SCHS - Chapter 91
Chapter 91
Inside the barbecue restaurant, Qin Zhen and Yu Hanhan sat opposite each other. Slices of meat sizzled on the grill between them, releasing a rich, tender aroma that filled the air, wafting into their nostrils and powerfully stimulating their appetites. Yet, neither of them picked up their chopsticks.
Qin Zhen was waiting for Yu Hanhan’s answer, while Yu Hanhan’s brain was processing the equation in her question before she answered with a completely straight face, “Never thought about it.”
Qin Zhen asked why.
Yu Hanhan picked up her chopsticks, slowly dipped a piece of meat in sauce, and said matter-of-factly, “You don’t lie. If you said ‘little secretary,’ she’s definitely a little secretary, not a little boss. Besides, that’s Wen Lianchang’s precious daughter! If you two got together, wouldn’t we, rounded up, be related by marriage? I wouldn’t dare dream that beautifully even with ten times the guts.”
She bit into the meat, chewed a few times, and muttered to herself inwardly: Although I did think for a few seconds yesterday that they looked very compatible…
Saying that out loud made her feel like she lacked common sense and was letting down the little secretary she hadn’t even met, but it was an undeniable fact—before Wen Shixue revealed her identity yesterday, when Qin Zhen held Wen Shixue tightly and obediently, their auras gently collided, creating a strangely harmonious fit that made her see a sense of compatibility.
However, this feeling was quickly shattered by the name “Wen Shixue,” leaving not even a trace.
Qin Zhen was their family and friend, and she belonged to the little secretary, so rounded up, the little secretary was half their relative. As relatives, they absolutely couldn’t side with outsiders! —Not compatible, not compatible at all!
Hearing this, Qin Zhen suddenly chuckled softly. The former her, unlike the current Yu Hanhan, didn’t dare to think, didn’t dare to believe. Who was Wen Shixue? She was Wen Lianchang’s only child, a golden branch and jade leaf raised with love and care in their palms. How could she fancy someone as ordinary as her?
But the truth proved that she herself had imagined Wen Shixue to be as high and unattainable as the scorching sun hanging in the sky. Yet, Wen Shixue was indeed like the scorching sun to her, only this sun wasn’t in the sky, but in her palm, close at hand, within reach.
Now, she couldn’t wait to bring out this unique little sun and let her best friend know of her existence too.
“Then borrow eleven guts,” she said. “You can think about it now.”
Yu Hanhan was happily eating, and it took her a few seconds to slowly react. She suddenly looked up, staring at her without blinking.
Good heavens, what earth-shattering words had she just heard?
“Think about it,” Qin Zhen encouraged.
Yu Hanhan stiffly lowered her head to look at the rice and meat in her bowl, then stiffly raised her head again to stare blankly at her. After a long while, she let out a deep sigh, “Qinqin, you’ve changed. Now you not only know how to joke but also how to ship yourself, and with your boss at that. You’ve really changed.”
After speaking, she sighed deeply again, like a heartbroken old mother whose child had entered their rebellious phase.
Qin Zhen: “…”
It seemed this matter was truly hard for her to believe…
After finishing her lament, Yu Hanhan saw Qin Zhen gazing at her with a serious expression, looking very earnest, not at all like she was joking. Her expression gradually became serious as well: “This… is this really true?”
Qin Zhen nodded gently and surely.
Yu Hanhan immediately covered her mouth in shock, lest she shout out in surprise. Her mind was flooded with “Holy crap!” like a barrage of bullet comments.
Good heavens, this was the real deal! Who would have thought that someone who looked so quiet was secretly doing something big!
They had originally thought Qin Zhen, being transferred to be Wen Shixue’s Vice President, would inevitably suffer under the little princess who was working for the first time. Who knew she didn’t suffer at all, and even won over the little princess!
No wonder the little princess wasn’t angry when she drunkenly hugged her last night! It wasn’t that she had mistaken someone else; it was that Yu Hanhan hadn’t grasped the profound meaning. This meant that the woman she saw lying in Qin Zhen’s arms back then… was the little princess herself!
Yu Hanhan was now nothing but shocked, and on top of the shock, she was a little scared: “Oh no, will I be silenced for knowing too much and seeing what I shouldn’t have seen?”
She now wished she could travel back in time and stop herself from making that video call to Qin Zhen. Her life was at stake!
Qin Zhen: “…”
She rubbed her forehead: “This is a lawful society now.”
Yu Hanhan asked very puzzledly, “Then why did you lie to me and say she was a little secretary?”
Qin Zhen sighed helplessly: “Many things hadn’t been resolved, so I wasn’t ready to be honest with you all at that time.”
Yu Hanhan was stunned: “Then, have those things been resolved now?”
She didn’t want to ask what exactly those things were, because she trusted Qin Zhen. If she could talk about it, she would be honest with them like she was now.
