Purely Accidental - Chapter 34

Chapter 34

Chapter 34

"Pet name?" Pei Youshan looked at her in confusion, "You actually have a pet name?"

In order to coax her into calling her real name, Xu Jingshu lied with righteous composure: "Yes, I was very quiet as a child, so my parents called me that."

Pei Youshan: "..."

To be honest, I think you're still pretty quiet now...

But Pei Youshan's main concern wasn't this, but rather the sudden request to change how she addressed her.

For a fleeting moment, she vaguely sensed a hint of avoidance toward the name "Xu Ge."

Or perhaps, she didn't want to hear that name coming from her lips.

Leaning against the white wall, Pei Youshan's eyelashes were distinct under the light, her sparkling eyes showing hesitation: "Why do you suddenly want me to call you by your pet name?"

Xu Jingshu replied unhurriedly: "It feels more intimate this way."

A question mark slowly appeared above Pei Youshan's head.

Why suddenly emphasize intimacy in how we address each other?

She was becoming increasingly unable to understand her canary.

Xu Jingshu smiled gently, gathering Pei Youshan's long hair: "Miss Yue is very kind and treats me well, so I want to be closer to you. Isn't that alright?"

Pei Youshan chuckled: "So if I treated you badly, you wouldn't want to be close to me?"

Xu Jingshu nodded matter-of-factly: "Seeking benefit and avoiding harm is human nature. If it were at the beginning, I would leave you without hesitation."

"But not now."

She gazed quietly into Pei Youshan's star-bright eyes, imprinting the soft affection from her lips between her brows, as if marking her determination.

—No matter what happens, as long as you haven't fallen for me yet, as long as your heart isn't already occupied, I won't leave you.

Pei Youshan slowly opened her eyes and asked softly: "Why not now?"

Unconsciously, she felt she'd vaguely grasped something, yet it seemed like nothing at all.

That elusive feeling kept tickling her heart, leaving her helpless.

Xu Jingshu interlaced their fingers, her smile radiating calm confidence: "Because I know you. You wouldn't treat me that way, and even if you did, there would surely be a reason."

Her ragdoll cat was the kindest, most adorable treasure in the world.

The little kitten couldn't possibly have ill intentions—if she ever did something bad...

—It must be the other party's fault.

Pei Youshan, pinned by her sincere gaze, awkwardly touched the tip of her nose: "Then... aren't you curious about my real name?"

She'd only revealed her surname, never her full name.

Her little lover never asked either, straightforwardly calling her "Miss Yue" all this time.

Was this disinterest, or fear of asking?

Xu Jingshu raised an eyebrow, suddenly unable to decipher her meaning.

Was this a simple question, or the prelude to revealing her identity?

If the latter, should she consider coming clean too?

But if she confessed now, wouldn't it become a horror story that made Pei Youshan flee overnight?

Despite her doubts, Xu Jingshu asked directly: "Does Miss Yue want to tell me your name?"

Pei Youshan replied: "I was just asking casually."

After hiding for so long, suddenly being completely open felt uncomfortable...

Besides, was their relationship at the stage where they needed to reveal all their cards? No.

Things were fine as they were.

Xu Jingshu tenderly kissed her fingers, answering flawlessly: "If Miss Yue wants to tell me, you will—just like how I voluntarily told you my pet name."

Hearing this, Pei Youshan grew even more embarrassed: "You're older than me. Is it really okay for me to call you that?"

"Age isn't an issue. You can call me whatever you like. If you prefer..."

Xu Jingshu slowly wrapped an arm around her waist, her featherlight fingertips grazing Pei Youshan's skin as her voice, laced with a teasing smile, drifted to her ear:

"I can also call you 'jiejie.'"

Pei Youshan instantly recalled the day Xu Jingshu pretended to be underage, calling her "jiejie" boldly and clearly without hesitation, as if shame didn't exist.

Back then, it had terrified her.

But this "jiejie" was different.

Now it carried transgressive desire, a hint of springtime allure, easily breathed against her ear like the most tempting seduction.

Her face flushed crimson instantly, her runaway tongue unable to say whether she liked it or not.

Xu Jingshu, in contrast, remained utterly composed—and true to her word, amidst the warm night and tangled passion, she deliberately whispered "jiejie" by Pei Youshan's ear like a millennia-old temptress.

The caller remained unflustered.

The listener burned scarlet, her heart pounding like thunder.

Pei Youshan buried her face in the pillow, her ears red enough to drip blood.

Yet the woman behind her refused to simply call her name, alternating between teasing and mischief, making her oscillate between shame and intoxication until only fragmented sounds escaped her lips.

The longing from days apart made their reunion even more tender and lingering, Xu Jingshu's desire now utterly unconcealed, laid bare between kisses and embraces.

Gradually lost in her lover's tenderness, Pei Youshan forgot her earlier bashfulness—until she unconsciously began calling that name again.

She barely uttered the surname when teeth sank into her shoulder, leaving faint marks.

"Wrong name." Xu Jingshu paused, her gaze burning.

