Synopsis
Wen Zhengyu, a meticulous gongbi painter known as "Kunlun Little Sprite," has devoted twenty years to depicting the Kunlun Mountains and the mountain spirits and monsters of ancient myth. Her grandfather is an ink wash bird-and-flower painter and antique collector. Her father, a businessman, fled after his company collapsed, taking the remaining funds. When creditors descended, she and her grandfather sold off every family asset, antique, calligraphy scroll, and painting, including her grandmother's dowry, to repay his debts. The painting-obsessed pair fell into destitution…
Ye Ling, an entrepreneur with a passion for collecting antiques, calligraphy, and paintings, especially admires the "Kunlun Myriad Demons Scroll" and all the demons and spirits painted by the "Kunlun Little Sprite." She is a fan of Wen Zhengyu. A business rival of Wen Zhengyu's father, after toppling his enterprise, she buys the Wen family home, acquires their collections and artworks, and even holds an exhibition of the grandfather and granddaughter's paintings.
Ye Ling (with a straight face): The Kunlun Little Sprite, Zhengyu, and I are the closest of friends, with no secrets between us, no subject undiscussed…