Qin Zhen smiled and shook her head. She had originally come to Wen Shixue’s side to help Wen Shixue prove herself and break off the engagement, and later added coming out to Wen Lianchang and Meng Yuezhu, but none of these had been completed yet, they were still in progress. However, at least the process was smooth, which was already something to be thankful for.
Yu Hanhan asked again, “Then why are you planning to tell me now?”
Qin Zhen replied, “Because you trust me.”
She thought of Wen Shixue and couldn’t help but smile: “Also because she’s too good, I can’t hide it, so I wanted to tell you in advance.”
It was Wen Shixue who untied the loneliness that had always bound her, and it was she who made her start to feel confident in herself, able to face this relationship more bravely and fearlessly, and tell others about her liking for her.
She was her warm little sun, irreplaceable.
Yu Hanhan watched her silently. When she mentioned Wen Shixue, her eyes and brows softened like water, as if she was talking about the most beautiful thing in the world. She hadn’t seen her wear such an expression in many years.
She truly liked Wen Shixue, and they were very happy together.
Yu Hanhan suddenly felt a sense of relief. To hell with it, who cared if she was the little princess of some group, as long as she could make their precious Qin Zhen feel happy and satisfied, and no longer lonely!
Thinking this, her shocked and disbelieving mood finally calmed down considerably. She asked, “Does the little secretary, no, the little princess know you’ve told me?”
Qin Zhen nodded.
Wen Shixue had always been looking forward to going public with her, not just to her best friends, but to everyone. So before telling Yu Hanhan, she had already discussed it with Wen Shixue. The Little Demon King agreed very readily and was even eagerly trying to get her to live broadcast Yu Hanhan’s reaction.
Upon hearing this, Yu Hanhan immediately became interested and started gossiping, adopting a mindset of accepting the situation and then gossiping about it naturally. She didn’t even care about eating anymore.
“Who liked whom first?”
“Who confessed first?”
“Have you held hands or kissed? —Oh wait, you two were already lying together, so that question is passed.”
“Does anyone else know? Am I the first? Hehe.”
One question after another, like a machine gun firing non-stop.
Qin Zhen: “…”
She picked up the tongs and put a few pieces of meat on her plate, interrupting her spellcasting. She said calmly, “Don’t talk while eating.”
Yu Hanhan was filled with emotion. Among the four roommates, the three who didn’t want to work and wanted to rely on beautiful rich women and handsome tycoons to get rich without effort, none of their dreams came true. Instead, the one who buried her head and worked hard to prove herself found an unreasonably beautiful and super-rich woman.
Yu Hanhan: Fate is truly playing tricks on people…
“Qinqin,” she said, holding her bowl, “If you become rich, don’t forget me. Hanhan doesn’t want to work anymore.”
Qin Zhen had heard her say this for so many years that she was numb to it and had gotten used to it. If she really wanted her to support her, she would have done so long ago. So she very calmly put a piece of vegetable on her plate: “Eat properly.”
...
Qin Zhen stood in the parking lot waiting for Yu Hanhan to bring the keys down from upstairs. Wen Shixue called her, repeatedly reminding her not to forget to buy cola, and in the end, didn’t want her to hang up. So she took out her Bluetooth earphones, put her phone in her pocket, talked to her, and waited for Yu Hanhan to come down.
Yu Hanhan rushed into the parking lot with the car keys and handed them to her: “Hope I didn’t make you wait too long?”
Qin Zhen said no. Yu Hanhan patted her shoulder solemnly: “Don’t worry, I’ll keep today’s matter a secret for you. As for Zimeng and the others, you can tell them whenever you want.”
She nodded gently and said softly, “Thank you.”
All these years, if it weren’t for the three of them, she might not have made it this far. They and Wen Shixue were equally important to her.
Yu Hanhan smiled upon hearing this and patted her arm lightly, “Who are we kidding? Don’t mention thanks. Your happiness is the most important thing. You must be good with the little princess from now on. I’ll be waiting to drink your wedding wine, if you plan to get married…”
Qin Zhen smiled: “We will. You can drink as much as you want.”
They would definitely get married, because she couldn’t just call her “wife” and be a hooligan.
Yu Hanhan’s eyes curved: “Then I’ll prepare my wedding gift money and wait.”
She felt that wedding wine from a rich family should taste better?
Qin Zhen said goodbye to her and walked towards the driver’s seat under her gaze. Just as she was holding the car key and about to open the door, she suddenly heard her call out clearly and enthusiastically, “Farewell, Emperor’s Son-in-law!”
Hearing this sudden shout, Qin Zhen almost broke the car key in her hand. Immediately after, Wen Shixue’s voice came through the earphones, sounding like she had discovered a new continent: “Oh, Emperor’s Son-in-law~”
Qin Zhen: “…”
She hoped there weren’t any weird things going on in her head.
Yu Hanhan looked at Qin Zhen’s reaction, thought for a moment, and tentatively suggested, “Or… Crown Princess?”
Wen Shixue on the phone: “That’s not bad either.”
Qin Zhen: “…”
Shut up, Hanhan, don’t give her any more new ideas…