Pei Youshan sat up halfway, frowning as she touched her innocent shoulder, surprised by her seriousness.

She nearly retorted, "What does it matter? Both names are you!"—but the look on Xu Jingshu's face stopped her.

Xu Jingshu sat before her, staring unblinkingly, her complex expression so earnest it seemed less about a pet name and more about entrusting her most precious possession—only for it to go uncherished.

Pei Youshan froze, suddenly overwhelmed by guilt.

After all this time together, she finally shares her pet name, clearly wanting closeness, and you refuse to use it...

Seeing Xu Jingshu now, she seemed utterly pitiful.

Pei Youshan's conscience ached sharply.

—Pei Youshan, are you human? Hurry up and comfort her!

Urged by guilt, Pei Youshan tenderly cupped Xu Jingshu's face, her voice soft as water: "I'm sorry, it was a slip of the tongue. Don't be upset, okay?"

Xu Jingshu wasn't actually upset—just annoyed at her fake name.

She'd even childishly compared "Xu Ge" to her real name.

—Hers was clearly better, and would sound lovelier from Pei Youshan's lips.

She didn't know why Pei Youshan thought she was sad, but noted that playing pitiful worked on her.

She filed this away for future use.

When Xu Jingshu stayed silent, Pei Youshan's heart softened further, explaining gently: "I'm not used to the new name yet, so I slipped up. Don't be mad, okay?"

Xu Jingshu smiled, clasping her hand with utmost sincerity: "It's fine. I'll help Miss Yue get accustomed to it."

She couldn't bear her beloved calling someone else's name.

Never again would she borrow a name—what a foolish mistake!

Pei Youshan asked curiously: "How?"

Xu Jingshu pulled her close: "You'll see."

Baffled, Pei Youshan then felt warm breath by her ear as a melodious voice murmured: "Jiejie."

"Let's continue."

Mortification peaked instantly.

"No more of that!" Pei Youshan protested, scarlet-faced.

...

At 1:30 AM, freshly showered, Pei Youshan lay in bed rubbing her slightly sore waist. Noticing teeth marks on her arm, memories of earlier scenes flooded back.

Peach-blossom pink bloomed across her cheeks as she buried her face in the pillow.

She never expected Xu Jingshu's "help" would mean—a bite for every wrong name.

And the bites kept moving to increasingly improper places.

From shoulders to hands, waist, then thighs... each more scandalous than the last.

Her shame multiplied wildly.

Pei Youshan curled her legs, tightening the blankets.

The name "Xiao Jing" was now engraved in her mind—unforgettable for life...

Meanwhile, Xiao Jing herself calmly slipped under the covers, watching her with an amused smile as she ruffled her hair: "What's wrong? Embarrassed?"

Pei Youshan glanced at her before looking away, muttering: "So mean, biting people like that..."

And in such... indecent places!

Xu Jingshu stroked her wrist, voice tender: "Did I hurt you?"

She'd controlled her strength—wanting Pei Youshan to remember her name, not resent her.

Pei Youshan wasn't that delicate: "It's fine, didn't hurt much."

"But your methods... were too unfair."

It was like stomping all over her shame threshold!

Xu Jingshu smiled, her features glowing with water-soft tenderness, breathtakingly beautiful.

"No pain is good."

Pei Youshan stole a glance, momentarily dazed by that smile, wondering: What kind of person could win this remarkable woman's heart?

Unable to imagine, and still sleepless, she decided to ask directly.

They were this close, sharing a bed—what harm was there in casual romance talk? She justified boldly.

"Xiao Jing."

After Xu Jingshu's "assistance," this name was now etched into her DNA.

Xu Jingshu gazed at her, eyes reflecting only her: "Hmm?"

Pei Youshan shifted closer: "Do you have an ideal type?"

Xu Jingshu paused, hope flickering—but she hesitated to assume.

Was this probing, or just small talk?

"Meaning?" she asked.

Pei Youshan looked perfectly natural: "I'm curious about your preferences."

"Can't I be curious?"

She adopted a "we're close, no need for secrets" demeanor.

Xu Jingshu chuckled, brushing hair from her face: "Of course."

"But I don't have an ideal type."

Pei Youshan nodded sagely: "Ah."

Seizing the chance, Xu Jingshu countered: "Does Miss Yue have one? Besides looks."

"Yes," Pei Youshan said. "I like someone who can cook."

She'd always wanted a beautiful girlfriend who cooked—just imagining them sharing homemade meals felt blissful.

Since Xu Jingshu was just her lover, she'd never imposed this wish.

Xu Jingshu: "?"

Oh no. She only knew how to make fried rice...

Pei Youshan asked offhandedly: "Can you cook?"

Xu Jingshu: "..."

Though only capable of fried rice, to appeal to her, she answered without blinking, meticulously choosing two words:

"Somewhat proficient."

Author's Note: Pei Pei: What does "somewhat proficient" even mean???

President Xu: Even knowing just one dish counts as somewhat proficient.

This chapter? Pure married-couple flirting.

Shame? Nonexistent for our President Xu. Teasing her wife is her greatest joy.
