. While listening to Cheng Zhanxi speak, her gaze remained on the book. She said, "Then will you still help set up the proposal scene?"
Cheng Zhanxi said, "Of course, I'll help. Anyway, I'm not the only one going. If anything goes wrong, they can't blame it all on me." She asked, "Do you want to go with me?"
"Okay, I've never helped someone propose before," Yu Qingtang said, then slowly raised her head and smiled at her.
Cheng Zhanxi bit into the apple in her hand, her brow furrowing almost imperceptibly. A strange feeling arose in her heart, but she didn't know why.
She looked at Yu Qingtang, who was turning a page in her book, her expression serene and beautiful.
Two days before the engagement.
Cheng Zhanxi and Yu Qingtang went to the restaurant Friend 1 had booked. Except for the other protagonist, Friend 2, everyone else had arrived one after another and began decorating the restaurant in full swing.
Those buying flowers bought flowers, those blowing balloons blew balloons, those getting champagne got champagne, those playing the piano played the piano. They even prepared handheld confetti cannons, waiting for the couple to successfully join hands, then shower them with streamers.
In the evening, all the friends involved in preparing the surprise hid in various corners of the restaurant.
Through the glass door of the restaurant, Cheng Zhanxi saw Friend 1 leading Friend 2 in by the hand. When Friend 2 saw the restaurant's decorations, she gradually understood something. She covered her mouth with her hand. Because her back was to Cheng Zhanxi, Cheng Zhanxi couldn't see her expression, but seeing her shoulders shake, she must have been moved to tears.
Cheng Zhanxi thought: Friend 2 isn't usually like this. Indeed, people in love change the most.
Only Friend 1, standing in front of Friend 2, saw that the woman opposite her was struggling to hold back laughter, her shoulders shaking from it.
Friend 1 whispered, "Be serious, we're acting."
Friend 2 nodded repeatedly.
Cheng Zhanxi saw Friend 1's hand reach into her trench coat pocket. What she didn't notice was that Yu Qingtang beside her also put her hand into her trench coat pocket.
At the same time, two friends hiding under the table opposite Cheng Zhanxi stood up, holding confetti cannons.
Cheng Zhanxi quickly whispered to stop them, "She hasn't taken out the ring yet." She thought they had misjudged the timing because their view was obstructed.
The two friends ignored her.
Not only them, but all the friends in the restaurant came out from their hiding places and formed an array.
They didn't surround Friend 1 and Friend 2, who should have been the protagonists, but slowly walked towards Cheng Zhanxi.
Friend 1 didn't take out a ring either, and Friend 2 was all smiles, with no trace of having cried.
Cheng Zhanxi gradually guessed something. Her movements were slow, as if a camera was slowing down frame by frame. She turned her head to look at Yu Qingtang and her eyes widened abruptly.
Yu Qingtang was kneeling on one knee in front of her, holding a diamond ring in her hand.
Those occasional strange feelings in her heart, Yu Qingtang's subtle unusual behavior, and just now when Cheng Zhanxi wanted to get champagne but a friend forcibly took it away, leaving her empty-handed – it was all in preparation for this moment.
Cheng Zhanxi smiled, her smile so radiant that she had to bite her lip to restrain it, looking with watery tenderness at the woman kneeling on one knee.
Yu Qingtang said, "I couldn't think of a more romantic proposal than yours, but at least I wanted to give you a surprise. I know you cherish your friends, so I wanted to invite all our friends to witness this. Cheng Zhanxi, are you willing to marry me and make a lifelong promise?"
Cheng Zhanxi, of course, said without hesitation, "I am willing."
Yu Qingtang took her left hand, slipped off the diamond ring on her ring finger, and replaced it with the new one.
"Bang, bang, bang."
The prepared flower petals, confetti cannons, blessings, and cheers all rushed towards the new couple.
Amidst the shower of flowers, Cheng Zhanxi, covered in streamers from head to face, helped Yu Qingtang up and asked, "You're not going to keep the other ring from me, are you?"
