Chapter 98

Qin Zhen got out of the car and closed the door. Turning around, she saw her little girlfriend, whom she hadn't seen for a few days, running towards her excitedly.

Today, Wen Shixue was wearing a red velvet jumpsuit dress, a small red shawl with white embroidered edges, and a fluffy beret of the same color. Her makeup was fresh and clean, her lips were bright and cherry-like, and her demeanor was outstanding, like a dazzling little planet. When she appeared, all the colors in the world seemed to gently converge on her alone, making it impossible to see anyone else.

Her little princess was even more beautiful today.

Qin Zhen first greeted Aunt Cui, who was walking ahead of Wen Shixue, ready to welcome her into the house. Only then did she look at Wen Shixue, her red lips parting to call out formally, "President Wen."

Aunt Cui then realized Wen Shixue had also come out.

Seeing her being so proper, Wen Shixue's heart suddenly felt a little ticklish; she especially wanted to hear her call her affectionately in front of others. She walked up to her, her expression full of unconcealed joy: "Very good, safely arrived. Happy New Year."

Qin Zhen responded gently: "Happy New Year."

Aunt Cui helped Qin Zhen carry the gifts for Wen Lianchang and his wife into the house. The two walked behind, Qin Zhen listening to Wen Shixue muttering beside her, neither annoyed nor upset, a gentle smile hanging on her lips.

Walking with her loved one, listening to her voice, whether complaining or describing trivial matters of life—this, for her, was the life she had long yearned for and now had within reach.

Wen Shixue muttered: "My mom keeps making me drink all sorts of nourishing soups these past few days, I'm almost sick of them."

Qin Zhen chuckled softly: "It's good to nourish yourself. That way, our Shixue will get sick less and suffer less in the future, staying healthy and strong."

Hearing her say this, Wen Shixue's lips curved slightly upwards, and the smile in her eyes was as sweet as if it had been dipped in honey.

Meng Yuezhu, wearing a plain long dress and a red plaid fringed shawl over her shoulders, walked out gracefully and calmly towards the two walking side-by-side. Seeing their close and cheerful attitude, she knew their relationship was indeed better than that of a typical boss and subordinate.

"Come in quickly," she said to the two. "It's still snowing outside."

Wen Shixue agreed, and without hesitation, took Qin Zhen's hand in front of Meng Yuezhu, leading her into the house.

Wen Lianchang specifically called Qin Zhen into the study to chat about Wen Shixue's situation.

"Do you really think she's doing well?" Wen Lianchang asked.

Qin Zhen answered with certainty that she was.

Wen Lianchang then asked: "Do you personally think I need to arrange another teacher for her?"

Qin Zhen looked at him calmly and steadily, his face kind and amiable. She actually wanted to reject this idea, because she was also selfish and didn't want to see a rival appear beside her girlfriend. But she couldn't be too direct, so she said unhurriedly: "Whether it's needed should be up to President Wen. If she's not satisfied with your arrangement, the learning effect will also be greatly reduced."

"Furthermore, if you hope she can learn more, you can also consider giving me some time. Once I learn, I can teach her."

Wen Lianchang rested his hand on his chin, looking at her. Seeing her so actively and willingly take on this responsibility, he felt comforted, because her work ability and learning ability were obvious to all. This child must have a quick mind to have achieved what she has today.

He asked again: "Is Shixue usually good to the people below her? Doesn't she have any spoiled young lady tantrums?"

Qin Zhen answered truthfully: "She's good to everyone, no tantrums. President Wen is very approachable."

Mainly approachable to Vice President Qin.

Wen Lianchang nodded: "That's good."

He thought, if his little princess had a bad temper, Qin Zhen probably wouldn't have voluntarily taken on this job; no one would rush to make trouble for themselves.

Wen Lianchang asked a few more questions, and the answers all made him very satisfied and happy. No father dislikes hearing others praise his child, especially a child who performs so outstandingly in their first job.

The conversation ended pleasantly. Qin Zhen politely and courteously walked out of the study and closed the door, not disturbing Wen Lianchang's reading.

Outside the study was also a spacious reception hall. Soft sofas were arranged around a tea table with tea sets. The hall was airy and bright on two sides, with a clear and open view. Black wall lamps hung from the ceiling beams, and dark tall flower stands were placed nearby, holding lush green potted plants.

Wen Shixue was leaning alone against a ceiling beam, idly fiddling with a potted plant, seemingly waiting for someone.

Qin Zhen walked over and asked softly: "Were you waiting here the whole time?"

Wen Shixue calmly clapped her hands: "Waiting for a rabbit always takes some time."

Qin Zhen: "Waiting for what rabbit?"

Wen Shixue: "As long as I stand here, a rabbit named 'Qin Zhen' will voluntarily bump into me and become my wife."

Qin Zhen: "..."

She really had a lot of cheeky ideas.

"Raise your hand," Qin Zhen said.

Wen Shixue raised her hand in confusion, and then saw her bend down and, both helplessly and obediently, gently bump her forehead against Wen Shixue's palm. She was slightly startled, then curved her beautiful eyes into a smile, and with a small, light movement, pulled on her scarf: "I caught you."

Qin Zhen smiled: "Make sure you hold on tight."

Wen Shixue nodded vigorously and said: "Lao Meng is cooking, she said she wants to personally cook for you, and asked me to keep you company for a while—wait a moment." She opened the study door, poked her head in, and relayed Meng Yuezhu's words: "Chairman Wen, your wife specifically asked you to go to the kitchen and help her out."

Wen Lianchang closed his book: "Coming, coming."

After Wen Lianchang went to the kitchen on the first floor, Wen Shixue took Qin Zhen's hand, planning to give her a good tour of the second floor, which she hadn't really seen before.