Before Yu Qingtang could answer, their friends turned their faces away, unable to look directly.
Yu Qingtang said, "It's still yours."
Cheng Zhanxi said, "Then I'm relieved."
The friend with the champagne opened the bottle, poured it into the glasses arranged on the table, and shouted, "Here we go—time for the cross-cupped wine ceremony—"
Cheng Zhanxi looked at Yu Qingtang, her eyes saying: You arranged this too?
Yu Qingtang shook her head.
Their friends brought over the glasses. Cheng Zhanxi and Yu Qingtang took them and drank the cross-cupped wine amidst the cheers.
Only afterwards did Cheng Zhanxi have time to sort out this proposal.
Undoubtedly, it was Yu Qingtang who, in collaboration with Cheng Zhanxi's friends, created this surprise. Yu Qingtang first contacted Jin Siyue, with whom she was relatively familiar, told her about her idea, and asked about its feasibility. Jin Siyue was resourceful; although she wasn't present, she secretly created a group chat that included everyone except Cheng Zhanxi. For the past few days, everyone had been discussing the specifics in the group.
Yu Qingtang was very grateful to this group of Cheng Zhanxi's friends. She was unfamiliar with people and places in the Capital City; it was everyone who brainstormed ideas, introduced her to restaurants, recommended flower shops, and one friend even brought champagne from home.
While everyone was excitedly recapping, Friend 1 glanced at Cheng Zhanxi with an envious look and said, "This is the first time I've seen someone get proposed to twice. We haven't even had one."
Cheng Zhanxi seriously corrected, "It's three times. She proposed twice, I proposed once."
Friend 1 feigned anger: "How can you not kiss after this? It's unacceptable!"
Friend 2 slammed the table and stood up: "You must kiss! I've used up all my acting skills today. If you don't kiss, how can you face me?!"
Friends 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10: "Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!"
Amidst the boiling public opinion, Cheng Zhanxi made a downward gesture with her palm and said unhurriedly, "We'll kiss at the wedding, don't be in such a..."
Before she could finish her sentence, her chin was turned by a slender, fair hand. Her lips felt warm, and her pupils reflected Yu Qingtang's incredibly close face.
"Ahhhh!!!"
"Ahhhh, it's Jiejie!!!"
The scene reached its climax at this moment.
Yu Qingtang not only kissed her but also used her tongue. After a few shallow seconds, Yu Qingtang released the hand holding her chin.
Cheng Zhanxi's expression was dazed.
"Ahhhh, Jiejie is so cool!"
"Cheng Xixi, you bottom! Stand up for yourself!"
"Cheng Xixi, are you incapable? Kiss her back for Mama!"
"Ahhhhhhh!!"
The scene was out of control for a while before it finally calmed down.
Friend 1 clutched her heart: "Oh my god, that was so seductive. Who wouldn't be?"
Friend 2, who had just screamed herself out of breath, slumped in her chair, repeatedly saying, "Amazing."
The group of friends became even more convinced of Cheng Zhanxi's "0" status.
The party went on late into the night. Everyone drank a lot. Cheng Zhanxi arranged for designated drivers for each of them. After sending off the last one, she turned around and saw Yu Qingtang standing under a streetlight.
Yu Qingtang had also been drinking. Her tolerance was average, and now her eyes were a bit unfocused. Another drop and she would pass out.
Cheng Zhanxi walked over, pinched her chin, and teased, "Fierce top Jiejie."
Yu Qingtang grinned at her.
That smile was so adorable it made Cheng Zhanxi's heart melt.
"What is Jiejie doing here?" Cheng Zhanxi asked.
"Waiting for someone."
"Waiting for whom?"
"Waiting for my beloved." Yu Qingtang looked at her face, her vision blurring, and with a tipsy, soft smile, she said, "Why do you... look so much like my beloved? If you weren't swaying... you'd look even more like her."
Cheng Zhanxi cupped her face with both hands to hold it steady and asked, "Are you still swaying?"
Yu Qingtang closed her eyes, then opened them, feeling even dizzier.
"Swaying, there are... three of you."
Her watery eyes were misty, her eyelashes damp, looking aggrieved and utterly captivating.
Cheng Zhanxi couldn't hold back any longer and lowered her head to capture the woman's lips.
Yu Qingtang let out a soft "mm-hmm" and closed her eyes in enjoyment.
Her hands spontaneously wrapped around Cheng Zhanxi's neck. Gradually, her hands lost strength. Cheng Zhanxi supported her waist with one hand and cupped the back of her head with the other, kissing her deeply and passionately.
After the kiss, Yu Qingtang was completely drunk, asleep and oblivious in Cheng Zhanxi's arms.
Cheng Zhanxi carried her into the back seat of the car, supporting her head so it rested on her own lap, and told the driver in front to drive home.
Yu Qingtang woke up in the middle of the night, thirsty. A small night light was on in the bedroom. Cheng Zhanxi was sitting by the bed, holding a diamond ring in one hand.
Yu Qingtang squinted, her voice hoarse, and asked, "What time is it?"
Hearing the voice beside her, Cheng Zhanxi turned her head, her smile not yet faded, and said, "A little past three."
Yu Qingtang: "Why aren't you asleep yet?"
"I can't sleep." Cheng Zhanxi picked up the larger diamond ring and asked, "When did you buy this?"
She had wanted to ask earlier but hadn't found the chance, and then Yu Qingtang had fallen asleep.
Yu Qingtang replied, "I bought it at the same time as the first one. Because it was custom-made, I had to wait for a while."
"Have you been thinking all this time about how to give it to me?"
"...Mm."
"Was it very hard thinking about it?"
"Not really," Yu Qingtang said. "Not as hard as your painting."
"I don't care, it was hard." Cheng Zhanxi hugged her with a pang of tenderness, then sat back, looked at the diamond ring, and started smiling again.
Yu Qingtang raised an eyebrow very slightly. Cheng Zhanxi seemed particularly excited tonight.
"Who else but me would receive two proposals, two diamond rings."
"And we're getting engaged the day after tomorrow, no, tomorrow."
"I'm going to wear one on each hand."
Yu Qingtang: "..." That's really not necessary.
Cheng Zhanxi chattered excitedly beside her. Yu Qingtang felt drowsy listening to her but was too thirsty to sleep. She tugged Cheng Zhanxi's sleeve, interrupting her monologue, and said, "I want to drink water."
"Drink water?" Cheng Zhanxi's excited brain took two seconds to process. "Oh, drink water. I'll go get it for you."
Yu Qingtang leaned against Cheng Zhanxi's embrace and sipped half a glass of water. Cheng Zhanxi didn't lay her flat down immediately but asked, "Are you sleepy?"
After drinking water, Yu Qingtang felt a bit more awake and forced herself to say, "I'm okay. What's wrong?"
But if Cheng Zhanxi started another round of chattering, she would probably fall asleep on the spot.
Cheng Zhanxi licked her lips: "I want to drive."
Yu Qingtang finished the remaining half glass of water and said, "Drive."
Cheng Zhanxi's gaze slid over her well-defined hand. She lowered her eyes, her voice softening slightly, "I want you to drive."
The energy from Yu Qingtang's evening proposal hadn't faded. She immediately and decisively pushed Cheng Zhanxi down onto the bed.
Humming and whimpering, whimpering and humming.
Dawn broke.
In Cheng Zhanxi's childhood friends' group chat.
[Cheng Zhanxi]: [Great luck, great fortune!]
[Cheng Zhanxi]: Good night everyone [Moon emoji]
The friends waking up one after another:
[Friend 1]: It's past six already? Good night?
[Friend 2]: Hiss—
[Friend 3]: What kind of smug, tsundere, top-flaunting maniac little bottom is Xixi?