The Wen residence was very large, with a duplex structure, fully equipped for eating, drinking, and entertainment. There were also dedicated art studios, craft rooms, and craft collection rooms, all built by Wen Lianchang for their family's craft expert, Meng Yuezhu.

It was Qin Zhen's first time seeing Meng Yuezhu's collection room. It was filled with various exquisite objects: animal dolls of different colors and sizes, stacked three layers high; brightly colored clay DIY creations; and various pottery works. It was like entering a world full of childlike wonder, and the creator of this world was Meng Yuezhu.

Wen Shixue introduced each item to Qin Zhen. She stopped in the area with animal dolls, casually picked up a small rabbit with blue and white patterns, and said: "Lao Meng especially loves making these handicrafts. She's even won several awards both domestically and internationally, you should know this, right?"

Qin Zhen nodded gently.

Wen Shixue smiled and shook the rabbit in her hand: "Her favorite thing to make is animal dolls. Every child in the Wen family has a doll she made, so the dolls can also be said to be our stamp as Wen family children."

"But when I was little, I was quite annoyed that that dog Wen Jian also had one, but later I wasn't angry anymore."

Qin Zhen was always very interested in her stories and asked with amusement: "Why weren't you angry anymore?"

Wen Shixue said proudly: "Because Lao Meng gave me more dolls!" She gestured: "Of these, more than half were made for me by Lao Meng, while Wen Jian only has two small dog dolls. Hmph, he's not worthy of comparing with this young lady."

Truly a childlike mindset, not angry as long as she had more. Qin Zhen couldn't help but laugh, and stroked her head.

Wen Shixue put down the rabbit and took her to see other rooms, finally stopping in front of her own door: "Let me show you my room, see what kind of bedroom I slept in when you came to my house before?"

Qin Zhen said okay. Wen Shixue then put on a sad face and started acting: "Thinking about it is just too heartbreaking. My future wife was downstairs, while I was sleeping and playing on my phone in my room."

Qin Zhen: "..."

Cut the act.

The door opened, revealing a fresh and comfortable light blue color scheme. The room was divided into two parts. The right side connected to a sliding door walk-in closet and a separate bathroom. Soft sheer curtains hung silently, half-concealing the white, soft, round large bed. The left side was mainly the activity area, with a half-wall built-in bookshelf containing a few books of various types. A blue plush carpet covered the center, with a small sofa and a small tea table. The decorative flowers on the small tea table even held a hint of a young girl's gentle and shy thoughts.

Outside the large balcony were a comfortable swing and sofa chair. Qin Zhen could imagine Wen Shixue's leisurely appearance lying outside sunbathing on a pleasant day just by looking from afar.

Wen Shixue closed the door and excitedly walked towards the bedside table: "Lao Qin, come here, I have a red envelope for you."

Qin Zhen looked puzzled and said: "Shixue, you're younger than me, you don't need to give me a red envelope."

Wen Shixue said: "No, I get red envelopes from my girlfriend, so of course you should too." Then she pulled out a red envelope that was slightly larger than usual.

She handed it to Qin Zhen: "Open it and see what's inside."

Qin Zhen took it and opened it, only to find it empty. Not only was it empty, but the bottom edge had also been opened, unable to hold anything at either end. It was truly baffling how there could be such a red envelope.

Just then, Wen Shixue suddenly reached her hand inside, making a fist and placing it in Qin Zhen's palm. She asked with a smile: "Lao Qin, do you know what it means when a red envelope is open at both ends and my hand is inside?"

Qin Zhen: "Hmm?"

Wen Shixue said: "It means I will give you a beautiful future that even a red envelope can't contain."

Qin Zhen looked at the hand in her palm, as if holding her entire heart. She was momentarily stunned, then smiled gently, softly holding it, and pressed a deep, affectionate kiss onto it, solemnly promising: "I will hold on tight." Then she carefully put this red envelope, which represented their future happiness being too much to contain, into the pocket of her coat, keeping it close for now. Fortunately, the coat pocket was deep and large enough.

Wen Shixue immediately clasped her hands together and said sweetly: "Wishing you prosperity, hand over the red envelope."

Qin Zhen took out a red envelope from her other pocket and placed it in Wen Shixue's open palm.

Wen Shixue touched it; the material was a bit hard and thin: "Is it a card?"

Qin Zhen nodded.

Wen Shixue was momentarily stunned. She just wanted a red envelope from her girlfriend; even if it only contained a one-yuan coin, she would be happy. She hadn't expected a bank card, which was so much. Then she heard Qin Zhen say very gently: "It's my salary card."

She stroked Wen Shixue's face: "If Shixue doesn't like this red envelope, then give me another chance, let me go back and think again, okay?"

Wen Shixue immediately snapped out of her daze and said ecstatically: "I love it! This is the best New Year's gift I've ever received!"

She wasn't short on money, but this salary card represented more than just money; it represented Qin Zhen's intention to form a family with her, to weather storms together and support each other—she loved this gift, especially loved it.

She stood on tiptoe and kissed her lightly twice, then quickly stepped back, saying calmly: "I can't kiss too hard, I'm afraid I'll mess up your lipstick."

Wen Shixue: Forgot to prepare my wife's lipstick shade at home, a miscalculation!

Then her waist suddenly tightened. Qin Zhen wrapped her arms around her waist, looking down at her intently and saying: "I brought it."

Wen Shixue didn't react immediately: "What?"

"...Lipstick," Qin Zhen said, a little shyly.

Wen Shixue raised her eyebrows in surprise, feeling a little touched: "Ah, our Lao Qin has grown up."