[Friend 4]: "Top-flaunting maniac" is hilarious!
[Friend 5]: Grass (Chinese and Japanese bilingual)
[Friend 6]: Help, it's broad daylight! Are you trying to kill us? Recruiting a bottom in the group, generous reward, apply quickly!
[Friend 7]: Sorry, the only bottom is already in Yu Jiejie's bed.
Jin Siyue: Wow, what good drama did I miss? Someone PM me and catch me up.
[System Message: Group owner "Friend 9" has changed the group name to "10 Tops and 1 Bottom"]
Cheng Zhanxi had eaten her fill. When she woke up, the feeling of sated contentment was still there, making her place the back of her hand on her forehead and savor it for a long time.
She grabbed the nightgown from the bedside, put it on, opened the bedroom door, and went out. Yu Qingtang was standing in front of the living room's French window, talking on the phone. Her right hand held her left arm, and her left hand held the phone. Pale golden sunlight hit her side profile, outlining it with a hazy golden edge.
Cheng Zhanxi walked closer and heard her call the person on the other end of the line "Auntie."
Cheng Zhanxi hugged her from behind, her thin lips brushing against the spot below Yu Qingtang's ear.
Yu Qingtang flinched slightly but retreated further into her embrace, relaxing against her body, and continued, "She's awake. I'll ask her."
"Ask me what?" Cheng Zhanxi chimed in, her voice unusually hoarse.
She cleared her throat and said it again.
Yu Qingtang said, "Auntie and the others are eating out. They're asking if you want to go."
Cheng Zhanxi raised an eyebrow, "She's willing to let me disturb her private time with my dad?"
"Not just Uncle, Brother Yuanxi is there too."
"Yuanxi... Brother?" Cheng Zhanxi frowned, feeling jealous. "Why do you call him so intimately?"
Yu Qingtang blinked, "Do I?"
Cheng Zhanxi reached out and pinched her cheek, "You're doing it on purpose, aren't you?"
Yu Qingtang's eyes glinted mischievously, "No."
"Still say no?" Cheng Zhanxi kissed her lips. "Aren't you?" Another kiss. "Aren't you?"
"Aren't you, aren't you, aren't you?" Ears, chin, side of the neck, kissing lower and lower.
Yu Qingtang kept trying to dodge, ticklish, but couldn't escape and could only squirm in her arms. Finally, her nightgown disheveled, she panted, "I was wrong. I shouldn't have made you jealous."
"Hmph, too late."
Song Qingrou, forced to listen to the whole exchange, raised her voice, amused and exasperated, "Have you two forgotten about me?"
Yu Qingtang pinched Cheng Zhanxi's waist, blushing, and said, "Auntie..."
Cheng Zhanxi took the phone from her hand and said calmly, "Ms. Song, do you know it's immoral to eavesdrop on young lovers flirting?"
Song Qingrou: "Do you think your mother is very willing to listen?"
Cheng Zhanxi: "You are very willing."
Ms. Song's laughter was clear and bright.
Cheng Zhanxi got to the point: "Where's the restaurant? Send me the location. We'll change and head over."
Song Qingrou hung up and sent the location to Yu Qingtang's WeChat.
Cheng Zhanxi opened the map to check the driving time, locked her phone, tossed it on the coffee table, and took Yu Qingtang's hand to go to the bathroom to freshen up.
While brushing her teeth, Cheng Zhanxi looked at the two of them in the mirror and felt something was strange.
She rinsed her mouth with water and watched Yu Qingtang put her electric toothbrush back in its place. Suddenly, she realized what was wrong: Yu Qingtang had brushed her teeth with her left hand.
She had also held the phone with her left hand just now. She hadn't seen Yu Qingtang use her right hand since she woke up.
The two turned, and Cheng Zhanxi deliberately walked one step behind Yu Qingtang.
Yu Qingtang's right hand hung by her side, its fingertips trembling uncontrollably.
